Had to wait more than 15 min to order, get serving utensils, get our checks, etc. Food: the hand pulled noodles themselves were good but the sauce wasn't great - the flavor just fell flat. This place is really pretty and i quiet and i like how they have a traditional seating area and a regular one. maybe i just ordered the wrong kind of laghman b/c it was pretty light on meat and heavy on noodles and not spicy enough for me. that said the bread is amazing, the service is kind, and its a very chill spot. According to my friend who is a pro at this cuisine, the Goyro Laghman is the way to go and i made a rookie mistake ordering the "home made laghman." If you absolutely love noodles, this is your place. They are large, flavorful, perfectly cooked and similar to Udon noodles, likely some of the best noodles I've ever had. I shared several dishes including the goyro, laghman, and lamb kebab. The kebab didn't come on the sticks which was disappointing but it was take out. They were moderately juicy and okay flavor wise. The Goyro had so many vegetables on it (which I was thankful for) that I wasn't sure if it had noodles until I had been eating for quite some time. Overall very flavorful but felt a little cheaper out on noodles. The Laghman was much better and flavorful but it had so much oil we kept the tray tilted to avoid it. Overall very tasty and plenty of noodles. The reason I give this place 3 stars is for $15-$16 an entree we felt very very skimped on for meat (maybe 5 small bites of meat total for each entree), the kebab wasn't as flavorful/seasoned as I was expecting. Have walked past this place many times on the way to a neighborhood dumpling spot but with that being carry out only decided to give it a try. And we were not disappointed...in fact I have a new restaurant that I love and highly recommend! There is seating on the upper level which includes both standard tables as well as a "baithak" style setup with low tables and decorative cushions. The food is amazingly tasty! We tried their lamb and salmon kababs, the lamb laghman hand-pulled noodles, the dumplings and a big pot of the pink tea - which was a really good spice blend! This place is so good , the decoration really brings us to their hometown, the food here is so delicious , the lamb shank is the best I have ever had , the hand pulled noodles is sooooo yummy , I love their skewers , big meat with the best flavors , only 3 dollars , you can't beat it ; I love the milk tea , it is not sweet and has the best flavor , you can tell they are made with good ingredients. I typically don't revisit any restaurant within a year of dining there, though I sometimes make exceptions by waiting 6 months. But in the span of less than 3 months, I dined at Eerkin's 3 times! This is for 4 reasons: the tea, the food, the service, and the atmosphere. 1) The tea. The tea menu is more of a book, and it's probably more extensive than their food menu. I've only tried a few, but they all were flavorful and as described. There's really something for everybody. My 11-year-old nephew enjoyed some of the sweeter teas, go like mango. They have an actual tea bar, but you can also have your tea served with your meal in a tea press, which looks like a large French press with a flat top. 2) The food. If you've never had Uyghur food, then the best way to describe it is a mix between Central Asian and Chinese. On their menu, you'll find soups, dumplings (manta), meat on skewers, naan, rice + meat dishes (e.g. pulao, quorma), and a lot of house-made noodle dishes. It's the last part, the noodle dishes, that are an integral part of Uyghur cuisine, and are probably my favorites here. If you're only here for entrees, I highly recommend the Gam Bian, which is a spicier noodle dish served with your choice of meat/vegetables. My second pick is a tossup between their Goyro Laghman and their traditional Laghman, and mostly depends on how wide I want my noodles. Their most traditional noodle dish, Dapanchi, is an acquired taste. Mainly, if you're not used to the strong flavor star anise, then you might be overwhelmed. If you're accustomed to it, though, the dish is great! For milder palates, I might suggest entrees such as their pulaos (rice and meat), and manta or thugur (meat-filled dumplings, large and small, respectively). For appetizers, you have some traditional options such as samsa, which is a baked bun filled with minced meat and onions, but I tend to get their eggplant salad to balance out the other meat-based dishes. There are other salads, all of which are very light and mild. If you're dining with a group, then other options include splitting entrees of manta (6 meat-filled dumplings), or getting skewers of meat, though I have found their lamb (like most places) tougher to chew, literally, than other meats. With pure meat orders, I recommend