I really like this USPS location. The Postal workers are very nice and helpful and despite it being busy at times I never wait an unbearably long time. I mailed out by passport renewal from this location and I got my passport back in around three weeks, perhaps even less. I was astounded! I was happy the passport got sent out and retuned in a timely manner although obviously time to obtain a renewal will vary, especially during COVID pandemic. The store has a plethora of card and all varieties of gift cards if you need to send off a last minute gift STAT. Packing materials like boxes, envelopes, etc. are available also. I was there on September 11, 2021 and they had a team member putting the flag at half staff at opening which was a very nice remembrance of that tragic day. read more

This is my 2-nd review and nothing change, Horrible office, always line out of the door. Even 2-3 people work you have to spend 20-30 minutes to wait,they are so slow and overmeld. They are taking applications for passports, it takes forever to wait when they will finish. They need to do it in separate room, by appointment, like in another post offices. I would give them and the USPS zero stars if I could. I never write reviews but was compelled to do so because of the incompetence of this branch and their workers. After missing a delivery I was supposed to sign for. I followed the instructions on the pink slip pertaining to having a representative pick up the package the next day. My representative showed up to pick up the package only to be informed that it(the package) was out for delivery and on a truck. The representative questioned how this could happen but was given the absolute pass the buck excuse "I was here when it happened and I'm not sure why it did". I have owned a home in the area this post office services for over 22 years and can say unequivocally, they are the worst around as this is not the first time I have had problems with them, my mail service or sending and receiving packages. For anyone reading this, if given the option to have something sent UPS, Fed Ex or USPS, make the informed choice by reading these reviews. Do not use this location, all of the staff are miserable, their "supervisor" is condescending as talks down to you. They lose packages and accuse you of being at fault and claim their cameras don't work! I hope whoever stole my package enjoys the item! Pay the extra money and use UPS or FedEx, what a costly mistake I made trying to save a few dollars on shipping. What a complete joke, now I am out $1500. The Post Office on Ashton Road in Sarasota, FL leaves much to be desired. I posted a first class letter to the Navy Federal Credit Union , Merrifield, VA in early January and it took 29 days before it arrived. On 16 February, I mailed three separate checks, first class, to American Express. As of today 26 February they have NOT arrive. I checked with American Express and they have received first class mail, with checks, post dated as late as 24 Feb. But from my household, nothing. I physically placed ALL of my important outgoing mail in the office mail slot inside the office building hoping that the mail would be handled promptly. I have used other Sarasota Post Office locations I have experienced ZERO problems but that is NOT the case with the Ashton Road Post Office. I don't know where the problem lies but it appears to be in Sarasota. As of now I will NEVER go back to the Ashton Road Post Office. Apparently, they treat first class mail like junk mail. This post office is open until 230 on Saturday's!! They are life savers. They are nice and courteous every time I have come in here. I also had a PO Box here and they are very helpful. Even when the line seems long, they keep moving pretty quickly. Luis has helped me the past several times that I have come in and he is very nice, knowledgeable and patient. This post office has a friendly staff but today is December 14 and they only have 2 cashier windows open!!!! I've been in line for 30 minutes and I'm only half way through the line!!!!!! And, they work sooooo sloooow!!!! They could care less how long the line is. It's almost intentional on how slowly they work. This post office on Ashton Rd. is hands down one of the worst I've experienced in all my history of using USPS. First of all, their self-serve KIOSK is not user friendly and the keyboard sticks so one has to re-type all the info. To date, it has not been fixed and everyone who uses it walks away in frustration and anger. Two, the staff here is aloof and unfriendly and downright rude. Ray is the name of the worker who helped me and why the USPS would hire someone who mumbles and cannot be heard is beyond me. I'm not old, but three people before me asked him twice to speak up. By the time I got to his counter, he was annoyed and unhelpful to me. Please fix the KIOSK or replace it. We're in the 21st century here and this is a service that patrons use all the time. And also give your staff a lesson in good public relations. read more

Jose earned 5 stars (I'm withholding 1 due to my USPS issues, and not Jose's performance). Jose was extremely courteous and helpful, and took the time to explain to me in detail both the cause of my problems and how to address them and avoid them going forward. Excellent friendly and helpful employees. Everytime I come here they are helpful and patient not just with me, but I see them with other patrons. Given the large seasonal and elderly patrons in this area, it is a miracle these employees can keep their patience and friendly disposition, and yet I can say I have witnessed them do it! The supplies are always stocked regardless of the season you come into the entryway. It's my favorite location to drop off mail. read more

