Under my kitchen sink the pipes had leaked a bit. I had a plumber come in and fix the leak. I was worried about mold. I called UDK to take care of that. Turns out there was no mold. The man broke up the floor board under the sink and vacuumed it up and left. No plastic. It took him about a half hour. Utah disaster kleenup charged me an astronomical amount. I am NOT happy with the company! Warning to those who are considering using UDK. read more

Our basement flooded due to a broken sprinkler line. They came out quickly and indicated they could start the basement cleanup immediately. In our panic to get the job started we did not get an estimate. They did the job of cutting into the walls and removing wet carpet pads, insulation and set up multiple fans. When we received the invoice for the demo and drying the charges were horrendous. The charges for the drying fans was ok but the demolition was at least twice what the job should of cost. It was performed during normal working hours. There was no reason for the high cost. We tried to get them to reduce their charges and got no satisfaction. Needless to say, we got another contractor to restore the basement. Beware of the high cost of this contractor. read more

Used them to get rid of mold in my bathroom. They did a good job removing the mold, but the repair job on my bathroom was poor. They said they would make changes to it because I was dissatisfied, but then I never heard from them again. They just emailed a bill 3 months later. read more

I hired UDK to rebuild my home after a fire, and it was the WORST mistake! I fired them after they had done nothing for 14 months, except demolish my 1200 sq foot house, for which they charged my insurance company over $45,000. I had to pay a whole year's worth of temporary housing cost, in addition to my mortgage payment, since my insurance company only payed for 1 year. I'm suing them for the extra year of expenses, and they have the audacity to counter sue me for $13,000, saying they did over $60,000 of work, and haven't been paid for it!! Nate Jensen was like a used car salesman, promising me the moon and delivering nothing. He lied about getting permits and plenty of other things. Dishonest and unethical. His boss, Trace Larsen, isn't any better. My new contractor, Creating Spaces LLC, was awesome, communicative, honest, and fast! On a positive note, Debra Nelson was wonderful when it came to cataloging and dealing with the contents of the house. read more

Oh, Dear God, don't hire these guys! Why? Well, I will tell you. In April 2020 we had them clean up and refurbish a rental home that a renter moved out of. He left the house in a shambles. He'd knocked holes in the walls, left paint spots on the walls and filth everywhere. The renter left the bathrooms absolutely filthy. I hired UDK to clean up the house. Troy Harris, the contractor for the company, promised to restore the home to rentable condition. To make a long story short, his guys did an excellent job of repairing the damage, but when it came time for "Kleenup", the company didn't live up to its name. The cleaning crew did not do a thorough Kleenup job on either the kitchen or the bathrooms. The toilet bowls were still left with stains, lime deposits were not "kleened" from the shower stall walls or chrome door frames. The renter left gross stuff in the bathroom cabinet drawers and interior of the cabinets, like hair and various stains. He'd left the kitchen in a horribly filthy condition. UDK cleaning crews didn't thoroughly clean the refrigerator nor clean stains and lime off the faucets. The cleaners didn't clean all the dust and debris, left by the sheet rock and paint crew, off the walls or off the pantry shelves. They'd hadn't cleaned the poop stains from the toilets! I identified all these things and told Troy. I sent pictures of it all to him and asked him to send the cleaning crew back to finish the cleaning job. I asked Troy to send the crew I back to clean up what they hadn't "Kleened up" the first time. Troy---reluctantly-- agreed to send them back. Even after the second go around, his cleaning crew DID NOT clean up everything I had asked him to have them do. The house was still not presentable enough to show to prospective renters. I said that to Troy. This is the reply I got: "Well Tom, they've been there twice they sent me pictures of everything and these girls are not short cut takers. I simply have the feeling that no matter how many times we clean it your wife will always find something wrong, so I'm just not gonna play the game. You got way more than you paid for. We try to ensure that. But I'm not going to keep sending people there so that they can be sent back again." I finally hired housecleaning crew, to do the deep cleaning Troy's DID NOT do, and deducted the $232.00 cost of hiring them from the bill sent me by UDK. Most recently, I have discovered that Troy's crew did not install the weather strip to the bottom of the front exterior door. When the door is shut, exterior light shows from underneath. Three days ago, I contacted Troy and asked him to finish the door install job. This is the reply I received: "I spoken with my management and I will not repair anything, particularly for months after the job was completed. I suggest you find another contractor such as you found the cleaning people. Goodbye Tom. Good luck." With that kind of customer service, who would hire this company? My question to anyone who might hire UDK to "do the job" would be this: Why hire someone to do a job who refuses to "tie the loose ends" and satisfy the customer? Had a great experience with UDK this year (spring '17). We had a roof leak that did about $5,000 worth of damage to our family room and kitchen. Mike and Dena were the team that helped us. I was a difficult case, too - wound up needing to do a roof re-cover and solar install before UDK could get in to finish their work, so the job was on hold for several months while we took care of that. Despite the setbacks, Dena was right there when we needed her crew back. Got in and got out, did just the work we wanted. The subs were professional, thorough, and fast. When it was all said and done, Mike final billed us. There were a couple of errors on the final bill, so I let Mike know. He fixed them right away and got everything taken care of. I'll work with UDK in a heartbeat if we need some other restoration work. We didn't experience any of the poor customer relations some of the other reviewers have mentioned. Always talked to Mandy when we called the main office, and she was always professional and courteous. read more

