I'm pretty irritated. I understand that there is a pandemic and that the post office has been facing some challenges within the current administration; however, I've got packages that were delivered to my P.O. Box address last week and still no notices in my box. Also, to make matters worse... the line is always excruciatingly long... and why in gods name would they want me to stand in that in the middle of a freakin pandemic when they could just put a key in my box. I do not recommend you use this post office. Staff is horribly rude. I was mailing a package and she weighed it and said out loud its over weight which was totally impossible because I own a postal scale my self and I know for a fact it was not overweight so i asked her to show me the weight she claims is overweight and she refused so that told me she was lying so I asked her if she had a pair of scissors and some tape and if she claims its overweight I can make it smaller it was an item in a double poly mailer she refused but the clerk next me gave her customer some tape and scissors so she could package up an item TOTAL DISCRIMINATION! Went in on April 12th to renew my kids passports. Paid for expedited service even though we had over 12 weeks til our trip to Germany. Yolanda filled out the applications and was sure we would get them back in time. 8 weeks later I received a letter back from the passport office that they received the applications but couldn't continue as Yolanda hadn't filled out her portion of the paperwork. Went back to the post office to find out we had to re-apply, meaning new pictures new application new everything. Tiffany helped us the second time around (see next POSITIVE review). Long Story Short passports did not come in in time, had to reschedule the trip, spend a ton of money in rebooking fees, missed hotels, train tickets you name it not to mention the stress of not knowing, calling the passport office, going online, going back to the post office, heartbroken family back home cuz we couldn't come visit. I hate to publicly talk bad about people but if you need a passport don't use Yolanda. She is very sweet and friendly but due to her mistake my only vacation this year had to be cancelled and I lost a lot of money and time. Maybe she wasn't trained right or had a bad day. If you need a passport - ask for Tiffany. She rocks! read more

I know what you're thinking: the post office might as well be the equivalent to a visit to the DMV, which I feel is universally understood to be terrible. But oh let me tell you, this review is long overdue for the Paso Robles Post Office on 6th. Busy, yes. Out of stock on shipping supplies and goods, sometimes yes (per being busy, as noted), looks like every other stark, federal building void of charm and always an eerie, stable 62 degrees? Yes. That's all to be expected. But the employees... Are. Amazing. Tiffany, especially, is an expert and has helped me numerous times and always ensures I'm shipping items correctly, be it packages sent around the world or just to the east coast. Yolanda, as well, is a gentle soul who is calm and collected even when dealing with the "Karens and Kens" of our privileged little world. All in all, 5 stars. Is it weird one of my favorite places in my hometown is my friendly, neighborhood post office? Yep. Definitely weird. But I don't care. read more

I have never had an issue with this post office, But today was a different story. The last couple of time coming in for work stuff the same person has helped me. Now that's fine no need to speak but when you need to tell me to sign the credit card machine or tell me if I have any perishables or anything like that, don't just point and not speak. I also waited in a long line for a long time. I also needed to get a package and the guy proceeded to point at another long line instead of just getting my package for me. Amazing! If only all government agencies could be this efficient, especially my local post office. Met my college student here to renew passport. We had called a week ahead of time to see about an appointment, and none was needed, just walk on in. Our local post office's first appointment was five weeks out & their camera was broken, so they also couldn't accommodate you with a picture. All of our paperwork was filled out, we had the proper documentation, and literally six minutes later (with them taking the passport picture), we were out the door! The place with no accountability! They do not care about your Mail, package, or anything else! They don't even ask for ID and have given our stuff to wrong people more than once! These dummies even forget to scan your package so after you get it, it still shows in the system. The employees at the Paso office are so uncaring and rude it sucks even having to deal with them. Post Offices have something of a reputation for being marginal when it comes to customer service but the post office on 6th street in Paso Robles has the best customer service of any I've ever used. While the entire staff provides excellent service, I'd especially like to mention Yolanda and Tiffany for being so helpful and a pleasure to converse with whenever I'm there. I keep hearing on the news about a slow down of mail deliveries. My personal experience is far from it. I mailed a box on Wednesday around 2pm going to Santa Clarita, ca and it arrived the next day. Usually it takes 2 days. The gentleman who helped me was very pleasant. Overall very pleased with the service I was provided. read more

