I used to get my acrylic nails done here all the time until one day I asked for "coffin" and they made a weird square shaped nail that was uneven. Today, after 6 months, I went back for a full set done by Kim and once again extremely unsatisfied. I asked for long square nails and she does it extremely thin. Once again, all uneven. She then tells me she made them "medium" but still charged me for a long set of nails. Not to mention she cut me a few times & didn't use clean supplies. Long story short, they're ugly and I want them removed already. Don't get your acrylics done here.

They really pay attention to skin and will have all the dead skin removed. One person did my gel mani and someone else did my gel pedi. Both managed to get gel polish on my skin. I was a little upset when I saw this flaw but when I went to pay it was only $47 so I was happy in the end. I had an awesome experience this time. I rated 4 star because a previous experience I got acrylic nails done and they all broke off or cracked within a week. I shared that experience with a friend and she knew what spa I talked about and she said the same thing happened to her.

***IN EXTREME PAIN*** Ladies/ Gents: Save your time and money! I never write reviews, but I really felt the need to warn anybody who reads this post. It was my first time at the salon and everything was fine until I sat on the chair and the water temp was mediocre, I had an odd feeling about the service...but thought I'd give it a chance since I had seen/ passed the salon for so many years and being a local, why not give it a try, right? Wrong! My nail tech proceeded with my pedicure, nothing unusual until she felt the need to dig around my toes for an ingrown nail. I was in severe pain! She cut the sides of my toe nails several times and she didn't even care to apologize for her mistake. My face showed severe pain and discomfort, but my nail tech still proceeded with the pedicure as if everything was ok. TMI: My toes are pulsing at work today and I just pressed on my left toe and puss came out from the right side. Please save your $30 dollars and go elsewhere!

I had to cover my bloody cuts from a bad nail tech. Simple acrylic nail removal was so painful. Please don't go here.

Please do not go here. They have cut me many times and the conditions are unsanitary. If you have to go there then beware and make sure not to let the man with tattoos and slicked back hair help you. He does not know what he is doing and cut me so bad that I I had to put bandaids on bloody cuts from the nail shop. He hurt me so bad that I cried. A simple acrylic removal turned out to be so painful. I was bleeding and this is not the first time that this shop has hurt me. I won't go back ever again. Please don't go to this place. I feel so traumatized. Paying customers deserve better, human beings deserve better.

Ask for Kim or Kwin. They do the best gel manicure! The girls really take their time to remove cuticles and there is no bubbles when they add the gel color. Call for an appointment because the wait time can be a long, but if you go during the week and early then you'll be lucky to just walk in! Gel manicure is $20!

Third time coming here, service is always good this time I got a black French tip pedicure. I also got gel polish and my total came out to $53. they give you a nice foot massage, an exfoliating scrub, followed by a hot towel and some lotion. I got attended by an older gentleman he was very nice, I was very relaxed and enjoyed the service overall. I wanted to get my acrylics done but they did let other people coming in, know that wait time is an hour so I'd say call in advance to check their schedule. They take their time which is a good thing for me, I enjoy relaxing and I'm the same way I like to take my time when I'm good at something read more

I came to this place for the first time 10 years ago and idk why I didn't come back again but I went back 8/2/24 with my son and we both got a pedi. The service was AMAZING hand in hand with the Quality of the service and vibe. They were very friendly and I was in love with how my toes turned out. I will definitely recommend this place and go back every 2 weeks. read more

