Ally is truly an amazing server. Never leaving us wanting and amazing energy. Gliding to us whenever we need. truly magical‍

Management and servers are top tier. Food is excellent. Love everything about this place.

Cutest place w good drinks and food!! Nicest bartenders and servers especially Billy! Can't wait to go again!

The security guard was extremely rude when we had reservations, our masks on prior to entering, and our IDs ready to show him. The server immediately said "our security guard woke up on the wrong side of the bed today so please wear your mask so he doesn't yell at you," what other restaurants or bars apologize on behalf of their colleagues prior to anything patrons have done wrong... so wild. We were then asked to leave the patio area as soon as we got our drinks because of lightening... that's understandable, but we weren't allowed to sit inside because our reservation was originally for outside and we were forced to chug our drinks that we literally had just ordered ten minutes prior. Just a chaotic scene overall. I know we made the decision to go to a bar amid COVID, but it seemed like a club inside. The most amount of people that I've seen since restrictions were lifted- I would definitely stay away from this bar for now. read more

Had the best birthday celebration here tonight! Our waitress was Lex - she was so sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. Would absolutely come back because of the great food and the ambiance - but especially because of her. Great experience all around! read more

Okay- I have been here twice. Once for my 21st birthday in September 2020 and just yesterday. Both times I had the same server, Alex, who is A M A Z I N G. She made my 21st birthday one to remember! She also made just a Saturday brunch unforgettable. She is just the best. Utopian Tailgate has the BEST vibes. You can't help but be happy in there! Both times I have been were obviously during COVID, and most of the games and such were unavailable but regardless I still had an amazing time. read more

Drinks are good and the atmosphere is super fun but I was not impressed by the food. The avocado toasties are not toasted so it's pretty much just tiny pieces of bread with avocado and random stuff on them. The cheese curds we got were very over cooked. Also had trouble getting the attention of our waitress and the bar staff but I think that's just a learning curve because they recently opened read more

Utopian Tailgate - Avocado toasties (not toasted, very bland) - Lounges Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Really awesome and unique concept for a bar and restaurant. My group ordered one of each drink so I'm not sure which two I tried but they were both great! The ribs were also delicious and the atmosphere was on point and alive. Had fun playing mini golf and just enjoying the view. All around great concept and the perfect place to grab food and drinks before or after a Second City show. read more

I'm going to give this bar 3 stars because it's able to operate during Covid, but honestly you are just going there for the atmosphere and the rooftop it's highly over priced to have a minimal food option! 3 chicken tenders were 16 dollars and the smash bologna burger was 20! Not only that but in this racial climate I do believe that this bar is racist me and my friend sat at the bar, mind you they don't have physical menus they have a bar code that you have to scan to pull up the menu! So unless you have the barcode app just go to the website like we did! But I guess the bartender was getting frustrated because we had to go to the website to look up the menu he was really impatient and did seem super annoyed then when he made my drink the gin & chronic he walked away and never came back!! There are no people of color working there besides security so no people of color at the bar, no wait staff, nothing just white people who ignore people of color to cater to the white customers like the bartender did when I continually tried to get him to make my drink and mind you it's not busy at all!! I had to shout to get someone's attention and I believe it was the manager she made my drink and apologized but still !! Not great service for people of color wouldn't recommend read more

Utopian Tailgate - They stole this from the black neighborhoods charged people 12 dollars for something that's literally $1.50 at the corner store - Lounges Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I would give this place a million stars if I could. Such a great atmosphere, amazing vibe, fantastic staff, delicious food, creative and outstanding drink options along with old favorites. There may be a wait to get in at times but it's so worth it. People wait to get into places that are amazing and this is one of those places!! In Chicago, highly recommend checking them out!! read more

Great service from Raven at the bar, she makes the best Paloma's as well. Will be returning !!

Great service by Roman!!!! Will definitely be here again to see him :) actually maybe tomorrow

Great drinks and view. Great diversity and atmosphere. Get drunk here but skip dinner. Make sure you're at least 10 deep if you order the $20 steak burrito....The homeless guy passed on the burrito leftovers! The menu needs a Caitlyn Jenner level makeover. PRO TIP: Hit the McDon's across the street before arrival read more

Riley is the BOMB! He handled our party of 8 loud, obnoxious, female family members! Riley really made our experience at Utopian Tailgate outstanding! When we come back we hope Riley takes care of us again because we were so impressed at how well Riley did his job! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Came for the cute vibes and atmosphere. Left because of the worst service I have experienced in Chicago. Waited 30 minutes for someone to come to our table. Served every table around us before us. Never brought waters. Never checked in after dropping off drinks. Terrible service Brock. 10/10 would never recommend. read more

Roman and Billy are theee freaking best!!! Super attentive and friendly. My cup was never empty ! I'm absolutely in love with how well this bar is operating. So clean and professional even during these hard times highly recommend it! read more

Food was good that's about it . if your not White , be prepared to be judged , they were upset we wanted to wait for a table outside then never came to outside table not once we left . Workers slow college kids I'm guessing and management probably doesnt gaf read more

Great customer service! Anything we had issues on got fixed instantly bc of Bryan. We had such a great experience.

I really enjoyed my time here. Atmosphere is great, lots going on and really fun place to hang out. The food and drinks are on point too!