The Postmaster is great. Vanderflip needs to work while at work! When a package arrives, put a yellow slip in the PO Box !!! Thanks to you not doing your job, I was unable to do mine. Please pay attention. This is getting old. I may go buy my own yellow paper, and put my box# on it, since you won't. This is a efficient post office. However, the occasional problem and how it's handled is a significant issue. The Postmaster said that anytime my shipper on a package says it's delivered, but there is no notification in my PO Box to please let him know if it ever happened again. I didn't know that that the notification slip should be in my box the same day that my shipper said it was sent, signed for. I went today, which is Saturday. There was a woman instead of the postmaster. The postal clerk sitting at the desk said the notification was probably in my PO Box, I just didn't see it. I said that sounds pretty unlikely, doesn't it? He stormed off and the woman manager appeared. She was annoyed with me immediately, didn't agree that it's unlikely that I would miss the bright yellow slip. Said that the workers had to search for my package. I asked her to educate me, that I may need to manage my expectations. Is the notification paper supposed to be in the box the SAME day that the shipper says it was received. Yes, she informed me, it should be the same day. I shared with her that the postmaster said to notify him if this happened again. That is what I was doing. This woman appears to have possibly exceeded the amount of caffeine that she should consume. She was angry, impatient and ticked that her employees had to search for my package. I was calm and polite, thanked her, said I was aware that there are quite a few customers beside me. I will speak with the postmaster and inform him about the poor customer service on Saturday from the woman and storming cl. I'm not going there on a Saturday again. read more

The post office doesn't have pens on their counters. They have the chains the pens should go on, but they don't have the pens. I cannot emphasize enough how few pens there were. There were zero pens. Walk-In Service: 5/5 Service by Phone: 1/5 Average: 3/5 Walk in service is typical for a post office. No complaints there. The kiosk inside is open for after hours delivery of parcels which is also very nice. However, never call the office looking for answers or a solution as to where your package/mail is and when it will be redelivered. If you do, prepare for a verbal sparring match. Which, if you're an adrenaline junkie, I would recommend. Thank you SUPERVISOR of the Post Office for that 5/5, would trigger again. In contrast to their supervisors, the men and women who deliver the mail are pretty great and friendly :) don't be afraid to approach them with questions regarding mail deliveries. **ADDENDUM** Passport Services here are great. Got everything done within a half hour. Make sure you bring EVERYTHING that is required. Call "The National Passport Information Center" to get the most up to date information for what you need to bring. read more

Today is the fourth time this summer that the mail delivery person has stuffed large packages into our small mailbox. The opening in the back of the boxes are larger than the front opening. Therefore, making it nearly impossible for the package(s) to be removed without nearly ripping them into pieces. I've called, gone to the post office to explain the situation and it continues to be a problem. I live just across the street from the boxes...delivery person could probably throw the package into my front yard, yet they continue to jam the box with large items that should be delivered to the door. The one star is because most people at the counter are friendly. But if I could give no stars I would for service. I sent a Priority Mail package which got no further than .santa Barbara and was returned to me empty...marked no contents. They lost irreplaceable photographs from 1934 that were being mailed to a museum. Unacceptable and inexcusable. I was, of course, devastated. It's been two weeks and I've not received my new mail box door or key. I was told on the first week it would be done on the Friday of the first week. The guy who helped me continued to argue with me despite my HOA rules that the post office must do it that I could go to a hardware store and get a locksmiths to do it for cheaper then the $85 dollar cost. He also failed to tell me that they could reroute my mail back to the post office for pickup. When I checked the following Monday a lovely lady informed me the person who does the doors and locks was off the previous week. She also had my arranged for my mail to get taken back to the post office. The mail lady forgot two days in a row but finally brought it back on Wednesday. It's been now two weeks with no word from the post office on my box door or key. I finally was able to get a live person to answer today and am awaiting a manger to get a firm time on my box door and key. Per HOA rules they must do this service. I'm at my wit's end here but don't have a choice but to use there services. I've never had such issues with the postal services and it seems from other reviews that my experience is unusual. read more

Hours listed are incorrect for this post office. They close at 5pm which is completely useless to those of us with an 8-5 job. They do offer ONE kiosk for after hours however it is only working 50% of the time and their employees do not know how to service it. The mail people the deliver to my place of business often leave mail for other stores and I am forced to chase them down to ensure it goes to the proper address. This involves the USPS. I suspect the culprit is the SLO Distribution Center rather than my small Templeton one. But either way.. this is the 2nd time that my Sidter has paid $47 to have a pkg shipped overnight delivery from her Post Office in Oregon and not only did it not ship overnight as she sent it on a Weds before noon and I just got it today the following Monday. The page was medicine so it was kind of important! Next time we will pay the few extra bucks (it can't be that much more!) and send it by Fed Ex! read more

