The day we came it was raining, it was not crowded at all, two people were working, and it was our first time using the service. There was a man with a very large dog checking out. As we tried to walk in the man had to sit on his dog to keep it from lunging, as the dog barked and snarled at our dog. Why is this dog even allowed on the premises? US was clean enough, but the staff could not have been less helpful. They just pointed to a stall and told us we could use that one. The first time I went a nice employee walked me through how everything works, which was very helpful to me as a first time dog owner. They have different kinds of shampoos in you are in need of something extra that the norm. My dog had dandruff so this came in handy. They have a dog groomer there sometimes as well which is convenient since I had to get my dogs nails cut. I'm sure she'd still rather not have a bath, but she doesnt shake anymore. Win. They have a general shampoo which smells good but isn't too strong. If you're a fan of ginormous, long haired, mischievous dogs like I am, you also know it's a pain to get your dog squeaky clean. You home bathtub doesn't hold your monster Fido, AND even if it did, you'd be spending the next day extracting dog hair from the drain and wiping down your bathroom walls from all the suds and dog-infused water he's shaken off. And you can't really tie your dog to anything at home, so he's apt to try to escape from the water. It's also expensive to take long-haired big dogs to the groomers ($80+) and they often require proof of vaccinations (which I know you have, but don't carry with you in the car). Yes, there are many obstacles that stand in the way of washing your giant furry friend, which is why when I discovered Ushampooch, I was in dog heaven. A few blocks away from the Redondo Beach dog park, Ushampooch is an independent "self-serve dog wash" that lets you rent a stall with all the proper dog grooming ameneities for under $16. All you have to do is add water + dog + you in a plastic apron. They've really thought of everything to make your self-dog wash experience as easy and fuss free as possible. You rent a little enclosed stall that comes equipped with a 3-feet industrial sink, which is high enough for most dogs not to jump out. There's even a mini staircase for your dog to walk up into the bathtub/ sink! You get a short leash that clips onto a hook in the wall so that you doggie only has 5 inches or so to move around, which will make it easy for you to hose him down. You get an easy to use hose spray for the water and a pressure sprayer than shoots out instantly sudsy shampoo, so it's super easy to create a lather. The best amenities are when you dry and groom. You get a grooming table to stand your dog, and an industrial dryer than blows high pressure cold air, so you won't ever burn him. Of course, he'll be wiggling around and won't like it, but after a few trips he'll get use to it (and he won't have a choice because he's strapped down on that short leash!). They also provide fancy pooch colognes (organic lavender, green tea) as well as Q-tips and alcohol to clean out the the inside of your doggie's ear, something I never even knew people did before I visited UShampooch. You can also ask for clippers and a comb to give that coat a trim. I usually spend a lot of time cutting out knots and matted parts, and being able to trim my dog while tied down is a godsend. After the hard work (it's tiring for your pooch to be standing too) they give biscuits for doggie and candy for you. They also make homemade dog cookies there! The people who work there are generally very helpful and will let you know the steps to groom (brush, then rinse with water, brush again, shampoo, towel dry, blow dry, brush again), so if you've never played groomer, this is the place to start. This place is great! I've been to DIY dog wash places before but none like this one. Most places have the tubs lines up pretty close to each other which usually results in my dog being really stressed out the entire time and making the whole experience really difficult. This place has a little area with a gate for each tub, they have a variety of brushes , towels and scrubbers as well as ear wash, a dryer and a conditioning spray. Even though the price is slightly high ($17) they give you an entire bottle of shampoo and special shampoos are only 1 dollar more. The staff is also really nice and helpful. read more

