This place is great. Howard is the main guy and he was very friendly and helpful. He's a quiet man but his kindness and willingness to help you out speaks for him. You can get A coupon off of the website or here on yelp for $30. Plus a small additional fee for the state smog certificate. It really is a great deal, very easy to get to, very fast and efficient. Depending on the time of day, the wait time is little to none. I was in and out in about 15 to 20 minutes. First off I should start off by saying that I have been coming to this location to do my smog check for many years since it is walking distance from my home. I've never had any complaints before, however my next visit was not the case. I knew something was up when I was pulling in and the service technician violently signaled for me to pull in from the rear of the station (instead of the front, which I had normally done in the past). I pull down the window and I am greeted with a harsh "what are you here for?" No sooner than I explained he barked orders for me to present my DMV registration renewal slip and fill out a form. When I finished filling out the form he told me to stay put in the waiting room until the smog check was done. I explained that I intended to walk home for breakfast and asked if he could call me when the car was ready. He mumbled something under his breath, which I could not understand. When I asked to repeat what he said, he opened my car door and rudely ushered me out of my car! Can you believe that? I did go home for breakfast and received an angry call on my phone from the same technician saying "you gotta pick up your car now, we are short on space and I need to keep the parking open!" Yes it was a convenient smog check, at a good price ($51 w/ online coupon print-out) and yes the wait time was acceptable. However the unprofessional customer service and rudeness of the technician has made me decide to drive halfway across town for my next smog check then to have to subject myself to such humiliating treatment. Take it from me, it's better to go somewhere more expensive and further away in exchange for decent customer service that your dignity deserves! read more

I need to read these other reviews to see why they don't like this place. All I can tell you is that I HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE HERE. Here's what happened. We took a pickup truck into a different smog place (elsewhere in Irvine) to be smogged. That other place said the truck failed.. not because emissions levels were high, but because the timing was allegedly off (they said it measured 5 degrees off center, and noted that measurement on the paperwork) and not correctable via adjustment. That other place said the truck needed a new timing chain which they (the other smog place) could replace for $1,300. So, we brought it to US Smog Check. US Smog Check pointed out that, right under the hood, there was A FACTORY STICKER THAT INDICATED TIMING IS SUPPOSED TO BE 5 DEGREES OFF CENTER. So, the other smog place should have passed the vehicle (they kept the fee despite wrongfully failing the vehicle, btw), and then the other smog place tried to make an ill-gotten profit by fixing something that didn't need to be fixed. IMHO, that other place was either ignorant or dishonest. In any event, US Smog Time properly passed the vehicle, and pointed out the other smog shop's egregious error. This place should be sued for false advertising. It states on the photo I attached that a smog check is $29.75 on cars year 2000 & up plus the $8.25 certificate. The only exception is lists on here is luxury and older cars. When I got here they told me there was an extra fee for my car size (2012 Chevrolet Equinox). Also, they charge a $2 fee for them to send the paperwork to the DMV. Because of all these hidden fees, I was charged $51.00 instead of the advertised price of $38.00. Besides this, the owner or manager or whatever the hell he wants to call himself is EXTREMELY rude. He told me that maybe I should just leave if I didn't like it. I ended up doing the smog check because it needed done that day to renew my registration and the entire time I was paying he was mocking me asking if I now love them and would come back. AVOID THIS PLACE, unless you want to be overcharged, scammed, and Insulted! I called Friday morning (Jan 19th) asking about a Smog check. I indicated I found them on Google and noticed they had a coupon online for $38 smog check. I arrived Friday afternoon, and Ramin quoted me a cost of $78 indicating, my Chevy Van costs more to conduct a smog check. He said he would offer me discount and conduct the smog check for $68 if I paid in cash. When I asked him why it costs more to conduct a smog check on my truck vs another car. He indicated it was because it was a larger vehicle w/ a V8 and there was a greater liability. Which is, simply BS. Smog testing usually consists of plugging in the Test machine into the Vehicles OBD connector, inserting a Emissions detector in the tail pipe and conducting a visual check that there is no exhaust leak in the vehicle. Ramin then proceeded to insult my heritage by claiming, "Well the owners, are Korean and they want us to charge as much as possible." I quickly turned around and headed to another Smog check place where I was charged the same fee as any other vehicle and was in/out within 10 minutes. read more

I don't need to be treated like I'm a rock star or give me free coffee, just put the machine on and tell me if my car passes or not. I went next-door got into reading my email. The waiting room there is comfortable with the television and I didn't have to wait long at all before Howard comes over and tells me that my car is ready. I pick it up pay him and I'm on my way. Showed up without a call-ahead on a Wednesday around 3PM. Was not the only customer. Took around 45min to complete my smog check. Howard and I had some good conversation for the final 20min. No dedicated parking or waiting area, but you're welcome to use the seating are of the neighboring car wash. Or take a walk. Not receiving white-glove customer service shouldn't ruin your experience like I've read in some reviews. read more

Unfortunately I only yelped this place after I went and got my smog check. The online coupon is just a trick to get you to go in. When I came in, the dude just told me my car doesn't apply but told me he'd give me 10 dollars off. I drive a Lexus 2009 but the coupon says 40.00 -- I get that a luxury car can be a LITTLE extra, but I payed 60.00 even with a 10 dollar discount. Next time I will go somewhere else. If you're going to create a coupon make it legitimate. The smog check took literally 10 minutes - it's a complete rip off. Smog checks shouldn't cost more than 30 dollars ever. read more

