He texted updates as he got close to my home. He goes wherever you tell him the vehicle is located. Mike was very professional and polite. He explained his entire process before doing anything. When he was done checking over my new wheels, Mike explained his findings and answered all my questions. He is very thorough and emails you pictures of the car (inside and out), as well as a spreadsheet indicating everything good and (possibly) not so good going on with that vehicle. I purchased a restomod 6 months ago. I live far away and couldn't inspect the car personally so I hired this company. If you want a basic inspection they would be fine for looking at paint and wheels and such. After receiving the car and driving it for a few months it broke down. The mechanic who looked a little deeper found many issues with the car that were never revealed by the inspection. Basically the engine could lock up at any time so it isn't really safe to drive. The transmission shifts very sloppy severely limiting power output (claimed to be 800hp). The brake line is being pinched and can only be fixed by raising suspension. The battery wasn't secure and if it fell over the car could've caught fire. So now I have to sell the car at a huge loss. And this was a 220k restomod. Not something cheap you would expect to get and immediately have to dump thousands of dollars in. So they will kick the wheels and give it a spin but this company doesn't do much more than an average joe could. read more

I just hired mike to inspect a 1965 GTO... I was very impressed and it was money well spent. He fully understands classic cars and knows what to look for. He identified the issues and provided me with a great understanding of what the potential issues were and how they may be fixed... I think the best thing that mike did was provide me a clear understanding of the severity of the issue. He was clear about what items were a big deal and the ones that weren't. I located my dream car in Fort Worth, Texas at a local Jaguar dealership. Being in Los Angeles, I was very nervous how to proceed. Of course I was told the car was immaculate and in perfect condition, but who really knows the integerity of a salesperson/dealership. I spoke to several Fort Worth auto repair shops that do pre-purcahse inspections (found on Yelp!!) but they only did inspections if you brought the vehcile to them. Since the car was at the dealership, I had to find a mobile inspector. One of the garages recommended Used Car Detectives. After a little internet research, I decided to give them a call. I could not have been more pleased. First of all, the price quoted and actually charged was about 40% less than others quoted on the internet. Secondly, time being of the essence, they agreed to inspect the vehicle the very next day. Sure enough, they showed up on time and did the inspection, created the report along with dozens of pictures within 4 hours of the inspection, and had both an oral and written recommendation by the afternoon. What I really liked was the following: 1. Not only were they nice to deal with, they gave me sage advice not to make an offer on the car until I had recieved the report to see if the offer should be lower and backed up by problems found during inspection. My intital thought was to make an offer contingent on the inspection. If it was accepted, then incur the cost of inspection which in retrospect would had me wedded to a purchase price. 2. While the inspection was incrediably detailed, I was shocked to see that the inspector actually found that the vanity light in the driver side visor was not working. Wow!!! The dealer was so embarrassed that they agreed to fix it for free. This repair alone would have cost more than the inspection fee. 3. The inspector took extra pictures of the underneath of the front end of the vehicle from all angles because he knew I was going to have a car carrier bring the car to Los Angeles and he wanted to makes sure that if the transportation company damaged the car with its hooks that we could prove the damage was not there prior.