I got an email about a random upcoming appointment so I called them to let them know that I am unable to make this mystery appointment because I work at that time. Then they sent me an email stating I missed an appointment and I had 24 hours to reschedule. To make a long story short, they ended up keeping my money. This is the only self service dog wash I've been to, so I cannot compare to others. But, I've been here twice now and have consistently had a pleasant experience. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The first time I was there, they walked me through the setup and what I was supposed to do. And, while I hear they can get busy, I've never had to wait more than 2 min for a space. The only thing I don't like too much is the shampoo. It comes out a foamer - which I'm guessing is for cost efficiency - but it seems like I need to put so much on just to get a suds going. Thankfully I am moving back to the South Bay and I brought Lexy here yesterday. The lady at the register actually remembered me and my dog! Talk about making a customer feel at home! I have a very spoiled and baby-like Bulldog who is not very good with groomers so I prefer to give him baths myself. Doing it at home in the tub is such a back-breaker and a serious hassle so whoever came up with the idea of these AMAZING places, you sir/madam have my eternal gratitude! I really liked this place! I took my bully, Ham, to another similar business that is closer to my house for pure convenience, but it wasn't nearly as clean and easy to use as uShampooch. My husband and I brought our two dogs here for the first time yesterday. When we walked in we were greeted very warmly by Lily. The first thing I noticed was how well organized and clean everything was! The stalls had everything you need to bathe your dog including shampoo, leave in conditioner, various brushes, ear cleaner with q-tips and cotton swabs, aprons, towels, a blow dryer and even a special treat. We upgraded to specials shampoos that are available for $1 more. It was so much easier bathing our dogs in the large basins that are high enough that you don't need to lean over at all. Afterwards, I showed Lily that I had checked in on yelp and our dogs each received a free organic marrow bone which they loved! The prices are extremely reasonable and the service was top notch. I used to go to a big retailer groomer for my welsh corgis grooming needs but it started to get expensive. I yelped a self service dog grooming salon and found Ushampooch. I don't think I will ever go anywhere else again. Here's why: 1) clean facilities! When you get a stall, it's been vacuumed and cleaned of the previous dogs hair. The towels are folded and ready to go. Bottles are full of product. Apron is dry. And my dogs favorite, there's a treat waiting. 2) friendly staff. I didn't know where the location was. The woman on the phone was helpful, clear, and patient. Once I got there, It was my first time (clearly, with a "what do I do first" face) and the young man explained how it all works and what each bottle was and when to use it. I asked for a skin sensitive shampoo and it was only $1 extra. So worth it. 3) functional work station. Everything you could possibly need to wash your dog as best you can yourself is there. I'm no pro but my dog looks great, lol! 4) the price. you can't beat $16 wash. You get everything you need PLUS spending quality time with my pup is always nice. 5) lily. I don't know her outside of the five minute conversation we had, but she was kind, respectful, and courteous. I told her I would write a review and she asked me to be COMPLETELY HONEST even if it meant that my review was poor. She was really looking for ways to improve - none of which I can think of. All the treats are healthy with no processed ingredients. If you have an older dog I recommend looking at the kelp food. There are also no chemicals in the shampoo which actually helps their skin rather than drying it out, like previous dog washes I've been to. I've been bringing my 95 lb Catahoula here since they opened and she loves it. I really thought it silly to not wash my dog in the backyard and let her air dry, and then learned the difference of the warm water to clean all 3 layers of her coat, and the necessity of her being dried completely with the dryer so that there's no lingering damp dog smell, as with outside air drying. After the initial first hesitation of getting in the huge tub, she now goes with no resistance, and I swear she smiles when being dried!! They have a huge selection of only the best human grade foods, also stocked for my cat, along with beautiful accessories for walking, sleeping, and playing. I really want to like this place but it gets worse each time I come here. The inconsistency is an inconceivable way to run a business. I have my dogs nails trimmed every two weeks and call before I come. They typically have someone until 1:30 who comes around 9 or 10. She has now taken off Wednesday's and so I've been coming on Thursday's. I called Thursday morning to make sure she was going to be there (because they're notorious for turning you away at the door) and made sure she was going to be here 9-130 today. I arrive at 10am and she had left, and they were unsure of when she would be back. How do you run a business like this? Might I also mention, the woman at the front (who I've never seen in my year of coming) was atrocious and so rude. Don't accept walk-ins for nail trimming, require an apt if it's sooooo hard for you to keep a groomer there. read more

This place is great! I had never given my dog a bath, we usually took her to the groomer's. But it took a long time to get an appointment and my fur baby, Bella was itchy and miserable. We brought her in for a bath in the hopes it would make her feel better. The owner was awesome when helping us pick out the right shampoo and explaining how everything worked. Bella loved the treats and the bath. I could do it at home but It's so nice to not have to clean up after we're done and my back doesn't ache from bending over. Highly recommend! read more

Her wonderful attitude shows in the improvements she has made in a short time. The changed decor and the station improvements, along with more open space, adds a nice touch to the surroundings. Judy, the dog groomer is a warm , friendly person that is very helpful in fullfilling your dogs needs. She clips my dogs nails and he hasn't complained yet. Each wash station has everything you need, the wash tubs can accomendate any size dog, towels, shampoo, and blow dryers are provided. Also solution and cotton balls to clean the dogs ears. After you are done washing the dog, a grooming table is in each station to finish drying your dog, then you can use the blow dryer, brush him or her and then leave the mess for them to clean up, this is worth it alone, I can't imagine the time and effort it would take me to wash my dog in the bathtub at home, and then clean up-no thanks! Give Ushampouch a try, you won't be disappointed, great owner,dog groomer and staff. My dog, a Sheba Inu won't let me take him anywhere else. We have been bathing our dogs at Ushampooch for years. I was worried when I heard that the owners we knew and loved (John and Lisa), were selling the business. I shouldn't have worried. The new owner Lilly has been great. She has been friendly and helpful and it is apparent that she loves dogs. The entire staff has always been friendly and helpful. The shop is clean and inviting. The doggy peripherals are well stocked with a good selection. They provide everything you need to bathe and dry your dog. They have a storage area if you buy your own shampoo. I used to hate bathing the dogs. Going to Ushampooch has made the task a lot less painful. read more

I have never washed my own dog so this was all a new experience for me and my dog. The lady that was there was so helpful. She even helped me get my do in the the bath LOL The stall was very clean. We got a couple of fresh clean towels, shampoo, a dryer, ear cleaner, cotton swabs, and of course a treat for my doggie. Since this was all a new experience my dog was going crazy trying to get out of the bath, so we left a wet mess. Self wash is AWESOME! Employees were friendly from the start. Everything you need is provided. The space is clean, functional and thoughtfully laid out.
