I put my biz mail INSIDE the post office slots 8 months ago, and my mail with checks inside never made it to the businesses. 3 of the checks were washed, with new names and attempted to cash in other states. Just recently it happened again ( I know, I shouldn't have gone back) . Was given the runaround on who to report to. Yet, despite me being polite, the woman, also a PoC, at the counter today was burusque and rude. Absolutely horrible. The guy who works here should be hidden away in a warehouse someplace. Customer service from this guy is barking at people, throwing out attitude, and if feeling decent, making everyone in line wait while he has long conversations about nothing. Terrible. The worst experiences in this Post Office in the past several years. It just gets worse. 8 windows. One person working so slowly that we couldn't believe it. 25 minutes to process two people before me with a line of 9. The single man seemed untrained and asked a lot of questions that were irrelevant to my buying first class stamps!? I finally thanked him and left. Headed to a competent branch in Union Square. YEP - RUDEST CLERK EVER AT THIS POST OFFICE The kind that can ruin your day with their bad attitude. It's as if you're putting her out by having an item to mail. She will send you back across the room to fill out forms, even when there are no other customers and it could be easily completed at the desk. It's like she lives to make things inconvenient for you. Oh and don't even think about bringing your well-behaved children inside with you, she'll not only give you the stink eye, but will ask that they stand away from everything. This post office is sneaky, oh so sneaky. It hides on Mount Auburn street in the same green building as this Armenian grocery store. It's easy to walk by, more than once! The sneakiness of it aside, I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to mail something. There's just two people at the window, but they get the job done. Typical hours - not convenient - but everything I've ever mailed here has gotten to its destination. Yay USPS. read more

We went in to buy stamps for our wedding invitations last week and the clerk (Bob) couldn't have been nicer. He asked to measure and weigh our invites to check if we needed extra postage. We did and thankfully avoided sending out invitations with not enough postage. That would have been a huge embarrassment. He was very patient with us picking out the stamps we liked for the invitations, helping other customers waiting while we decided and not rushing us along. We dropped them off today and asked if he could cancel them by hand as our wedding planner suggested and it was no problem at all. Thank you for all the help with our big day!! read more

A few years ago, I lived in Medford and worked in Watertown. This location is the post office closest to my work, so I would always bring my complicated-to-mail stuff here - the kind you can't just drop in a mailbox. (I manage a band, and when their EP was ready I was mailing tons of packages to record labels and magazines in the US and Europe.) Here's a little foreign postage training - For every foreign package, you need to fill out this green form stating the to and from addresses and the description and value of the contents, to make sure you aren't sending diamonds or anything that will upset a foreign economy. One piece of the form gets stuck on the package and stamped by the Post Office rep, along with the postage. The other half is ripped off and the customer keeps it. Basically, each package has a few different steps to it, not including actually paying for the stuff. It's a pain in the ass. It truly, truly is. I thank the stars for the invention of electronic press kits so I never again have to experience something like this, something that's been poisoning my soul. I usually dealt with this one super nice clerk, middle age guy with a grey mustache, who was great. He was actually the one who originally explained the process to me (above). I tried to do everything I could to make the process go as smoothly as possible - everything was filled out that could be filled out in advance, etc. It was a pain, and I'd have ten to fifteen pieces of mail sometimes, but no one ever said going to or working at the post office was a good time. We exchanged pleasantries, he stamped and printed and tore and stamped again until all the packages were done, then I'd pay and leave. No hard feelings. If I had only ever gotten this guy, this place would have five stars - easy. But then came attack of the day ruining sourpuss jerkface. The day two stars disappeared One day, I walked in with about ten of these things to mail. It was later than I'd usually go, maybe 20 minutes to 5 when I got to the counter. I stood in line with my almost-ready-to-go-out-just-needs-some-stamps-and-postage packages. Instead of my nice clerk, I got some guy I had never seen there before. Tall skinny middle age guy with white hair, puckered sourpuss face, and miserable attitude He did one of my packages, loudly sighing and then muttering under his breath. Taking as long to do one step as my "nice" post office guy (or any since, actually) took to do two, by the way. Then he sees that I have ten more packages, all with custom forms, and goes ballistic. This next part is paraphrased, and I have to admit I totally snapped at some point during this exchange, he made me so mad. Sourpuss tells me that he won't process the rest of my packages. I am taken aback. Won't process them why? He says that because the return address labels show I have a PO Box in Medford, that that's where I have to mail these packages. I tell him that doesn't make sense, why on earth would I have to mail them from Medford? He says it the rules. I tell him I've never heard that rule before at any other post office I've ever taken these to. He insists. I tell him I'll mail the next batch in Medford, but that I'd appreciate if he would finish processing my packages so they can be mailed out today. He refuses. I tell him I can't get to Medford before it closes, and that since I stood in line to just like everyone else I'd appreciate the same service. He tells me he will not help me, and mutters something along the lines of me 'not knowing what I'm talking about' and that I'm 'being difficult'. I EXPLODED. I have NEVER yelled at someone serving me in a customer service capacity before. Yelling included something about never being treated so poorly before, that I'd be calling to report his behavior, calling him a lazy jerk (probably laced with quite a few expletives, which I'm not proud of). I flung the payment for the one package he processed, grabbed my unfinshed packages and slammed out of there. This is probably three years ago, and I am still so mad about this I still occasionally fantasize about that dickhead being afflicted with painful hemorrhoids or bitten by rabid dogs. I have been back since, and it was just my "nice" clerk there. Maybe they finally realized that customer service wasn't dickhead's forte. Or he pissed off the wrong person. By the way, I asked at several other post offices if they'd ever heard of any rules about where you were supposed to mail stuff from if you had a post office box, and none of them had ever heard of that. Several laughed out loud. So yeah, white haired guy from the Watertown Post office at 587 Mount Auburn St - you sucked two stars out of this otherwise wonderful Post Office. Ok, so I know all the jokes about postal employees and "going postal" and all, but seriously, this place is such a cliche. The postal workers always seem to be in a bad mood. When there was along line during the Holidays everyone was waiting patiently and she actually suggested that people drive across town to the other Post Office because they had more postal workers there. The pens on the counters are often out of ink. It's just such a bummer to have to go to the Post Office these days. :( read more

