You'd have to pay Fedex or UPS more than double for the same package. But this review is about this postal station. And here's my opinion: it's physically run down, it's shabby & dirty, the actual station where you do business with federal employees is painfully small. Lines of customers frequently queue out the door. Wait times are often way too long. Postal clerks are not enthusiastic nor happy. So, you get to send stuff cheaply. You just won't have fun doing it at this post office. The world is often a cruel imperfect place. Deal with it.

I haven't had my fingerprints taken in years and the last time, I think I went to the sheriff's office in Marin County and had to return because my prints weren't clear enough. They offer walk-in LiveScan services and the small storefront on the east side of 4th Street was quiet when I dropped by this afternoon. The two employees were chatting pleasantly and greeted me right away when I entered. Rachel spotted the forms in my hand and guessed correctly that I was there to have my fingerprints taken. Sure enough, like I've experienced before, the first try was unsuccessful. I don't have pronounced ridges on my fingers apparently, but they had a gel that she asked me to rub on my hands and the 30 seconds later we were good to go. Second time was the charm! I'm happy to report that my school covered the costs, so I wasn't privy to the charges, but I was in and out in under 10 minutes. I also checked and found that they offer private mailbox services and can ship via UPS, FedEx and DHL, so the next time that I'm on that side of town, I'll definitely remember them!

The paper I was given said they were available Monday through Friday and to call for Saturday. I called late Friday as soon as I was given the paper and no one answered. I checked online hoping to find more information and their website did not work. I arrived Saturday morning when they opened so that I could make it back to school to complete the paperwork an hour later. When I arrived there were no other customers. I politely explained my situation. The clerk said that the program was not available on Saturdays and there was nothing they could do for me. I left feeling so sad that I had spent the last two months working hard in my class to not be able to take the state exams because my fingerprints were harder to take. I called another location and explained my situation and they said that they would make an exception for me and to come in. Thankfully the other location was kind and compassionate which allowed me to complete my paperwork for graduation and sign up for the state exams. I do not recommend this location. I do not think that they care to help others which is bad customer service.

The woman that's often there is awesome at fitting things into boxes and she packages everything very well. I have used them multiple times to ship wine across the country and they do a great job - not all shipping places will ship wine. Because I go there regularly, they have my family's addresses saved in their system which makes it really easy. My packages get where they're going on time when I use Postal Plus. Highly recommend!

The local postmaster and David are not only knowledgeable, capable and helpful but they also happen to be super friendly and genuine. Our little community often out prices ourselves and it makes it hard to have a central hub where people can meet and communicate and be on a equal level but this post office is that place. In the past you have been rude, negative & unhelpful. toward me. Once John, when I asked you how to get a change of address after my son's death & once again, John, when I wanted to know how to send Santa's Letters for the Soroptimists of Calistoga. But sure enough, I got you again today John and you did not disappoint. I had applied online & had all the copies I needed. Still you never acknowledged me John or even asked me if I was applying for a new, renewal, or lost passport. John you made me fill out a form that I had already filled out online & then halfway thru filling out the form, when I asked you a question, you told me not to fill out the form at all & just sign it. Then I asked you John if I could get a passport card & you said no because I didn't check that box on the form & that I would have to re-apply. At this point I would have paid anything just to get that box checked & get out of there. At the end of my application process John, you handed me a receipt & asked me to fill out a survey to let the post office know how you are doing.
