Buying maternity clothes online is a sure fire way to make you feel like garbage about yourself, which has been what I've been going through. I walked into the store and immediately found an employee who was completely happy to help me find something! She asked about my fit preference and color preference and whether I wanted over or under the bump jeans. She came through with a HUGE selection to try on. I found two pairs of jeans that made me feel really good about myself. Some people might consider them spendy (jeans run $70-$200 depending on brand) but I feel that it's worth it considering that these clothes will probably be worn daily for the next year. They also carry my favorite brand of bras, so I found a nursing bra in my size (which, again, is unheard of in a brick and mortar store...yes...H cup is a real thing!) and it was so nice to get to try something on before I bought it! Oh, I forgot to mention that they carry all range of sizing! It's so nice to go into a store where they realize that some pregnant women are not a size 6! It took a long while to find a replacement pharmacy, especially one that would honor my insurance. (The latter bit ended up being surprisingly difficult!). Anyway, no problems transferring my prescription to their shop. Their staff walked me through the process and were very helpful. They honored my insurance, so my regular prescription cost me nothing (as it had at Bartell's). Staff was helpful on the phone and in person. I think a lot of people are transferring prescriptions to Katterman's since the pharmacy staff seemed slammed when I went in. But no problems, they took the time to help me. Only confusing bit: you pick up the prescription at a counter at the back of the store, where the pharmacists work. You then take it up to the front counter to "pay" for it, even if you have no co-pay. I think I understand the process now, but the two-step process seemed a little odd (since, again, I owed nothing). But everyone was helpful, so no worries! My new pharmacy! What a relief to have one, and for it to be a nice little local shop.

While trying on a Spinelli ring, I asked whether they carried it in other colors. The response was, "Well, we can order it for you if you wanted." The tone came across as incredibly dismissive. I then asked about the materials and how the mixed metals hold up with wear. The response was essentially, "Well, it's jewelry. It has wear and tear as you wear it." I was honestly taken aback. I wasn't asking an unreasonable question--I was genuinely trying to understand how the piece would hold up before potentially spending a significant amount of money on it. I explained that I own other mixed-metal jewelry and had experienced issues where the metals rubbing against each other affected the shape over time. She responded, "Well, I've never heard of that happening, and that makes no sense." At that point, I was just stunned by the level of condescension. I have never experienced customer service like this at a jewelry store, especially one selling pieces at this price point. I genuinely felt like I was being treated as though I didn't know what I was talking about rather than having a normal conversation with a potential customer. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was that we were the only younger, non-white customers in the store at the time. The lady told me "I need 4 cents." I thought she meant the total was $1.04, so I told her "Oh I don't have coins, I'll pay with card so you don't have to make change." She gave me a pointed look and said, "...then I'll have to charge you an extra 50c" I was super confused, but that was fine. I thought it over a little, and then she told me, "Your total is only 96c" Totally fine, I gave her one dollar and told her to keep the change. Usually... you tell the customer their total and they can figure out what to give you. Not a weird vague comment. She's not mean, she helped me find a nearby bathroom, and she told another customer she's worked at a paint store before, so I think she's just... odd. I think staff needs a little more consistent training, it was somewhat uncomfortable.

Wow. I am mystified how I could have had such a different experience than everyone else here! And…read moreseriously, I am generally a forgiving, understanding, and accommodating person; just look at my other reviews. However my 5 minutes in this jewelry shop was 5 of the most unpleasant minutes I've ever spent doing business with any retailer. Firstly, a large white dog was present who barked loudly and at length. I mean, loudly! The dog barked incessantly for some time after we arrived, then calmed down enough for me to converse with the jeweler, then ramped up again when another customer entered. My partner's Apple Watch told her that she was in a dangerously loud environment. The entire back half of the shop was gated off to provide a space for this dog. This no doubt colored my experience talking to the jeweler. I brought in a mid-century pearl necklace and bracelet set. It was clear that the necklace needed restringing but it appeared that the bracelet just needed a new clasp ring. The jeweler looked at the bracelet and said, "This needs restringing." I asked why it needed restringing and he repeated that it did need restringing. I asked why he couldn't just replace the ring, and he said, "because it needs to be soldered." I didn't see what that had to do with anything so I asked again and he said, "because it needs to be restrung." Holy moley. I asked again and he said, "because I need some string there to attach it to". I asked why he couldn't attach the ring to the other ring that was still attached to the pearls and he replied, "because it needs to be soldered." Now, I wasn't questioning his expertise. I just need to understand the work that is proposing. So I persisted and said, "Why can't you solder a ring on?" He said, "Because it would harm the pearl next to it." OK, that I can understand, but I felt exasperated that he hadn't been forthcoming. He then explained other reasons why it needed to be restrung. This was educational and interesting, and by then I was convinced that the piece needed to be restrung, but I was left with the feeling that he himself was exasperated with me. I think I would have rebounded from this had his dog not started barking loudly again at just that moment. It was impossible to speak over the barking, and no apology or explanation from the jeweler. The very presence of this dog felt like an insult to me as a customer. The jeweler then went and attended to the customer who'd just entered and spent about 3 minutes with her, without excusing himself from our interaction. I packed up my pearls and left because I knew I didn't want to ever enter that space again. Somehow the other customer was able to accomplish what she needed done despite the barking, and she departed with a smile on her face. She had her own [well behaved] dog so perhaps that gave her a pro-barking bias. I give two stars because this guy probably does excellent work like everyone else here says he does. Otherwise, negative stars for my experience.
