It was my first time visiting this post office after…read moremoving to the area and I think Google Maps sent me the wrong direction because I was met with do not enter signs in every direction when I pulled into the parking lot. After parking and heading inside, I stood in line behind about 4-5 other customers. There were two employees working and the line moved relatively quickly. I got my stamps, mailed my letter, and headed out with no issues. Would definitely return again, but next time I would try to find another entrance to the parking lot, since I don't think I had the right one.

Now this post office is much closer to my Mom's house then the one in Rye,NH. This is a little bit…read morebigger. I stopped in here twice. First time was to mail a birthday package to my friend. There was no wait & it wasn't busy. Place was clean. Finding the main entrance from the road can be a little tricky with all the tree's hiding the post office but don't fear if you drive by it you can turn around in the exit road where there is a couple of mail boxes to the side. I talked with the employee about a book rate due to wanting to mail myself some nursing books back to Vegas. On my second trip there I mailed my books. The same friendly lady waited on me. Wish I got her name but she was cheerful & very nice. Another quick trip & I was in and out. There's PO Boxes to rent here & they sell some shipping supplies. When I'm home I will definitely be coming back here for all my post office needs since its so close to my Mom's.

Well, after a few days I decided to call, I was dreading to go in so I decided to try out the phones. Called, spoke to a gentlemen, he said he would call me back, I wasn't holding my breath with this one. Within 5 minutes he called, said my package was at another post office and he would go pick it up and hand deliver it to my house. OK, WOW on the customer service!!! The post office workers here are always nice and friendly and I have never had a problem with my packages not making it to its destination. I also walk in my letters to be sent out as well as I sometimes have to send checks in the mail. Overall, a perfect little post office conveniently located near the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

When I explained my situation to the window clerk, the woman said she would hand cancel all of them, but asked us to leave since they were about to close. However, when the wedding invitations started to arrive a few days later, I learned the clerk didn't just not hand cancel them, but sent them to Boston to be canceled by a machine. It's a shame you can't trust anyone to do their job right anymore.

One stop shopping at this very tiny office. There are no mail carriers out of the office. Also,…read morethere is no post master at this location; just one woman who works hard behind the counter. Private and shared parking lot, plus on street parking. The rating is 4 because it is a one person shop and 1 staff person to handle during the rush is crazy. You can stand in line for quite a bit just to get stamps. You are better off buying the stamps online. The rating is also 4 because it is such a small office which means very few P.O. boxes to lease. There is usually a waiting list for the P.O. boxes. Otherwise, the woman staff member works hard and handles all the mail all day long every day of the week and on Saturday. I don't know how she does it. I do remember when there were a couple staff working the office.