I love this post office. If you go at the "right time of day" it's easy peasy! Jeanie is so sweet (I can not believe how rude people can be on here) but I wanted to offer a perspective of who she really is. I left my bag there, with my cc, a book, products & she sent it to me. I didn't even realize it was missing and there appeared in the Mail my belongings! Nice to know that your neighbors care & are honest. Was given this number to call by the customer service department to find out why our package was labeled return to sender. The gentleman who answered the phone was completely rude. I started to explain the package situation and he cut me off and goes cause it was a Saturday and your business was probably closed. And i said, yes it looks like the package was attempted to be delivered Saturday but the building does not lock the main doors are open that lead to our mailboxes. So i continued to ask him politely if he could check if they package was still local if so we could send someone to pick it up, he cut me off again and said no, it's gone. It's not here, nothing for me to check. I said sir can you please just take a look, Ill hold and he said I've been here long enough i know how and when my mail goes back due to incorrect address. I then proceeded to tell him how we have a copy of the label listing our business address and correct information, so the package could not be due to an incorrect address. And he said well i dont know how else to tell you and then said goodbye and hung up. I have never been spoken to so rude for something so simple as putting down a phone to check if a package was still at a facility. If you have another postal location you can use, please USE IT! The people at this location are full of rude comments and useless information. read more

I have given up on going to this post office. The woman, who is apparently the only person who works there, is rude and unprofessional. One time we went there to mail something after work, and the door was locked, with a note that said "back in 15 mins". Fifteen minutes from what time? That would be crucial to know, if I had to decide to wait, or try to get to another post office before 5:00pm to get my stuff mailed that day. Yesterday, I went there for the last time. There were probably six customers in there, and I was in the middle of filling out a mailing label, when she yelled "Youze all have to leave now. I gotta lock up" and promptly booted everyone out on the street without apology or explanation...and well before posted closing time. I will never go there again. read more

THE RUDEST CLERK I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED AT THE POST OFFICE. The clerk at this branch has twice told me not to bring my mail for processing--even though I packed, stamped, addressed, and labeled media in the way that I had been directed by someone in that very office. (The first time I brought approximately 12 pieces to mail; the second time I brought 9 pieces.) I arrived mid-afternoon the first time, at 4:35 pm the second time. He was outraged that I arrived at the "end of the day", told me to go to another town to take care of my mail. I'm worried now that he might be vindictive, and that my packages won't be sent at all. I don't know what this man's problem is, but I think he's fortunate to have a job. The USPO can't afford poor customer service. Usually, this is a great post office because one can park and also go to the wonderful Armenian markets next-door, but I'm uneasy to return there. This upset me so much that I've been compelled to yelp and complained to a supervisor. I have complained to the central post office and filed a complaint. This post office is not very big and sits a corner on Mount Auburn St. Due to its petite size, it is generally quiet and only one, at max two, people at the counter. I am there every few days at various times shipping items that customers have purchased. As such, I have waited 1 minute (or seconds) to ship to 30-45 minutes. It really depends on the time of the day and the season. Especially if their is only one employee there and it's during a "rush" hour, realize that it may take longer than 5 minutes. The employees are kind, helpful and are more than happy to point you in the right direction of what forms to fill out etc. read more

Easier to deal with than the post office in Watertown Square -- a little better parking, usually less crowded. The two neutrally pleasant regular clerks are OK; they take their time and don't seem to feel the need to work quickly, but perhaps their brains are impaired by the constant aroma of pungent spices from the Armenian market next door. read more

Closed Friday at 1pm (during normal full service hours of 9am-5pm) with a "will return at 1:30pm" sign. We waited 30 minutes and returned to find a new "will return at 2:30pm" sign. Very frustrating to see they are unexpectedly closed for at least 1.5 hours (likely longer) during a single 8 hour weekday shift. read more

This is the worst customer service I've experienced in my life. I was told to call this number about a package that was never received. I called and the guy cut me off before I could even get a sentence out and gave me a different phone number. When I tried to ask a question he hung up on me. The man was so unprofessional and shouldn't have a job working with the public if he clearly can't handle getting phone calls and fielding questions from people. Someone should clean house at this location and get some employees who aren't complete jerks to customers. read more
