I got a manicure back when Legend Nails first opened. It was ok, the nail tech did a good job and it lasted for over a week which isn't bad for regular polish. But the entire place had an extremely strong smell of nail polish. It's almost like they don't have a strong ventilation system or maybe it wasn't on. They were able to squeeze and niece and I in New Year's Eve. We both got the dip nails with tips, with an ombre design on the index finger. Both ladies who did our nails were very kind, detailed and did an excellent job. My nails lasted well over 3 weeks, my niece's lasted a week (she is rough with her nails though). Well I wish even one review mentioned it's very difficult to find parking here. They are on the corner of a residential block, on Montrose about 30 feet from the on ramp to the Kennedy Expressway. No parking lot off an alley or anything. Down about 100 feet more is the Montrose El station. Meaning, all nearby street parking requires residential permitting (otherwise everyone would use the streets as an El parking lot). So: if you can walk here or take public transportation, fine. I drove, and found a semi legal parking spot a couple blocks away. Then I realized it was winter and I was not going to walk 2 blocks gloveless and in sandals afterwards -- in a strip mall parking lot, that's fine. My only issue is that every time my mother and I come in here, there's few people working, the male who works there often reveals too much about his personal life that a customer should not know, flirts with his customers and when the owner is busy, she has her daughter do my nails. Personally, if I'm paying to get my nails professionally done, I would like a professional to do them, not a child or someone who shares a little too much with me. read more

I would NOT recommend getting your nails done here . Let's start by saying I sat in the nail technician chair for 2 hours just for one set of nails . Than I get hold and my pinky nail instantly broke . I asked her to write the name "gudda" on my nails and the writing looks like a 6 year old did it and Lastly but not least they have something going on with your nail polish because it's only been a day and my "pink" nails are turning dirty orange on the tips . Called at 1:20 for two pedicures and a full set. Guy put me on hold came back and said come at 2. We were 35 mins away decided to head this way. We don't get taken in till 2:15. Even then my pedicure starts and my husband sits in the seat with water for 25 more mins. This place is fantastic. The workers are meticulous and work so hard to do a quality job. It may take a while, so block off a couple of hours for a mani/pedi. But it's time well spent. I went 3 days ago, and my normal manicure (which would be super chipped if I went elsewhere) is still almost flawless. Any chips are from heavy cleaning around the house, which is to be expected. I really like to support local businesses, so I'm really sorry to leave a negative review. I got a great no-chip mani-pedi, but it took 2.5 hours! I'm not exaggerating at all. I appreciate how meticulous the guy was, and I acknowledge I had no-chip on my toes that needed to be removed. The guy was very nice but disclosed that he was exhausted because he often works 100 hrs a week, works 7 days a week, and only gets 4 days off per year. I had a 1pm appointment for mani-pedi, left the salon at 3:30, and missed a 4pm appt in Lincoln Park for which I got charged. Sadly, I won't be going back. read more

I've been to Legend Nails a few times. Each time they were able to accommodate me. I have called the day before or the day of to get an appointment and I've always been able to get in. The staff is very nice. My complaint comes with the quality of work. I usually get the dip powder. The service is just the dip powder, I never get a manicure with the service. So I'm paying $35 for color only. My cuticles don't get trimmed or pushed back, nothing. When the dip is applied it doesn't go down to the cuticle and on the sides you can see areas not covered. The quality of the work is reflected in the time taken to do the service. One time, when my nails were drying from the top coat, my nail tech went to go do her own nails. I sat "drying" for 15 minutes. I eventually got up and said I was ready to pay. Overall this place is ok. I'd rather pay more to get the quality work and not look at all the mistakes left on my nails. read more

No Chip didn't last...First, let me tell you, I was so happy to have a clean, friendly neighborhood salon to go to for a mani pedi treat. We have been several times. This last time my no chip mani chipped within a week. I'm pretty sure it was the mood color changing polish. Usually my no chip manis last more than 2 weeks. I returned within a week, told the owner that it didn't last and noted that her light was glitchy, it kept going out, on the day she did my nails. She had to flip the guide tray around because it was put in backwards. In response to my reminder her response was that my hand was too big for her light. This was the owner. So highly offensive I didn't say another word except to ask what did I owe her. Then she charged me an additional $20 to fix the polish! That's more than list price for a polish change. So now I've paid $80 for two no chip polishes that chipped. She double charged me and two days later the polish is chipped again. Typically I am all about patronizing local businesses but I will not return to this one. Buyer beware Legend Nails' no chips don't last and they overcharge you to correct it. Any other salon if it has been within a week will fix or replace the color no charge, or at the very least just charge $11 for a color change. This place is a rip off. There are plenty of other salons in the area with working lights and no chips that are really no chips. read more

I find myself passing closer to home salons to continuously come here because I've never had my manicure stay in good condition for so long! I left my old place because after my no-chip (or powder dip or acrylic) manicure they always started chipping or pulling up from the base of the nail after only a week or less, you know where your hair starts getting stuck in there every time you touch your head?! Since working with Kim, I've stuck to dip powder (which they have a huge selection of along with no chip colors) and my nails will look great for almost 3 weeks! They've also been growing faster than ever. It's a small family business which I'm glad to support but just know they are very meticulous about doing a great job so it definitely takes a while.
