Room was not as pictured. Small, carpet moist, ceiling in disrepair. And BED BUGS. Nasty. Left at 2 am. read more

1) Nice building - I liked the decorations! There were rocking chairs made out of old lobster traps. It was really cute. 2) The rooms used real keys - much better than cards that de-magnetize 3) Room was huge, bed was comfy. Not new, but better than I thought it would be 4) Breakfast was good and extensive: Waffles with berry syrup and whipped cream, bagels, muffins, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal. The coffee was meh, but the juice machine has lots of choices, including raspberry tea. 5) Only complaint was the shower. It was really hard to adjust the temperature because the dial turned 360 degrees. read more

Stayed in room 246 in the Coast Inn building. Was extremely disappointed overall. I found there was no phone nor clock nor facial tissues in the room. There was only one hand towel, no closet or place to hang clothes. The furniture was an mis match of things that might have come from the Salvation Army. One wall socket had a microwave and a Power strip plugged in and then a coffee make, a television and mini refrigerator plugged in to the Power strip. For some reason the three small paintings in the room were hung 3 inches from the ceiling. read more

They require all adults a copy of your photo ID as per Their policy r They keep of for three years as the manager explained to my wife. the clerk stated that they are supposed to shred on check out, great opportunity for Identity theft. It is not a state requirement to make a copy of ID's it is a HOTEL policy!! Rooms are basic no real thrills and the breakfast coffee was weak. read more

While not an avid reader of Bangor resident and author Steven King, so see how he might have gotten his story ideas from this most strange town (technically this is Brewer, but stones throw away from Bangor. Literally). Booking.com reviews made it seem this was a decent place. Why did I not check Yelp?!? One of the weirdest places. Seems sketchy then o.k. the sketchy again. My room was large and seemingly clean, with fridge, micowave. Nice shower head. However, the set up of the entire hotel is very odd. There are 3 different buildings. Lots of activity in the parking lot and adjacent grounds. Seems like they may offer temp housing or low income rates. Just weird. The guy at the desk was supposed to call me about a shuttle to the event I was attending-- which he said was not always running. He never called. Think there is supposed to be breakfast included, but no info on that at all, and I think I will skip it. I got this as a last minute deal on booking.com and as reviews were good and was close to event, I thought it would be fine. Sleeping with one eye open. read more

Got to the place and realized there's stairs for our handicap friend, which was not feasible. Second off, there were cooter balls and cigarette burns in the comforter and also no screen in the window, talk about safety hazard. Third off, the fridge smells like dead coon, thought i was gonna pass away. read more

The whole facility is horrible. needs remodeling. mold in the bathroom. no extra blankets in the room. The shower faucet is useless. just sound and it decides what temp it wants to be and then changes half way through your shot showner. The pictures online are misleading. The front desk would only give us one key to the room. Trash outside in the parking lot behind our room. do not stay here!!! read more

If I could give it a "Zero Star" I would. We came up for the DMB Show. Here right now, what a dump. Seedy neighborhood, filthy rooms, old run down. View of a large dumpster, way overpriced! Photos must be a great photographer.....wow. If the show got out earlier we would be on the road home. Absolute dump! read more

Vacationland is quite a nice hotel for a really good price. It's not upscale by any means but at the same time it's not at the lowest end either. We spent a night while on stretch drive from VT to ME (on our way to Arcadia National Park) and thought this place was a perfect place to stay without compromising on the price at a more touristy area near national park. Afterall, it was really just an hour drive or so to get from this place to Acadia National Park! Service was nice and courteous. The gentleman who helped us check into the hotel was friendly and very polite. The room itself was also large and comfortable (granted we didn't even pay that much to begin with!). We didn't have any issues with it at all. What we love was the breakfast buffet though. We typically don't really stay on a roadtrip at a high end hotel because, after all, it's just a place to sleep for the night while on our road trip (not a place to hang out), so we didn't have much expectations. However, their breakfast was scrumptious. You make your own waffles and you can get other items from their buffet as well. Overall, an awesome deal for a night to stay while driving from West to East towards Arcadia National Park! Not too upscale but at the same time very comfortable...both for us physically and financially, too! :) P.S.:We got a really good deal thru Expedia. It's probably worth checking out/shopping for the prices on various sites, too. While waiting in line, I overheard the guy who arrived and checked in before us didn't have come close to getting as good of a rate as we did. read more

