Customer service is attentive, efficient and helpful with my transaction for one postal money order. I did not have any issues. This station is somewhat small for retail space, but it gets the job done for the purpose of my visit. This station is open on Saturdays which is very beneficial to my schedule and needs. I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience when dropping off a package this morning. I am utterly appalled by the treatment I received at the West Village Post Office - 70 West 10th Street and hope proper action is taken for these employees involved. On 3/19, I was waiting outside of the post office as it was not open yet. Several workers impolitely asked me to move over or "get out of the way" so they can enter the building. They promptly locked the door behind them. When a different worker was exiting the building to bring out a cart, she did not lock the door behind her. She did not say anything to me, so I thought - I will wait in the lobby, not inside the post office, as it is 30 degrees outside and it is 9:20AM and the post office opens at 9:30AM. Well, I was wrong. Rather than politely saying excuse me ma'am, we are not open yet, the worker outside with the cart SCREAMED at the top of her lungs to "GET OUT". I asked her why she felt compelled to yell and me and that is not the appropriate way to speak to a customer. She did continued to yell at me so much that a man in a car nearby told me I was right and the post office worker was RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, AND EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. There was absolutely no attempt to communicate politely or explain the situation calmly. No customer, regardless of the circumstance, should ever be subjected to such aggressive and demeaning behavior, especially from representatives of a public service institution. This experience has not only left me feeling mistreated but also deeply concerned about the professional standards and customer service training at the West Village Post Office - 70 West 10th Street. It's clear that a serious review of staff conduct and customer interaction protocols is urgently needed to ensure that no one else has to endure such an unwarranted and humiliating situation. This post office is a big fat joke. I just had a teller yell at me as I was picking out the priority boxes that have a huge FREE sign next to them. I showed her my pre-printed 2 day priority labels to show her I had good reason to be taking 4 boxes. She then proceeded to yell at me about how there aren't any boxes left for other customers. As if they don't have more in the back or their ONE JOB isn't to serve this country as a courier for things like boxes. She was clearly just looking to pick a fight, telling me I needed to order them myself and mind you she had a customer she was "helping" who she yelled over. You'd think as USPS is getting worse and worse they'd at least offer kind help but no they hire angry people who treat customers rude. She continued to yell at me as I left the building and I will be filing a formal complaint. read more

Firstly, they have no automated machines, so if you're expecting that, forget it. Second, the clerk that attended to me was aggressive and pushy under the guise of being helpful. As I started to pack my package up across the room, he told me to come over because I was likely going to do everything all wrong and use the wrong materials. I wanted to take my time, double check addresses, and he ended up rushing me, for absolutely no reason. It was one of the weirdest transactions ever. This post office is the worst. It's a huge facility for a Manhattan business yet there are no self service kiosks or places to drop pre-paid packages/mail. Furthermore every encounter I had with staff has been discouraging. They are rude and not helpful which doesn't make up for the long wait in line. I'm updating my review. With the exception of the one male teller, the women have been rude and nasty. Today I was the only customer there did I interrupt her screen time? I hope this comes through as constructive criticism. I asked for overnight shipping within the hour of their closing and the postal worker made a huge sigh as is if it was inconvenient. Changed it to first class that has a 1 to 3 day shipping and it arrived 7 Days later. this was medical equipment which ultimately left someone in pain for days unnecessarily. Customer Service was clearly never taught to the staff here. Rude and inconsiderate are a few words that come to mind. When the manager was standing right there and asked to help with an issue, she simply walked away and prioritized that she was going on her break rather than assist with the matter, address the issue and actually do her job. It makes sense that the staff all treats customers poorly based on how the manager handles her job. Rather than getting into the absurd detail of the back and forth, here are the highlights: - I was told it was absolutely IMPOSSIBLE that anything could have gone wrong or slipped through the cracks at this location. There was no possible way if there was an issue, it was the fault of any of the staff at this location. - I was told "Too bad, there's nothing you can do." Those are actual words that were used. - I had blame placed on me for my package potentially being lost saying I should have shipped it priority next day express, a service which is $20+ more. Most importantly, the customer service provided by the staff was just pitiful and off-putting. You would've thought I was asking for filet mignon to be delivered via room service while in jail with the lack of respect the staff exemplified. They had no interest in listening, trying or helping. read more

