Another thing is that they no longer sort clothing by gender. This is incredibly annoying when shopping for boys clothing as there is prob 75% girls to boys clothing in consignments stores. I'm guessing this is due to people over buying for girls and girls not making their clothes as messy, this was the case with my children. This comment isn't designed to attack people who want to dress their children GN, it's more an annoyance that it takes significantly longer to sort though the clothes which is tough when you have 2 kids in tow. Perhaps brand back the gendered cloning and have a third GN section.

Anyway, walked in on a whim because of the sheep hanging out by the front door and wanted to check out what it was about. I love soft linens and textures and loved the holy lamb organics blanket. The material was also available in a squishable heart shaped pillow (and a perfect incognito stim item) I got on impulse. There are a few adorable fluffy sheep plushies around the store too. Deseret Industries is thift store that stands out in a few ways from your Goodwill's and Value…read moreVillages out there but isn't quite like the rugged ones you'd perhaps see in Capitol Hill. Immediately what sticks out to me about Deseret is how clean and well kept up it is. Goodwill especially is notorious for this where at many of them it seems like a gust of wind blew through the aisles and things are scattered all over the place and picked over. To be fair certain sections such as the toys and the otherwise 'brick-a-brack' sections do look like this here and other places, but at least it looks like here at Deseret they have people that come and try to neaten it up or zone it. Another thing about Deseret that's unique and I like is with the piles of shirts I'm sure they get, they try to color code them and hang them so if you're looking for that certain color you can simple walk over and sift through shades of yellow or green t-shirts for example as they're hung up and separated from the rest of the assorted t-shirts. The store seems to be decently staffed and seems evident by how clean it generally is here. From what I understand they hire people of less means or recently released offenders for work which is nice. My company actually has one of our clients volunteer here so I appreciate them for that. The one flaw I've found here is the shoe section is not well presented. You have to "eyeball" the shoes for size as there isn't a tag or other easily identifier of size on them. They also seem to pretty much be mixed - womens, mens, baby, child... it could use improvement. I've visited Deseret a few times and although I've yet to score any nice finds here, I do enjoy the ease of browsing here and the prices are surprisingly decent considered the spike in many thrift stores inventory in favor of profits. If you too are a thrifter, stop in for a look.

I have driven by this place so many time, but never dropped in. Today, I decided to pop-in. Service is great, the people there want to help and everyone seems to have a smile on their face. Selection, feels pretty good. I came early morning, after dropping off the kiddo at school. I could tell there were regulars, the early bird pickers who know what to look for. A bunch of the customers, somehow knew each other's names and yeah... I guess I was the stranger shopper today. Anyway, the prices aren't bad, I picked up a Timbuk2 bag, in pretty good condition for $3 bucks, and a couple blu-rays, $2 bucks each. Honestly, pretty good deals. I only buy things that I would use, so I don't know what resell values of things are, but feels like if you came here enough, you would find some good deals. So there, it's not scary, and if you don't care about the religion of the people who run the place, this should be on your list of thrift stores to visit.

They do restock, but this nursery is popular so if you're undecided just buy the plant :) They have a small cafe area which I haven't tried yet, but looks fairly popular with people bringing their dogs to hang out too. There are quite a lot of events and classes related to gardening on their website. One that I'll probably be going to is the rotating tool sharpening by Northwest Sharpening Services - quite cheap at $4 per tool.

Went to the help desk, asked about specific plants. The staff person just pointed and said, "go in there" to the greenhouse. Went there, was told, we just sell houseplants in here, go outside through the automatic doors". Went outside, no one, not one person out there. We walked around for a bit, still no one. Gave up and decided we could find help online and at another nursery. The coffee shop. Great idea, poorly managed. Saw some senior group had taken all but two tables and a couple of chairs for their get together. I found two chairs against the wall for my mom and I, but no tables. Made our order, sandwich and egg bites- they are brought in prepackaged from an outside company. I had to walk back and forth from my chair to the coffee counter to check on our drinks and warmed up sandwiches. After 20 minutes, have one drink and cold sandwiches. Had to go back since they forgot a drink. We ate a few bites of our sandwiches- threw away the rest. No more interest in getting the order right. Also saw one of the staff people counting out cash onto the counter next to the coffee machine. Cash and coin I believe should not be placed on counter space next to food or drink prep?

Growing up, Teri's Toybox was our main go-to toy store near the house. It had a good amount of…read morefloor space and fun displays with a variety of offerings. Both my sister and I collected TY Beanie Babies growing up and each time TY released new beanie babies, we would try and come here to see what they had. The toys were magical to each of us and fortunately our tastes were different enough that the items we wanted did not really overlap. This was great for us and our parents as we did not mix up whose beanie baby was whose. We were appreciative Teri's Toybox had enough different toys we were not forced to get the same ones if we wanted one. We found a treasure trove of other cool items here throughout our childhood as well. More recently, it has become a site of searching for toys for kids of family friends or church care packages. The floorspace has been reduced and the displays are a bit more cramped together than they used to be, though they still have a variety of offerings. The music played can be a little odd for being a children's toy store, though plays a little quieter so it is not so jarring.
