I've always had great service when I've gone to this post office - much better than my hometown PO. The packages I send from this hub get to their destinations in record time (A 2-3 day priority mail package got to MD in 1 day recently). I've gotten great advice on how to pack a box so items don't get broken and the most economical and speedy way to send packages. If you live in the Chicago area, AVOID THE CAROL STREAM POST OFFICE AT ALL COSTS! The ladies who work there are such RUDE individuals, I can't believe they're still employed. If they worked anywhere else, they would have been fired so fast. First- one lady tells me to fill out a customs form and come back to the desk (I was shipping an item to Canada, which is always tricky). Well, she only told me to fill out the white parts of the form with my name and address, not the green parts with the weight and declared value. So I did what she said, brought it to another lady, and she blatenly said, "you didn't fill out the form" with the worst attitude I've ever encountered. I advised her that her co-worker told me to fill out the white part. From that point on, I kind of blacked out. She literally argued with me, did her little attitude, and when I said that people are so rude here, she said, "well I wonder why... " implying that it's because of ME that I have rude postal service workers. Every TIME I encounter this lady, she never smiles, never says hello, never says thank you, she's just. plain. RUDE. Well, we went on to argue and I asked for her manager; how convenient that her manager wasn't there that day. Like I said, I kind of blacked out with rage so I can't recant all of the details, but when I walked outside, another customer told me she always had the same problem and she's complained and they just treat her like dirt. So my point is, avoid this place like the plague. These people think they're entitled because they have a comfy government job. Well we are still customers and we CAN take our business elsewhere- I will no longer be supporting the Carol Stream post office and I will take all of my packages to UPS from now on since it's right down the road. I'm going to write a letter to the mayor as well as complain with the USPS corporate. It probably won't do a bit of good, but these people are getting paid with OUR tax money and they think they can just treat us like this?? Oh, the best part- when I left, she said, "have a good day! I know I will!" I turned around and said, "you're lucky you even have a job, if you worked anywhere else you'd be fired". read more

Worse post office ever! The employees are so rude and if you don't obey there orders you get heckled! Make sure not to step up to the line til your called! I've seen the employees fighting with customers and talking crap about customers to there coworkers. Unfortunately I have to deal with this because they are the closest and have the best hours. Without being one of these typically bigoted morons that likes to use *RACE* as a determining factor of service , I have had more than my fair share of problems and issues with Carol Stream PO . Ordered something through UPS , with them transferring my package over to USPS . Was supposed to be delivered 9/22/18 ....as of 10/01/18 , it's still in Carol Stream , and has not moved . This has happened a few other times with this particular hub . Tried calling the 1-800 # to speak to someone , and the wait is like an hour long . Need to fire everyone over there , and start over . I live less than a mile from this office. Ever since the Glendale Heights office closed my mail has either not arrived or been damaged or sent back marked "refused" when I've never seen it at all. The incompetence and laziness of the staff at this office can't be explained in words. Some days, I get no mail at all, not even junk mail. When I order packages from Amazon, the post office sends them back "refused" without ever informing me they arrived. I don't think they even leave the postal facility at all. When I phoned to track a package I was told "It's in a warehouse in Cleveland" and it would arrive the next day. I got a message saying it had been returned, instead. When WOW! cable tried to send me a message from their office 2 miles from my house, in Carol Stream, it took eleven days to arrive. Let me repeat -eleven days to travel 2 miles. The worst suburban post office outside of the incompetent Chicago PO. The mail persons have no one to answer to and like the other reviews, except for possibly one nice lady Shirley, they are aweful! The mailman in reference to my complaint has been "smokin' the Cheech & Chong" and can't deliver or even pick up mail. I have mailed rent checks 3 times and only 1 was received, and two weeks late! When the recipient asks the "dude" where his mail is, he gets a "duh, I dounno" and when he left out going mail in the mail box he got the same dufus response. I hate to say it, but I personally know a mentally challenged individual who got in a drug fueled car accident that received a 50k / year job there! This is the slowest office of any kind I have ever seen in this country. The women working there are half asleep. One of them has such long tips is unable to type - she has to push the buttons with a pencil!! Would this even be allowed at any regular work place?? These women have been there for years; yet, I noticed that one of them still had to measure standard USPS boxes with a tape to figure out the size and pricing. No memory cells in the brain, or what? After YEARS of handling these boxes she can't remember which is which? Last time I went there, there were 15 people in line, 3 women at the desk. After 5 minutes, the line moved up by ONE person. I gave up, I don't have a spare hour to watch slow people. They take forever to search for anything - isn't there a way to sort the packages somehow? I dread every time I have to go there to pick up a package, and I buy a pile of stamps each time, to avoid any contact with these people, as much as possible. read more

This place must be a black hole because I now have a second package that has shipped out through there and never gone past the Carol Stream location. It is not my choice, it gets sent to Carol Stream from my post office to be processed and shipped out. The first time, the tracking showed it in Carol Stream for a whole month, and as far as I know, it never left. It was a return package and I had to call the company and beg them for a refund even though they didn't get the package. Now I have a second package that seems to be stuck in Carol Stream. I'm not even sure if these people are lazy or if someone is stealing packages, but USPS- you should investigate this location. Absolutely unacceptable. read more

