I had a very disappointing experience at Polish Nails and Spa. We came in for a basic pedicure with no polish service requested. During the pedicure, the nail tech noticed staining on my nails and assumed it was no-chip polish that needed removal. Even after I repeatedly explained that it was only a stain and not no-chip, the nail tech began drilling my nails without asking for permission first. To make matters worse, the front desk staff and nail tech refused to listen to my explanation and still increased the price for services they decided to perform on their own. We never requested extra services, and we were not even getting polish applied afterward. A customer should always be informed and give consent before additional services are performed and charged. Unfortunately, this experience felt dismissive, unprofessional, and very frustrating. I would not recommend this salon based on how this situation was handled. read more

I would love to give this nail salon 5 stars, but due to it being a little difficult to reach a person to schedule an appointment a lot of the time--I am giving them a 4. Scheduled 5 pedicures for me and my family on a Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, disappointed we couldn't all sit together but made it work. Let me preface this: my nail tech did a good job and was quick. I felt in the beginning she was not personable and that she was annoyed that I wanted to move seats. She warmed up to me and my experience was great. I got the $55 spa pedi with the scrub, lotion, hot wax and massage. Salon vibe: overall the salon and setup is very nice. I loved that the drying station was at the window front so I could people watch outside and enjoy my coffee. What would make this place even better if they were a BYOB or offered coffee--would put them up a notch in my book. Overall, satisfied with my experience but wished they had more options and experience with doing different types of pedicure techniques (like ombré, adding gems, etc.). I will be back again though! Went for a pedicure first time at Polished, My tech was not very personable, I am not a chit chat type, but she didn't even respond, when I did talk to her. I didn't even get a scrub or massage like the guy next to me did. After that experience I decided I'm not going back or at least not back to that tech .. Then I went on vacation and when I returned home, and removed my nail polish..... my big toe's have fungus that has grown under the nail, and 2 nails on my hand. Now, I won't go back, at all. I did and twenty minutes later...50 minutes after my original appt time, the technician was still working on her previous client. Like many of you, my day is scheduled with work and family obligations. Appointment times mean something to me, and I honor them. Having this salon blow right through them is really frustrating. **** HORRIFYING EXPERINCE **** I walked into the polished salon in oak park on 2/6/24 around 5pm. I showed the receptionist who I later found out was the owner a picture of the design I wanted to get done. She confirmed they could do this particular style and brought the Nail tech (Izmar) to the front and she confirmed she knew how to do this style. I asked for the price which was $115.0 and I agreed for her to start. Once I sat down in the techs chair as she was starting the foundation of my Gel X nails -I noticed her process was different then what I am used to with getting Gel X. She was one the phone talking to someone majority of the time. Once she got of the phone I informed her that two of my nails were crooked. She agreed that one nail was crooked and told me that the other nail was not crooked it was just my finger is crooked. I told her that was odd because my finger was not crooked before when getting these done by someone else. We agreed that she take both nails off and redo them. Once we starting doing the design I noticed the process was not going correctly so I politely said " if this design is too complicated I understand we can do something basic". She reassured me she knew what she is doing ...I decided to trust the process and let her continue. The Nail Tech starts doing the flower part of the design and stops midway during my nails and says quote " I'm sorry this design is too complicated for me." WHICH I ALREADY KNEW AS I WATCHED HER STRUGGLE DOING THEM. She also informed me after that she didn't have everything needed to complete the design. Due to the fact that she could not complete the design I told her to take it all off and I will pick a solid color ---once the process is complete and Its close to 8PM and I am leaving the salon without what I originally asked for. Now all I have is basic gel X with NO design one color polish and the tech rings me out and tells me my total is $85.00.......the starting price is $65.0 I have no designs just PLAIN POLISH. The tech proceeds to tell me the reason she is charging me $85 and not $65 is because she had to take off the prior design .......THE DESIGN THAT SHE COULD NOT COMPLETE BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T HAVE THE SKILLS TODO AND DIDN'T HAVE ALL THE PRODUCTS TO FINISH. How is this my fault as the customer ? Why would you agree to something knowing you can't ? Why wouldn't you confirm that you have all the products necessary before you start ? and you are going to charge me for YOUR negligence??? I THINK NOT....I spoke to the owner and we agreed on $65.00. The owner also told me that normally they would charge $75.00. On the phone someone told me the starting price is $65 for basic one color polish(which is what I received)---the tech rings me up for $85......and now the owner is telling me $75 Soooo what is the correct cost ??? This is not rocket science...my nail salon experience with them has been forever ruined. When you get your nails done it's supposed to be a calming experience ---not all this back and forth. Moral of the story its ok to say NO--please do not say you can do designs and you can't. She couldn't even do something as basic as French tips. Also she is not doing Gel X properly!! I would not come here for Gel X AT ALL!! Side note: I used to come to polished all the time in high school they did my nails for both proms and Hoco every year. They used to be good/reliable. It's a shame that now they can barely do a basic/simple application. I still have to go to another salon to have them take these off due to the poor application. When I asked how much longer it would be, I was told that the person who would be doing my mani/pedi had left, but she would be back soon. SHE LEFT. What was the point of even scheduling an appointment?! I have been to this place before, and the work is hit or miss. Half the time they don't even answer their phone so you can schedule an appointment, but I guess that doesn't matter, since having an appointment doesn't guarantee they they will get to you anyway. If you want to go to a place where they look you in the face and make you feel like you and your time don't matter, this place is for you. Usually when I get a no-chip manicure it ends up chipping within the first week. Last few times I've had my nails done here my manicure has lasted way longer than other salons. I had a 4:30 mani/pedi appointment. My pedi started at 4:30 as expected and she wrapped my fingers with acetone to remove the dips I had. Pedicurist tech was lovely and did a GREAT job. When she finished- I was told the manicure tech was a little late and would be there soon. I waited and waited. The staff apologized but all the other techs had appointments. I waited more. Finally- AN HOUR LATER (or more) she finally showed up- obviously flustered. She rushed through my mani and cut my cuticle which I noticed on the way home. I didn't get out of there until 6:30 which made me late to the other things I had to do. It wasn't like I could just take off since there was acetone on my nails..... for over an hour..... I am extremely disappointed to say the least. Immediately upon sitting down I informed the technician that I have some breakage on my two big toes and would need acrylic applied and she said ok. She proceeded with the pedicure and I asked her as we went into the polish stage would she apply acrylic and once again she said yes. She didn't, instead she went to apply polish and once I verbally stopped her it was clear she didn't understand me. She called over another technician who put on the acrylic very fast and did no shaping nor sanding. The original nail tech simply applied polish. As you can see from the pictures this looks like a child attempted this pedicure. The manager on duty wasn't exactly accommodating and insisted that they "fix-it" but at this point I've lost faith that I would get a good quality product. This was such an inconvenience as now I have to find another shop to undo this poor quality work that I received. read more