Mt true rating is 0.25 star!!! I arrived at 9:30am and waited an hour for Kim to do my nails. I even asked the only employee nail technician to please call her to see if she could do my nails and I was waiting for her. He said she said yes. Now the sign says they open at 10am but the rest of the staff came in at 10:35am. I told Ms. Kim Iwas referred by my coworker and wanted to get my nails dipped and polished. Kim was rude and not welcoming. She never said good morning or hello, but retorted I can not do you I'm busy. I said the technician call you to ask if you could do me. That's why I waited an hour for you!! She said no I'm busy get someone else can di you. You don't have an appointment. And walk away rudely. Now I'm not sure what busy is because I was the only customer in the entire shop. Please save yourself. The technicians can barely speak English, the parking is a nightmare, and Ms Kim is unpleasantly rude, unaccommodating, and insensitive. I will never ever step foot in this establishment again. read more

worst experience of my life ! Lady sat me down for my pedicure to soak then disappeared! was left soaking for 25 minutes in cold water! I wouldn't have mind waiting in the seating era but to just leave me in cold water being completely ignored was awful ALSO NOT HYGIENIC lady didn't even clean tools from Past clients very gross will not recommend. read more

After the assault and battery, I developed Acute Stress Disorder, which is a precursor to PTSD. I experienced severe anxiety and daily panic attacks in the weeks following the event. After being physically beaten by four employees, I had been experiencing dizziness, lightheadedness, daily pressure headaches, nausea, and memory loss, so I went to the Emergency Room. I was diagnosed with Post-concussion Syndrome due to the head injuries the employees imposed on me. The ER doctor stated that traumatic brain injuries could last a few weeks to a few months, and sometimes a year. Biochemical changes to the brain may occur after the traumatic brain injury and psychiatric illnesses may have their onset months to years after the traumatic brain injury. These 4 employees that locked me in their establishment and repeatedly kicked and punched me, increased my risk of developing psychiatric illnesses such as Major Depression and PTSD. I developed alopecia and began experiencing severe hair loss. Shortly after being battered, I developed a tumor on my breast. They will charge you an amount greater than listed on the board and after you pay them the inflated rate they asked, they will lock you in and beat you until you get a concussion. They have no regard for human life. read more

I got a facial wax by Kim and she did a terrible job. She was not careful when pulling the gauze and ended up ripping my skin off. She left me with superficial scaring and extreme discomfort which caused me to go to urgent care and I was prescribed ointment to ease the pain and accelerate healing. read more

I was a bit skeptical to come in at first because I am very picky with my who touches my nails. However, after leaving the salon I was 100% pleased. First, I was attended right away. I went in for both a manicure/gel application and a pedicure. The person working on my manicure took their time and did a very clean job. The person handing my pedicure cut my nails without hurting me. Eventually more people started coming in and I expected them to be in a rush after that. To my suprise they still took their time and did an excellent job. My over all experience was great! It's a lokey place which is great because it's not annoyingly packed. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a relaxing place to get your nails done. As a plus they have relaxing music and they also provide a nice little massage included in! read more

This is my go-to spot for manicures and pedicures. I once went to a different nail spa nearby and, although they did a great job, they were not as dedicated to their work as the staff at V&D is. I always ask for Kim when I go to V&D. She is super friendly and does a great job on my nails; if I show her an image of what I want she always exceeds my expectations! The men that start your pedicure are also amazing! The staff here really cares about their customers; they are always extremely friendly and welcoming. If they find a small flaw in their work, they won't stop until it is perfect. Sometimes the wait time is a little long but it is so worth it. Oh, and I once got my eyebrows waxed by Kim and she did them beautifully and surprisingly painlessly. read more

Best one I've been to in the Lawndale/Hawthorne area. The fills are excellent. The shape is precise. Just need to find the one who best accommodates to you. Although I would recommend for you to bring in your own nail polish because it is old and lumpy but their gel colors seem fine. read more

3 words: Un-sanitary, painful , and unskilled ! I used to come here years ago when it was a different owner, and being memorial day weekend, this was the only place not packed, so I decided to give it a shot again. it was awful! My toe nails were pulled with snippers, not nail cutters, and nothing was sterilized or cleaned between customers ! In addition, my pedicure and gels nails have already started to peel in less than 2 days. I wouldn't recommend this place . Beware! read more

Was around the area when I found this place with my mom . The workers are really welcoming and super nice ! My mom is actually very picky to where she gets her nails done bc of customer service and she loved it here ! We both got gel manicures it was very fast and great service ! If you're around the area definitely recommend ! read more

