THIS PLACE HAS CHANGED! My absolute hands down favorite Thai spot for over 8 years is no longer. I'm devastated and that is putting it lightly. Us thai has been reliable, consistent and truly out of this world special. We've ordered almost every Friday since covid hit. My issues: I'm not sure if it's new ownership or what but all the front of house and cook staff are different. When my husband inquired about the change of staff he was told he must be mistaking. Transparency and honesty would go a long way in keeping our business! Food wasn't spicy. If you know this spot you know their spice wasn't messing around. Each dish we ordered was a different level and nothing had that true US Thai kick. The care that was always put in coupled w the depth of flavor...all gone. It's not terrible food- but certainly not what it was. Dish ingredients have changed. Our garlic delight had zero vegetables and it's usually packed full which is why we love it. The garlic sauce was hardly garlicky. We didn't get the pineapple fried rice we ordered which is just all time favorite (maybe I'm glad I didn't have to try the new version!?). Understanding cost should have gone up due to our current economic conditions, but increase by 40% and reduce serving size by almost half? I share the sentiment of other Yelp reviewers of late. This restaurant did not impress me at all. There was a line outside of the restaurant so I got very excited. Went with my friend after we played tennis so I was super hungry. I ordered the Pla Rad Prik mild plus. I really love spicy food and was persuaded by my friend and and the server that the medium was going to be too spicy for my first time. The food was served and it was mostly veggies. I didn't even notice the fish. Two fried cutlets that were tasty but not spicy. The fish I expected for this dish is usually a whole fish. Two cutlets that were not spicy, it was mostly sweet. I asked one of the waitresses for some chili pepper and that added extra flavor but it still needed the extra kick. The hubs and I had tried coming here a while back but the wait for carry out was over 45 minutes so we paused that idea. Flash forward to the present and we found a table mid day on a Saturday. Hooray! We started with the spring rolls which were filled with chicken, mint, cucumber and bean sprouts. I don't know how to describe the rice paper other than it was the best we've had and seemed to have been made from scratch. Not sure about that but wow. The peanut sauce was almost as thick as creamy peanut butter and was also totally unique and delish. For my main I went with my beloved veggies in green curry that I seem to order at every Thai restaurant. This was by far the best one I've had in the Denver area. The hubs got the chicken pad Thai which was one of the best he has also had. It had more sauce than we've seen but it was packed with flavor. I've been eating at US Thai for years and though I no longer work in the neighborhood I still make a trip over because the food is spot on. It's Thailand authentic! I recently tried something else on the menu besides my go-to "US Thai Special" stir fry. It was the Veggie Pineapple Curry. Oh my word was this delicious and filling. You can add a meat or tofu but I prefer just extra veggies. The coconut milk base is creamy and you can select your level of spice. The curry flavor is tame so don't let "Curry" detour you from trying this hearty meal especially refreshing for a cold day. Always friendly - consistent - tastes amazing - great price/value. Just go try it - I've yet to find something I didn't like...it's all good and lunch time gets packed so you can call ahead and pick up if you have a short lunch break. read more

Beware of the spice level! This was my first time having Thai food in Denver, Colorado and I learned my lesson. I'm from SJ and usually handle my spice and always order medium or hot and ofc it's never as hot as it's described. US Thai Cafe in Denver is definitely hot and you get what you pay for. We ordered 3 entrees: Pad Soy (medium), Basil Fried Rice (medium), and Green Curry (hot). Ofc when we ordered "hot" spice level, the waitress asked if it's our first time here and warned us it's spicy, but ofc we didn't listen and said hot is OK. The Pay Soy & Basil Fried Rice arrived first and it looked yummy and when I had my first bite, I definitely tasted the kick of spice for just medium spice but continued eating. There were a lot of red chili flakes. I was enjoying my two entrees and was warming up from the spice since we just came in from the freezing snowy weather. When the green curry arrived, I was like omg this is not green curry, it wasn't even GREEN. The red chili flakes turned the green curry into red. I took a very small spoonful of the green curry and I was on fire. Remember, this green curry was hot spice and on the menu it is listed "HOT - NOT RECOMMENDED FOR FIRST TIME VISITOR." You should definitely order hot spice at your own discretion. The food is definitely good, but if you want to actually enjoy your food and not be on fire then I recommend ordering mild spice. I heard mild spice is spicy enough, but there's also mild+. If I visit Denver again I would definitely return and order mild spice level for the dishes. #lessonlearned read more

Ordered a dish of pork and basil. After receiving an order of chicken and basil, I brought the unopened package back to the restaurant, at which point I was mocked and was referred to as "idiot American". It's a common misunderstanding I get it, but I do know the different between the two. We got one pork dish and one chicken dish, and the protein was identical, so there was a miscue somewhere, and telling the customer they are an idiot, unknowing that they understand the language is a pretty frustrating feeling. Ok as Thai restaurants go. Food is fresh and tasty, but menu portions are smaller than expected. Plenty of ginger in the stir fry vegetable menu item that I chose, but the ginger root was a particularly bitter specimen. Service is very good. Waitress was particularly helpful to alert us which dishes were prepared with a fish broth base, and which dishes were truly vegan. Ambience is family style. Location was difficult to get to because of street being blocked for some sort of festival. Parking is "street parking", meaning we parked 2 blocks around the corner in front of someone's house. read more