A+++Ashton Post Office rocks! Amazing service from three employees today. Totally unexpected, and on a Saturday no less. I came in unprepared, and someone searched online and persisted until she found the address I needed, as obscure as it was. She even took the time to print something that wasn't her job for me at no extra charge and without hesitation. Another employee was so kind and saved me like $47 by coming up with a better option than I asked for. The final person completed the transaction expeditiously and ensured my cumbersome packages and accompanying paperwork was secure, as well as supplied the receipt with explanation of each tracking number. Customer Service is the worst. The female at the front counter needs to be schooled on customer service. After standing in line, another male clerk left me standing at the front without any communication that he would return. No sign put up. With 12 customers in line, I left his counter go back to the front of the line. At that time the female comes back from break again. I asked a question, she treated me poorly, looked around as if she was annoyed, on just asking a question. At the end of the day, all customers look to them for guidance, if you feel we are to needy, and don't want to be bothered. Then I would say your in the wrong profession, she should work in the back until she is schooled how to be compassionate about her job, even if you work for Government. Postal employees should give the service, that they expect to receive be it personally or professionally. We won't even begin on the poor mail service. They service 200 of us, out of the same hub, lost mail, no mail service, always a different postal worker, left main mail boxes open with mail blown around on the grounds. read more

People give the Postal workers a break - maybe the people are confused what they doing or not happy if there is a line. I go there, I find the postal workers friendly, helpful and try their best. How many times do I see people in line with boxes not closed or not sure what priority mail box to use. They get instructed, put to the side, do their paperwork and then the postal worker takes them after the person he is helping. Believe me, not many Post Offices do that - they tell you what to do and you have to go to the back counter and then go to the end of line. In season the lines are long, so if that is the case, just except it is in season. read more

I don't know if she's going to be my regular postal carrier or not, but the woman who delivered my mail on 10/3/2018 was quite alarming. As I was sitting at my desk around noon, I was shocked to see a postal truck backing all the way down my driveway to my garage door at a high rate of speed. She then pulled forward and stopped at the front walk. This is highly unusual so I jumped up and ran outside. She had a package. I commented that I'd never had a postal truck pull UP in my driveway. She replied, "Well, I do." She handed me the package. I asked if there was mail and she said it was in the mailbox. I waited two minutes for her to pull back out because she made me uncomfortable with her demeanor. She finally stuck her head out the side and said I might as well get the rest of my mail AND HANDED IT TO ME. Why lie and why not give it to me with my package? Here's the extra odd thing: an hour later, she drove back through the neighborhood delivering MORE mail. I would prefer they keep their trucks out of my driveway, since the back flow valve is in the side yard and sometimes when people back out, they run over it. The package was a pair of shoes...flats, not boots....so it wasn't heavy and it is about 100 feet or so from my front door to the street out front. She made me very uncomfortable. read more

I know that one can't really CHOOSE which post office to work with other than when you go into the stores...but I have to say that this particular post office has one of the most rude and ignorant people I have ever had to deal with. I called and spoke to a woman "J" concerned about a very important package. I called on 12/27 and asked if they could hold this package for me and I would pick it up and this woman, in a very curt tone, said that there are no guarantees it would be in and if she could get to the postal worker she would hold it. I asked if I should call back, she said yes. I called later in the day and spoke to a gentlemen there who told me he couldn't find it and it must have been sent out for delivery. Then I called again a little later when I didn't receive it and I spoke to Robin who was very nice. She said to call in the morning because she also couldn't find it. When I called in the morning, "J" answered once again. This time she was even more rude. She cut me off as I tried to explain to her that I called to see if they held it...she cut me off on about 4-5 occasions, I finally got upset and loud with her and her response was to hang up on me. I called back, and in a more calm voice spoke to her about the package, when I told her I'd be working and I'd now like it delivered she laughed at me! I couldn't believe it!!! I called the main USPS and I am filing as many complaints with as many people as I can. If you ever have the please of working with this woman "J" (her first initial) please be prepared for the worlds most rude, insensitive, ignorant person you wlll ever deal with. read more

I suspect that this is the slowest, most inefficient PO in the lower 48. Staffed by seniors who take their old sweet time and I'm sure have no fear of ever being dismissed by the Government. The self help area was littered and the mail deposit box was not accepting and more packages(full). I have been using this PO for years and the situations is always about the same.