This place is unreal! The atmosphere is so fun! Great place to bring a group of your friends. Can grab a "briefcase" of beer and they fill it with ice and you're basically set for a couple hours. Their food is good too! The hanger steak is to DIE FOR! Swordfish belly, nachos! Smash burger is my personal favorite. Staff is very friendly and full of smiles. I had the Big Pina in a fun pineapple cup! Bring your friends. Play jenga, beer pong, bags, MINI FLIP CUP, drinko plinko! It's an adult play ground and we are loving it! What a great idea. Keep it up 50/50! read more

See all

The vibes are amazing here. The music and waitresses were awesome. Make sure you get outdoor seating since you get to see the skyline and the seating is very unique compared to the indoor seating. The indoor seating is like a disco bar so be prepared coming in to pump up the jam!! read more

Food was average, nothing special. However, the service was dreadful.... the service was way too slow, filled with forgetful and drunk workers that are tipped at the checks total. 2 stars read more

Utopian Tailgate is a great rooftop bar in Chicago. Highly recommend making reservations ahead of time as it is a popular location. The rooftop is a fun and colorful vibe which makes for great pictures. The staff was very friendly and attentive, even though they were packed. The drinks were great, everyone at the table got something different and mixed and matched and every drink was super tasty. As for food, I wish that they had a broader menu there wasn't alllll that much to choose from but the food was great. Highly recommend the grilled cheese sandwich and the nachos! read more

Probably my new favorite rooftop bar. Amazing drinks (try the gin and chronic), super tasty food (the bacon wrapped dates are stellar). Just opened and it already gets busy fast. If you don't get an outdoor table with a game, the host stand has individual table games (jenga, beer pong) you can "rent" with your ID. The space is also VERY photo-friendly with bright colors, super sized games. Don't be surprised if you see a ton of aspiring "influencers" trying to capture their evening ;) read more

Great time here, loved the atmosphere and the views from the rooftop! Had the hot wings, chicken tenders & onion strings all to die for and great to share! Looking forward to coming back and trying out other food & more cocktails! read more

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CARD with this BAR!! I thought this bar was fun, until my friends checked their bill the next morning. My friend had a $27.94 bill and tipped the bar in cash. When he woke up, he found that he had been charged $100 and the bar decided to fill in their own tip on the receipt including a FAKE SIGNATURE. He has reached out to the GM and absolutely nothing is being done to resolve the issue. Extremely shady business practices not to mention ILLEGAL. As a former bartender, this is never okay. We will never be back. It's clear that many others have had the same experience here- so it will be comical when my review gets reported. read more

Such a dope bar. The disco ball got me as soon as I entered. Cocktails amazing. Food great. Brandon and Roman made me feel like a regular although I'm visiting from DC. Becky made me feel at home as well..just an amazing Chicago experience overall. Thank you all! read more

Wow. Never met a super star bartender as this dope kid named RJ. Wanted to party hard and he knew exactly what to do. Best view of old town. Love seeing above the old people that live in this city. Also, I'm a plant dad, and this spot is super botanical. RJ is dad read more

This place is really cool. Hard to get into during COVID but very good food and even better drinks.

Love that a rooftop bar opened in Old Town. The view is great and love the patio vibes and yard games. The inside has a lot going on. Feels like 5 different themes happening and like it was more made to Instagram than anything else. Prices reflected the IG trap. However, really can't go wrong with a rooftop bar and staff is friendly! read more

Billy was great, would definitely come back! Although guac was kind of hard to eat in the bowl, but tasted great!

Roman my man! You always have super service and a great attitude! Thank you!! I'm glad to have come here!! I enjoyed myself!!!

Disappointing experience overall, food was just ok and the wait staff could care less about there tables. We were there for my sisters bday party of 6 eating snacks and having a couple drinks, our tab was almost 400$. When I asked a bus boy where our waitress was she finally came running up to our table and screamed I had to take a bathroom break. Was a total mess, please take caution when visiting this place. Also after the manager knew we didn't have the best time they still pre included an 18% tip on the check for tip, they should be embarrassed of that. read more

Few words to summon up my visit to Utopian Tailgate. Server Alex, Bartender Roman, Banana Hammock, and Crunchwrap. 10/10 on all of it. Only recommendation would be to throw some of the bartenders the aux, as I could not vibe to the music. read more

DONT USE ANY CARDS HERE. I used my card here and tipped with cash only to find out days later that an employee changed the amount to give themselves an $80 tip. Management would not answer emails even though I had proof of this fraud. Very shady employees and management. Don't come here and if you do watch how you pay because the management is a joke and communicating to anyone from here is impossible. read more

I usually love this place in the summer but a group of my friends and I tried out their new outdoor tents and it wasn't great. Our heater was broken so it was freezing cold in the tent. Given, we all live in Chicago and very used to the cold, but they told us they would try to get us a new one or move us into a working tent and never did. We didn't get our drinks for the first hour (you only have 2 hours in the reserved tents) and then our food finally came the last half hour. We eventually asked to move inside because no one was serving us and we didn't even get our second round of drinks till we reminded them 3 different times. Not worth this new 'camp utopia' reservation. Very disappointing. read more

I'd say 5 stars for the service, 5 stars for the ambiance but 3 stars for the food. This is definitely a place for drinking & loud conversation. Very young crowd taking lots of pics. Seating is spread apart very well. Reservations are strongly suggested. Lemont was very helpful. Everyone makes sure you're comfortable and having a good time. read more

This place is so fun! They have all types of games - bags, giant jenga, giant connect four, table games, etc. The bar food is pretty decent too, as well as the cocktails. It's perfect for nice weather days -- during the winter, just make sure you dress for it since it's an open roof. The servers are nice and attentive read more
