Many people have been quick to tell me about negative experiences they had with this particular post office, after they heard about my own horrible experience. I ordered some stack rings (with the names of my children, and grandchildren... some living, some dead... engraved on them) from a seller on Etsy; so it was a very personal package to me... but a new postal carrier accidentally took my package to my former address (even though I had filled out a change of address card). At first, employees at the post office, were very sympathetic, and apologized about the new carrier's mistake, and assured me that my package would be redirected to my current address. A few weeks later, I received a peach slip on my front door, stating that someone had tried to deliver the package to my current address, finally. But since I was not home, they did not leave the package. So I checked a box, on the slip, giving the carrier permission to leave the package even if no one was home. More weeks passed... And I filled out online forms with the USPS, requesting that my package be delivered to my current address. Eventually, Patricia Lancaster, from this particular post office branch, contacted me, and assured me that everything would be taken care of, and asked me not to fill out any more online requests. Ms. Lancaster told me that the package would be found and re-delivered... Especially since it had been brought to my current address at one point... And if it did not show up, the carrier would have to refund the money that I had paid for the rings, in the lost package. I thought that was only fair... And I notified the seller at Etsy, and told her that I may have to re-order the rings once I received the refund. A few weeks later, Ms. Lancaster called me, and said that she had contacted someone at the leasing office, of my former address, and they had told her that because I had not filled out a second change-of-address for the locker portion of the mailboxes, it was actually my fault that the rings were lost, and they were closing the case, and there would be no refund. Of course that sounded very sketchy to me, so I emailed the leasing office, myself, and they stated they had never said anything even remotely like that. They said ONE "change of address" card was all I needed to fill out. So the USPS was just trying to shirk their responsibility of losing my package, and shift the blame to me. I forwarded the email from the leasing office, to Ms. Lancaster, at the post office, giving her even more proof that my lost package was the fault of the USPS, and not my own... and I reminded her that since the package had finally made it to my correct address (when the peach slip had been posted on my front door), that it had nothing to do with the lockers, or a bogus required 2nd change of address... The post office had actually lost the package, again! I asked her if there were other people I could contact at the post office that would be more helpful, and she just stopped replying to any of my emails, or returning any of my calls, at that point.. When her attempt to blame me for my lost package fell through, she realized the fault lay directly with the USPS (particularly this location), yet made it perfectly clear that they would not accept responsibility... and she completely stopped responding, and refused to give me the name of other people I could contact for help. I doubt I will ever receive my package... And Ms. Lancaster has made it clear there will be no refund for my lost package. An average of three stars for a review is an embarrassing score for a government agency. But I completely understand why the score at THIS particular post office is so low. Such incompetence!...embarrassing. Beware. read more