Pretty awesome customer service. I was on a time crunch, so they made sure to check my car and do an oil change as thoroughly and quickly as possible. The prices are fairly reasonable. I don't often write reviews, but this place is complete shit. I got my oil change from here a few months ago, and my engine just broke down (rod bearing specifically) because they had put the wrong oil in my car. I talked to the mechanic next door (different company) and he told me that he bought oil from them once and it was extremely poor quality oil. I don't recommend going here at all. Be careful. Make sure you save your receipt for the warranty when you need it. read more

I would definitely recommend this center if you need to deal with an annual smog check for your car. I brought in my car, and it failed the initial smog check. The main employee (didn't catch his name) told me exactly why the car had failed the smog test and how to fix the issue quickly. I went to this place on 5/4/17 to get a oil change and smog check. When the work was completed I went to pay the owner, this shyster piece of shit, which his name is Howard. He was supposed to charge me once for $188.00 but he charged me twice for a total of $376. He ran my card the first time and played if off as if the card declined and ran it a 2nd time and charged it. He tells me after the fact once he collected both payments that my card was charged twice and that it wasn't him it, it was his payment merchant and also he states that he's been ripped off by customers before so he needed to make sure funds were in the account. He proceeded to tell me that tomorrow morning the payment should be back in my account and everything should be fine. I wake up this morning and nothing has been reversed. When I called him this morning he tells me it's out of his hands, he has nothing to do with it, it's his payment merchants fault not his. I told him if you were afraid of non payment you could've told me before charging me and I could've shown him that their was enough funds in the account for just one charge not 2. He refused to refund me and told to contact my bank to reverse the charge which I did and I filed a complaint with the BBB and the FTC. This guy is a crook and he should have his business shut down for shady practices. I know for a fact I'm not the only one he's scammed. He deserves 0 stars, goddamn lying sack of shit, hope the place burns to ground! read more

Above and beyond customer service! I arrived at the end of a busy day, anxious to get this done. Howard told me it was perfect timing, he could get me in and out quickly. Then I realized I couldn't find my wallet. I looked in my bag, my car - no luck. Howard told me not to worry about it; he would do the smog check and I could come back later and pay! Found a coupon online for my overdue smog check and followed directions to this place, pleasantly surprised it shares a space with a car wash so I was able to knock out two birds with one stone... pulled the car in and was greeted right away, they pulled my car in, quoted me 20-25 minutes and then I waited in the lovely lounge on the comfy couch, and to my surprise, my car was done, passed, and info transmitted to the DMV in under 20 mins!! They offered a $29.75 coupon (plus 8.25 for certificate) which is probably one of the best deals in town for a smog test. I went to US Smog a few days before my smog check was due and had my coupon ready. I was informed of all charges upfront, including an extra charge for my car because it was classified as "utility." When I asked Howard about it, he very nicely explained the classification and showed me on my DMV smog form where it was listed. He also gave me the great tip of stopping by the nearby AAA to process my registration instead of doing it online and having to wait for the stickers and form in the mail. I needed a Simple Smog Test before I sold my car and US Smog Test Only was the closest location to my house. I really wanted to get the test over with and didn't expect I would get so much trouble from this establishment. The location is on the corner of Culver and Michelson; right across the street from the Whole Foods plaza. It's in the corner behind the car wash. There's one test spot and two technicians that don't seem to have their act together. I pulled in right behind another person and when the technician came up to me, he was far from pleasant. He gave me a clipboard and demanded information from me rather than requesting it. After a couple smug remarks he told me my car would be done in approximately 45 minutes. I asked him if I could pay beforehand and walk around the area and he said No abruptly. He told me to just take my time and pay when it was done. I took this time to walk around the Whole Foods plaza and in 45 minutes I made my return. The same tech told me that it'd be a few minutes more when I got back so I just waited in the customer lounge. After 30 more minutes of waiting I knew something was up. I came out to talk to another technician that was working named Howard; the same infamous Howard from the other reviews. I told him what the other tech had told me and he said you can't trust what he says and that there were two cars in front of me. Such debauchery in a work place. Not only was the service subpar and the technicians unprofessional, the test was $61 total! Do yourself the favor and go somewhere else! This place will take your peace of mind! read more

This is a awful place! I came here because it is the closest place to my house. I paid almost $40 for the oil change. After 3 months I went to other places to get my oil change, but people told me they couldn't do it for me because people made a terrible mistake last time when I got my oil change. They all told me this Mobil place was responsible for this and I had to get it fixed before I could get the oil change. So I came back here and asked them if they could fix it. Instead of checking the car, a short guy kept yelling at me saying what is the problem. Every time I tried to tell him what the other guys told me about, he stopped me and yelled out loud ''please try to understand!" The most ridiculous thing was these guys kept telling me I was tricked by the others, saying that they were just trying to charge me more! It reminded me last time when I got my smog check, I asked that short guy to check my right brake light for me. He told me it worked fine. If a person did not lose his sight, he would be able to see that my brake light didnt work!! This is the last time I got my oil change here only because other places wouldn't risk and do it for me! Again they asked for $38 without even asking what model and what year my car was. How professional these people are! I swear I won't come back again! I had called yesterday to check the price. Howard asked what kind of car it was. I told him the exact model, and he said that, with the $10online coupon, it would be $51. I wrote the price down. When I got there today, I was briskly told a price that was higher than what I had been quoted over the phone. The technician said it was because my vehicle was not a sedan, but an SUV. When I told him about my phone call, he still made it seem like I was pulling a fast one. He checked with Howard and insisted on the higher price. When I started to pull out of the station to go elsewhere, they agreed to the price Howard had quoted me over the phone. After the work was done, they said I had to pay with the debit card and not the credit card because they had given me a special price. Howard refused to even return my greeting and looked at me angrily as though I was cheating them. The good thing was that, at 11:15 on a Friday, there was no wait.