We had the strangest experience after checking in. I put the key in the door and heard a "hello!?" from inside. Yep, they booked us in the same room as another. The desk lady was very apologetic and gave us a free room for another night, if we come back. The service was really the only great thing about this place. The rooms and bathrooms are clean but dated and the breakfast isn't great. I wish everything wasn't served in styrofoam either, so bad for the environment. read more

I have spent many many nights in hotels, but never before this have I been threatened with legal action, lest I should steal something, and this before I've even checked in! The front desk attendant warned me sternly not to steal or beak anything because "it will cast you more when you see what you pay for it", also I was warned not to have any wild parties, and that my car would be towed if I did not display the car pass on my dash. Once I got to my room, let me tell you something, the articles in the room all came from the swap shop at the dump! No fears of theft are warranted. The "free WiFi" is only free if you are content with just checking your email or texting. If you need to work with your laptop, they nickel dime you with paid WiFi. The room had no window, the bed is inconveniently jammed up against the wall. The fridge sounds like a C130. You have to use a towel to block the light from the door window. The only chairs are wooden straight back restaurant chairs. "Vacationland" is more aptly "Neveragainland." The owners are supposedly "Christian", but this is how they greet visiting clergy. I can't believe they fob this cupboard off as a room with full amenities for the rack rate. I have stayed in better rooms (in Haiti) for half the price. I'd like an explanation, or an apology, or better yet, a refund. read more

The grossest motel I've ever stayed at, yet the owner has the nerve to charge as much for a room as a clean, modern Marriott hotel does for 1 night. Room had skunk-like smell, only a couple of primitive outlets, ancient indoor/outdoor carpet, and furnishings that looked like they had been purchased at a 1960 hillbilly yard sale. The bathtub had no plug for the drain and someone had taped H and C letters on the tiles beside the shower valve. The mattress and "complimentary breakfast' room were also horrible. Don't believe any 4 or 5-star review -- avoid this place (which is listed under 3 different motel names) at all costs! read more

Not bad actually. Bf and I were taking a trip on Maine and Bookings.com had a really good deal for Vacationland. We were looking for a place that would get us a bit closer to Acadia since we were driving in from Portland. Vacationland looks really sketchy and is actually pretty giant, but turned out to be a pretty nice place. We went during the off season which might explain why the place was so empty and sketchy seeming, but I think it's probably fine during the summer. The room was HUGE. Seriously. It was amazing. They also had free wifi which as a Millnennial is a thing that I will always appreciate and be thankful for. Amenities were pretty clean, shower, soap, shampoo, they have everything. I like that they put a sink outside of the toilet/shower room which was pretty convenient. Bed was pretty cozy and not gross or anything. All in all, we were really pleasantly surprised by how nice the accommodations were given how cheap it was for a night ~$60 I believe. Free breakfast too! tldr; clean, spacious, convenient, and really conveniently located across from a grocery store, gas station, CVS/Walgreens (can't remember which one) and really really cheap. pretty awesome read more

Absolute disgrace of a hotel/motel that is in a bad - drug infested area. I stayed here in late November, looking for a home in Bangor. Homeless people live in their cars in the parking lot, starting their cars at 3am to warm themselves, broken mufflers blaring into your room while you're trying to sleep. Massive trash pile dump littering the back of the parking lot. The room was tiny with an old 90s TV. The mattress was old and sagging, the blankets were worn and dingy. Inside the bathroom had missing/chipped tiles, and I could remove the towel rack due to the broken fixture. The staff was unprofessional, condescending, and rude during check-in and any interaction I had after. The manager Brad was incompetent, condescending, and unprofessional. This place was a rip-off, literally. read more

A bit pricey better off to go to the Best Western better Breakfast and better rooms and less noisey

