I was REALLY REALLY excited about trying this salon based on the positive reviews but after my experience today I will never go back. I booked an appointment with Abu a few weeks ago for a full set. Was planning to also get a pedi but my toes are blistered from running a half marathon a few days ago so I was going to reschedule. My nail appointment was at 4:45 pm. I get a call at 4:43 from a number I don't recognize as I'm trying to park on the street since the parking lot is full. As I'm walking in I see I have a text asking if I'm still coming. I walk in the door at 4:45 pm and see Abu has started a full set on another client. He asks me if I saw his call and I explain that I literally was just parking. I sit for 20 minutes as he continues working on the client during my scheduled appointment time. I finally just said thank you and left. I couldn't justify giving my time or money at that point and based on the work I've seen I'm sure I would've ended up becoming a regular. read more

I've been coming to this salon for a long time. Henry usually does my nails, yesterday, the owner, John who I've never met until yesterday did my nails for the first time. He had a nasty attitude from the moment I sat down, but I ignored it The problem started when I wanted two different polishes and a glitter on top. He tried to charge me $3 for an extra polish and told me there was a 2 polish limit! Which I've never heard of before not at any salon, nor there with any of the other employees! With that being said, I asked him where does it say on the price list that I would have to pay an extra $3 for a third polish? That really grinded his gears, pointing out unfair pricing and refusing to pay for it! Once that was over, he was extremely rude to me and told me to not come back to his salon if I don't want to pay. I honestly wish he would've said that BEFORE I paid, then I really would've showed him who didn't want to pay. Bottom line, I've been a great customer here for a while and was treated rudely and disrespected by the owner. I've brought so many customers to this place, I no longer recommend it!!! Cut the shit out of my toe and I left the salon bleeding and the husband and the wife denied cutting my toe and denied that I was bleeding when I left their salon and refused a refund. The husband was very aggressive with the pedicure he was very rough and he hurt me very bad I spent $75 on a mani pedi combination. Don't go here because they're very shady they should be shut down if they're cutting people. If you don't want to work there and you don't want to help customers then leave but don't take out your anger and frustration out on a customer. This place is serious about safe, clean service. I come here regularly for mani/pedis. Great prices. I'm a nut for hygiene and they always line the pedi bowl with plastic, use gloves and masks, and keep a clean shop. I'm in on a Wed and the shop is hoppin' but I didn't wait more than 5 minutes to get seated. Great place. read more

Again, I am so sad to know that a nail shop so close to me is horrible in reality! I've continuously tried to give this nail shop a chance, and each and every time they make me realize how I made the wrong decision returning. The price of the nails is almost double the amount of a regular nail shop. I personally did not mind, however when I realized how horrible my nails looked- I was disappointed for paying so much for something that looked SO BAD. My nail shape was horrible and the nail polish was filled with alcohol filler, so it was so see-through and rusty looking! I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. This place makes me so happy, finally a great nail salon in the Oak Park area. I swear that I have been to them all and this one is impeccably clean - like out of this world. They use plastic changing sheets each time you get a pedi, each person gets their own set of disposable sponges and scraping tools. Their selection of polishes in gel and regular is up to date, clean and relevant... Not tons of colors you would never choose. The owner has been so polite and friendly without being pushy to me the whole time I've been here. Oh, did I mention my toes are drying as I type this? Yes a lovely bottle of water offered to me and all for the same price you pay at the cheapie ones. Highly recommend. Parking lot in front with lots of spots. Enjoy! read more

This place gave me TOENAIL FUNGUS!!! The "father" did my pedicure and he was really ruff and rude! I asked for Henry or Leo (I've been a customer for two years) and was told that they had to stay available for nails. Now I have to take Lamisil once a day for four months and NO ALCOHOL! Just nasty! I'll never trust these little quick, unsanitary nail shops again. read more

