We stayed here to split up our drive to Mount Desert Island. We had a pleasant stay. It seemed recently built and clean. Rooms were nice and as advertised. It was quiet and good for sleeping. Complimentary breakfast. Would recommend.

New and clean. There was a minor issue with temperature in fitness center, and management immediately dealt with it.

For a hotel complimentary premade breakfast, theirs was excellent and one of the best we'd ever had. Lots of bacon. They had a very cool touchless pancake maker. Cons: The décor is very dated - we stayed on the 3rd floor that was decorated with a long row of first lady photos along both sides of the corridor hall - honestly it felt like something out of the Shining. There were odd sinks in the hallway near the elevator. The ice machine on the 1st floor was great but the ice machine on the 3rd floor didn't work and on the 2nd floor did not produce a lot of ice. The spa is tiny and no children allowed and the swimming pool is not connected to the hotel but in the parking lot. We wish they'd start the breakfast at 6am on weekends - we had an adventure planned so we had to leave at 7am when the breakfast just opened so we missed that morning. Keep perspective - this is not a posh modern hotel. Once you get used to its oddness, the hotel is a good, more affordable place for a good night's rest. We needed a hotel in Bangor ME for Labor Day Weekend - we checked the major chain hotels and the prices were all super expensive as it looks like they doubled their prices for the holiday weekend. Best Western White House Inn was the most affordable of what we could find. We noticed when we google mapped the hotel location, it was listed in Hampden ME as they are closer to Hampden but the Bangor address must be more desirable.

The perks for being a member of Best Western were better than most other BW hotels as well (fresh baked cookies, waters and mints in the room). It was quiet even though it was right off the freeway. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Last year we stayed at the Hampton Inn across…read morethe street (you can find my 4-star review), but were a bit jealous of the restaurant/bar in the Garden Inn across the street. This year, we paid the extra $30 to stay at the HGI (plus another $30 for breakfast, which is free at the Hampton). There were a number of minor disappointments at the HGI but nothing compares to the lack of hot water for a shower in the morning, which is baseline to call yourself a hotel. There's nothing quite like a cold shower after a bad night's sleep. Minor disappointments included that there was nobody at the front desk when we tried to check in at about 6 p.m. There was no bell and after 10 minutes of waiting we had to let ourselves behind the counter to knock on the manager's door. It was also really noisy - sound insulation is terrible, particularly from the hallway, which was a behive of squabbling children and teenagers and banging doors all night long. The toilet was mal-adjusted (the float was set above the fill tube) until I fixed it at about 2:00 a.m.

I was a tad turned off by the front desk attendants' attitude. The hotel is nice, the rooms are OK, and the breakfast was good. None of my preferences from my Hilton honors profile got honored, but I was only there for 1 night, so that did not matter much. There was nothing screaming. Stay here again.

My only complaint is that we booked direct and requested the highest possible floor, but when we checked in, they said "great, you're on the first floor." Confused, we asked if there was anything higher (as we previously requested), and they gave us the second floor. We did check in around 8pm, so I normally understand first come first serve, but they called us around noon that day to confirm that we were still coming and we said yes. I was hoping that as a member who has pre-paid AND confirmed they'll be there, you'd honor what they requested. Thankfully the people above us were quiet so it didn't end up being an issue.

See review of Roca Azul, the Mexican restaurant right next door to your hotel:…read more We have been eating at Mexican restaurants for the last 60 years and this is by far the best one that we have ever been to. Everything we had was excellent. I had enchiladas and my husband had a burrito as our entrees. We also had their queso dip with ground beef. OMG! It was ALL amazing! We highly, highly recommend. One thing of note: we were staying at the Marriott Bonvoy's Fairfield Inn right next door. They gave us a list of restaurants nearby and Roca Azul was not on the list. It's right next door! When we got to the restaurant we told our waiter this information. He was surprised but asked if we had our room key from the hotel. We showed it to him and he gave us a 10% discount. And his restaurant is not even on the hotel's list! Of course we informed the front desk that they need to add this restaurant to their list that they hand out to their guests. To Roca Azul: Hopefully, the hotel will do this and you will start getting the gazillion guests who are here at the hotel waiting for their cruise. The entire hotel was full. Support your local and nearby small businesses so add them to your list! Overall cleanliness is also an issue.

Clean and well appointed rooms with all amenities for the long term stays. Small kitchen with eating area for 4, living area for 4, TV in each bedroom and the living area. Our unit had two bedrooms. One for myself and hubby and one for our grandson. We got the breakfast package included in our stay. A nice selection of continental foods and some hot food, Saturday sees sausage and eggs Sunday has bacon! Love bacon and have no idea how they cut it so thin. Loved it. Lots of add ons for cereals hot and could, dairy intolerant options, and great bread selection gluten free muffins too! Coffee station is filled throughout the day into the night, hot cocoa and tea available too. They keep this stocked well too. Want chips or other snacks? They have a small shop with treats and medicine needs to shaving cream and chapstick. Other items as well but did not dig in due to no need. We made use of the pool area and gym, both were clean and well equipped. Lobby area was spacious and a computer/work station. Staff: very good. Breakfast folks did a great job keeping the food stocked almost as fast as people ate. Housekeeping very good with exception to an issue we found early on. I seemed to be the only one to notice. Before check out my husband noticed, therefore we reported. Front desk: friendly and polite at check in, smooth sailing. Check out I informed of an issue we had with our room and gave us the bare minimum for our troubles.