I remember this place being so much better... typical Wednesday night dining that left us with a bitter taste and here's why... first of all the service. The gal that took care of us had this "no-expression" look on her face, almost one of those "I-hate-my-job" attitude. The appetizer- not impressed at all! We picked the sampler so it had wontons, spring rolls, some chicken skewers and dumplings. I mean the wontons looked like a middle school cooking class experiment; small, cold, no flavor. The spring rolls were ok and the dumplings but the chicken skewers definitely had a taste of old chicken that has been sitting there waiting to be served. Moving on to the entree for which we waited about 30 min or so from the time we got the appetizer. We ordered the Pad See Ew and we requested one order of the mild + and one of hot. Yes we got the disclaimer that it would be very hot and if we are sure we are ok with it. Food finally comes out and the hot one is covered, I mean covered in red chili flakes. Ok so far so good, not moving onto the taste. Ok I know hot food can be hot but hot food can also be hot and flavorful and this was was hot and bland. If anything there was a burnt taste probably from the oil but it was not edible at all. We did the best we could to eat through the meat and some of the veggies and noodles. The mild + version was not any better; also had a burnt taste to it and it was lacking the flavors that I remember of this particular dish. After it was all set and done we spend a whopping $40 on this dinner (not including the tip). NOT WORTH IT! read more

This was the third time that I have picked up US Thai. I've heard it is some of the best Thai Food in Denver, and I really don't understand. Granted, I haven't dined in so maybe that is the game-changer? I've tried and it doesn't add up. All three times, they have asked me if I have had their medium. I have said yes. It's almost as if they don't believe me, as, they say it is spicy, but it's not. I've ordered, dumplings, Basil Fried Rice, spring rolls when they had them, Pad Thai and Toomyam with beef and with chicken. All pretty lackluster until tonight... which was just TERRRIBLE.. The Toomyam tonight had an entire half of an uncut, uncooked onion in it as well as an entire ginger-clove, uncooked. Upon removing the onion, I took a spoon-full, bit-in, and bit in entirely into the the uncooked ginger-clove. It has honestly been the worst experience, and actually straight up terrible, of any restaurant I've ever tried. Joke is for sure on me that I went back three times to have the same mediocre to straight terrible meal, but I was trying to give this place a chance. Don't let US Thai Cafe fool you. read more

It's a low key good location in edge water. The staff is friendly and the central kitchen is entertaining. I ordered the Drunken noodles, hot. The waitress said their "hot" is hotter than most and warned me that they will not remake it for me if it is too spicy. I usually order hot at Thai places so i went with that. The dish they brought out was so covered in peppers it looked like a joke. See photo. Surprisingly it was not inedible but the meat was tough and dry and the overwhelming flavor was burnt peppers. Per the group's recommendation, last night we decided to try US Thai Cafe. It was great! Very authentic! I'm glad we got there before 6 p.m., due to the long wait that quickly built after that time. We went with a quasi-vegetarian friend, so I compromised on what I would usually order. Instead of starting out with a tom kha soup, we ordered the tom yum/yam soup (lemongrass based). It was excellent! Although I gravitate towards more creamy coconut flavored items in Thai food, I am glad I went outside of my comfort zone and tried something new.  We also ordered chicken satay as an appetizer. It contained plenty of chicken breast on skewers, but was a little stingy on the peanut sauce which tasted amazing! I'm sure I could have asked for more sauce. Our friend Rebecca and I split an order of vegetable Pad Thai. Normally I would get a combo of meat and seafood, but I have to admit that the vegetable option was really good and had plenty of well-seasoned healthier alternatives. The noodles were great, and the overall flavor was some of the best Pad Thai I have ever tasted. Bob was underwhelmed by the US Thai Special Stir Fry he ordered with chicken.  I tried some, and agreed that it wasn't that exciting. However, he chose this entree trying to avoid fish paste that is found in most Thai cuisine. I want to go back! Stopped by here for to-go on our last day in Colorado. It was a hole in the wall and only did to go during this time. I ordered the beef drunken noodles with hot spice level(I usually order Thai spicy since I have a high tolerance for spice but other reviewers noted that they're spicy is next level) and my bf ordered tofu pad Thai mild. The noodles came out piping hot and def hit the spot. Both of our dishes were flavorful and we couldn't help but eat it right away in the car. I'm always on the hunt for new Thai food, so I was so happy when someone invited me here. I absolutely loved the area it was in. I'm not on that side of town, but the whole block was poppin'. The restaurant is cute and very intimate. I had drunken noodles that were SO good and SO hot. I can normally handle hot food, I prefer it, this a bit for me though. Medium/Hot Spicy Drunken Noodles with Shrimp and Medium Spicy Seafood Pad Thai. It was awesome. It's safe to say that I've gotten over my aversion to Thai food. However, my husband's noodles were a bit too spicy for him. Had to get a cheeseburger at Sonic (pictured for comedic purposes). The menu literally says first timers should start with the "Mild+". I been here twice. That's what you get for thinking you're bad. Also they don't use fresh chilies. They use flakes so keep that in mind. This place is completely no frills. The room echos with everyone's voices. It took about 15 minutes to get our food, and I noticed we weren't the only couple in there. In fact, almost every table seemed to be having a date night. Ordered drunken noodles with chicken (mild since I know how Thai spiciness level goes up exponentially). This dish came out amazing. It had flavor and heat all gift wrapped in each bite. The plate didn't look like much but when I was done my belly was definitely smiling. Now I bet you're wondering why I gave my experience two stars? The simple answer is service which was utter garbage. Our waitress did not smile or even make eye contact. I understand many cultural mannerisms but this is far from what I have experienced in any Thai restaurant or even my Thai friends. This girl was quick yet grouchy faced the whole time. Everyone else who was served by the guy had a smile on their faces and probably gave bigger tips too. I'm guessing this is a family owned restaurant. Still, if our waitress didn't want to be there she could go get a job somewhere else. I'll start by saying that the food here is great. We've gotten both egg rolls and pad thai here and have not been disappointed with the food itself. The pad thai was flavorful and had a great spice to it. I'd agree with others here that the portions were a good size. Unfortunately, after a bit of internal debate, I decided to give 3 stars based on our last experience here. As others have noted in their reviews, the wait time for take out is pretty significant -- up to and sometimes over an hour. We called an order in ahead of time a few Fridays ago -- two veggie pad thais and an order of veggie egg rolls and were told this would take take about 70 minutes. When we got there, we checked in and our order was brought to us. Unfortunately, there was a mistake on their end: they only had one pad thai for us. Instead of apologizing (they never did), the hostess said, "Okay, well we only made one... so, do you still want that?" How awkward! We went back and forth a bit and the options we were given were basically pay for the one pad thai OR order a second one, which would be added to the BACK OF THE LINE and wait for that. We asked them to remake both, so that we could actually have hot food and eat together. I was pretty shocked and disappointed that this went to the back of the line. We waited another 50 minutes for our to-go order -- more than two hours total -- and not only didn't get an apology, but didn't get any sort of discount or anything comped either. I'm not one to make demands and so didn't ask for anything like that, but it was surprisingly poor customer service. We like the food, but this experience left a bad taste in our mouths. read more

