Had our Mercedes oil change done at Tim's German Auto and couldn't be happier. The service was substantially less expensive than the dealership, but honestly felt better than the dealer experience. The shop manages to be homey and high-tech at the same time, which is a rare combo. Before any work even started, they sent a pre-service walkaround with photos, which was a really nice touch and instantly built trust. Everyone there is professional, friendly, and clearly knows German cars inside and out. No pressure, no upselling -- just clear communication and solid work. Only small suggestion for improvement: it would be great if the tech and front desk coordinate before additional service recommendations are made. For example, brakes were suggested based on digital service records, but the actual brake pads are almost brand new and didn't need replacement. Not a big deal, just a minor process tweak. Here's what I discovered on my first try at Tim's getting a brake job: THE BAD: 1. VERY small staff so if anyone is sick, a simple repair will take a week or more. 2. They prioritize based on what customer is maddest. I'm nice, so I was out of luck. 3. Big attitude from the front desk guy. 4. They don't take checks and they will add 3-4% if you use a credit card. THE GOOD: 1. Their pricing is in line with any other shop. 2. Their quality of work seems good. 3. Tim, the owner, is a very nice guy. They were awesome. I had got a new battery for my Volkswagen Bettle and was told the place I bought it from they couldn't install it because they didn't work on Volkswagens or Audi's, they told me I had to take it to the Dealership or find a mechanic that works on my brand of car. I call the dealership and was told I had to buy the battery from them and for the battery and installation it would be about $500. I googled on yelp mechanics that work on Volkswagen. Tim's German auto let me bring the battery I bought and installed it for less than $100. I will be taking my car to Tim's German Auto for all my future car needs. They were fair, speedy and everyone I interacted with were so nice!!! read more

If there was the ability to give 10 stars I would again and again. I have used Tims three times now for my Audi A5. Not only do they have the sweetest ladies and the cutest "shop dog" working the front office their techs are amazing. My last visit I was reporting my car would make a noise when I would brake then turn. Turned out to be a can of tire shine under the seat. I was mortified and they were gracious! Took my car in for a wheel bearing replacement and they fixed the car without any issues. Funny thing is, I had a weird sound not wheel bearing related that I couldn't figure out what the issue was. Took it to a shop and they told me it was my shocks, proceeded with the replacements and the sound proceeded after about 2 days. Fast forward, after ignoring that sound my car started to growl around 30-40, so decided to take it in. Got my wheel bearing/wheel hub assembly replaced and it took care of both issues. So now I'm convinced it was the wheel bearing being worn all along and I wasted some money at the other shop. If you're looking to get things done right the first time. My daughter was traveling back from Oklahoma, when her low oil pressure light in her Volkswagen came on. We had just had her car serviced at a regular service center. Our Wolfsburg Jetta had a problem that so many other Jetts's seem to have. Tim helped us work through the issues by listening to my point of view from what I have read and I listened to him on what would be the best plan of action. What can you say? This place is the bee's knees for VW Audi. I'm surprised it only has a few reviews. Professional and very experienced techs walk the floors, with the owners canines. LOL They have a great a great reputation with all the dealers on the street. You can see Tim bicycling to get parts. I figured my older car was toast as I went to a shop a few blocks from where I live. The shop told me this and that and that it would be a crapload to fix. It was also out of their league they said. Tim (There are DOS) told me it was the master cylinder and I explained that the previous guy said that it was good and it a bad sensor festival needing to be fixed. Tim assured me that he had been doing this a long time and this is what he recommends. The next day he called me telling me to pick it up and the price was a quarter of what the first shop misdiagnosed. Oh and I'm going to need a discount, but I just remembered running into a Red VW GLI 04.5. It was hot. I drove it. It was a few years ago. The owner told me that he bought it because he liked it obviously, but that he also never wanted to visit another repair shop if it wasn't Tim's. That's the truth Ruth. I pick up my 96 GLX tomorrow. Great service. Got a light changed and a new grill for my VW Beetle and was in and out in less than an hour!

Very disappointed with their service or lack thereof! Took my daughters car in for routine service, it was the first time to be serviced somewhere other than a VW dealership. Somewhere between the two, the oil pan drain plug was destoried and this caused the oil pan to be worthless and needed to be replaced. At first, Tim's tried to say it stripped on the way out, when asked how a bolt could be stripped of it's threads by backing it out, they decided that it must have been cross threaded. When I ask if it was hard to remove, the mechanic started telling me how hard it was and how long it took him to get it out. I then ask, "why did you not stop and call me, so that I might take it to the VW dealership that last changed the oil and ask them about it?" All I got was, "yeah, I guess I should have done that". Then the shop foreman was brilliant enough to say, "we had a decision to make, and we made it". Really! Thanks to your decision, it cost my daughter an extra $200 bucks! Then he actually tried to get me to agree to give them another shot next time that the car needed service! HA! I must say, I was looking forward to doing business with this shop. NOT ANYMORE!!
