I wanted to give this post office some love. I use this PO the most to drop off my packages and other various tasks. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait but the line moves quickly and everyone I've encountered there has been very nice. I love the PO and it's still one of the greatest institutions created. I wish people working from inside the government weren't trying to destroy it from within so they can privatize everything and make more money. So yes, services and people have been cut back and prices have gone up. It's on purpose. Yesterday, I saw one of the young women there having a really difficult time with a customer. She had called for a supervisor but the guy refused to leave her window. I didn't catch the entire interaction. Even when the supervisor came out, he still refused to leave the window and she was trying to wait on me as the next customer. The supervisor finally got him to move over and I interacted with her and told her I could tell it had not been the best day. We sort of got a laugh out of it before I left her window. She was very nice to me. Interestingly enough, I could hear the conversation between this guy and supervisor beside me. He began telling the supervisor he was just trying to get his mail held so he could pick it up and she wouldn't do it. But by the time I left, I heard him say to the supervisor, "she thinks I'm trying to get my ex-wife's mail" and I realized the lady was trying to protect another customer and it sounded like a woman who may be having problems with an ex. I don't know the whole story but if that was an accurate situation, I'm glad someone at the PO cared enough to at least check into something before doing it! Support your Post Offices! read more

I came in about an hour before they closed to send out a package. The line was moving pretty quickly. There was at least three or four clerks, and once I got to the counter, the postmaster was so friendly asked how my day was going so helpful. This is very rare and I completely forgot thank her but hopefully this makes up for it. read more

Once again the 1 time I go to the post office because I need to mail something certified and the kiosk takes my money and then says printing. Knock on the door for help then some typical crap employee comes out, you don't to be making that much noise. The kiosk is broke. You could have called. Call who moron, some voicemail you people will never call back from. This place is a negative 10 sadly that's not an option. This place blows. Been printing 10 minutes. read more

US Postal Service is the bomb. Every experience I've had here has been great, but the lines are always SO long. They usually have two employees working at the counter, and if there are 2 people with packages in front of you, expect a 15 minute wait. It's not the employees, sometimes the customers just don't come prepared. I come here for the stamps, because I love specialty stamps! They don't carry all the ones you can get online, but sometimes I hit the jackpot and get some pretty awesome ones. I bought neon and thermoreactive Forever stamp sheets today (it is now 50 cents per Forever stamp). I wish they would put out the stamps that they carried in a glass container instead of having us wait to get to the counter to ask! Definitely come in after the noon rush, or in the wee hours of the morning to skip the long waits. read more

On my end, I messed up by forgetting my birth certificate for a passport appointment. Although they were short-staffed, Jennifer graciously allowed me to return a half hour later, and she squeezed me inside a different appointment time along with someone else. She was very forgiving and helpful. I was worried I would have to reschedule another appointment, which I could not do, but she understood and sacrificed some extra work to get me in. Reading all the bad reviews...just glad I got here right when it opened and got the help I needed. Have been here before and not gotten help with postage that should have been refunded, but that's always to be expected with the USPS. It seems we have a new mail carrier every week. My bank checks have been misdelivered, birthday cards, packages. My package shows 'delivered' but it was not. It was misdelivered and PO says they cannot find it. I understand that the scanner the post office uses is accurate to within 5 feet of the scan. So where was my package scanned? I am opening a PO BOX at a pack and ship up the street. I REFUSE to let this idiotic establishment touch anything that belongs to me. I'm sick of it. DO YOUR JOB!!!! read more

This is the SLOWEST post office I have ever been to! Only two workers at the counter while there is a line going clear out the main door. Absolutely RIDICULOUS! There's one lady behind the counter sitting down at a desk. I have to come to this post office because the postal person keeps leaving notices in my mailbox to come pick up packages, rather than leaving it in one of the postal lockers where I live. What an inconvenience and total waste of time! Get your crap together USPS! read more

I wish this was Covid related but unfortunately common courtesy from staff members is not Covid related. This location has also been under-staffed for years. If you want to wait 40 minutes to get a package sent go to this location. You will wait in a line of 10 people painstakingly watching as the seemingly only employee in the place takes a picture for and prepares one person's passport. I don't think it's really the employees but the upper management to fault here. If I had to work in a place where I was always getting yelled at by angry patrons bc of their insane wait time, I would probably be disgruntled and rude too. read more

Always have issues with this location. Any package that needs to be signed for is never delivered as we apparently are not home when they are delivering, however they have never rung the doorbell or come to the door for us to sign for the package. Wish the delivery drivers would actually do that part of their job. I understand it can be really cold outside, but they need to plan for that and dress warmer. At this point I'd chalk it up to pure laziness. read more

