To Whom it may Concern: The staff is the most patient, considerate, knowledgeable, hard working group I have ever seen. I used to do mail runs at the Sears Tower/Willis Tower for a messenger company and I assisted in doing mid-day mail runs. I was overwhelmed and shocked of the amount of patience that was needed to deliver each and every package and the attention to detail that was needed to deliver the most important time sensitive parcels. The staff at the Carol Stream front desk is to be commended for all of their hard work and patience. I do understand because of the pandemic crisis deliveries can be their hardest. I used twice in last two weeks, no one showed at counter after almost 10 minutes 1st time. Today 1 person at counter took twenty minutes with 1 customer while line grew to fifteen people with no one called or coming to help. Exactly fits every stereotype of government workers. Wow... This is THE hub for US mail in DuPage county and it's a disgrace. I'm writing this review in line... As I have already been waiting a half hour and should put my times towards SOMETHING useful. There are two employees processing patrons at a SLOTH pace (I have no idea what is slower than a snail's pace...) Unfortunately I'm here for passport processing and they have us 'passport people' herded over into a separate line. Only one of the two employees can handle 'us.' It's Friday people. I've already blown through my lunch hour. Bloomingdale PO decided its not processing passports today... but even the 'normal mail' people are waiting... and waiting... and waiting.... I have been ordering things online and understand some things will take a while to get to me. HOWEVER, when you ordered masks online 5 MONTHS ago and they have been at this post office according to the tracking for almost the 5 months? Is ridiculous! I have called and called but if it is not the automated message, no one answers the phone! Then it happened again. I ordered a bathing suit with FAST SHIPPING. Was suppose to have it by July 19th. According to tracking it has wound up in this very post office. And wouldn't you guess...still doesn't want to answer the phone! Am I ever going to get my packages?!?! Most of the stuff I order goes through other post offices without an issue. But all 3 items (2 masks and now swimsuit) that have gone through this post office has YET to come out of the dark hole of a post office. I am seen MULTIPLE reviews with people having the same issue. Why hasn't this place been looked into? Why are these issues still going on? The USPS in general I've been having problems with lately, but this post office isn't as bad as people are saying in my opinion. Most of the time the ladies behind the desk are nice. I have had 1 or 2 who seemed like they hated their job. Been going here a lot lately and shipping things and it's annoying when the line wraps around the room yet they only have 2 people at the desk. Then there are 2 more people in the back. I mean they could be doing important things back there, who knows. On this beautiful day, I'd like to thank the courier in postal vehicle 4312723 for tailgating me mercilessly down Swift Road. Perhaps he or she was taking the quote from Herodotus to the extreme. Quite frankly, if this person gotten any closer to me they could have introduced themselves. As far as I'm concerned, there is no reason for this kind of discourtesy from a federal employee who, more than likely, enjoys some fairly decent benefits from that government job. Clearly, I have no gripes from the postal service; my mail appears to come and go and arrive as need be and I have no gripes for those workers who do their jobs with care and safety. But, with all due respect, I hope the driver of 4312723 realizes he or she has a job and that they are expendable ... perhaps giving said job to someone more worthy of the quote by Herodotus. USPS - Post Offices Near Me - Carol Stream, Illinois

Some of the postal workers at the counter are friendly enough, but that is the exception., Most of them are clearly in no hurry to move the line along. I've never seen more than two people working the counter, even when the line stretches out the door (unless maybe they have a third that is only doing passports). Much like the DMV, this place is the epitome of unmotivated unhappy government workers. My biggest complaint is about putting mail on hold. The USPS web site has a page where you can request your mail to be held. Every time I do this, it never works. My mail is either not held and the mailman just continues to stuff it in the box until it is full, or sometimes it is on hold and when I go to the post office to remove it from hold, I end of getting held mail 2 weeks later! Every time I complain about my mail not being held correctly, they tell me I can't use the web site to do it because it doesn't work. read more

