For well over a decade we have always used US Window & Door as our go-to for Milgard windows for our home renovations. Our salesperson, Patty, has always been quick with a quote and accurate. Unfortunately our last experience will be our last with them. First, after charging $300 delivery to bring the windows from Temecula to SD the Milgard drivers refused to deliver the windows to the place we had set aside to receive them near the point of installation. The windows are large and quite heavy. After realizing they were beyond our ability to move and install them we asked US Window if they could help us with the install. They refused citing a four month backlog in their service schedule and that the owner wouldn't approve it. We had to scramble to find an installer that would complete the job. The good news is we found Go Glass Pro who moved the windows to the point of installation and completed it in less than 3 hours with excellent attention to detail but no thanks to US Window and Door. read more

Absolutely the WORST service provider experience I have ever hired in my life. Upon arrival for install I was told I need to sign a change order for 2 hours @ $145/hr for removing window trims that would take 1 person 10 minutes max. Wrong size windows were ordered, sliders were wrong color and manufactured incorrectly, screens were wrong size overlapping into the windows, window trims did not match, replacement sliders were manufactured backwards on second attempt install 2 weeks later and I had to beg them to provide correct sliders they wanted me to wait 2 more weeks. Zero apologies from anyone at US Window. I actually asked Stacy Elliot why no one has apologized and still didn't get an apology! STAY AWAY FROM this company!!!! read more

Well, I don't know what's happened to the art of professionalism. US Windows needs a brush up. The sales guy was fine, the measuring was fine, communication leading up to setting an install date was good. Then I received a email stating my install had been scheduled. Only problem- I had a Dr's appt. It would have been a better approach if I would have been called to schedule a time that worked for both parties. On the install date 2 guys showed up rather than 3 (3rd guy showed up towards the end). It took 9 hours to replace 6 windows!!! 2 screens had defects and 3 windows were scratched. The lead installer was friendly and seemed capable. He said he would turn in the paperwork and I would get a call within a couple days from Milgard regarding the defects. The following day I noted that the bottom of one window wasn't caulked along with several other corner frames. Several plugs were also missing from inside frames ( at least 2 were due to window malfunction I later learned), one had been filled with caulk. No one mentioned this to me! Called/emailed management and installer returned 2 days later to caulk. Lead installer again mentioned that he had turned in my paperwork. I still have not received the plugs. They are promised tomorrow. Two weeks later, no call regarding defective windows. Called management, turns out although the lead installer had told me that he had turned in the paperwork, he had not. So here I am two weeks after install waiting for a call from Milgard regarding the defective windows. I wonder how long I would have been waiting had I not called. I have spoken to both Stacy Elliott, Operations Manager and Tim Maldonado, Installation Manager. I have needed to call and email more than a reasonable amount to get resolution. They have been unapologetic and seem bothered by my requests for information/follow-up. Additionally, the caulking done for several windows look like it was done by a child playing with Play-Doh very sloppy. And one window frame drywall was pretty beat up. This is the second house we have used US Window & Door. Their quote was less than the others we obtained. Would have used them more than likely even if they were the highest. They did a great job on our Oceanside home and again, this week on our Bonsall home. From top to bottom, we are very happy. The best part is the finish work. Top notch. The installers took their time and did not rush. It shows. We used US Window & Door at the Oceanside home as they were recommended by a co-worker who had moved to San Diego as well. The person who came out to measure the Bonsall job brought to my attention that while measuring 4 of the 8 windows we initially were going to replace, noticed the glass was just replaced in 2022!! I had no idea where to look to see the age of the glass. He did NOT have to share that with us. We assumed they were as old as the failing windows we DID replace. He saved us a ton of money. Pros: Ideas for window install in a specific area, quote and contract delivered promptly. Milgard windows. Cons: Staff are clearly (and visibly) overwhelmed but can not turn down business. Multiple iterations of contract because USW&D staff kept making mistakes. Provided signed contract and deposit. Advised 6 weeks to install. Called after a month to check the status. Advised sorry, you fell through cracks, windows were never ordered. Then tried to blame the customer for multiple contract revisions. Oh, no, you didn't really just say that? Especially since USW&D has been sitting on a deposit for a month. Now installation is another two months out. All because of mistakes THEY made in-house. Not cool, no efforts made to escalate install dates, compensate for lost time due to their mistakes, or otherwise make it right with a paying customer. Advice to owner/leadership: Consider providing a discount to compensate for your mistakes. Ensure a white-glove install when the windows finally do arrive. Do not blame the customer, period. Start postponing business if you can't keep up with demand in the current (crazy) market; your staff are overwhelmed. 6/17/21-Another update: another email stating there was another delay. This is the second time around I went with US Window and Door. The first time around the time estimate was only a few weeks late (which I understand being in the construction industry). The installers were timely, clean, respectful, and the quality was very good. The second time I needed to fully replace all windows for a rental property of mine. I was given an estimation of installation in October that my installation would be late December/January at the latest. I didn't get my installation scheduled until February 27th, which was on a Monday. Since it rained the week before, I was anticipating a call/email that Friday asking to reschedule but I didn't - so I proceeded to continue with the re-homing arrangement I made with my tenant and to clear his unit/take down blinds/etc. the day before. Come installation day (not raining) - I received a text 10 minutes before expected arrival time that it was cancelled. I called immediately to express my frustration and to reschedule. The scheduling manager (Tim) returned my call and was SHOCKINGLY abrasive, rude, and unprofessional. I am impressed the man has a job, that is no way to speak to a client - especially when USWD was in the wrong. It should have been obvious from a scheduling stand point that the company should've known well before Monday that my appointment was going to be cancelled. My appointment was rescheduled 4 days later. A company with a professional operations team would have let all the clients know ahead of time, not 10 minutes before expecting the installers to arrive. The installers were nice, they did a fine job, Milgard product is good as well. But that experience ruined USWD for me, I will not be using them again. read more