Looking for a detailed, cleaned, cute gel mani? This is the spot you're looking for! My friend and I have been coming here for a couple of years now. We get our gel mani done by Kwin. Shes the sweetest and takes her time while cleaning your cuticles and polishing. Love love love her! read more

I come here all the time because their prices are great and they are nice people. Kim is the best at acrylic nails and I would wait for her to do your nails and/or designs for acrylic nails. However, for pedicures the others usually do a great job & give you a little foot message . They others (I feel bad I don't no all their names), really do good pedicures and scrub your eat well. I get the best pedicures here. I give this place 5 stars because they are a nice and simple nail simple nail shop that does coffin nails, pointed nails , square nails, round etc .... but they don't do 3D acrylic designs or ombré nails. They also have waxing services. I usually like to thread my eyebrows but Kim was waxed my eyebrows many times and I have always liked how she does it and doesn't make them too thin. A con would be: It's rare that you can get your mani and pedi done at the same time because they are usually busy. But I still give this place 5 stars because I just won't come here when I am in a rush and when I am getting my nails done I want to relax anyways . read more

I used to love coming here for gel manicures because everyone is friendly and accommodating. Today I went in for a gel manicure and was cut so badly that the green stuff they use to stop cuts from bleeding wasn't working. They continuously used it but I was bleeding for about 15 minutes. They apologized but I'm not sure that their green oil thing that they use will heal my cut. I can only hope they actually sterilized their tools read more

Wasn't impress, they place I normally go to is closed on Tuesday and I had 2 broken nails and can't work like that, I didn't get Kim it was another lady, took along time getting my old nailed off I just wanted them to take off old nails and a manicure for fresh hands, I left clean because at least my nails don't look as they use too with 2 missing nails, but I feel the manicure could of been better, I wasn't happy but I still tipped her since it did take a while to take my old nails off. read more

Omg! price gauging is an understatement do not go here they will charge you for every little thing! It was not this way before covid! But since covid they have loss their touch the nice guy who does your toes is wonderful but Kim is not she did some funny nail design and it stinks it looks like a messy nail with no look at all! I only got the color changed on my nails she charged me the price of a full manicure that is price gauging for real! People please save yourselves there is other nail salons that are not over pricing there usual customers! I understand things have went up but charging full price for a nail color change is not ok, & not doing a good job at that, that's really not ok! She over filed on my daughter a child and really hurt her cuticle bed! I will not be going back that's for sure read more

Today is my third visit. Finally, I found a place for my manicures and pedicures. I am a massage therapist using hands and oil all the time. However, my gel mani still lasts for at least four weeks which is hard to find someone does such a good job-very thorough. The staff here always go extra miles to make sure I am happy with their work. I went to so many places. A lot of times was a miss and hit. But it is not happening here at V & D, everyone does know their stuff. I'm very picky where I get a service. There are so many selections of color and brands for you to choose. The Good: To start there is no business signage on the front or any type of indication that this is " Uncovered LA" literally just an all black storefront, with blacked out windows and a black iron gate door. Once you walk in though, it is very nice and looks neat and clean. Max who usually does my waxing, is pleasant. She does small talk to catch up and tries give breaks to relieve you through the waxing process which can be painful. The bad: she doesn't use any type of protective barriers on the waxing table which i find very unhygienic. I remember she stopped investing in the paper roll that you use to cover the table similar to what they use in a doctor's office before you sit on the examination table. She started reusing towels instead which i still think is pretty unsanitary. She also use reuses wash cloths to wipe your sensitive areas down and that just freaks me out every time. I've never had someone reuse wash cloths always a fresh warmed wipe. I even thought about bringing my own supplies like I do at the nails salon to not get a fungal infection, but I shouldn't have to do all that. The Ugly: my last visit I unfortunately received a bad bacterial infection after getting a wax from Max. I remember her looking for a towel to put down on the table and couldn't find one and i was in a super rush to catch a flight later that day so i just had her wipe down the black waxing table with a sanitizer wipe and i got it done. She used this same white wash cloths as per usual to wipe me down afterwards. Later that day I started to feel uncomfortable "down there" and had discharge that hasn't stoped since I go back from my trip. When I got checked, I was told it was a bacterial infection and I wont go into to much details, but I find myself having to wear a pantie liner EVERYDAY which is something I've NEVER had to worry about before. I waited a long time to post this review because I didn't want to negatively impact her business, but this experience has really changed my life and the money that I have to constantly spend on liners was definitely not worth a $60 Brazilian wax. Needless to say, I was naïve and really should have voice my concerns, but what an expensive lesson to lean. Ladies please take care of your health and always speak up if something doesn't feel right to you especially when paying for a service.