I went here as a walk in. I got acrylic nails and they did not go all the way to the bottom of my nail. They also didn't trim my nails so my real nails stuck out in the back. Ohhhhhhhhhh emmmmm geeeeeeeee. I don't even know where to start. I just moved back to this area after living in LaGrange, where I obviously found a nail salon I loved. I think the worst part of moving is trying to find a new nail technician. Anyways, I saw this place didn't have many reviews, but for the most part, they weren't terrible. First thing I appreciated was that their dip manicure was only $37. They can typically run anywhere from 40-60, so the small discounted rate was appreciated. However, when I got there, I was pretty surprised by the loud, obnoxious clientele. That already was a big turn off (granted, the staff can't do much about the type of clients they receive, so I cant hate them for that). When I got there, I was seated right away, chose my color (I was pretty annoyed that the brands of dip color they carried were not as luxurious as the brands they carried at my old nail salon) and the process began. I already had old dip polish on my fingers so it needed to be removed. Instead of doing the traditional removal where they stick the tiny cotton ball soaked with acetone and wrapped with tinfoil around your finger, they had me dip my hands in warm acetone. I absolutely HATE that because it destroys the skin on my fingers. Once that was done, he started drilling/removing the remainder of my polish. I was watching one of their TVs and once he finished, he asked me if I wanted to even out the length. I was completely confused because all my nails have been the same length. He drilled one of my nails so much, that it broke! I LOST IT and completely SPIRALED! I know it's a 1st world problem, but I have been growing my nails successfully for 3 months and I was so happy with the length. About 2 months ago, my nail has a small crack and my old technician was able to salvage it with the dip powder. But this place completely ruined my hard work of growing my nails!! I just wanted to cry. I told him there was absolutely no way he was cutting down the rest of my nails and he should have noticed the small crack in my nail instead of completely removing it! Ugh, I didn't even get to say goodbye (yes, I'm being dramatic, I wasn't really going to hold a funeral for it). At that point, I just wanted to get out of there. I told him to apply my polishes and just move on. Luckily, possibly because of the color I chose and the extra layer of powder, the slightly shorter nail is not that noticeable. My nails do look fairly decent, but all these small issues added up to me not wanting to return to this salon. read more

I felt a little swindled as I was accidentally forced into a $40 dollar gel pedicure thinking I was getting a $20 gel color change, but overall amazing experience. the polish stayed for WELL OVER TWO MONTHS! I went to V1 nails because I moved close by and it came up as one of the higher reviewed nail shops in my area. I just went to get a no chip manicure to test it out. A girl named MyMy took care of me. She was so detailed with my manicure. During my manicure, I noticed she opened a brand new kit with a cuticle pusher and trimmer that she used just for me. She made sure my nails were shaped exactly how I wanted and left my cuticles so clean and even! (My cuticles are a huge factor for my manicure experience). She did three coats (at my request ) and the color came out so even, smooth, and perfect! I will definitely be returning for their no chip Mani and pedi. read more

Have been going here for over a year now. I usually had no problems, just an occasional nail popping off every once in a while but not frequent enough to stop going back. I went at the beginning of this month and got an acrylic full set with no chip as usual. I took my nails off after about 2 and a half weeks and there is a fungus growing on my pinky nail(almost covering my entire nail). Most likely won't be back because it's not worth the risk even though prices are pretty good. read more

I hadn't planned on coming to this place to even begin with, I had chosen it legit 30 minutes before walking in, but I'm soooo glad I chose this place! The guy that took care of me (I wish I had asked for a name) did such a wonderful job on my nails. He took his time to shape them, he had actually pointed out that one of my fingers was crooked which I of course already knew, but every previous nail tech I've went to didn't care to let me know to justify the crooked nail but he did which proved that he cared about the quality of his work. After he was done painting them, he took a small brush with nail polish remover to take away any excess nail polish around my my nails, and this has only happened one other time. To finish off, while I was waiting for the polish to dry, he offered me a bottled water while I waited! Maybe I've been going to the wrong nail salons this whole time, but their service was great! My friend recommended this place to me so I went last night for a mani/pedi. I have nothing but great things to say about it and I would recommend anyone I know to go there, even if it is out of your way. The very first thing I noticed is they put plastic liners in the sinks. Such a nice touch and made me feel like it was way more sanitary than all of the other nail salons I have been to in Oak Park. And not just that, but they also use a fresh file and pumice stone/sponge for every customer. Another huge mark in my book! Normally you only get that with pedicures that cost double that at high end salons. And talk about cost, they are right in line with every other nail salon in Oak Park. Plus they do little extra touches like use sea salt in their scrub, and then a combination of lotion and oil for the massage. Another huge thing is their loyalty program. On your 6th visit, you get a pedicure free! What a great incentive! I've seen a free manicure after a certain amount of visits, but a free pedicure? What's not to love?? Great selection of polishes...super friendly staff...cozy massage chairs... I've found my new "go to" spot in Oak Park and I hope you give it a shot too. You won't be sorry. I recently moved to the area and have checked out V1 a few times. Definitely a fan of them! Their prices are lower than other Chicago shops ($50 for a no-chip mani, and pedicure), they are timely, and they do a good job. I wish I could get my no-chip to last closer to three weeks than the two weeks, however, for $50 for the no-chip and the pedicure, I'm good with it! read more

This nail salon is immaculately clean. They use liners for the pedicure bowls and sponges and scraping tools once and get thrown away. The employees are very nice. Tammi does a great job on gel nails. It's great to finally have a nice clean nail place in oak Park! read more

I've been going to this place for over 2 years and it definitely use to be great-It seems like there is new management or something, but the past three times I've gone, my no-chip manicure has lasted just a week. I also tried this sand type manicure which lasted just over a week (I was told at least 2). Although the no-chip is just $30, when you have to go every week, it's better to just spend more initially for a manicure that lasts. I'll be looking for a new place. read more