Terrible customer service. They went as far as coming out to give me a quote on a double door replacement on our house. I was ready to get started as soon as I had an acceptable quote. The guy measures everything, makes notes and says he'll email a quote the next day. Never heard from him again. I contacted the company about it and didn't hear from them either. I had no issues with the salesperson, I did not indicate a maximum I was willing to pay (there is one but we didn't discuss it) so it could not have had anything to do with a problem or a budget. They obviously have too much business and couldn't even be bothered to get back to people they don't have time for. Maybe if more people knew how little they value customers, they'd have less business. read more

I chose them out of 3 other estimates. They were the only ones that didn't try to talk me out of removing the whole patio door including the old track. All the other companies wanted to use the old rusty and dented track. I knew what I wanted and was willing to pay to get it. I appreciate that US Window and Door just said yes, they could replace the whole thing. Their estimate wasn't that much more than the others. I purchased a window from US window and door back in March of 2023 where they promised an install day of late May. I was contacted in late May that the install date would be late June. I was contacted in late June that it would be early July. Then in early July it moved to late July... Now it is late July and they have cancelled again. This company is by far the worst business I have ever come in contact with. I originally had a appointment with Petri for a new door on 20JUL. The appointment took 30min but Petri was unprepared it appeared. It is now Aug 4th and I still have no quote. Petri first had an excuse of she forgot, then her computer crashed, then she got in a car accident and the latest was her software isn't working with her computer. I called their office and talked with Laurie who sounded like she was nice. Was told the operations manager is on it and I would have my quote yesterday...well still no quote, I've left voicemails and have now had no answer from anyone in the company!!!! I WOULD NEVER HIRE THIS UPDATE** After meeting with the owner and discussing new door options I did receive better service. He was a nice guy and apologized for their employees mishandling of the sale. The employee was dealt with at his level. We had a salesman come to our house to measure our windows in September and never heard back from them. I called once and they said they would be in touch. We also used them for a previous job for sliding door replacement. The door leaked terribly soaking our carpet and of course they blamed it on the roof which is nearly new. They said that they would send someone out "in a month or 2". This is not a way to run a business. read more

