Was easy to find, check in and out. Cute cabin happy with staying there. Only thing I noticed is the outlets for some reason were too big and my cell phone charging plug kept falling out so I had to hold it in to charge it. Maybe add a charging cord type of plug in a bed side lamp so you don't have to use the wall outlets. Happy with everything thing else. read more

We had a horrible experience with this company! In the first place, it's impossible to reach them. We have a phone number VRBO provided us but they don't answer calls themselves. We leave messages with their service but they never return calls. Additionally, they refer to themselves as SunStays but they are actually SandStays. It has been so hard to receive a refund from them. My family planned a trip to Arizona to attend MLB Spring training and visit the Los Angeles Dodgers facility at Camelback Ranch. We booked a home near Glendale Arizona in late December. Five days before we were due to arrive, SunStays (SandStays) sent us an email / VRBO message advising us that the home we had reserved had an undisclosed maintenance problem resulting in a cancelation. They did not provide a resolution or any alternative. We were also unable to resolve the matter with VRBO and ended up having to book with another provider that turned out to be more expensive. SunStays still has not refunded our payment. We had to go on the trip borrowing money as we did not receive our refund. Secondly, they charged half of the payment upon reservation. The second was due on 1/20. Upon review of our statement, it turned out that they charged the 2nd payment on 1/2/25. Three days after the 1st payment. Very shady. We have proof of bank statement and payment terms. I have called SunStays directly multiple times and they have yet to respond. Very bad service. I hope VRBO delists them. read more

We have been coming and staying in camp ellis for 25 years, and we out grew our old place we had been renting so we looked & booked with this place. We started our stay at 10 beach ave on July 5th, 2025, we came into the rental with the door unlocked, mind you we checked in At 4pm. We couldn't figure out the lock, it was some knob we had to turn it wasn't told to us at check in. ,we couldn't lock the door, reached out to the sandstays they said we will send someone first thing the next morning, however they came at 1pm. We had to stay in our rental till then because our belongs where in here. Do first evening and half day if our vacation was spent in the rental. During this time, we put our belongs away to only find dirty bed linen and pillowcases, the washing machine has dirty linen sitting in the washer, from the previous renter. Thankfully our parents were staying across the way and gave us bedding. Sitting in the living room its missing a curtain and the neighbors can look right into the living room. The kitchen door that looks tight into the kitchen and living has no privacy curtain or shade on it, so everyone walking by can see inside! This rental has a narrow staircase which is fine, however when you get to the top theres a railing that is extremely loose, so loose that my husband who is a big guy leaned on it and said if he leaned anymore he would have gone down the stairs. That night we went out to the yard to do smores which we then found beer cans and red solo cups all over the yard. Along with a large piece of glass, that i stepped on. This yard IS NOT taken care of! Chair are broken glass in the sand coals everywhere. By this point i have gone through the house and cleaned and went out into the yard and cleaned that up as well so my child and dog didn't step on anything. I have reached out to sandstays several times letting them know the issues, they wanted to send maintenance and a cleaner out, however it should have been cleaned and maintenance should have taken care of these things before check in. When requested a partial refund i was told they will give me the cleaning fee back. What?!? $150? I paid $4700 for a week at a place that i had to clean and pick up. Look at the photos. They completely stopped responding when i said i was contacting the owners. They completely ghosted us! This company is loaded with lies. read more

My experience seems to match up with others same tactics. Was charged full cost as opposed to the 50% deposit required. When contacted Sand Stays said they would return half as it was an error or would give me a 10% discount, that was in January and as of yet done nothing. On arriving at property in June it was found to be in deplorable condition and my family could not stay . Unfortunately everyone was so upset we failed to take many pictures (only one of outside which resembled a dump. Nice then we have received little help from them or VRBO, and have been told to stop bothering them with emails. After reading other reviews this seems to be their way of operating. Such a cozy fun stay! Loved the theme, comfy space, and super friendly atmosphere. Close to the beach but distanced enough for privacy. The only "downfall" the shower head hangs low, not made for taller folks. Overall great stay, we recommend and we will be returning! thank you! read more

I'm not sure where I write the review but I think our house was clean...well stocked kitchen...bedrooms had plenty of storage to accommodate suitcases and such...bathroom had good hot water and the extra amenities were great...it was very convenient for us to get to spend time with our granddaughter who goes to college in U Maine and to go down to Bar Hatbor and other mid coast areas...quiet neighborhood although we did get to hear Shania Twain concert on the river downtown which was awesome. A couple of dislikes the back porch was not clean picnic table dirty and chairs so we didn't utilize...suggest a grill for back yard area. All in all...I would rate a 4.9...with a 5 being the highest!...from the Southeast corner of Oklahoma! Thanks and have a great day.... read more

