This US Post Office or Weybosset Hill is located on Broad St. Once you walk in, you'll see PO Boxes on the right and on the left through the doors are the staff for assistance. I came in on a Tuesday morning around 10:00am to mail a small package out. There were two staff members behind the desk and one of them asked me if I needed any assistance once I walked in. I said I was fine, but appreciated their willingness to. I got a bubble mailer and filled out the information. I mailed the small package with USPS Ground Advantage. Tracking is included for free on all Ground Advantage packages. The receipt indicates the destination, weight, estimated delivery date, tracking #, insurance up to $100.00 included, and grand total. Closed early, lady stood out front and blocked people from coming in. Super aggravating, had to walk my packages back to my car in the rain.

I didn't even think Yelp reviews existed for post offices.. .but thank god they do! Prior to this, I have NEVER had a good experience at a USPS... and everytime I go in.. I hope for the best. Unfortunately, USPS failed me again. I walked in at 4:30, and there was only one employee working. He looked like the pirate from the pirates of the carribean, could barely walk, and had two fake eyes that didn't move... they were extremely creepy. Not to be judgmental, but I did not trust passing my graduate school applications to him. I ended up waiting about 15 minutes because the machine broke, and he couldnt figure out how to fix it. He kept muttering frustrations. In addition, the sanitation of the establishment is disgusting. It looks like nothing new has come in since the 70's, nor that it has been cleaned. It is musty, yellow, dim, and everything seems to have a layering of dust on it. Fortunately, the machine started working again and my price came out about $3.00 cheaper than I expected. Save yourself the need of having to shower after exiting this location, and go to the next closest USPS station. read more

