I'm back again. On Wednesday I treat the kids to junk fast food. On the way to pick up dinner as I am leaving the neighborhood I notice my Honda doesn't want to shift gears. Well that's not right. I was just a few blocks from Sals shop, and my brothers house, I'll need to borrow his truck to get to work, but I also need to drop this off to have Sal look at it. Problem was it was after 5. I rolled the dice and nursed the car into Sal's parking lot. The man above must have been watching over me, as Sal was just closing the gate and had not left yet. Perfect timing, what was nice was I didn't get the, "ah man really" look, orthe"sorry I'm closed" speech. Just a "what's wrong, how can I fix this" concerned look as he swung the gate back open. Showed him what was going on, he told me I possibly lost my clutch pressure plate since it shifted fine with the engine off. Told me he would tear it apart and get it good as new first thing tomorrow. Then get this, he took me to my brothers so I wouldn't have to bother him to come pick me up. Can you say excellent customer service and extra mile ? Even if I knew how to change a Honda clutch in my driveway, with the weather as bad as it is right now it would have been miserable doing this myself. But I got out of the truck at my brothers and didn't have a worry in the world, except if I had enough money to pay for the fill up of the Huge gas tank in my brothers truck. Picked the car up after work today. Way better. Noticed right off the softer pedal feel, but that's to be expected. And it definitely wasn't slipping driving down the road. Hello gas savings. Thank you Sal On a side note The Chevelle is coming along very nicely Me and pops got the motor together and in. Got it over to Sal to whisper to and run like it should. Swapped a few parts later after discussing things now that it runs. If you like the rumble of a healthy V8 go see the Maestro. He can make you smile like a little kid again. And speaking of customer service My brother was having problems getting his 454 to run. Sal stopped by on a Saturday while running errands, listened to it turn over for 30 sec, stated the problem and started to say he would be around if we needed a question answered, but ended up helping out and speeding up the corrective action needed by hours. What seemed to take Sal mer minutes would have taken us the rest of the day. As the whole front of the motor need to be removed and the timing chain set correctly. This is the type of guy you are dealing with. Not only will he fix your car but he will make sure you get things done to the best of his ability. You come in enough, you end up becoming family. And for that reason as well as all the others I have stated, I continue to bring my toys to Sal to whisper to and make better. As a matter of fact I'll be back Monday to have some cables swapped on the Chevelle. If you have taken the time to read all of this and my other mini novels, I want everyone to know I'm not secretly Sal posting undercover. I'm an actual customer, with 4 different vehicle listed in the ol Quickbooks program there. I don't get 90% off my bills because I write all of this here. I pay just like everyone else, and gladly do it knowing the work was done right or Sal will fix it. I came in years ago to talk to him about a project, felt he was honest and helpful. I was referred to Sal at Vacaville performance by a close friend to repair a bad window. Upon meeting Sal I noticed right away he was not like what most people describe the typical mechanic to be, he treated me with kindness and tried to figure out the problem with my window right there on the spot. Sal knocked it out in couple hours and got my car back to me the same day I brought it in. Since Fixing my window Sal has Rebuilt the rear end on my car, swapped out my old 350 sbc for a new 383, and he got my transmission rebuilt. Sal has also installed gauges and done other small jobs for me all in a timely and professional manner.