Wow, from looking at the past reviews there is no doubt in my mind that people have no sense of empathy to anyone working here. The U.S. Post Office is doing their very best with the resources at their disposal. When visiting a post office one should keep in mind that their budget is driven by government mandate and is only as good as that. Therefore - what really can be judged here at this location is service - and how was the service? It was nothing but great! I went here to get my passport done. Not only did they promptly pick up the phone when I called for an appointment, they also explained to me I didn't have to go and have my picture taken but that they could take care of it. When I got there, the very nice lady helped me correct a mistake on my application and also explained the next steps to me very thoroughly. I've been to a couple other post offices in the area and never ever have I received this kind of service. What a champ of a lady, a real public hero who wasn't just very nice but also very accommodating and helpful. She also helped with some shipping supplies - and they're well stocked in both stamps and supplies. As far as the line goes - it only moves as quickly as the preparedness of the people in line allows it to. Again - their staffing situation and budget is driven by government mandate - the people here are doing their best with the cards they were handed. Best Post Office in the area - period! read more

Waited in line for an hour then closed on me. I was very upset about the way I was talk to win not being given answers as to why they wouldn't serve me. Will never go back to this post office ever again and I suggest you don't either because it'll be the biggest waste of your time and I don't care about anybody else besides foreigners read more

This is the post office we use for work because it is the closet one. In the past I have had mediocre service at best here. But today took the cake. There were only three people working at the height of lunch time and a line that went out the door into the parking lot. I got there before the mob of people arrived. There were 3 people in front of me and three clerks so I thought in and out in 10 or 15 minutes. OH NO!!!!! The 1st guy couldn't figure out how to void a transaction so he had to call tech support. The 2nd one had a woman with 250 envelopes I heard her say, "I have 250 envelopes to mail and they are catalogs." So clerk 2 had to weight them all and meter them. 3rd clerk walked away. I assume to take lunch. 20 minutes has gone by and I am still in line. The 1st guy is still trying to void a transaction and calls for more help in the back. Not one but two new people come out of the back to stand around him and give suggestions while he is on the phone with tech support. The 2nd one is still stamping catalogs. The 3rd clerk is MIA New 4th and 5th postal people, don't notice there is now a line that stretches out the door and into the parking lot. They don't offer to open another register to help. They just stand there and finally get the 1st clerks transaction to void. They then walk away!!! 1st clerk helps the 3 in front of me. Then me. While 2nd clerk is still stamping and 3rd is still MIA. As I complete my transaction 40 minutes after I get there, several people have just given up and left. Finally a another new clerk finally walks up and opens another window. Unacceptable service. read more

Wow, I always wondered if people really even come here anymore...the answer is yes and they make an annoying long line. I was here to help a friend apply for a passport and actually the clerk was extremely knowledge and helpful. There were a few things that we didn't do right, so she helped us fix it and we were very glad she knew what she was doing. It actually was not too painful. Now I do have to say that in general the service felt slow, it took a long time, like 15 minutes to get through the line and there were only 2 counters open. I'm sure everyone behind us hated us for taking so long. The other clerk was not a people person....at all, so I'm glad that he wasn't helping us. If you do need to do a passport application check their website first for the acceptance times, evidently they don't take these any time they are open. This is a convient location for southeast Olathe I think. They have a drive through lane so you can just need to drop off mail to go out that's already already stamped. The last collection of the day is 5pm which is nice because some other locations it's 3pm. This late collection is helpful if you're cutting it close like me. read more

I watched a substitute mail man today deliver to our neighborhood box but he did not stop at our house to pick up the scheduled boxes I had ready for pick up. No problem! I called our post office, spoke with Alex and within ten minutes the mail man was back and picked up my boxes! I appreciate the great customer service at our Olathe East post office! read more

I just called this post office to find a package with some weird things in the tracking information. Jason was so kind and helpful on the phone, I was so pleasantly surprised when he actually found the package and straightened out the tracking info. Wish I could select zero stars. The manager named Jeremy told me they are not obligated to deliver mail! I have not received my packages at my residence since the covid lock down started. I found out that since the driver does not get paid for her steps this is why my mail is not left at my door. Instead my packages are scanned and left at the branch and the worker says she attempted delivery. She does not attempt deliver, rather leaves a note in the mailroom saying no one was home or no safe place to leave packages. I work from home, so I know she did not attempt delivery at my door. Residents are forced to increase their exposure during the Covid crisis, because we have to go up and wait in line for extended time periods. I have signed up on the post office website to leave my packages at my door and spoken to the staff regarding this issue, but the manager does nothing to remedy the situation, just makes excuses. This branch needs invested by the district manager since the manager is not doing his job and apparently does not care if employees deliver packages. I had to wait on a Saturday for an hour to receive my package and the air condition was not working! One of the employees told me the air condition unit was not working for several days that week. read more