I can't say enough positive things about UDK! They were prompt, professional and easy to get ahold of. They made several trips out at my request for additional asks and never charged me more than quoted. They even made a few trips out and didn't charge me. We had a major flood in our basement level at work-nearly 24K square feet impacted by nearly 300K gallons of water. It was a major incident. UDK came out quickly and got to work immediately working with us to drain the area and save the walls throughout the basement level. They spent several days on site drying the space out and once that was done, came back out to dry out many documents that had been damaged by the flood as well. I found UDK to be very professional, very responsive and very reliable. They truly felt like our partners in this disaster and helping to get the area dried out-which was no small task at all. They were very thorough in all that they did and also helped us understand the impact of such a large scale event and what sort of care our space would need after the area was dried out. Sadly for us, the building owner decided to go a very inexpensive route when it came to the mold abatement (as part of the restoration process) once the area was dry and we are now left with a very substandard level of service when our preference was to continue using UDK for all restoration efforts related to this major event. I cannot speak highly enough of the team we worked with and the level of expertise they brought to our very enormous, complex and costly situation. I highly recommend them. read more

I worked with the Draper office, but let me tell you these guys are nothing but professional. We had a water pipe burst and they were very detailed in communication and very responsive. The work was well done and the clean up was great. I'd highly recommend UDK. read more

Had a sewer line break under my house and called, they said they would have someone call and get out there that day. Got a call a week later asking if they could send someone after another company had already came out and took care of everything. KJONES, thanks for the response...yes, although we "settled" the bill, that was all that was settled, and in an unsettling manner. Here is why I didn't feel "settled: I paid the full amount for sloppy brickwork (see description above), I paid a 10% surcharge for "overhead" (project supervision) which was very poor and unresponsive to requests for updates like when the facade was removed and much time passed with the interior left exposed to snow because no covering was placed over it, or when after I protested I received only a 50% reduction on a $530 charge for "Dumpster Load" when there was no dumpster and the brickwork debris was eventually placed in my garbage can by the crew when I asked what they would do with it after it sat for days near my doorstep. I didn't feel very "settled" when it was left to me to discover and object to items/services billed but not rendered like the charge for $410 asbestos tests not done. After the sloppy work, bad experience with poor project supervision, and wrestling over charges, I paid (which you refer to as "we settled"). But now, every day I walk past the mismatched mortar and see the broken brace on the garage door track (not discovered by me until after payment...my bad) I feel frustrated that I paid $4,550 for which I got 32 bricks in the facade reset and the framework behind them straightened...thats it. So, although I paid back in Jan-Feb of this year, I've felt the need to finally leave a review to help me feel "settled". read more

We had a flood in our basement in May on a Friday. UDK came out and sucked up the water and then left the fans to dry out our office and my son's bedroom. They came back the next week to verify that it was dry and did an assessment of what needed to be repaired so they could send it to our insurance, which our insurance immediately approved. It took about another week for them to send a guy to do the repairs. He came on a Wednesday to fill in some holes in the wall where the baseboards were and replaced the baseboards and then came back Thursday to paint the baseboards. During the time he was there I was working upstairs so I was not paying much attention to what he was doing downstairs. I had my dogs in their boxes downstairs while he was here so they would not bother him, my kids were also hanging out downstairs part of the time he was here. UDK knew we were going to be out of town that Friday to Monday, so they were able to get most of the work done except the carpets before we left. When we came back from camping, I was cleaning my kid's bathroom downstairs and found a meth pipe and meth. I immediately called the police and they came and took the meth to destroy it. The only person that could have possibly left that in my kids' bathroom was the guy that was working for UDK, when we realized this my son said, "Oh that is why he was taking so long in the bathroom", I didn't even know he had been using that bathroom. We called UDK and they were really nice about it and said they were going to drug test the guy but I am sure he knew he left it there and it only takes 72 hours to be out of your system, so it was too late for it to be positive. I am not sure why UDK was not testing their people before this happened. UDK sent some ladies out to clean the bathroom but didn't tell them why they were cleaning it so it didn't really make sense to me why that would help. They also paid to have a company come and test the bathroom to make sure it did not need to be decontaminated and they did find trace amounts in there but not in high enough to be decontaminated. My kids were sick that weekend and my dogs would not eat for 5 days so I know that this affected my family. I also should have known something was wrong because I went down to check the work after he finished painting and there was a really weird smell when I was expecting to smell wet paint. The reason I am putting this out there is because I do not want this to happen to someone else. It is really difficult to believe that this guy is still working for UDK. Please watch the people working in your house because apparently this company and probably others are not going to watch it for you. read more

