So it is close to anywhere I want to be. But what makes this post office so great in addition to proximity is the extended hours. It is open until 7:00 PM Monday through Friday, so I can get to the post office after work but before it closes. This post office is also open on Saturdays, until 3:00 PM I think. And even when this post office is closed it has a walk-in "Self-Service" area available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. I would have to say this is an all-around great post office. Way to go, United States Post Office Southfield!

I went in to have wedding invitations hand cancelled which I understand is not available anywhere. I waited in line for atleast 30 minutes and they told me they couldn't do all of them. Fine. I took half to a different usps that gave me no issues whatsoever and also a short line, they noticed I had a letter addressed to Canada and let me know I needed another stamp. I went back to this usps to add the stamps to the Canada invites I left with them. They had already machined them out not hand cancelled even though I had told them If there was any problem I would gladly take them elsewhere. Staff is insanely rude. I even offered to hand cancel them myself and they told me no. Like I said that's fine I obviously had no issues taking them somewhere else or even dividing them to make the process easier. But why lie about the service you're able to provide when I said atleast 5 times I will take them elsewhere. This Location will forever be famous for the coined term "going postal" for the Roakens…read more How notable that the postal office in the downtown was famous for a very horrible incident long ago. According to Wiki the term as aforementioned, came about from a number of incidents that occurred from 1986 onward. That term became a reality in November 14 of 1991 here in Royal Oak. Despite the pure chaos and madness back in 1991, all has been calm since, thankfully. The post office is also a location where you can update your passport and take photos, which is a little known fact by a few folks. This building hasn't been updated, inside or outside, except maybe the addition of the ramp outside. It looks well for the carbon dating and well used. It's still an iconic building due to the incident back in 1991. Got to cut it some slack, since it looks like it's been around since the 1800s, is that true? When was this building erected on second Street? Does anyone know? I can't find it on a Google search easily.