My husband and I stay at the this hotel every year for our wedding anniversary. This year our experience was horrible. Too many things to list on why, but when asked by an employee if my stay was good. I processed to tell the employee no, not at all and explained why. The employee made an excuse for everything and never once apologized. Will never go back. read more

Don't stay. We had no hot water, my buddy sat on his bed it was broke but set to look right, Had my wife call because we were our early for a fishing derby. Jessica the manager who lives there to her the water was fine, they had no complaints as we are complaining and my buddy a couple rooms down had the same issue. She said it takes 10 minutes to get hot, we ran the sink, hot side, non stop for 20 minutes while we took cold showers. We asked for the veteran rate my other buddy in another room got she said it wasn't her problem we booked online. absolute trash. the room was gross, cheap beds are terrible they change the price of a Mariott in most places. no we could here the Hispanic help talking loud until midnight not as they worked but as they hung out in the front door way doing nothing. crap service no one can help because the manager shuts you down. Got a number for ashley, who I guess is direct line for owners so thats nots and everyone else I would call her skip that Jessica shes just taking the free ride. read more

This place is horrible!!!!! The first room I was given was right near the road, and was basically a box. When I opened the dresser there were dirty clothes in it! They offered to move me to the back building was was encouraging until I took my dog out that evening and all the drug activity at the end of the building was frightening!!! I decided to give it another night and it was just as bad! People wandering all over the property, wandering the halls, this is a county subsidized housing complex! That should have been disclosed to me before even booking! Not a safe place to stay at all! Needless to say, I left after two days of what was suppose to be a 7 day stay, and was refused a partial refund. Stay away from this place pleased, unless you want to be asked for money by strangers, not a safe place! read more

The seaside room was gorgeous, luxurious, very clean, and somehow pleasantly simple. The staff was kind and efficient. Very nice continental breakfast too! read more

I have read the reviews and can understand each experience. I think the problem is the place's name. If you are expecting Vacationland then one will be very disappointed. If the place was called Motel Eh than the place would be above expectations. The room is clean enough. Be very careful on the pricing. My room was $112 with tax. The advertised rate is not the actual rate because they add an $11 an night facility charge. Its kind of art because there is no pool, exercise room, or any similar amenity. It is just a way for them post a rate slightly lower than nearby places. As for the noise and atmosphere. Lets just say they advertise on their marquis motorcycle washing facilities and there are NO MARIJUANA SMOKING signs on the entry doors. All in all, this is just a highway motel; don't expect vacationland. read more

Terrible customer service- called today to cancel my reservation for tomorrow thru the rest of the week. Was told that because I didn't call by six o'clock (i called at 7p)that I would be charged. Okay- I'd be fine with that if I hadn't done this exact thing a month ago to the same hotel and the same exact time frame. The only difference was the previous time I cancelled it was only to postpone my arrival by one day. They did it no problem, needless to say it was a different clerk today. My job takes me everywhere and sometimes they change my work location only a day in advance which is what happened today. I explained to the clerk that they had done this for me before no problem and I'd appreciate him doing the same. His response to my request was the most unprofessional condescending speak I have ever witnessed from someone working in customer service. He eventually told me he would honor my wish and then HUNG up on me! Stay somewhere else if you want a low key home away from home- if you don't, you will quickly regret it. (Ps- this is just one example of the awful customer service I received) read more

This is the most disgusting place I have ever stayed. It was filthy rotten dirty. The bathroom and the toilet hadn't been cleaned in a long time. We had a free night and had booked for three. I was meeting my husband there and asked him if we could leave in the morning. He didn't want to unpack so we went out all day and didn't return until the evening and left first thing in the morning. People were coming and going at all hours and our view was a dumpster. My husband then asked for a refund and we were told that wasn't their policy, but would give us additional nights!!! Imagine? The dust build up on the headboard and side tables was like something out of a horror movie. The pillows?? Must be 7 or 8 years old. We ran the hot tub and filth came out of the jets. I think the dept of health needs to check this place out. Do Not go this place. I recently reviewed articles from BDN showing there have been drug busts and even a meth lab in this hotel!! Save your money. We were charged $140+ a night mid January. As I said we wouldn't stay for free. read more
