Down to four, two contractors just put together a simple one page bid based on the square footage I gave them. To us this lacked details and they seemed reluctant to put much effort into actually visiting our new home to generate a bid and discussing ideas. Down to two contractors, Centurion caught our attention as they were quicker to respond to all of our questions, to visit our home and provide suggestions for building a better basement while the other builder seemed to be newer in the basement industry and it took several messages to get them to visit our home though they finally did. Both bids came in about the same price but we decided to use Centurion they were more responsive, had more options for us to decide on and we liked that they have been using the same sub-contractors for several years. We had a complete interior remodel of several rooms, including the kitchen, master bath, master…read morecloset, laundry room, and some less extensive remodeling in other rooms. Nearly all of the flooring was replaced (Hardwood, carpet, and tile), many new cabinets, walls removed or moved, a steel beam installed so weight-bearing walls could be removed, installation of new appliances, fixtures, windows, sliding doors, electrical work, plumbing, drywall, painting and more. This was NOT a job for a do-it-yourself-er. Every single day since the remodel we have completely enjoyed our home. It's stunning! Previously it was nice-enough but outdated, and now it is modern and fantastic. If I had wanted a quick and cheap job, I would have chosen someone else. I am very happy with the work that was done, and my interactions with the team. Some things that really made a difference was the professionalism and skill level of the Fine Remodel team, including the office staff. We live on a very steep hill so not just anyone who calls themselves a contractor should be trusted to do this kind of advanced work, but I would trust Fine Remodel to do any job on this house. Mark was knowledgeable, responsive, attentive, personable, and pleasant, even when we felt the need to freak out. The project manager was also great to work with. Certainly this was a complex project that went as well as it could. The team was great to work with. No detail was left un-finished, even though it took some time to tie up loose ends. (It's those stragglers that stay in your memory...so I'm really glad they took the time and energy to take care of every last detail.) Some hiccups along the way included not fitting into anticipated schedule due to delays by subcontractors and suppliers, and due to our own extensive list of additions to the job, upgrades and changes to the plans, we exceeded our budget and added to the timeline. Fine Remodel provided a list cabinet companies, flooring suppliers, etc, and I was free to chose from that list or others. We ran into delays and issues with the cabinet company that we chose from the list, and also with the closet company that was recommended, but ultimately Fine Remodel took full responsibility for making sure it was done right, often stepping in and taking care of issues themselves. I never heard anyone from the Fine Remodel team grumble or swear on site. (Though I cannot say that about some of the sub-contractors who lapsed in professionalism.) We ran into a big snag when the refrigerator did not fit into the cabinetry as I hoped. It was already too late to blame the responsible parties for this goof, but Fine Remodel stepped right in and went to great lengths to make it work. Yay! We've got two bathrooms that did not get remodeled at this time and I hope to take care of those in the future. I wouldn't consider anyone but Fine Remodel to do the job.

In September 2022, I contacted the office and received a very prompt response and was connected with a project manager immediately. He stated he could start my project in December. They estimated my bathroom remodel would be potentially $120,000.00. I thought that was high- but I was hoping for the same responsiveness and high quality for the project. They require a large deposit ($3500). I found once I gave the deposit- everything changed. I was promised a designer that never came through- (the positive comments on the designers were another reason I chose this company). I finally got a designer that was very nice and responsive, however, he didn't really offer me any ideas beyond what I already had in mind and his style wasn't as contemporary as I had hoped. When I questioned his style- I was told- "well, that's all that's available". I discovered the project manager quit and they didn't have the measurements he took in October. Basically, they ended up not having the capacity to properly support my project- they didn't show up for the re-measure and didn't answer my emails. Finally, I asked for a refund. They charged me $350 hour for the designer (when I was quoted a price when they were bidding for the job- they told me designers ranged from $150- $200 hour). Now, I find myself back to the drawing board and out $700. The owner never had the courtesy to acknowledge my poor experience. Perhaps he will now, after a poor review. I would caution anyone with a "small" project (their words) like mine. I'm not sure if a six figure remodel is small in your world- but it's certainly not in mine.