I was treated so poorly Tuesday, July 16th at 11:55am at this post office by Clerk #14 and the Clerk sitting next to her. Neither of them had their name tags on but the woman who helped me had black glasses and the woman sitting next to her had long braids, brown and blonde. I was asking for help and the woman was being extremely rude to me, when I asked her to please stop being so rude, that I was just asking for her help, her and the woman sitting next to her began to berate me with allegations of sarcasm and rudeness. I told them I was not being sarcastic, that I really needed their help because I didnt know how to do the thing I needed done. i said Im here to get help from you because you are here, as a helper at the post office. The woman with the braids said "I AM NOT YOUR HELPER" and I asked what was she if not a helper? She said she was a clerk, and I said that js a helper. Then she proceeded to say "Trump making all these people think they can come in here and talk to me like that". I do not need to tell you how out of line it is for a government employee to say this DESPITE the fact that I do not support Trump. I told her that and she threatened me telling me that "it was her day off and that if she was not in uniform and saw me out on the street..." I said what! you are alluding to violence at which she yelled "oh so you smart now?". Eventually her coworker, Clerk #14, who was "helping" me with my transaction, told her to cool it and she did. But I have never been so insulted in my life. I cannot believe these woman would conduct themselves this way in a government service. The post office is supposed to be a respectful institution that helps people send and receive packages. The office I was at today was not a respectful institution. I will be following up to ensure that someone at this facility is informed of this incident. Another clerk named Yoon helped me with my next transaction and was very kind and professional. The associates who were speaking to me, a customer, this way should be reprimanded. It is extremely unprofessional to speak to a customer this way. To bring up politics and imply I was speaking to her a certain way because of politics is that unprofessional. And to allude to PHYSICALLY FIGHTING ME on the street is UNACCEPTABLE. From now on I will be spending the extra money to use UPS or FEDEX to send packages. read more

Sorry, but I find it way too weird and coincidental that many of my packages I have mailed out from this USPS location did not arrive to their destinations safely. Items I have shipped in completely sealed padded envelopes double taped to the max have gone missing from the envelopes 2 or 3 times. The workers see what I am putting in these envelopes because I ask them to help me find the best envelope for the best price and best way to ship it. They know the contents going in therefore I find it suspicious when the persons these few packages were intended for received an empty package. Also, two years ago some of my wedding invitations never made it to my recipients that were shipped from here that had more than enough stamps and my calligraphers handwriting was completely legible. Recently a postcard I mailed to a friend was never received, and a few months ago my aunt received an envelope that was opened and the birthday card was removed ( there was nothing in the birthday card but confetti but I believe they opened it because they heard something in there.) I do not trust this post office anymore and will only go there to purchase stamps going forward. I do not trust them to send out my letters, envelopes, or packages. I also don't trust dropping any of my things in the mailboxes in close proximity to this post office. I believe one or two of the letters described above were probably dropped off in the mailbox around the corner. I must mention they aren't friendly or accommodating at all. I think this post office should be investigated. Would love to hear if anyone else has had missing items that left from here. read more

Bad customer service skills. They never open even though lines are packed during holiday seasons. I hear them chit chatting in the back and noone comes to open. The worst of the worst. I used to be solidly for the working man, but these guys can make you despise unions, no matter how positive you might feel about your fellow workers. Beyond terrible. Incompetent and liars. Ms. Wood is perhaps the bottom of the barrel. She blatantly refused to take a package that was above 20 pounds and misquoted their rules. When it was patiently explained that we had called the 800-number service to double check this, she replied that they were wrong and she was right. Calls to the USPS Complaint Line were a predictable waste of time and boondoggle. They can do nothing. What's worse, you cannot actually call this post office. Their phone number is *never* answered. I never thought I'd say this, but every time I've visited this location I've left with a big smile on my face! The ladies who I usually see behind the counter aren't the most smiley or overly bubbly people, but they're really nice (if you're nice) and helpful. They've helped me find the right packing materials for gifts I was trying to send and choose fun stamps in addition to the standard things like mailing my packages for me. Though other reviews have lamented the long waits, both times I've gone in the afternoon it's been completely empty. Overall, I seem to be the only person in town who actually likes this location - maybe I just haven't caught the staff on a bad day? read more

I haven't had any really bad experiences here, unlike some of the other reviewers, and this postal substation is not as putrid as Old Chelsea on 18th Street. I've found the zombies working here to be reasonably polite. The problem is that they are s......l......o.....w, and mismanaged to boot. If there's one person on line or if the line is out the door, it doesn't matter. They take their sweet time doing everything, and whoever runs this outfit would never dream of putting on extra staff at busy times during the day. Mind you, I'm not trying to contradict what's been said in the other reviews. I'm sure that these people are perfectly capable of treating their customers as poorly as has been recounted, and those reviews are perfectly credible. read more

This place deserves no stars. After all the years of living in this neighborhood, I dread going here. Mainly because the staff that works there are so nasty and miserable. And they are total clock watchers! Today I was there at 3:30 on a Saturday. Mind you, they close at 4:00. I'm filling out a customs form and the lady working at the counter has the audacity to yell at me to hurry up, they are closing... Yeah like in twenty minutes. The she was complaining because I asked to borrow her pen because all of the pens at the counters were not writing. This place is just the pits. They are not helpful at all. The only person there who is super nice is Ruben- the only male . Its hit or miss on the weekends- he might be there, he might not. Sent parcel full of beautiful items to my little nephew in Australia. On every level of tracking, it landed in Somerset New Jersey 08873 the next day. However, fast forward 2 weeks and my nephew received his presents in Australia. What is the go with the nonsense tracking??? First off - other reviews of this location have mentioned the wait. There is one most times. That's because this place is TINY and usually staffed by only one or two employees. The fact that it's tiny is great for me - it's a small neighborhood hole-in-the-wall with the same two really friendly employees who actually know the regular customers.
