I am shocked and do not believe that he should be unleashed and let loose to deal with the customers because he has no people skills at all. He should not be the interface between this Post office and the public, rather, place him behind the scenes where he won't be able to cause any trouble. I noticed several other complaints about him on the internet. Today, I went to this Post Office to mail a letter to my granddaughter in Ireland. There were three people in line when a woman passed us by and went directly to Grace who had just arrived at the counter. Grace did not ask her to wait her turn in line, but assisted her. Grace allowed this obnoxious woman to jump/crash the line! When finished, I told the woman, who is walking garbage, that she was supposed to wait in line as everyone else did. When I finally was called to the counter by Andrew, I tried to file a verbal complaint about this matter. He not only would not listen, he actually was nasty to ME for chastising the woman. If Andrew possessed a brain cell, he would be dangerous! DUHHH! I plan to submit this review to several other internet sites so that people are forewarned. read more

I was getting scammed on ebay and they wouldn't tell me the details about a package that was currently being delivered to me. I ended up going to a different usps and not only did they explain to me how my package was a scam they also intercepted it and I was able to refund it to ebay without getting screwed. The guy that works at the Newtown location is literally terrible and got enjoyment out of withholding the simplest information about my package. He said it was "against policy" - which ended up not being true - confirmed by the other usps location who confirmed I had full control of my own package and could prevent it from being delivered with an interception. Avoid this place at all costs, I know I will. Sad clowns work at this one. read more

The United States Postal Service as embodied by the Post Office at 20 Terry Drive in Newtown has provided me and my business with a post office box address, mail and shipping services for several years. I like having a face behind these services as it reassures that someone is taking personal and professional responsibility for making sure everything I send out gets to its destination, and that I receive everything that is sent to me. Yes, FedEx and the others can do a lot of the same things, but there is something very American about having these guys and facilities in the community. Let's hope they figure out a way to stay open and active as part of the American landscape. read more

I usually have a pleasant experience here but the employee today was extremely rude and irritated by me and my questions. I am appalled at Andrew's customer service and how he treated me. Not everyone here is as rude at him but I was very hurt by how he treated me and other customers. read more

We arrived at the Newtown post office at 5:29 today. There were people in line so I took my children out of the car only to have the door literally shut and locked in my face. The woman saying "We close at 5:30." Now, I understand that she was within her right to do this. But as there were already at least four people in line a little flexibility and customer service would have gone a long way. The good news is that it was an excellent teachable moment for my children. We had a long talk about the difference between doing a job well and doing the bare minimum. read more

Delivered a package I shipped from Boston to the wrong address in Newtown. Was told the original address on the package was wrong, then told they delivered it to the wrong street. Been calling every other day and they take my phone number and never call back. Very disappointed in the lack of effort to resolve. read more

No disrespect to anybody however, if you want to stay in business you need to stay up with the times. There is always a line and it is very slow going. However they have made some improvements in order to stay competitive with FedEx and UPS. There is a self service lobby and allows you to do multiple things prior to entering line. I don't fault the post office but the people who hold up the line not being prepared. Everyone who works here is very friendly and patient. Given today's technology I am moving to printing shipping right from my office. You can even custom brand your own stamps labels, etc. Then connect your app and schedule pickups. read more

Its the average post office. I do not like the parking lot. It's small and I dread going here because I am afraid I'll cause an accident.

Like another review that is filtered our carrier stopped delivering our mail without warning. Although the mailbox was not blocked we temporarily had a car parked on the street and the carrier could not drive up to the box but would have to park and walk 3 feet to the box. We didn't notice at first but after 4 or 5 days we realized he wasn't delivering the mail. We called and the postmaster stated it is US post office policy that they cannot exit the vehicle to deliver mail. I asked where I could find this policy and he couldn't tell me. So I looked it up and quickly found Postal Operations Manual section 632.14 which actually states the following: "Where the approach to the mail receptacle located at the curb is temporarily blocked by a parked vehicle during normal delivery hours for the area, or snow or ice hampers the approach to the mailbox, the carrier normally dismounts to make delivery." Sounds pretty reasonable, and pretty different from what the Newtown postmaster claimed. The postmaster also claimed that they left a notice about the box being blocked and mail discontinued but this wasn't true and they only came out and left the notice after we called. The weirdest part of this however was that during our call he made specific reference to moving the car a few feet closer to the tree and other references that made it clear he was looking at photos of our house. The postmaster denied having photos, but we later saw the same letter carrier taking photos of mailboxes he was skipping... So they apparently took the time to photograph the house/car but couldn't take the time to notify us mail was being discontinued? Misrepresenting postal regulations? Lying about photos? All over having to take a few steps to the mailbox? Whatever. read more

Just can't believe that our mail person can't get out of his vehicle to deliver our mail. We had to move our car to the street to accommodate a contractor with heavy machines to park in the drive. When he left my daughter did not get out in time to move the car(she has 3 small children 5 3 and 9months). So no mail and this is not the first time. Anytime we have a visitor that parks on the cul de sac no mail. I have heard the excuses from the post office. Rain, sleet snow okay a parked car no. Just saying. read more

Normally have great experience with the post office however not today. Went to the post office a few days ago to ask whether they would be able to hand stamp my wedding invitations and was told that they would. Today, I had my mother took my wedding invitations here to send and get hand cancelled. The worker first agreed and said he can do it later when there's a little more time. This would have been fine as I understand the post office is busy after lunch on a Thursday. The worker then saw the manager and said that he has time and can do this. The manager proceeded by saying no we don't do this much hand cancelling (it was approximately 100 invitations). Then proceeded to tell my mom she can do it herself if she wanted to but that they would go through a machine anyway. Now I did my research, they do not have to go through a machine. Thinking this was ridiculous, she left the invitations asking the manager how do I know these will all go out. We're hoping that the invitations do get mailed without issue. Not sure I want to use the post office in Newtown again after this experience! Better service at the parcel store in Newtown! read more