Of course, I turned to Yelp for the scoop and zeroed in on Ms. Glen's Therapeutic Manicures & Pedicures. I finally got a chance to go see Ms. Glen and it was everything I wanted and more. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. My goal is to make this a regular treatment. If my feet are healthy, I am healthier! Thanks Ms. Glen for such a wonderful experience! I'll be back. And thanks again for the massage therapist recommendation. Rest and recovery, here I come!

If your feet are in need of TLC, renewal and restoration, Ms. Glen has a carefully curated service that will leave your feet feeling brand new. I had recently purchased a soap that helps with skin discoloration. It hasn't been making any improvement in the uneven skin tone and dark marks on my feet. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. I recommend her service to anyone looking to give their feet a more youthful feel and look. And if your feet have severe issues that might keep you from visiting open public salons, her private suite will help you feel comfortable and secure. Right before I left, Ms. Glen threw in a bottle of her therapeutic hand & foot oil once she saw how dry my hands were. I had discussed my upcoming nuptials with her and she wanted to make sure my hands moisturized properly for my big day, even providing a demonstration on proper application. Ms. Glen is a gem!

I trusted the front desk staff to guide me, and was quoted $80 for Gel-X, builder gel removal, and French tip. At my appointment on Friday 7/18, I was unexpectedly charged $110! I was told the card on file couldn't be used for the service--only for late fees or no-shows--which made no sense. If the salon can charge the card for penalties, why not for the actual service being provided? This was especially frustrating because the appointment was a gift for a huge accomplishment of mine, from my mother, so of course I didn't have the physical card with me. On top of that I was also charged extra for nail length without warning, and billed twice for polish: $20 for gel color and $15 for French tip, even though I only received 1 design; french tip. When I asked for clarification, staff just pointed to the online pricing--but I booked in person to avoid that confusion. The experience felt misleading. I intentionally came in person to avoid confusion and relied on the staff to guide me accurately. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. If you're considering booking here, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for more transparent and customer-friendly service.

This beauty salon just reopened under a new management. I saw their banner outside that boasted a Grand Opening Special for a 10% OFF deal PLUS FREE DESIGN, so I thought I would try it. I am SO GLAD I did. Upon entering I was warmly greeted by KAYLA and KIM. I didn't have an appointment, but they could take me right away. They had a ton of color selections from OPI and they were very well organized so I could find just the color I was looking for. Kayla was my technician, and she did a great job. She was very thorough and didn't rush. I was in a good mood today so I struck up a conversation with her and she was very happy to chat with me (though I got the feeling that if I had just wanted to relax in silence she would have been ok with that as well). Another nice note was that the technicians didn't talk to each other nonstop in another language that I don't understand. That happens often around here, so it was nice to have the technicians focusing on their clients, not on each other. Which brings me to a few other random comments. - I was offered something to drink. FANTASTIC. I asked them to refill the water bottle I brought with me, but instead they brought me a bottle of water. Really nice touch! I also noticed they had coffee brewing, Wi-Fi internet, green tea, and candy. - The ambiance of the place was really nice. It is truly a relaxing and enjoyable place. There was no T.V playing, but rather wonderful soothing music unlike other place. - They also do waxing, facial, haircut, hairstyles, threading, and eyelash extension, and their prices are very competitive. - They were very clean and impressive.