getting their bread, though I could actually eat it plain. The Uyghur naan, in particular, is really nice, though very filling, so please keep that in mind if you have this toward the beginning of your meal. 3) The service. I truly hope that this hasn't changed since my last visit, since each time visit was exceptional. Each time, I've had the same two young gentleman greet, seat, or serve us. Their level of hospitality was beyond most restaurants, and miles ahead of others in their age group. One time, we went with a large group, and they not only did a fantastic job of accommodating us in size, they were incredibly kid-friendly, as 5 of the kids ranged from ages 1-7. I was more than impressed, and won't have to think twice if I want to bring kids again, since they also have enough menu items that are on the milder side and fun for kids. 4) The atmosphere. High ceilings, huge windows on one side, wall tapestry, and the option to sit on an elevated eating floor (resembles a stage) with comfy cushions are all nice touches. While there is another good Uyghur restaurant in the District (Dolan, in Cleveland Park), I think that the dishes that I like are a notch better at Eerkin's, and the plethora of tea options make this my favorite Uyghur restaurant in the DMV. read more

3 stars for the food only. This was my second time having dinner at this restaurant. Food is definitely better than the first time. 4 of us came to the restaurant today. We enjoyed the food very much. However, customer service was not good at all. None of the waiters came and checked on us. Our waters was never refilled and a dish was missing. In the two hours time, they basically checked on us at the beginning when we ordered the food and when they took our payment. When the check arrived, we were surprised to see that a 20% gratuity was added to our check with our table of four, which is normally done for 6 or more people at a standard rate of 18% gratuity. Due to this unreasonable business practice, I will not be returning to this restaurant. Their service is definitely not worth the 20% tip. I will prefer to go to another Uyghur restaurant on Connecticut Avenue instead. read more

Eerkins is my go-to place for Uyghur food in the DC area vs the other restaurants. The food is fresh, flavorful, and so unique to the city. Their tea bar is the reason I hail it superior to the other Uyghur restaurants in DC. The only reason I give it 4 stars is due to my last experience there where it took over 44 minutes for the appetizer to arrive and despite asking 3+ times for water never received it, amongst other service-related downsides. Came here last Friday. Seriously, one of the most flavorful meals I have had in a while. I will absolutely start being a regular here now. Every SINGLE thing we ordered was AMAZING. Chicken and Lamb Kabobs, Chuchura (Dumpling Soup), Kathlama Naan (to dump in the Chuchura), Butter Naan and especially the Home Made Lagham with chicken. OMG, the noodles were SO full of flavorful. It had tons of soup/gravy at the bottom full of flavor that your tongue wants to explode. I did not expect so much flavor. Seriously, it is one of those meals that no matter what happen that week, life is frickin fantastic. It seems the three noodle dishes are very similar, however the Home Made Lagham has most flavor and less dry due to all the soup/gravy at the bottom which is why the waiter recommend it. I am SO glad he did. If I ever move away from the area, this particular dish will be the last thing I will try before leaving. I felt like that dood from Rattatoulle except I never even had this dish before in my childhood... The only thing is the server forgot our order of tea. However, that ended up being a blessing as we were too stuffed in the end as I instead got a second order of the juicy lamb kabob. I had no idea this was near Georgetown otherwise I would have visited sooner since the Fairfax location seems so far. This place has been on my list to go for 6 months now. Laghman was good, but service should be improved waiter closed my bill after 15 min I got my entree and I was looking to try tiramisu from desert menu but after I've been presented my check I thought this place don't want to see me any longer however I didn't complain and said nothing and it was around 4pm on Saturday. The food was okay and somewhat authentic when we first went to the restaurant. The services has been inattentive all the time and it took them a long time to serve waters and silverware when there was nobody in the restaurant. The waiter also didn't let us switch our seat away from the windows (in the middle of the cold winter!) because they "assume" that there would be more people coming when only one table was taken. There was no other table when I got there, and a couple came in about 15-20 minutes after I get here.