I am quite disappointed with this company and glad we ended up not hiring them. They were a referred to us by a contractor so we didn't do our due diligence thinking we just need a quote. We received a quote for our front entrance door but was told they could not help us on the 2nd door due to it's size and that it required a glass insert. We decided to move forward with the front entrance but never got the confirmation. After some back and forth, we must not have been important enough for this company to give us the courtesy of a follow up. When I needed three sliding glass doors, a garden window replaced with a regular type window, and 6 other windows, I called several companies for bids. US Window and Door was recommended to us by a neighbor who had them do their window replacement. US Window and Door gave us a bid only slightly lower than the other companies but the bid was so much more thorough in showing exactly what was to be done and the cost of each item. They also made several suggestions to improve the window replacement. They measured twice before ordering the windows. The installation was swift and the crew friendly with excellent cleanup. Inspection of the completed work was done by the owner of the company after installation to make sure it was done correctly and we were happy with the results. I hired this company to install a sliding glass door and a new garden window. The Milgard windows are good and have an excellent reputation. However, they can be purchased from several vendors. I would stay away from this company. Although I believe they have some good installers, the team that came to my home wreaked havoc with my property. They trashed the guest bathroom, using it every twenty minutes. I had to purchase new bathroom rugs and the toilet area was filthy. Some men were in there for long periods running the fan. The lead man was rude and destroyed my plants surrounding the garden window. He did not speak English well and was difficult to communicate with. He did a poor job on the caulking and had to return to fix it. It came out worse, so they had to send someone else who actually spoke English and had some manners. The sliding glass door was not installed properly and does not always close easily. They came back and now if works 99% of the time. My other sliding glass doors do not have this problem. read more

We recently purchased our first home, a 1925 Craftsman that desperately needed new windows. The office was a pleasure to work with and when Martin, the owner, came out to measure our windows, he kindly entertained our very curious 4 year old. The windows were well worth the wait, because Francisco and Simon did a wonderful job. They installed 20 windows in two days, were conscientious of our newly installed floors by wearing booties and putting pads down and even covered some areas with plastic that we forgot about. The installers were also very sweet when my 4 year old was constantly asking them questions and on the last day, Simon even gave my son an amethyst after seeing his crystal collection. US Window & Door, we thought, was going to be a great experience. DARN IT WE HIRED THE WRONG COMPANY! Don't do what we did by hiring US Door & Window ... call another company to get a second estimate of installation experience expectations. Our poor customer experience described below. Positive note about our experience with US Door & Windows was Martin's detailed descriptions of the window, the features of the windows, and the performance was spot on ... Our Milgard Windows are amazing! Just wish we hired another company to install our Milgard Windows. ........................... Our experience with US Door & Window started off really good, well good during the estimate phase of the experience. We had a general idea what our windows might cost, so when Martin shared the cost and when he gave his commitment to meet our requested schedule ... we said yes and gave our deposit! From the deposit forward is when our fighting/battling began (so will yours) and the convenient memory loss of US Doors & Windows. We (my wife an I worked as a team) ended resorting to lengthy argumentative conversations to achieve our needed installation dates which Martin ABSOLUTELY committed to make happen (little insight when you have issues too, skip dealing with Martin and ask for Tim). What we had happening was 2 contractors trying to get their stuff done (bathroom remodel and kitchen remodel were on a stand-still till windows in). Martin shared our windows were not going to arrive in time. Bummer deal was it turns out Martin's excuse of Windows are not arriving in time was changed to their schedule of installations was swamped and Martin said he would have never said he could complete the installation during those dates. Such a bummer for us and the 2 contractors counting on Martin's commitment. Well here is where Tim comes in as he discovered our windows will be here on time (which somehow were not going to arrive in time had the miracle arrival of they made it on time? Hmm?). There is more. Then there was the bathroom window which did not fit, which we are to blame per Martin. We called to have it remeasured since we had to replace the wall due to water damage. The office team said as long as the metal frame is in we are good no need for Martin to come back out. Well it did not fit because our reframe changed Dimensions about 3/4" (Ok Martin we are to blame so we were told to buy another window and Martin said sell the unusable window on Craig's List). We agreed ... the Windows was our fault, however kept thinking why wouldn't they want to come back out to double check the measurement since we were worried? We blamed ourselves for that one. Now comes the awful stucco workmanship which is the biggest bummer. We reviewed with Martin our garden window, the cost of a replacement garden dual pane window or remove it to convert to an in-line window. Martin shared pros & cons and shared Removal process assuring us their stucco skills are the best. We trusted Martin. Well turns out their stucco work, which they admit is not good, is now described as it was never described as it's suppose to look good at all. What blows us away is they refuse to even come out and make it right. Now we have to get is done ourselves, Document via pictures, pay another stucco contractor, then take US Door & Window to small claims court to get us reimbursed for the cost of repairing their workmanship. Why would not just make it right? They never even came out to look at how awful the stucco looks? Our final phase was painting the exterior of our house, where the painter asked, "do you want us too repair the defects around the kitchen window?" We thought what??? Well we said it is fine ... till we saw it painted ... AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL we get to experience US Door & Windows awesome stucco workmanship and their refusal to fix it. In a few weeks we will post the beautiful repair work for all to see. read more

