EDIT: 6/3/24: Spoke with Dave. I have no doubt that they can do a good job, as seen with these other positive reviews, but in the same manner that they are professionals in this field, I am surprised they did not find anything wrong with the master cylinder, which does have a direct influence on the clutch. Dave mentioned multiple times that his men did not find an issue with the cylinder at the time of inspection, so "technically" they did their jobs. I should point out, that Dave also said that they test driven it by 10 miles. 10 miles and no issues apparently, yet 2 miles of our struggle before the car gave out. I attached 2 new photos showing the odometer. Unless the paper printed on the day I picked up the keys aren't up to date (and if so, why was I given paperwork that's not up to date?) I am hesitant to believe the car was test driven. With the complimentary oil change + 10% discount on next repair offered, my boyfriend is very open to bringing his car back and if next time the car is properly serviced I am willing to update the reviews. ***** EDIT (Morning of 6/1/24): Tried calling your "24/7" assistance listed on your website. It's just your company's phone number sending us directly to voice mail. We need the car today. My boyfriend is missing out an annual event he wanted to go to deal with this matter. He can't even drive it to a different repair shop as he can't change gears anymore. Getting it towed, which is costing us unnecessary fees too!! Unbelievable!! ***** My boyfriend drives a manual car and was in need of a new clutch. He hesitates in bringing his car anywhere but Redline in Arlington. Since it's far, I suggested that he give other auto repair shops a chance, something he hasn't done before since he knows that finding a good mechanic is hard. Same here, but we wanted to have hope that his car can be fixed properly in Fort Worth. We thought wrong. Upon arriving, the men were very nice. Because their customer service skills were great, we assumed they were going to do a good job. My boyfriend even spoke fondly about Ichiban Autos even before repairs started. The men at the front were also responsive, informing us of the costs, labor, & parts that need replacement. Take a look at the photos for the amount of things replaced. Cost? Over $2k. And because Ichiban closes on the weekends, you'd think they'll make sure their Friday clients would be ensured that their cars would be drivable. Unfortunately, not us. As my boyfriend was flying back from a work trip, we couldn't get his car till 10 PM, long after Ichiban closed. At 10 PM, we retrieved the car, excited to drive it when... HIS CLUTCH IS LOOSE! Both of us tried it and it feels wrong. NO resistance on the clutch pedal, and he couldn't put the shifter into gear! How is this acceptable! He managed to drive the car off premises but as he got closer to my apartment, literally 2 miles away, he had stopped because he couldn't change gears anymore. That's right, 2 MILES by 11 PM, my boyfriend and his car remain stuck on the side of the road, parallel parked at some street and praying that he doesn't get towed. I did not pay over $2k just to retrieve a car that's not operating properly. Did anyone even test drive it? You guys had the car from Wednesday till Friday. Called me at 9:30 AM stating it's ready, and I didn't even come till 2 PM to pick it up, giving you guys plenty of time to test drive/check for any errors/tighten any loose ends. Since Ichiban is closed, our night, our weekend, is ruined. I really wished I could've given this place 5 stars, the men were nice but the service we received is unacceptable. Once they began work, Ray kept me updated about progress with daily phone calls. Ichiban Autos is still my go-to auto shop. I trust them to work on my car and give me honest quotes. I started coming here around 2014 and will continue to come here as long as I'm in the area. Even with my 15% discount at my dealership, Ichiban almost always has a better quote. There is a tcu discount for students and alumni, so be sure to take advantage of that. One complaint since my last review- lately they don't always answer the phone or call back when you leave a message. I'm a long time customer, so I will call until they answer, but a new customer won't have that kind of patience. That being said, when your car is in their hands, they will call you for updates and if any additional work needs to be done, they will give you quotes and ask if you want to go ahead with it. Overall, I recommend you call Ichiban for your auto needs. They are honest and do a good job. JB and Kenneth are solid people. read more

Got called and updated that it wouldn't be ready until tomorrow since they couldn't get my part tomorrow Get a call the next day about option that sounded like the repair was going to be crazy expensive. Ichiban gives you a good price and does OK mechanic work but their bodyshop is horrible and slow. In under two years their hood repair and repainting of my red Mazda6 has cracked horribly. I could tell when I got it back 2 years ago it was badly done. The hood had sand in the paint, and it was already bubbling up. When I confronted the owner, JB to fix the issue immediately after the repair, which took a month, he said there was nothing they could do and blamed it on the former repair shop. The owner, JB stopped answering my phone calls, so I will never be going back to Ichiban. All the owner, JB had to do was make it right, and he refused. read more