I think The Postman either can't read or blind. I don't have problem when I picked up my package at this office location. Yes, the line was long and they were only 2 people working there every time I was there. They have been helping me out pretty good. But the thing that drags their rating down from me is the mail delivery. Lately I did not receive all my mail but it's OK. It's not the end of the world. The worst part is a delivery of weekly sales paper. They either come late or don't come at all. It's getting worse and worse. This week, the postman delivered a last week sales papers which is already expired. You tell me, how good was that? Can't you read? And where is this week sales paper? I used to call and complaint, they gave me the 1800 number to call but it's just a tape recorder. I don't think anybody listen to the complaint or take it seriously. The Post Office better do something about their service. They give Carol Stream a bad name. Carol Stream is a very nice town with so many nice things. Yes, I am giving a post office 5 stars. I went here today with a package that I had to ship to China. This is an unbelievably hard task. I had GREAT customer service from the clerk who helped me. Here's the back story....my teenage son bought something online which didn't work. I had to file a paypal dispute and return the item to China. The address they gave me was difficult to understand and they told me I had to have the package tracked to it's final destination. Apparently when you are shipping something international, they track it to customs and then it's big money to go to the final destination. The clerk helped me figure out my options, helped me tape everything up, helped me decipher the address that paypal gave me and even made me feel better by telling me something stupid her teenage son did. Of course, there was a really long line behind me because there were only 2 clerks working the desk and I monopolized one of them, but I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Now if it was only cheaper to ship it, I REALLY would have been happy. Being a parent to teenage boys is not for wimps! read more

This place can get pretty packed and be a little slow moving. The employees often seem unmotivated and really look like they don't want to be there. However, they have always been nice to me, so I can't complain too much. I'm just rehashing what I have witnessed while waiting in the long line. The hours are nice though. I've bumped up my rating because the Carol Stream Post Office has done a very good job of resolving my mail forwarding issues . Also, even though it's been forever-and-a-day since I've been to this location Shirley, one of the postal employees, recognized me from over a year and a half ago when I would come pick up mail because there was no delivery at our house (it was new construction). She was surprised to hear I had moved after such a short period of time. I have admit it was kind of nice to have that personal touch that I thought had been lost. All in all, though the Carol Stream post office does have some ways to go on getting their delivery service in order, their customer service has definitely improved as far as I'm concerned. read more

I had ordered a package which was supposed to be delivered on Monday September 23. The package was scanned and delivered according to the post office notification and amazon notification. To my surprise the package had not yet been delivered. I received another notice saying the package had been delayed, to expect it to come on the 24. I waited patiently. Once again it did not show up. I head over to the Post Office in Carol Stream and they told me that the package had been delivered on the 23rd and that they can't do anything to about the situation. So now I'm left with no package and no body seems to know where my package is. I also want to note that it was one day delivery and the package inside is well over one hundred dollars. This post office regularly holds shipments at the station without scanning them. So when we present our customers with a tracking number it only says "A shipping label has been prepared for your item at time/date in CAROL STREAM, IL 60188. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date.". This makes it look like we're slacking when it's this post office being lazy not doing their job and just holding packages at the station without scanning them until I call and complain to the post master or someone else. read more

I have come to the conclusion that there are some very dishonest thieves working at this location. Over the course of the last month, I have had TWO DIFFERENT packages sent from the same retailer completely disappear at this postal facility. The tracking numbers from each of the two different packages would show "movement" UNTIL the packages arrived at this facility. Then all of a sudden, the packages moved no further (according to the tracking numbers) and NEVER arrived at my house. The USPS NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE this facility!! when you call 5664 or 5665 no one answers. the supervisor is supposedly 5565 or 5665. people who work there speak so quickly and drag their words that you have to ask them to please repeat; and then they speak the same way. do job candidates ever get qualified for their skill sets or just name tossed at different jobs? If you call the front desk they give your their supervisor's number - but the supervisor they've said is never in. if you call delivery at 5664 or 5564, a nice guy answers but he always needs a couple of hours until he can get back; and then that is a mystery as to whether he will or not. read more