It took more than 3 weeks for a mere registered letter to get from here to New York. All these people should be FIRED! The postmaster here is a complete fool and should be the first to go. The delivery of my daughter's hard earned college diploma came folded in half in an envelope that states in bold capital letters, DO NOT FOLD USPS APPROVED FLAT. They move VERY SLOW and do not seem interested in ever picking up the pace. I work for a business in the area that relies heavily upon the postal service and our regualr mail carrier is outstanding. However, let him take a day off and we don't get mail until I call and say where is the mail and here is the answer... The regular carrier is off and they look for all kinds of excuses as to why the mail is not delivered or picked up! NOT ACCEPTABLE... Arrived at 11:45 am to mail a letter and ask a question about postage. Six persons in line with mail packages, etc. Two postal employees at the counter. One was working hard and seemed very contentious. The other was playing with some kind of hand held device, had a surly could have cared less look on her face, and just sat there ignoring everyone. Not having time to waste I went to the drive through mail box and skipped asking my question. Any wonder the postal service continues to slide down hill. When will they ever add service to their training and measure their employees. Many seem to think they are protected and entitled. I would vote privatize the USPS so the lazy employees can be put out to pasture. Maybe there is a retired postal workers farm in Wisconsin. read more

In the last year the Carol Stream sort facility has lost 5 pieces of my mail from 60110. Additionally, mail from 60110 takes anywhere from 5 - 20 days to get to 60074. Yesterday I received a #10 envelope postmarked March 3rd at the Carol Stream facility, 19 days to deliver! Earlier this month on March 8th I received another #10 envelope also postmarked on March 3rd, this one only took 5 days to deliver. What is going on at that sort facility? I can send mail from 60074 to 60110 and it gets there in 1-2 days. If Carol Stream USPS understaffed or mismanaged? Try to call the post office to complain, good luck. This post office embodies every stereotype imaginable. All but one of the counter personnel are rude, surly and not at all helpful. I have always tried to be pleasant and cheerful, only to be met with dirty looks and non-responses. I avoid going here whenever possible. Unfortunately, now having delivery issues. No mail the past two weekends. Correction-I did not receive my mail. I received mail Friday evening for three other addresses. Just none for my address. The Postal employees here are extremely helpful and very nice. The line moves pretty fast even when certain customers need some extra help and assistance. This location accepts outgoing mail at the counter until 7pm and will take outgoing mail in the box until 8pm (the automated attendant/postage machine is open 24/7 which is awesome!). read more

Wow - I cannot express my extreme disappointment with this post office. We had a small, flat mailbox nameplate mailed to us in Kentucky from Illinois that unfortunately went through this office. It was no thicker than a maybe 2-3 pieces of paper and was taped to the inside of a thicker Christmas card. Because of their mishandling of this card/nameplate, we received a ripped up envelope with NO nameplate. This momento of our family who has passed cannot be replaced and we are heartbroken. Boy, when I mail something from the Carol Stream PO it arrives in record time - always. I love the kiosks; it's where I do all my mailing. And....even when I have to stand in line for a live person, I am astounded at how fast the line moves. I'd say they were doing pretty well - especially these days when talk about cutting back on delivery and personnel is all the rage. All those complaining - how would no delivery be, and no post office staff? Some will say "great" but I'm betting you don't mean it. So much is taken for granted. read more

Unbelievably slow service at this Carol Stream hub. Usually there are only two people at the counter, both of them are black and both have 2" long fingernails which slow down their 'keying' of information. Usually only one of the ladies is actually working with customers. The delivery service out of this facility is just as poor. It's not unusual for mail originating from Carol Stream, being sent TO Carol Stream, to take 2 days or more. Two Septembers ago, my carrier delivered an Ebay purchase to another address. She remembered where she delivered it to and her supervisor supplied a letter describing the mis-delivery. The package was sent 'Priority' and was automatically insured. My claim for the lost package, valued at a mere $20, was continually turned down for fulfillment. I pursued this claim ALL THE WAY to Washington DC, where a nameless, faceless rubber-stamping individual turned my claim down. A consumer affairs representative by the name of Sheila advised me to appeal the denial, as even SHE could not figure out the reason for the denial of a 'cut and dried' straightforward case with all corroborating paperwork and evidence. STILL, the claim was denied. I resubmitted the claim a last time with all paperwork again and this last time, it was simply ignored (either that, or lost in the mail.). The mail service needs to be privatized. Service like this is just not 'service'. read more

I am IRATE and I am not a negative person. I live in DeKalb and have a package going through the Carol Stream distribution center. They've had it for 3 days and the expected delivery date isn't for another 2. It's literally 45 minutes away from my house, why should it take 5 days to get here? I called 3 times and let the phone ring for almost 5 minutes each time before someone FINALLY answered. I asked if they could put my package aside so I could just come and pick it up myself, and the woman I spoke with said she didn't know where it was and couldn't track it because what I see on my computer regarding tracking info, is exactly what she would see if she tried to look it up. Are you Fing kidding me? Thanks for trying. Any other time ANYTHING else has been mailed here in DeKalb and gone through a different center (Hodgkins, Chicago, Rockford, Elk Grove, etc) it's been here the NEXT day. This is completely ridiculous. Even the mail I send to and from Indianapolis, Indiana (hometown) is delivered the next day, two days at the MOST. Based on the other reviews I've just read on here I guess I shouldn't be surprised. By the way, the DeKalb post office is completely amazing. I called and spoke with them about my package and they also confirmed the package should have been delivered by now and they've always been very helpful. Good luck to those in Carol Stream. read more