I had four Milgard windows and a sliding glass door installed in my condo in North Park, and Armando and his team of installers did beautiful work and treated our home and the walls surrounding the window frames with the utmost care. The windows themselves are a huge upgrade from the single-panes that came with the condo (built in the '90s), with much better temperature control and a complete elimination of outside noise. The price was very reasonable and they completed the job faster than quoted. 10/10 would work with US Window & Door again. read more

The owner responded to my poor review of their business apologizing for any delay in the quote and said they would get me a quote promptly. Unsurprisingly I never received a quote. Businesses start at the top and when the owner can't deliver, the business can't deliver. As seen in other reviews, they are not able to properly provide quote service. We had an older patio door replaced and changed from in-swing to out-swing. We selected a Milgard door with full length glass and inner grid. The entire process with US Window and Door was excellent, from measurement to installation to stucco patch. The crews arrived on time and were most courteous and efficient. The installer pointed out a small defect in the new glass (which we probably would never have noticed), and scheduled a glass replacement right away, also accomplished right on time. The installation involved stucco repair, which was also done perfectly. We're very happy with the new door, which is much more attractive and functional. So here in Serra Mesa we have these really odd shaped windows that are difficult to do anything with. We had cracks in several of them, and we wanted to get double paned for better insulation. I love the new windows we had installed by US Window & Door co. The beige trim matches our stucco, and they look really good. To be honest I had no idea how they would turn out but I am really glad we chose these. The installation took less than a full day, the guys were really neat and cleaned up everything when they were done. Very professional. If one could love a window, I love these. I Replaced every window in the house, 15 windows and 1 sliding glass door with Milgard. The originals were 25 year old aluminum clad, builder grade windows. Hard to open, leaked air and gave zero noise protection. US Window & Door worked extremely with the covid-19 restrictions and finished the entire house (2 story) in two days because inclement weather was to start on day three. THEY DID IT! I was initially skeptical, but they made it happen. Upon final inspection by the lead installer, he pointed out two rather minor defects and told me that they would be replaced with new units. That too was done in a timely manor. I now have extremely easy to open, insulated (Spray foam insulation), and QUIET windows. I would estimate approx. a 90% reduction in noise. In fact, they were the only company we solicited that was willing to replace our atrium windows with vinyl. This was no easy task as it required a remanufacturing of the frame on site.
