I walked up saying I called earlier about a smog check and he rudely says that my car should be in this area (even though theres no structure that would help customers know that) so I said "okay I didn't know that I'll move it right now" I walk away and he calls me to come back saying "excuse me! Excuse me! ExCUSE me!! Excuse my face I'm not angry I'm just such a hard worker" and says it so sarcastically. There are other STAR certified smog check center so unless you live near the area don't come. Most workers didn't wear mask, and the price of your smog check depends on if your car is a luxury made instead of basing on size. We waited about an hour there while the actual test was around 30 min. The technician who performs the test seems to come in at 11:30 on Mondays so plan accordingly. read more

I came in for a smog check. The crabby old timers who work here had a terrible attitude to me. They told me to wait about 45 minutes, I stood around and waited, and watched them scurrying around randomly puttering around, while the line of customer cars built up. No sense of efficicency or process here. One of the old smog guys glared at me watching them, and asked me what I was doing and to go wait somewhere else, said "go sit over there..." I went over there and waited for a while, then went back to watching them scurry around. The old smog guy, glared at me some more with a foul expression. Furthermore he told me smog check was going to be $61, however there was sign outside that said $29.99, he decided was going to give me a discount today. In the end he gave me a passing grade on my smog check. When I picked up my car, it looked like somebody had rummaged through my ashtray looking for spare change. read more

Not recommended... So one day I went for a smog check early in the morning (firs one showing up). They were supposedly to open at 7:30am but no one was there until like 7:45am to open the gates. The guy (Howard?) got disgruntled when I greeted and wanted to confirm with him "are you open at 8?". Perhaps he misunderstood my question and started to mumble around when he and I started to talk... quite rude. He did apologize later on, but why you did it to your customer in the first place (especially you were late)? In addition, when he wrote up the paper work, you would have to "present" him the $29.75 coupon, although it's on the front page of their website. Otherwise he'd charge you for $20 more. So plus $8.25 Smog Certificate fee, plus some other miscellaneous fee (record transmission?), total is $41 out of the door. Price is fair (for a 4-door sedan; not sure if other cars/SUVs the same price). Another disregard from this guy is that, although I was the first one in line, for no apparent reason, he actually did the smog test ahead of mine for another driver who arrived after me. Overall, it took me about 75 minutes including waiting time to get the business done - vs supposedly 15 or max 30 minutes job. Waste of time.... and not a pleasant experience. read more

I found their coupon easily online and I didn't need an appointment. It took less then 15 minutes and my car passed. Howard is a really nice man and his staff is experienced and good at their jobs. Do not go here if 1) You expect to pay the price listed on the coupon 2) Expect to be out in less than an hour 3) Expect to have their internet service able to upload the data for an electronic certificate. I was the first customer at this Smog Check center. 12/6/19. I received the bait and switch on the promoted signage and coupon, which nearly doubled the price (from 29.95 plus $8) to $56, a price that I could have received at any number of other Auto Smog Check locations. Not happy at all since SUV were not included on this particular coupon. However I was already there so I surrendered, expecting the testing, at last, to be fast. One hour later my car was still running and the test ongoing because they had internet problems. When I asked for some sort of cost offset, they laughed. ZERO stars!!! Worst customer service of my life! Made an appointment over the phone and when I showed up they said they were completely booked and could not see me. Annoying yes but compared to what's next it's nothing... One week later I tried again. This time making an appointment right when they open for 9am! Was the first person there at 9 am. At 10:30 my car finally got looked at! Literally only one other car was there aside from mine. Ridiculous and unacceptable especially since a smog check on average is 20-30 mins. Maybe get off your phone a do your job or at least communicate with us in the waiting room on what's going on. Oh and the coupon on yelp is not accepted! Like many others mentioned they run a full bait and switch with their "coupon". I sent my son here to get a smog test on our 14 year old car. They claimed it was a "luxury" car and charged him $51 dollars out the door. 156K miles and a blue book value of about $3,500 and it's a "luxury car". They even told him that it had to be in cash as it was the law. When he told them he only had credit they reluctantly, after giving him a lot of grief, took the credit card. What type of adults hassle a 16 year old. These guys are as shady as can be. AVOID this place and use any other place for your smog check. read more

Horrible. I was quoted a 30 minutes wait and after 30 minutes I went to check on my car's status and it still hadn't been looked at. The man was very dismissive of me when I asked how much longer it would take to get my smog check done. I would not come back here. Went in for a smog check and to get a headlight repaired. They tried giving me a higher price than what I was quoted on the phone but after I talked to the manager they gave me the correct price. They were also fairly rude throughout our interaction. On the positive side, my headlight was only slightly unscrewed and didn't need to be replaced, so they fixed that and didn't charge me for it. read more