My hot water heater burst last year, and I was referred to Valley Construction to help with the…read moredemo/rebuild of my laundry room. When it happened, they took care of EVERYTHING. I hardly had to lift a finger. They coordinated with my home owners insurance, called all the right people to do mold tests, their project managers were at my house within a day or two. It was incredible. I had a mold remediation person at my house within an hour to test the damage for any black mold, and the crew was setting up fans to dry out my dry wall and flooring within 24 hours. With the demo, I had to rip out the flooring in my laundry room, and it just made sense to redo the floors in both my kitchen and laundry room so that they matched. They brought someone in for samples, everything was so quick and efficient. I also want to give 5 stars to Mike Stone specifically. He was an incredible project manager, so thorough and thoughtful and kind. I will come back here for any future needs because of him specifically. I did have one minor miscommunication - I was told I could be on a payment plan to pay off the remainder of my bill that insurance didn't cover, however a week after being told this was okay and setting up my payment plan, they called back and told me they no longer do payment plans and that I had to pay my bill by the end of the following week. I had such a wonderful experience leading up to this point, so I didn't want to dock a star, especially because they handled the back and forth with both me and my insurance for months. But did want to flag that for anyone else who may have needed a payment plan, this isn't something that they offer. I would still go back to them and use them in the future. Thank you again for being so efficient and for having such a helpful and caring team!

Valley Construction really overdelivers, I thought I only needed some drywall and baseboards, a bit…read moreof mud and some paint, but I basically got a whole new roommate!! If you need a great team to fumble a job, like you've never seen before, this is the best you're going to get!! I'm truly impressed with how many times I've heard "It'll get done tomorrow, for sure"!! So back on February 4th, which was a reschedule from the 2nd, Valley Construction started work to hang, mud, sand, then paint, about 50sq ft of drywall. They would also install baseboards beneath those sections. Total scope of work was quoted at about 1 -2 days. That should have told me all I needed to know, as mud takes about a day to dry. Either way, as of today, the evening of February 24th, they are still not done. Granted, there was one week where we asked them not to come due to a planned vacation, but we would have never needed to if it didn't take almost two weeks to hang and mud. I don't think I've ever experienced a service provider less communicative about their plan or schedule. They text you either the night before, or the day of and tell you someone will be coming by, and some times that person shows up when they said they would, and some times they send another text mid morning and inform you that they decided to do another job first and that they'd come by in the afternoon instead. Some times, the worker(s) work for a solid block of time, some times they leave and you're left wondering if they just went to lunch or decided to go do a different job. Like an automated response, the PM will always text you and tell you that it will get done the next day "for sure," but you'll never know if the worker(s) will actually show. It completely astounds me that they actually asked for a key to the property, citing that they typically have home owners just let them put a lock box on their door, so that they can come and go as needed if the home owner needs to be at work or otherwise out of the house. I'm fortunate to work from home, which has now turned into it's own set of challenges, but there is no way I would ever give this company a key to my house and let them have the freedom to come and go as needed. We'll see if this get's done tomorrow. They managed to sand and paint about 2/3 of the area during the 6 hours or so they were working here today, which admittedly feels accurate, but I'm not placing bets on them wrapping up everything tomorrow. *** IMPORTANT: END OF USER FEEDBACK. We first hired Jeff to patch up the holes on ceiling from plumbing jobs. And he was reasonably priced and showed up on time and finish in the timeline as discussed. He ended with quality workmanship that we decided to have Jeff continue with the decks and doors. This is a pretty good size lower back deck and he first check if it's still structurally sound for refinish. His quote is reasonable once again and he takes time to replace the redwood we forgot it's what we have. All and all he is a great person to have helping beautifying my parents house. Thank you Jeff

Topp Construction (Brandon) is one of the most dishonest companies I have ever had the misfortune…read moreto work with. We paid them $1500 just to find out if our project was feasible or not. We decided not to go w/them since they gave us an estimate that was almost $100,000 more than what we told them we could pay. Months later we received a bill for $6700. As far as we can tell they did absolutely nothing (other than provide an estimate & give us some plans that they drew up that were duplicates of plans that we sent to them). They took us to court & the judge ruled for them. We then discovered that one of Topp Constructions attorneys was a substitute judge for the same court where our hearing was held. In fact the judge hearing our case told some other people in the courtroom what a great substitute judge he was. I got the feeling that our case was decided before it was even started. Can you say coincidence? .....I think not. The contract plainly stated that IF we agreed to go forward (which we did not) that they would bill us bi-weekly. After the initial $1500 we did not receive ANY bill from them until months later for $6700. Apparently the judge didn't seem to think that was a problem & did not hold Topp Construction accountable to that part of the contract. We are not wealthy people & because of the dishonesty of Topp Construction (Brandon & John) we are now out almost $9000 w/absolutely nothing to show for it. Hopefully others can hear of our experience & not go through the stress that we had to. We did NOT hire them, all we were asking for was whether the job was feasible or not. I hope this review will prevent this from happening to anyone else.