I don't know why this place is rated so low but I always have such pleasant trips here. The ladies are always so friendly and always smile. They are helpful to me when it came to buying stamps because I'm clueless. The hours are good and it's located just a walk from me. I love that it's in the city for the people who don't drive. The first time when I started using online shipping labels with ebay their shipping label wasn't scanning so i went home and I called the machine company and when i came back i told them about my situation with my machine and the bar codes isn't scan nable so i had to keep reminding the clerk every time i come till i started seeing the same person and up till this day im still reminding them i mean im a customer here don't you guys recognize me i come in all the time im the customer with the barcode that doesn't scan. Then one time I came in with seventh avenue return shipping label and the clerk tells me that i couldn't use it so a few weeks gone i came back and they hired a lady and i asked her the same question and she told me that i can to use it. And now when I bring my packages to this post office they just keep trying to still scan the barcode then have a attitude about it and then hands me back my packages and tells me i can't mail my packages the barcode has to scan Then they said well something is wrong with the barcode and i told them ebay says nothing is wrong with there shipping labels i mean their attitude gets so miserable sometimes. So i went downtown Kennedy plaza two send my other packages and they two attitude is no different i only had two packages to mail the clerk had a lot of body movement going on in her attitude after i explained my situation of the barcode and she told me the same thing so i took my packages to staples and had no issues. Other than that this post office will tell you the truth and sometimes they would lye just to get the rid of you quick. This location have difficulties answering questions its like they just don't understand and they don't know what your asking I mean why is it so hard for them to answer customers questions over the phone or in person. I feel offended coming here they have such an attitude problem not one staff all. I remember returning a package using the company prepaid shipping label for USPS and when i came in he looks at my package to scan the bar code then tells me something is wrong with the shipping label bar-code so i told him to punch the numbers in. I used to mail all my packages at this P.O. ... until I didn't. I probably stopped by here a couple of times a month with a package. The process is simple enough. Stand in line (tip: If there are more than 3 people in front of you, can you come back another time? They are PAINFULLY slow. You're better off trying again later), hand package, get asked "Any lithium batteries, hazardous materials, perfumes, etc etc?" Say "no," get receipt. The end. Most of the time this simple process was painless enough. There is one guy who is always there who seems to have a huge chip on his shoulder about something. I had long since stopped trying any niceties (good morning. How are you? Have a nice day. The usual) as he didn't seem to care. Though I will say that he often managed the same niceties to folks before me and after me. Whatever. It was a few minutes of my life, the location is super convenient, and my packages were always delivered. So what changed? I had a more "complicated" package to send. BIG MISTAKE. I tried to ask a question to clarify why it was so expensive to send a package the size of an envelope. Well, all hell broke loose for the curmudgeon. He was vile (more so than usual) and disrespectful (more so than usual). When it comes to customer service all I ever ask for is respect and a sense of civility. I try to give the same, as many "customer oriented" jobs are thankless. Plus is just human decency. I took my package and went to the P.O. near Kennedy Plaza. What did the woman at that counter tell me? The exact same thing this guy basically spat at me. It took all of 30 seconds, she was matter of fact, and get this, respectful. This post office is okay, but far from great, and nowhere near the best post office I've ever been to. They've always had everything I needed in the way of materials to mail things, but there's always the same guy behind the counter when I go in, and he is not the nicest/friendliest. He seems to have a short temper/low tolerance for people. I realize he also may not deal with the greatest customers in his job...but I think that just means this may not be the best job for him. I should also say that I am very nice and friendly to people who work in customer service, so I don't think I was the problem. I have felt, as others noted, that he does seem to expect you to know the answers to many of the questions you might ask, and so he's annoyed and short when answering you, but I've actually found that after going to this location and dealing with this man a few different times, I kind of got the hang of what he expects, so I think I piss him off a little less now. I haven't been in there in several months so I can't entirely remember what things bothered this guy, except for the fact that if you are mailing a package in something that requires tape - DO NOT expect this guy to use the post office's tape to close up your package. Instead, you will have to buy a whole roll of packing tape from them. I'm pretty sure I've been to other post offices where they had packing tape behind the counter and just sealed something up for me (because I bought a flat rate box on site), but not at this location! For anyone wondering, this must be a big issue there, because I remember there being at least one sign alerting patrons to this policy. Also, my mail was turned away on multiple occasions for something I think was allowed at the post office in other places I have lived. What happened was that my landlord had gotten some large USPS envelopes and pre-paid the postage on them, so the postage was not regular stamps, but more like an ink stamp that had the date and time on it. These envelopes were purchased and postage pre-paid with the purpose of the envelopes being mailed on a later date. The issue was that I tried to mail the envelopes way after the date on the postage stamp, and this apparently means it can't be accepted, at least at this location. I think the trick at this place is to ask questions about their actions. They simply said nope, can't mail it because it has this old stamp, but I don't think they explained why, so at the time I thought I couldn't mail the envelope period. I think the truth was that the envelope can be mailed, but if this post office accepted it, it must be someone's job to make sure everything gets mailed in a timely fashion, and that "someone" would have seen the date on my envelope and assumed the post office messed up and didn't mail my parcel for weeks or months, and maybe the post office would have gotten in trouble? This would have been helpful to know, because at the time, I thought the envelope and postage were garbage and/or could not be mailed at all, but the truth was slightly different - I'm fairly certain that it was just that THIS OFFICE couldn't/wouldn't accept the envelope, but if thrown in one of those blue USPS mailboxes it would have reached its destination. read more

This is the closest post office to my home. I come either early mornings on weekdays or morning on Saturdays. Of all the times I have been there, the service was prompt, polite, and friendly! This post office gets a bad rep for being on Broad Street and the occasional characters that come in but in my opinion, it's one that does the job and isn't as bad as everyone says. I just called this branch, I have never EVER received worst customer service in all my life. The rude woman didn't even let me finish my sentence before cutting me off. She then told me I needed to call my post office and blurted the number out immediately, got SO ANNOYED I didn't catch it the first time and when I asked the area code she was also extremely rude SORRY I JUST MOVED HERE I DIDNT KNOW THE AREA CODE you smeegle. She said OKAY BYE then went to hang up on me before I was even finished I told her she has an attitude and should not be working with people and she said WHAT and started to yell at me and I hung up. We went twice to get our passports done. Each time the lady behind the counter sent us back for more documents. This was not an issue at all. Her rudeness and downright insulting manner with each customer was truly disappointing. Worst customer service. my bf said it smelled like it hasn't been cleaned since 1971. also the lady wouldn't take my friend's envelope that had a pre-paid USPS label on it that said "first class mail" bc she insisted it said parcel post (it said first class). can't force a lady to read, but you can definitely choose UPS or FedEx.... read more
