I am sitting at Harlem Nails and writing this as my nails dry. I've been to pretty much every nail salon in the area, with the exception of Haem Nails, and I've no idea why I haven't been here, however, this is my new nail salon. Minh did my pedicure and it was the most thorough, professionally done pedicure I've had in years. My feet are pretty much the happiest they've ever been! Cuticles perfectly trimmes, heels smooth as a baby's tushie. This was a full service pedicure, and I am so pleased. The shop us clean, and pleasant as well. Even the other customers were nice! My ONLY complaint is that one or two of the gentlemen who work here smoke next to the door. And the door was open, so while I was drying, the cigarette smoke was blowing in and I was breathing it in. Having just spent several days on hospital with a lung ailment, I didn't enjoy the smoke. Otherwise I had no complaints. I'll be back, and thanks to Minh. read more

Pedicure? 10/10! Would definitely recommend. I wish I would've caught the lady's name because she was super friendly and very personable. The fill in manicure? Complete 180 unfortunately which is the reason for the 3 star review. I was in town for work and hadn't had a chance to get a fill and a pedicure in weeks. I had a chance to cut my workday a little short and the first thing I did was look for a salon. This place has great reviews and it was only about 10 mins away from where I was at so I headed on over. I was greeted with a smile and there were other customers present. I let the lady know what I needed and she lead me to the pedi chair. I went with the paraffin pedi, I think it was about $40. She did a wonderful job! I was then lead to station #5 for my manicure. This is where my experience goes south. I wear my nails natural with clear acrylic on them to keep my nails from chipping or breaking. I told the receptionist I wanted a fill when I first got to the salon, but the manicurist never even said hello when I greeted her when I sat down in her chair. She never asked me what shape, how long, nothing. She just started her work. I let her do it, simply because I know my nails will grow back and hopefully this is a learning experience for her to ASK WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTS. I prefer a wider nail with a square tip, she made them super narrow and like a rounded/coffin almost look? Not what I wanted at all. Cut them waaayyy shorter than I wanted too, but again, she would know this if she bothered to speak ONE WORD to me. She speaks when she's finished because she sees the tip I left (the lady who did my pedi didn't deserve to suffer because of her service and I am a 20%+ tipper to people in service usually unless the service is just unfathomable) but I'm going to be honest I was not a fan of my manicure at all. read more

Even though I've been coming here for a few years now, no one seems to remember who I am lol. At least they don't seem to acknowledge, remember me or are happy to see me ever even though I am a kind and good customer. I ask for the same person to do my nails every time because I've had the best experience with him out of everyone else regarding the quality of my nails. The place is just OK. There's nothing exceptional about it. I thought the place was fine until I had a few bad experiences. In my last bad experience I've decided never to come back. My appointment was for a fill in, and a basic pedicure and I was there for 2 and 1/2 hours. In my opinion, each service I had should only take 45 minutes each. You know that feeling you get when you've been in a place where you've been longer than you should be and you're starting to get antsy? That's how I've felt the past few times I've been there. I always make an appointment at 5 PM but of course for some reason you make the appointment and you still sit there for 15 minutes before they take you. In other instances they will fake me out, by starting my nails and then leave me to sit there for another 15 minutes while they do other peoples nails. This last time I got my nails done on a Friday. I didn't get out of there until 7:30PM. I came home and immediately one of my nails cracked, then the next day another one cracked. I came back on Monday to ask that they fix them. It was two nails, it couldn't have taken that long. I am a customer that already came in and spent hours getting my nails done and the same day they broke. I walked over to the salon on foot, and she told me to come back at 7 PM, so I walked all the way back home. I came back at 7 PM and I still had to sit there and wait for them to fix my nails. They never apologize. They don't take any responsibility. Now, another one of my nails cracked. I'm going to go to another salon and pay them to fix my other broken nail before I go on vacation. My time is precious and I will not go back there for the 3rd time in a week to wait for them to fix my nails yet again. In addition, it's not a clean salon, there was a piece of mold, floating around in my pedicure bowl regardless of the plastic cover they use. Getting my nails done is not a relaxing experience when I go there. It's nothing but aggravation every single time recently It's such a shame, because I would really like to support this business, but they have not treated me like they value my business. read more