When the flood first happened I thought I would be able to manage it on my own. I quickly become aware that wasn't the case. We decided to call UDK. The staff that arrived were extremely helpful and kind the entire time. They worked hard and didn't try to drag out their time there. The pricing was far less than I had anticipated it would be, and the estimator was a pleasure to work with as well. If I ever have to deal with another disaster, or know somebody who has one, UDK will always be the first company I turn to or suggest to the people I care about. read more

Initially went with this company after building fire since they had a relationship with my Insurance Co. All their work looked good on the surface at final reconstruction Inspection, but some things can only be found once a property is lived in. We have had multiple repairs related to drains under house filled with construction debris, sinks coming off wall, repaired/new appliances failing, etc. Jon Warner and team have been non-responsive to our complaints re $$$ in post construction fixes. read more

This company, UDK is a total joke. They employ individuals who have no idea what they are doing or talking about. We had a water leak that I stopped and took care of for the most part. My insurance agent wanted UDK to come out so I called them. After I had dried out my basement they suggested removing all the new carpet and pad and a number of other things that did not need to happen in order to increase what they could charge. They even brought in de-humidifiers and set them up but didn't isolate anything so that wasn't doing anything but costing me more money. They had no idea what they were doing or how to set up their own equipment properly. They looked at wet wood and said oh that's mold and taped it off and left. When they did leave they left more garbage for me to clean up. Three days later they returned with a different crew, a much younger crew to supposedly remove the damaged Sheetrock and to Clean up their equipment. They had torn out and damaged more of the wall then needed and then said the same thing, that's mold while looking at a wet joist. Then in the same sentence, admitted to not knowing what mold looked like. They then left again after damaging more of my home and doing nothing to help or clean up their mess. I then received a very high bill for things they didn't even do. In fact they left my house with more damage then what they started with. And they are the ones who did the damage. They then charged me for clean up, hauling off things, ( which they did nothing of the sort because I had to take it all). When I went to talk about the bill and those things that were on it I got the run around with no answers or results. I then got rude, threatening and demanding calls about payment. This company is a fraudulent joke. They are there to do no good for anyone but their pockets. Chops any other company besides UDK!!! read more

BEWARE!!!! Do not use this company! We had a small flood in our basement in April of 2018. Utah Disaster came out and told us they would get it taken care of, it is now September 2018 and they have just finished the job. Companies build houses faster than these guys can put a kitchen back together. They blew the fuse on the circuit braker with their drier machine and thawed out our freezer full of meat. It took them almost 2 weeks to remove the wet sheet rock, so we had to pay over 3,000 in mold abatement. Time and time again we were told their workers would be at our home, only for them to not show up. Chad, the guy over our job has no management skills and when we contacted his boss to complain about the time it was taking to complete our SMALL job we were promised that he would get the job done in the next week. We never heard back from him and the job was not completed for another 2 months. The quality of their workmanship is poor (they constantly left things half done), they have no communication skills or management skills. Save yourself the headache and go with another company. read more

I tried to utilize these guys, but I should've called someone else! They originally came out to do the entire job, but I had to have them stop because they failed to communicate with us for over a week with no returned calls! We left messages and tried to reach out to other members of the team, but received no response. Our upstairs bathroom sprung a leak which in turn caused water to come down through our kitchen ceiling. They tore everything out and then failed to put our home back together and finish the job we hired them for. Weeks later they send us a bill for the mitigation and we get charged for equipment that wasn't even used. I tried to dispute one of the charges and it turns into a he said/she said situation because the estimator (Nate) can't remember what was exactly used. Found Mold in our basement. I had another company come out and quote us $2600 to remediate it, never taking the time to figure out any possible cause. I called Utah disaster Kleenup for a second opinion, and quote. Justin came out and spent so much time with me going through EVERY bit of space in our basement. He answered all my questions. Looked over our mold sampling results, even had their specialist review them. He explained and showed me how mold works and explained so much. Turns out there was no reason to remediate anything. He was super honest and easily could have taken our money for nothing. I highly recommend them! This was also backed up by another inspector. read more

I did not have a good experience with the rep on my project. Their actual demo work was clean and well done. However, in trying to reinstall my two sets of blinds, I discovered that one part was broken. I brought this to the attention of the Vice President of Operations--his attitude was cordial and professional-- and he sent someone out within the week to fix them. That employee had my blinds up and fixed in about 5 minutes. I think this company will work with you to resolve any issues you may have. read more

Never hire #UtahDisasterKleanup for fire restoration. They drag their feet and give false dates when they will finish a job. The fire in our complex was in March and renovations were supposed to be completed in July. It is now November and our running loss report is higher than most insurance companies are willing to insure. #UDK takes advantage of the insurance companies and their clients by over charging and not finishing a job on time. Plus they only restore your home to the "original state". It would be beneficial to hire your own contractor and save yourself the headache. Granted they are professional, but that doesn't outweigh the fact they left us uninsurable in the end. read more