If you don't mind waiting 85 minutes on a Saturday morning, this is your place for a smog check or oil change. Outdoor seating is available at the adjacent car wash but this little shop lacks the manpower and urgency for anyone who doesn't have an extra hour to throw away on something as routine as a smog check. Howard did issue an apology after the fact for the wait but moves as fast as a tortoise. American Express or Discover not accepted. read more

I came in to do just a smog check and Howard told me I have coolant leaking. He told me I needed to get a whole new radiator. I went to Star Auto instead where Sam helped me and diagnosed that I definitely did not need to get my radiator fixed. I had just got a new one recently. Star auto diagnosed the real problem and fixed it for me in no time. Theyre right next door and I recommend them instead. Howard was going to charge me more than double to replace the wrong part of my car. Star auto fixed the real issue for less than half the price. If you need anything besides a smog check, do not go to US smog check. read more

Very poor customer service. Came here for an oil change and when I asked one guy if my car was done, he didn't even look at me but just pointed to another worker. The other worker was like a robot. Attempted to ask him a few questions about the condition of the car, fluids and tires, and he kept rattling off a rehearsed standard line about the services they include with an oil change without bothering to even listen to my question properly or provide a coherent answer. Also, they have a big sign in from that an oil change is $29.95, but they charged me $38 (apparently their advertised price does not include disposal of oil, taxes or the cost of a filter -- misleading advertising). I came here for a Smog Test because it's right down the street. The test came back system "Not Ready" because of a recent recall and my car hasn't been driven enough for the computer system to reset. Howard ran the Smog Test anyway knowing my car is "Not Ready" and charged me full price including certificate (that was never sent because the smog check didn't pass). I confronted him why he ran the test knowing that the test would fail. Howard said it is only courtesy, not required. He went ahead and lectured me about it's not a fair world and all the 2000+ Smog Check station would do the same...What???? I brought my car back to the dealership where the recall was done. The representative told me they would never run the test if the system is not ready, they took care of my smog check and treated me with courtesy. I will stay away from this place forever. read more

I was really leary about taking my Mustang here for a Smog Check, based on all of the reviews, but when I called Howard to ask for a price and how long it would take, he was nice enough on the phone and I liked the price and the 20 minute test time (He wasn't rude like the other reviewers said). I mean, I get what they're saying, these guys definitely lack some personality, but they work on cars all day. They aren't going to have awesome social skills. What do you want? LOL! I arrived at Smog Test between 12:00pm - 1:00pm, just like I told Howard I would. As it happens 5 cars pulled up all at the same time, but Howard remembered me when I told him I had called that morning and put me next in line. I ended up being there about 30 minutes total. My car passed and I was out the door and on the road. One side note...a lot of the reviews had said they demand cash as a payment, but when I offered to pay cash up front, Howard said he preferred a Debit card. I think the reason he doesn't like to accept credit cards is the credit card companies take a percentage (I think it's like 3-7%) for every transaction. So I totally get that a business would prefer Cash and Debit. And I had no problem paying that way. Overall, I had a good experience and would definitely recommend the place to other people. read more

It's not the worst but it's definitely not the best. I called and asked about the coupon I had found online. He said that a smog check would cost $51 (this is with a $10 coupon) and includes the $8.75 certificate fee and the $3 electronic transfer fee. It's right by Alfie's car wash and was pretty close to work so I thought I'd give it a go. Howard, not the friendliest of sorts. The test took about 20-30 mins, so that was kind of nice--not a huge wait for Monday at lunch time. Howard flagged me over once it was done and asked me if I wanted to pay with a debit card (even though I told him when he first asked that I would be paying with credit card) and I responded in like, "nope, still a credit card". He begrudgingly took my credit card, ran it through the machine, stapled all my paperwork together and I was on my way. Customer service: meh. Timely and Promptness: pretty good Price: mid-range (although looking through other Yelp reviews, I should have checked out some of the other places that were not as pricey and had way better customer service) Overall experience: Probably not go back again, nor would I recommend it to a friend but...it did the job so...if you're desperate, it is definitely an option, just not the best one. read more

Pricing was not as clear as it should be. Was told $50 plus about $11 in fees and I called them out because $65 for smog is too much! I have a small car and most other competitors have prices posted up front and you don't have to barter with the salesperson.
