Large touch screen providing local information

This is a really nice hotel. It's pretty new (opened October 2008 I think). My room had a garden view - It was lovely and I would recommend this as the the hotel is situated near a retail park, with the car park to the front. The room was clean and modern, with art throughout, LCD TV, free wi-fi, iron and board, fridge, coffee machine and a great climate control. The bathroom was also a good size, with good lighting. It wasnt completely soundproofed as I could here a neighbouring room through vent (although the person was shouting). I also heard the room above drop something heavy and run across the room. None of this was disturbing though. I went for the breakfast package. It was a light meal and the food was good. I was left wanting more, but it served its purpose. The hotel has a small indoor heated pool and jacuzzi. It wasn't crowded when I stayed. In fact it was empty when I used it - perfect! There's a pagoda in the small garden. The hotel also has a laundry room, a business area with a couple of PCs and printers and an allocated flight check-in PC (great if you're leaving for the airport and the business area is busy). There's also a bar and lounge with a huge TV. There's also a large touch screen with lots of local information (weather, concerts, shopping, news). The restaurant is open planned and situated opposite the reception area. Some of the seating has individual TVs and power points - handy if you want to use your laptop. I only dropped a star as I felt certain necessities were missing for me. My room wishlist would be a magnifying mirror in the bathroom, a full length mirror and perhaps a coffee table. Apart from this, it ticked all thr boxes. I will definitely come back here if I'm ever in Bangor.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the recycle bins!!

LOVED this hotel so much, that I stayed longer than I had planned! This hotel is right off I-95. It is about a 10 minute drive from the hotel into downtown Bangor or downtown Brewer (close, but not walking distance). There is a LOT near the hotel; Target, Walmart, a huge mall, tons of chain restaurants (fast food and sit-down). There is nothing really within walking distance, you would need a car - but all those stores are a very quick drive up the main road - you can see them from the hotel. Acadia National Park is about a 45 minute - to an hour drive away. There is plenty of free parking, and good free wi-fi. This hotel is awesome. First, it is super clean. Second, there is a very friendly staff - everybody was so nice. I loved everything about the hotel. Third, my room was perfect. It was really spacious, and I loved the big bathroom - it had had nice shelving, and a longer-than-usual tub, with like a little bench area; that was so nice. The beds were comfy and the room was spotlessly clean. I had a reservation for 2 days, then added another day, then another; I ended up staying 5 days because the place was so great. They don't feed you at this hotel, so no free breakfast. But, there is a very nice little café in the lobby. There's a Starbucks there and you can order breakfast, then it closes - then opens again for dinner. I didn't eat at this one, but I have at other Courtyards and the breakfast is pretty good. The only thing I got here was good coffee. They also serve alcohol at night, I believe. Now, most important - something I really loved - there was a recycling bin in the room! I travel a LOT, and this is maybe only the second time I have seen that. I always wonder why hotels are not required to recycle. It was surprising because I had just come from a New Hampshire hotel that did not recycle (I thought NH recycled everything!). So, I was happy to see when I got into Maine they had this bin. It made me love this hotel even more. I could go on and on like I usually do, but I won't. This is a great place. Stay here, you won't regret it.

Great place for working, or not!

This was a nice and very clean Marriott. The bed was super comfortable. Only problem we had was standing in line for the laundry.

This is my favorite hotel in the area. The nicest staff and the restaurant is great, just a little expensive. Super clean and quiet.

The hotel lobby, kitchen area, pool, work out room, laundry and whirlpool is kept spotless. The rooms are very spacious and have all you need to cook clean and be comfortable. The breakfast is more than the usual inedible items of the day and edible staples. All the food put out is great, as is the breakfast staff.

There is plenty of parking both public and private (behind a key activated gate) and it's FREE. The lobby is very clean and staff is very friendly. I was able to get approved for a late checkout which is helpful as we are attending the PBR event next door at the Cross Insurance Center. The convenience of being able to walk to any venue at the center is very convenient and worth the costs. I got a king bed suite which has plenty of room and a pull out couch. Bathrooms are huge with plenty of lighting and our room had an oversized walk-in shower. Pressure and water temp were great and I didn't feel like I didn't have any room to move around. Bed is comfortable and like most places the pillows are "eh", where I typically have to stack a couple to get comfortable for me to sleep. The little kitchen has everything you need to cook a small meal for your family if you choose to. Ice maker is built into the freezer making it easy to produce ice without having to walk down a long hallway to find the ice machine. It's full size refrigerator in the suite so we ordered Walmart delivery to bring some snacks and drinks to the room. The Hollywood Casino is located across the street and there is plenty of restaurants and shopping within 2-3 miles of the area. If you are attending an event at the Cross Insurance Center, I would highly recommend that you stay at the Residence Inn both for convenience and comfort. The Timber Kitchen and Bar is located within the hotel but also accessible from outside the hotel. Read about my review with them that you won't want to miss. Overall, I had a great experience and I would stay here again if we attend any events at the Cross Insurance Center, both for the proximity to the venue, but also because I can keep my car parked for free at the hotel.