I've been looking forward to trying this place out for a long time now because of their glowing reviews. I got it for take out tonight since their dine in area is still closed. They only do phone orders I believe and it was about a 20 min wait on a Friday night. The staff was really nice when I came to pick up. I ordered the beef pad see ew with spice level mild+ and although it was piping hot and the wide rice noodles were fresh and had great texture, my entire dish was so sour. I'm not sure if they added lime juice to it or if the Chinese broccoli had gone bad but it was not good. You could barely taste the soy sauce flavor that makes for a good pad see ewe. My dish also only came with 3 pieces of beef. They were large pieces that could probably be cut in half but they were large and tough to eat because it was over cooked. The spice level was on point though. I probably could've gotten medium spice. My family got pad thais and unfortunately, they did not like their noodles either. Maybe it was an off night... but it was a disappointing meal. I still give it 3 stars cause it's very affordable ($9.75) read more

The food is good, the spices insanely evil. I took up on the "Mild Plus" aka level 2. Perfect for beginners or noobs to US Thai. My friends ordered "Hot Level 5" which is, and I quote, "burn your face off" crazy. Definitely not for the timid! Very authentic cuisine at this hole in the wall. Less one star only because the service has room for improvement. How is it I have to ask and remind the waitress for beverage refills? Under new management and nothing like the beloved US Thai we used to wait hours in line for (in the cold and rain)! The portions are smaller and the Thai flavor is gone. You can go literally anywhere in town and get better food. On the upside, since word has gotten around, one can always immediately get a seat and take out orders take just 15 minutes. read more

The food here is so delicious. We've been a couple times now, and the "Pad Thai with Shrimp, Mild" is my go-to. Mild Plus / Mild + is very tasty, but if you're like me and kind of a wimp with spicy food, I'd say try this Mild Plus before venturing to anything hotter than that. It's pretty warm! Their fried egg rolls are AMAZING, and the chicken and vegetable spring rolls are scrumptious. My only critique about the food is, today we visited and ordered the spring rolls again, and while they were really tasty and the peanut sauce is a little thick, my roll had a long, dark hair in it... Not a HUGE deal except that the restaurant simply apologized and removed my plate with the hair; didn't comp the appetizer from the bill for the inconvenience of someone's hair in my food. They also hung a sign saying they were away for lunch and would return at 4:30pm. Again, not a huge deal. We were waiting out in the cold, and several people attempted to open the door only to find we were all locked out (hence us standing around). Some folks called to see if they were open, and the restaurant said yes but didn't open back up at 4:30. We waited until 4:40 or so-- when they finally unlocked the door and allowed everyone in. Again, the food is delicious when you don't find a hair in it! Definitely some of the best Thai food I've had in my life. Next time I'll be sure to take pictures. read more