First time customer, and cannot think of ANY reason i would return to Toyota for servicing my vehicle! Ichiban put a full set of brakes on my 2012 Highlander for about $750, which is about $100 more than Toyota wanted per axle, or approximately $1400!!! JB advised to what was best for my vehicle, and the brakes are working like new...better than after any past brake job for sure! Also appreciate his being diligent about making sure all information regarding the service was in their system correctly that they would honor their 2 year warranty on the brakes. Professional guy, and frankly, if he told me I needed to do something else, I would do it... From my experience, and reading the reviews, this IS the shop for servicing your Japanese vehicle. Brought my car in this morning and was greeted by a guy up front with a beard, I told him exactly what was wrong with my car, a headlight that had condensation in it, and how to fix it. It's a common problem with gen2 Mazda 3s and I even offered a video on how to fix it, he told me that he couldn't and didn't know anybody who could. I took it to komal down the road at all service auto and he was receptive towards the video and offered to take care of it for less than $50. I wouldn't go to ichiban if it were the last mechanic shop in DFW because of their incompetence. I wish their was something lower than 1 Star read more

1 star is too many. Terrible customer service/diplomacy. Ray was not honest with me regarding parts ordered. He said he ordered the part, but really didn't. I sat around for 5 hours only to find out that he didn't get the part that day. Extremely frustrating because he said he didn't realize I was waiting. I paid for the part, which wasn't there, and now they won't reimburse me my money back. $147. I picked up the part because I was so frustrated with him and his sarcastic and demeaning attitude. I went to another auto repair place and they said the part I had was not going to fix the problem with my car. Big Ray now says he "won't reimburse me and he's not going to argue with me." Anytime I tried to speak, he talked right over me. I can't speak with anyone above him because Big Boss Ray said people above him "are gone ,and he doesn't know when he will be back and the owner is too "busy" because he owns so many other businesses and owner is on vacation." Called to get information about a repair and was not told about the $120 minimum diagnostic fee, nor is it on their website, dropped my car off and was not told about the minimum charge then. Later it was pointed out that they have a plastic sign in the lobby only. I understand the need for a diagnostic fee but that should have been communicated on the telephone and on the website. read more

***Long review*** We have been using Ichiban Autos for over 5 years and never had a problem until our past repair a week ago. We took our 2008 Audi Q7 to them because the check engine light was on and the mechanic determined that it was a valve cover which was under warranty because they replaced it a year ago. They kept the SUV for almost a week and at pick up I was told by the mechanic sorry for keeping your truck for so long I wanted to check things out and make sure everything was done right. The SUV was driven under 10 miles before the check engine light popped back on. Took it back to Ichiban Auto maybe three days after pickup, they told me it was something going on with the parts under the valve cover and having the valve cover fixed correctly this time by them (again) made the other parts mess up due to pressure or some bs like that and the best thing for me to do was to get another vehicle because the SUV is old and replacing the engine would be around $10,000. I have asked multiple times if the truck was having problems that they say are going on now, why hasn't it been giving me problems. Since then I have talked to two mechanics about the problem ( haven't moved the SUV from Ichiban) and their advice was to have the shop do the job over and if anything dealing with the valve cover (other parts of the system) was going to mess up it would have messed up when the valve cover wasn't performing correctly not when it has been fixed properly and maybe the valve cover wasn't replaced correctly. Talked this over with Ichiban, Ray's response was we don't want to hear it unless it comes from an Audi mechanic and he has been working with his mechanic for years and he knows his work. I told him everyone makes a mistake some times. So two different mechanics told me the same thing and they wrong. Also since they have repaired it, the the engine light came on again more codes have popped up, so if there were a problem with anything else wouldn't those codes popped up the first time around not the second time. Ichiban Auto is the only company that has done any repairs to the SUV. I have asked that the owner call me, I was told earlier on that the owner isn't probably going to do anything but was finally told on 9/6/2021 how to text and send an email to him. My car unfortunately had a lot of unexpected complications, so I feel they had gone extra miles to fix my car and accommodate to my schedule...yet all with still positive attitudes and for a very fair and reasonable price. Went to a name brand repair shop for a simple smoking of the system for a leak in the emissions and they were gonna charge me 400 dollars for a new canister. I went to ichichan for a second opinion and in only 2 hours they found the problem, which was apparent, and saved me over 300 dollars. Ichiban is my go to car mechanic. I moved to the metroplex about three years ago, with no family in the area. I also know nothing about cars. Whenever I would take my car into the Hyundai dealership I always got the feeling I was being taken advantage of. With Ichiban this is not the case. I have taken my car to them many times. When the engine self destructed on my 12 year old car, Ichiban told me they could put a refurbished engine that would only be guaranteed for 90 days or I could scrap the car. The tech recommended I scrap the car because its a huge expense to put an engine in a car and who knows what else will go wrong with a 12 year old car in even six months. This advice shows they are not trying to make a quick dollar and really value their customers which is incredibly important to me especially as a woman. The route that makes them less money is the one they recommended me to take. I can always trust Ichiban to give me advice based on what is best for me and not necessarily best for Ichiban. The front manager, JB is incredibly friendly and works extremely hard to let you know the status of your car in a timely manner. Their prices are competitive and definitely beat what I was getting at the Hyundai dealership. read more