For the past few months I have had several packages go missing with no explanation and my mailbox is full of other peoples mail but none of mine. Each time I go to talk to someone they all say the same thing, "there's a new carrier on your route". Well personally I've seen at least six different carries in the last few months and none of the problems have been resolved. Walked in on a Saturday afternoon and there were only 2 people ahead of me in line. There was only one woman working, but she seemed VERY friendly and was very accommodating to the people being assisted. I could only tell since it was quiet in the room, and we could hear the conversations of the lady and the customer. It took a long time since the man being helped at the desk had questions and a complicated order (I'm assuming). So 5 minutes in, I decided to just use the little self serve computerized machines to the left of the help stations, and boy was that convenient and quick! I needed to mail a letter to Germany and got the international stamp in less than a minute. It accepted my Discover credit card was which convenient and I was super thrilled that this Post Office (and maybe many more) have implemented these machines cut down wait times and provide convenience to customers just looking to do simple stuff and not having to wait in line for them. read more

I missed my post office box payment due to having to pay my rent being due, plus several other bills that pretty much leaves me broke. I am on a fixed income and have limited funds. They said I had to pay by the 10th. My retirement doesn't post until Wednesday the 13th. On the 11th, the post office had closed out my post office box; telling me that if I wanted to re-open it I would need to pay some fee to reopen it and for a new lock! I think this is unreasonable and over kill for being only one day past the due date. The counter staff is usually friendly and cordial. The one long haired man that works the counter, he acts like he hates his job and that you're bothering him. He should be working in the back, out of customer service area. read more

Wow, we've been to a lot of government offices and never had such a frustrating experience. It's been over an hour and still no passport renewals for the kids. We are in line now for the third time. We have had three different stories from different employees as to what form is required, what supporting docs are required and more. We called in advance for an explanation that turned out to be wrong. Then when in the office, the desk worker says only the janitor answers the phone. Seriously? Not my problem. One employee had us fill out one form, then another a different form. Then one said that was all we needed. When we came back they said, oh you also need both parents and you also need original birth certificates. Wait, the last guy said the form was all we needed, and that was the second form we filled out. This review would be one star for this experience, but I have had many positive experiences with other employees and the post master, so I'm adding two stars for them. To the others I would say that competence, or in its absence, friendliness, goes a long way. read more

I accidentally put the wrong shipping address on a package that was being mailed to me and I called the Post Office in a panic, as the package was for Father's Day. Jessica took down my information and actually tracked down my package before it was returned to sender. She said she put it in my PO Box herself so it would be there when I came to pick it up. This postal branch is the worst I've ever seen. I complained that the carriers have refused to deliver packages to my house and was told that they deliver only at "their discretion" which forces me to drive to the branch 20 miles round trip on a regular basis. Today I found one entire section of the local community mailbox wide open and when I called they said that "they'd let the carrier know". This office 'lost' my artist brushes I sold and sent to a client. It was delivered without content about 9 days later, going from this post office to Santa Barbara. I could not even file a claim as I did not purchase additional insurance. Additionally, I was charged an extra .30 cents on top of the regular postage that I had already put on ( I am mailing lots of these brushes) Then they 'lost' them. I have filled out several different forms online, including a missing mail form. I will also file a police report even though I know that won't do anything. Beware!! read more

i tried to take my son to the atascadero post office to get his passport, but they did not do passports on saturday. Apparently Paso is the only office in the entire county that does passports on saturdays. It was surprising how much busier this office is than atascadero. There was a line for passports when i arrived and i would say it was about 15 minute wait, but once started the actual passport process took less than ten minutes.The woman that did our passport said the process goes quickly when you are prepared with your paper work and photos, for the most part she was nice, and seemed very thorough. It would have been nice if there was somewhere to sit while we waited, or if there was more people to do the passports. Besides having to drive all the way to paso the experience was good, everyone we dealt with were pretty great. we got the passports back quickly in about two weeks. read more

Went in on Friday afternoon with no one in line. Originally got my passport from here. When I received it it was printed incorrectly and was told to go back to take a new picture and resubmit it. I walked in and was told basically we can't do anything. The guy took a new picture tried to charge me for their mistake. Told me there's nothing he could do and to get an envelope. I grabbed an envelope and waited for him to finish helping me. He ignored me and helped other people. Then looked at me and said rudely "uh did you need something". Made me get back in line and charged me to expedite the process even after being told I would not have to pay the fees due to it not being my mistake. Very rude and unprofessional.