I went in for a basic manicure and pedicure. The gentleman working on me had a consistent cough and runny nose throughout the service and would either cough with his mouth not covered or was blowing out of his nose without Kleenex. When doing my hands, he continued to cough and have a runny nose. He didn't use any gloves this time around and I'm certain the tools he used were not sanitized. The man next to me getting a manicure by a woman had tools that came out of sanitized bag and the woman wore gloves. I was not happy to see that there was an inconsistency in service cleanliness. The man never took the time to ensure my nail lengths were even after cut them and almost have my nails had rough edges that would need to be filed further. I was cut during the service as well. This made me nervous as the cleanliness of the tools was questionable and I didn't want to get an infection. Also, the gentleman had me wait about 20 mins while he finished in the back room. I still gave him a tip as I understand people need to make a living. I got my nails done on Friday and by today (Sunday) they are already chipping. I would not return for further services. read more

Owner admitted that she profiled me when I walked in the door and threw a pen at me as I walked out bc I didn't agree to them charging me extra without them telling me about it until I was paying. Called in for a dip appointment and pricing. I was told $50. When I was there I showed the shape of the nail I usually get and could only achieve it by adding tips. Which is advertised on their sign for $5 more. I agreed. I wasn't happy with the color selection so I asked if they had chrome options. I've never done chrome before but always liked how they looked on other people. AFTER 2 HOURS my service was done. The shape and length still weren't what I had asked for via the pic but I was tired of sitting there for so long already. I went to pay and they were charging me $75. I asked why the price diff and they said bc of the shape and adding chrome. I explained how I was never told about it being more expensive for either of those while sitting down getting my service. Her response was "I assumed you were a professional and knew that. Other salons charge extra $25 for chrome. I'm giving you a discount." I argued with her that I agreed to the $55 price as discussed and nothing more. She kept trying to assault my intelligence saying that I should have known better and I have to pay $75 or else sit down and they will remove my nails. I explained how I didn't have any time left after sitting there for 2 hours already and I agree to pay the advertised pricing they have posted on the wall and nothing more. She got more aggressive with her personal attacks and finally said "I'll charge you $65 that's it. It's your fault you don't know these things." I replied "it's your fault you don't post accurate pricing on your wall or discuss potential up charges. I thought you were a professional, no nail salon I've ever been to takes 2 hours to do a dip set." She admitted to me that as soon as I walked in she profiled me and gave me off to a different tech bc she knew she wouldn't want to service me. I am disappointed that I feel the need to write this review, because my first experience getting a pedicure at this salon was great. My second time coming here was the total opposite. This is honestly the worst pedicure I have ever had. Firstly, I don't think it's sanitary to smoke a cigarette before giving someone a pedicure. Also, it's not sanitary to continue to sneeze and cough out in the open as well as wiping your nose with no tissue. Secondly, I was cut badly but luckily I was given some alcohol to avoid infection. Thirdly, the paint job is terrible. It is still all over the skin around my nails. After I said something about it, I was told that I just needed more coats but that wasn't the issue. The issue was how horribly it was painted on my nail and how poorly the nails were prepped to get a smooth finish. The person tried to take it off while painting my nails but since it was already curated on my skin, it hurt. I wouldn't have paid for this service but I wanted to be respectful to the business. read more

The last time I was there, they put BOTH of my index finger nails on crooked, & BOTH of my middle finger nails just "fell off three days later"!!! I returned to have the middle nails fixed. The girl put the nails on crooked AGAIN, & when I called her out on it, the girl told me "Maybe you shouldn't be getting acrylics"!! They should not blame their customers for their shoddy work!