I visited this place to get help getting my press-ons off. I walked in and the lady behind the desk said they can fit my in about 30 mins. I come back in 15 mins and wait in their waiting room for the rest of the 15 mins. They don't come up to me so I brushed it off and assume they are running behind, I said what's another 15? I'll just look for a nail color in the meantime and search on Pinterest what design I want. I wait and 45 mins (45 mins after the 30 mins they originally mentioned), the lady behind the desk finally comes up to me and asks to see my nails. The main nail tech finally sees my nails and says that it'll take a long time to get these off. I can take a hint and assume she wants to come back another day. I told her I can return anytime this week since I live close by and I work from home. I make my appointment for Friday in the afternoon. Friday comes and it's about half an hour before my scheduled appointment, I receive a call from the nail tech and she sound so upset that I answered. She told me that she couldn't take me today because they are over booked. I calmly said no worries, some other and we hung up. I wanted to give this place a try because they are new but I can't know how good they are if they keep canceling on me. I am open to giving them another chance but if they make me wait more than 5 mins next time then I am never returning and not recommending to the homies. To the team at Polished Nails, please stop overbooking your team. This only creates problems with your team and the customers so please, give your team a breather between clients and book clients accordingly so we don't spend so much time waiting after our scheduled time. I am giving them two stars instead of one because this place is very clean, the atmosphere is great, the people are friendly. They are just very disorganized when it comes to scheduling. read more

I got gel X with nail designs (85$ + tip) and it only last 1 week before they started to lift. The time before that, I got regular gel & it started peeling after only 1 week too. Both times I didn't like the nail designs & they weren't anything hard, I actually asked them just to remove it the first time. Hate leaving bad reviews! :( I just can't do anything about it now & don't want people to have the same issue especially if you're paying so much. I would make sure you ask who is known for nail art AND experienced with gel x or acrylic beforehand & booking with them only if that's what you want. read more

I used to go the old location all the time and it was great. Since the new location opened, I have been twice for basic mani/pedi. The first time, I waited over 30 mins despite having an appointment and no one assisted me so I left. The second time I was helped a few minutes past my appointment time and received a pretty bad pedicure and an absolutely inexcusable no chip manicure. I had to instruct the nail technician to remove my existing polish before putting the new polish on, had to ask her several times to fix my cuticles and when she actually painted my nails, the polish went on thick, uneven, and all over my skin. I wound up asking her to remove it entirely and she even managed to damage my nails in doing so. I will never be back. read more

The nail tech did not speak to me or say hello. She did a quick to basically nothing job on my cuticles. She did a foot scrub for about 20 seconds. She did not buff my nails at all. I had a broken nail in which she used dip powder on but didn't bother to buff it. I had to ask her to fix the paint because it was very messy but she thought I was done. She was annoyed of course.