We entered into an agreement in 2024 for Sandstays to manage our property. The agreement stated that we would be paid by the 10th of the following month that it was rented. We had to text and email constantly to get our September payment which we finally received in December 2024. It is now February 2025 and they have still not paid us for October 2024. They will not answer my texts, calls or emails. Property owner beware. read more

My husband and I rented one of Sand Stays properties in Biddeford, ME Property: Renovated Apartment in Biddeford With Water View (8 Piersons Lane) The photos of this place online are admittedly fantastic, but looks are deceiving. We should have known better with the price being so much cheaper than other properties in the area. You are absolutely getting what you pay for here. When we drove up I was so disappointed. From the outside the place looked a little rundown. Property not maintained, overgrown, cracked and weedy driveway, wonky garage doors. I thought maybe it's just the outside? We found the front door, actually you enter 1 door to a covered porch with a door for each unit. Ugh, not just the outside. Entry porch dusty, dead bugs, lots of dog hair and not welcoming or clean. We opened the door to the unit. It is definitely the property in the pictures. Smells funny. Never could pinpoint the smell, maybe a house that used to be heated with oil and the oil tank is still in the basement. We looked around. 'Fully renovated' is laughable. Essentially someone bought a property and slapped a whole lot of white paint on the inside and called it good to rent (and apparently fully renovated, ha-ha). Hole in the wall that I can literally see outside thru, greasy handprints on walls, pet hair covered furniture, broken down sectional, missing fire alarm. Cabinet over the fridge was literally just sawed off to a height to accommodate the fridge and left.... sawdust and all. Open a cabinet and they have only painted inside as far as they could reach. Open another and it looks like no one bothered to wipe it out ever, dust bits, spider webs, bug carcasses. None of this is making us feel like the place is clean. Cleanliness aside, no hangers anywhere in the property or anything else to hang a shirt/dress up with or on. No nightstands, nowhere besides the floor to put suitcases. No shampoo as 'amenities' state. No place to hang up your towel in the bathroom. We've paid for 5 nights already so my husband and I decide to tough it out. Night one a little rough in a double bed since my husband and I are used to a king. No biggie we'll survive. My husband showers the next morning after walking around the place barefoot the previous day, the black is pouring off his feet. Floors definitely not clean. Glad I never took off my shoes! Next night my husband decided to sleep in the other bed to give us both a bit more room. He pulls back the sheets and there is a huge stain (urine?) in the middle of the sheets. Mind you these are not white sheets they are dark gray. Neither mattress has any mattress cover between them and the sheets. And yes, I did check for bedbugs. Urine-stained sheets was the finally straw in grossness for us. We barely slept that night and left early the next morning after 2 days of our 5 day stay. Here's where it gets interesting. When I booked the property, I received a nice email from Derek DeCesere confirming the booking. I sent him back a question and got a response immediately. Nine days prior to our stay, I received a text from Derek telling me if I have any questions, I can text him back at this number. Five days prior to our stay, I received another text asking if we wanted to check in a day or two sooner as they had available nights. Two days prior to our stay, I received another email letting me know we would get check-in info the day prior to our stay. The day prior to our stay, I received an email with all our check in/access info. Lots of communication in the month leading up to our stay. We left the property early morning after our second night. I emailed Derek to let him know that we had vacated the property 2 days into our 5 stay and why. No response! Early that afternoon I copied the email and sent it via text as well as sent an email to bookings@sandstays.com, the email provided under 'contact us' on their website. No response! The day after we left, I get a text from Derek asking if we wanted to stay extra nights as they had availability. WTF?! I responded to that text by copying my original text/email that we had vacated the property and why. No response! Two days after we had left the property, I received both text and email with checkout instructions. Again, WTF?! I replied to both the email and text with a copy of my original email that we had checkout of the property after 2 days. No response! My husband and I have rented properties all over the world for vacations and have never had an experience like this. This property is listed on VRBO, Airbnb, Expedia, Orbitz, Sandstays.com, TripAdvisor, Google, BringFido, FRBO, Rentbyowner and I cannot say strongly enough DO NOT STAY HERE! As if the property itself was not bad enough the absolute ghosting by the property manager is inexcusable! read more