For a hotel complimentary premade breakfast, theirs was excellent and one of the best we'd ever had. Lots of bacon. They had a very cool touchless pancake maker. Cons: The décor is very dated - we stayed on the 3rd floor that was decorated with a long row of first lady photos along both sides of the corridor hall - honestly it felt like something out of the Shining. There were odd sinks in the hallway near the elevator. The ice machine on the 1st floor was great but the ice machine on the 3rd floor didn't work and on the 2nd floor did not produce a lot of ice. The spa is tiny and no children allowed and the swimming pool is not connected to the hotel but in the parking lot. We wish they'd start the breakfast at 6am on weekends - we had an adventure planned so we had to leave at 7am when the breakfast just opened so we missed that morning. Keep perspective - this is not a posh modern hotel. Once you get used to its oddness, the hotel is a good, more affordable place for a good night's rest. We needed a hotel in Bangor ME for Labor Day Weekend - we checked the major chain hotels and the prices were all super expensive as it looks like they doubled their prices for the holiday weekend. Best Western White House Inn was the most affordable of what we could find. We noticed when we google mapped the hotel location, it was listed in Hampden ME as they are closer to Hampden but the Bangor address must be more desirable.

Staff is always friendly, willing to help and always greet you when you come into the lobby. The continental breakfast is a big reason why I choose Hampton along with the more affordable accommodations compared to other Hilton brands. The experience was no different for the Hampton Inn and Bangor with the exception of the wait time to get our room. Check-In is as 3:00pm and my family and I were not able to get into the room till 4:00pm. I am a Hilton Honors member, checked in the day before and despite all that effort spent an hour in the lobby area waiting for the room to be ready. Non-Hilton members were walking into the lobby whose rooms were ready. I know this because the front desk staff asked them if they would be interested in becoming members during their check-in process. We eventually got up to around room 1 hour later, but only because I got notification on my phone of my digital key being ready. The staff was not the one's who notified us. When I provided my feedback in their email survey, I got the typical response that said sorry and they hope we give them another chance, but my feedback will help improve. They did nothing to compensate me for the 1 hour less of room time I got but paid for. I can empathize with businesses who are short-staffed and the difficulty of hiring quality individuals to fill key customer-facing roles or support staff who make up all the other departments who make a business like a hotel function from day-to-day. I work for a bank, and we too have difficulty hiring quality talent or those willing to go above and beyond just the expected responsibilities.

Great place to stay for an extended time, right in the middle of Bangor Maine…read more It is a little convoluted to get here, but your GPS will take you there. Driving around this area made me think of the term 'as the crow flies'..the term originated in New England and I understand why. Some place that is 500 yards on your map, could take 2 miles to drive. The TownePlace Suites brand is the sister of Residence Inns, both from Marriott...the rooms seem bigger at TownePlace. In fact the space between the TV wall and our bed...it was big enough to easily have a waltz dance competition without bumping into too many things. It's the epitome of 'wasted living space'. We were only staying for one night, but realized it would be a great place for longer term stays. It has a kitchen (with a medium size refrigerator/freezer, electric range, and full kitchen sink). The bathroom is adequate, with shower/tub combo and good hair products (it looks like the Marriott around here have gotten away from those small disposable shampoos and gone to the refillable shampoos stationed at each bathroom). The bed was comfortable and the AC worked well. It has a very large indoor pool, the kind that would be associated with a formal hotel. It has self service laundry. The workout room is 24 hours and includes multiple treadmills, free weights, and ellipical. Free breakfast was included, though it was minimal A couple of hot foods were offered, including an interesting spinach crustless quiche (isn't that a souflee?). The dining area is really nice...perfect to eat carry-out with a group of people if you didn't want to eat in your room.

A nice selection of continental foods and some hot food, Saturday sees sausage and eggs Sunday has bacon! Love bacon and have no idea how they cut it so thin. Loved it. Lots of add ons for cereals hot and could, dairy intolerant options, and great bread selection gluten free muffins too! Coffee station is filled throughout the day into the night, hot cocoa and tea available too. They keep this stocked well too. Want chips or other snacks? They have a small shop with treats and medicine needs to shaving cream and chapstick. Other items as well but did not dig in due to no need. We made use of the pool area and gym, both were clean and well equipped. Lobby area was spacious and a computer/work station. Staff: very good. Breakfast folks did a great job keeping the food stocked almost as fast as people ate. Housekeeping very good with exception to an issue we found early on. I seemed to be the only one to notice. Before check out my husband noticed, therefore we reported. Front desk: friendly and polite at check in, smooth sailing.