If I could give this post office a negative rating I would. I had to contact the boss there because of a problem I had with my own Post Office (Warrenville, IL) because the Carol Stream PO is the regional office. The man (I can't remember his name now) was not only rude but he was incompetent and he made it clear that he couldn't care less about the issue I was having. He did absolutely nothing to resolve it. He was even eating when I called him and he just kept eating while talking. He treated my concern as if it was a big joke and showed absolutey no concern at all. I mentioned the problem I was having to a retired postal worker that I see everyday at my local dog park. It turns out that that man worked for the Carol Stream PO for many years. He told me some very disturbing things. He said that the Postmaster at that office regularly stole things that were owned by the Post Office and that stealing was a part of their culture and that everyone did it there. In fact, the retired postal worker insisted that stealing at the post office by employees is not illegal "because it's part of the culture and everyone has always done it." I am not making that up! I see that retired employee several times a week and he still insists that it's OK for post office employees to steal at the Carol Stream PO. Here are a couple specific examples of what he said goes on there: 1) The Carol Stream post office needed a new lawnmower so they ordered one. The Postmaster took it home for himself and brought in his beat up old mower from his home for the Post Office. The taxpayer bought him a new mower, according to the retired postal worker. 2) Code required that a window in a door be frosted and have security wire in it. He said the Postmaster received funds to change the door but he kept the money and just bought a can of spray paint and painted the window. 3) He said that the Postmaster purposely inflated his yearly budget and kept excess funds for himself at the end of the year. 4) He said they requested funds for various things but just kept the money when they received it. 5) Books were cooked (according to the retired postal worker) and records were altered so funds could be stolen. These are just examples. I don't know if they are true or not but, from what the man said, I have no reason to think he was lying. But what was most disturbing was that he absolutely insisted that is not illegal for postal workers to steal because they have always done it. Another man at the dog park is a retired policeman and he told the postal worker that what was going on at the Carol Stream office (if what the retired postal worker said was true) was most certainly illegal but the man insisted that it wasn't because everyone at that PO did it and it was just part of the PO culture. I contacted the USPS in Washington D.C. about this and also about the original problem that I had with my PO that led to all of this. They were incredibly rude. No private business could stay in business if they behaved like they did. I should mention that since complaining about what had originally happened to me (long story), my PO is now sending much of my mail back to the sender. They are clearly retaliating because of my complaint and our Postmaster refuses to even talk to us. You can hear him in the back room telling someone else to get rid of us. I can't believe that anyone would hire the people that work at the Carol Stream post office! They are slow, rude, incompetant and dirty. When I had them hold my mail during a vacation, they lost it. When I went to pick it up they couldn't find a weeks worth of mail. Yesterday, I was mailing a package and when I asked the person working behind the counter a question, she mumbled something in response that was not understandable. I noticed her uniform was filthy. Are there no standards at all for coherency or cleanliness? I have never been in any other facility where the workers are worse. No store, no office, no factory, would hire these people. They get NO stars! I've never had anything but problems with 4 woman running the center. They are slow and talk nasty to people. When I tried to get a key for my mailbox, they blamed everyone and their mother for a reason I didn't have it and then did the same when I needed to get the mail they were not sending to my mailbox! It only gets worse! I gave my fiance permission to forward his mail to my PO Box during a temporary time he was living in my apartment until we moved into our new place. Shortly thereafter he committed suicide. Since then, I've been marking all his mail "Deceased, Return to Sender" and putting it back in the box. I filled out two stop orders, yet still get the mail. I finally went to the counter to ask how to get his mail stopped to my PO Box and they ALL got nasty and in a screaming match with me while other customers were there to witness it. They gave me every excuse under the sun as to why things weren't being taken care of from new clerks to claiming their was a sticker with his name on it on the box, which I subsequently told them there wasn't because I reached in and removed it myself to get them to stop putting his mail in there. I told them to put a huge sign under my box on their end of saying only my mail should go in there and not his. They said they needed to ask someone if he was on the order. I said he was NEVER on the order because I was the one who opened the box. She said, "I wasn't talking to you!" I said, "I am talking to you and telling you he was never on it, so stop putting the mail with his name on it in my box." Then the stupidest one of the bunch tells me, "He is the only one can fill out the form to stop the mail going to the box so he has to come in here and do it." I said, "The man shot himself in the mouth with a gun and is dead!!!! How the hell is he going to come in here and fill out a form to stop the mail with his name on it from going to my PO Box?" And her words were, "Well, that's not my problem!" The USPS needs to send these ladies to a training course on customer service. They didn't care about ANY customer (me or anyone who could hear them screaming at me) and showed no compassion, concern or helpfulness in dealing with an issue that is their expertise, while I should have been focusing on grieving the loss of my fiancé. read more

I put a hold on my mail and my neighbor told me that she hadn't received her mail for several days and walking past my house she noticed that my mailbox was stuffed with mail. She checked it and it was all of her missing mail in my mailbox. Several months ago I had placed a different hold and that time, upon my return, my held mail was not delivered to my home. The post office had identified my home as vacant and all mail had been 'returned to sender.' I should have learned a "hold" lesson that first time. read more

Had a package coming in through UPS with final delivery thorough USPS. UPS tracking said they left the package at this local Carol Stream post office for delivery on 9/10, 2 days after it shipped and was scheduled for delivery to my home on 9/14. It is now 9/18, I have called this post office three separate times, was finally passed up to the manager who said that "finding [my] package was going to be like finding a needle in a haystack" and that he has no clue where it could be. One star is waaaaaaaay too nice! I would give negative stars!! I called because they haven't picked up the outgoing mail at my apartment building since before Valentine's Day... It's almost Easter...... When i called to ask why, the lady said "she said she picks it up everyday!" And then asked me how I know it's in there and I said "I took my flashlight and looked!"
