I will never go to this place....ever. Here is a copy of an email I sent to them to explain why I will never go there.
I cannot even begin to tell you how disturbed I am regarding your campground. My name is Jim Bailey and if you would like to further see who I am, simply follow my link in the signature below, The Yankee Chef. in the meantime, I write for over 200 newspapers, contribute to many websites and so forth. I have only been in Stetson for 1 year and my family and I(consisting of a wife and 4 minor children)are camping enthusiasts. not only did we all just purchase kayaks an, tents and even a camper, I just bought bikes for all my children and myself, along with a bicycle tag-a-long in order to haul my 3year old son around to enjoy Stetson. In the week of June 4th, 2014 my 3 year old and me were taking a bike ride past your camp ground and he pointed to your campground and wanted to take a look, He loves water. I rode my bike and the tag-a-long up to your registration building and asked if we could just take a 5 minute ride to the water so my son could see the lake. You HESITANTLY let us. We took a ride to the shore and stayed no longer than 5 minutes. After we left, I agreed that this would be our place to go camping every weekend when it doesn't rain.
Now it did bother me that the elderly lady hesitated to let us in. Why? Because we weren't there to use any of your resources nor cost you one red penny. You gained another loyal customer for many years that day however because you let us look at the water.
Now the downside. My son and my other minor son took another ride to the site today. I Loyally stopped at the building but this time was a different story. I asked if I could again take my son to see the water. Afterward, we were going to stop and make our very first reservation for this weekend. The same lady said, "Well, you were just here last week. We have to charge you $5 a person". That was the most ridiculous thing that I have EVER encountered with my family. I realize that you need to make a living, but to completely abandon decent human nature is unbelievable. We will never visit your campground now, I will spread the word how lacking you are in common decency and my opinion will be carried much further because of my public persona.
It truly bothers me that you folks are so hard-nosed and greedy that you need to squeeze money out of someone that wasn't going to cost you any. it is a shame and I am deeply annoyed that common decency is not to be seen at Stetson Shores. read more
