I always come to this post office. Today we encountered a worker who clocked in at 9:30 and by 10:30 she was not taking nobody else because she was taking a 15 minute break. She had about 5-6 people on line. When I walked in she had already stopped the line before a lady, making us three wait. Thank God for good people who were in front of them that they were able to help them. My service was clicking the qr code and giving me a receipt, So it wasn't as easy for them to help me although they felt bad. As a Female we know that if you have to go use the bathroom okay no problem but she said " no this was her break, and wasn't taking nobody else till she came back." How does one clock in and immediately take a break?! This post office either needs to hire more people or have a good long meeting with her about that. As Im standing here people are coming before work, from far, or just because they need one simple thing and have to walk out flabbergasted that she just clocked in and is already on break - is absurd. Frustrated I told her her that I was going to report her because this shouldn't be right. She had her name tag on before she went on break. As i'm standing there I was like " you know what, I dont feel like my package would be safe in her hands so I will proceed to wait and take her name when she comes back and go elsewhere. When she comes back she had taken off her name tag. Kindly asked her for her name 2 times and she ignored me. I then got frustrated and ended up taking a picture. Not sure what type of service this post office is running but honestly I do Not recommend this post office at all as long as she's there. 1 star because that's all i can do but 0 for her customer service and support. read more

I've always had a pleasant experience at this USPS! I'm usually just here to mail out a package or two and the clerk working here have always been nice and patient. When it comes to the USPS, I just want to be in and out and that's exactly the experience I have here. Depending on what time it is, there's a line but sometimes there are none. It's a small local USPS so it's not the most well equipped with all the boxes/equipment you may need to package up whatever you need shipped but if you come prepared and have done your research on the USPS site, it's usually a pretty efficient stop. read more

This USPS gets a lot of flack but they are all hard workers. L. Rotali is incredibly sweet, and was crazy helpful while I struggled to send an international package. Sometimes, there's a line, sometimes there's not. However, it is always a painless wait since everyone at the counters is pretty helpful. Yup, the older Spanish lady again. I've been going to this PO since I was a kid & I always thought she talked way too damn much. She's always arguing or barking at someone. Tried to mail a flat rate envelope ($6.70) and she said the envelope wasn't flat so it was gonna be $12.90 (almost double). I said I thought "flat" referred to the rate not that it literally has to be flat. I stood corrected. Proceeded to explain that I've been sending the same package the same way all last week at this PO, she said "just cause you got away with it doesn't mean that's how it works". Got away with it? Where do I begin? I struggle to find my words as all I can think of are rather uncouth.. Ms.Smith the latin "lady"? No..lets go with canine. Yes, this animal has got to be the WORST clerk in the history of the USPS. She was unbelievably rude,disrespectful and out right aggressive. My cousin and I walk in to this location to mail out some boxes. We arrived 15 minutes to closing, not realizing the time as we had just come from my aunt, her mother's funeral. We were both visibly sadden and this animal starts yelling at us that it's near closing and we should've gotten there much earlier. While we are standing on line! How embarrassing. We were both taken aback and weren't really sure if she was serious or "trying" to be funny..NOTHING FUNNY about this situation. She continues to go off on how fast we should be moving! She was yelling at the top of her pitiful lungs! We try "moving faster" to start the process, don't know exactly what that means but nonetheless we "move faster". My cousin who is a postal worker herself, requests a roll of priority tap, which she thought was free. ( at her office in FL, tape IS FREE). She's given a price. My cousin then says "I wasn't aware you charge for tape, I work at the post office and we do not charge our customers " to which this canine replied/yells " well, why don't you go back to that post office and tell them to GIVE you tape?!! At this point we deduce that Ms. Smith is unhinged and we step away from her window. At no point should anyone be treated with such disrespect by someone who is hired to deal with the public. I can not fathom how she possibly still has a job. Management clearly is not doing their job. Not only was she rude to us but she was incredibly rude to every other customer who approached her window. How is this possible? She is clearly very comfortable yelling and carrying on. This post office was located on Ave B next to the Nuyorican Cafe. While it's pretty small, like most of the other reviews the Post workers are pretty efficient. There are only 3 windows and usually only 2 postal workers manning the windows at a time. they are nice and do generally do a quick job of moving the line. When I headed there around 1pm on a Thursday - there were about 6 people before me. I waited about 15-20mins to get up to the window. Once there I just had to mail a large envelope and it was really quick. I appreciate how nice the postal workers are here! When I was leaving the line seemed much longer though. This place is terrible. One piece of advice: if you see more than 4 people in line in front of you, especially any abuelas with old lady carts, literally just turn and walk away. You're better off walking 20 minutes to the post office on 4th Avenue. You'll get your whole transaction done quicker that way, and I am completely serious. I've been stuck here for an hour on the line. There are no machines of any kind so you have to wait in line and then talk to the super grouchy workers. I wish you didn't have to interact with them. This location is small and doesn't have the automated postal machines, but I was pleasantly surprised at the polite window service I received. The gentleman was so nice and helpful that he actually put a smile on my face as I left the post office. They were out of a certain stamp that I wanted and he offered some suggestions of where I could find them rather than just saying they were out. And he was genuine in wishing me a nice day when I left the window. This was my first visit and maybe I just lucked out with this guy, but so far, so good. read more

Though the PO is small, it works in an orderly way. (at least when I visited there, and it was about 2:00 P.M. at weekdays. ) Just one person was in line in front of me. Yup, I'm reviewing a post office. And yup, believe all the reviews, because they are THAT bad. Actually, I won't say "they," as I've had a decent experience with the other clerks. However there is a hispanic clerk whose name tag reads "Ms. Smith" who is an absolute witch. She is so beyond rude and unprofessional that it's actually quite amazing that such people are able to retain a job. Really shows there is no vetting process in hiring for these jobs and there are absolutely zero consequences for being a terrible, nasty employee. That's probably why she is so horrible, because she gets away with her disgusting attitude. Post offices are inefficient places overall, so I won't bother saying much about that, but this is something that is totally fixable. I went with two packages to send. Ms. Smith said essentially nothing to me the entire time. Not how I want to send it (of the fifty different rates they charge) or anything. She is nearing completing the transaction and slapping stickers on my packages when I ask if tracking is included. No response. I guess she didn't hear me, again, is tracking included? No response, just going about the transaction. I'm truly confused at this point, can she not hear me? She wouldn't be ignoring me purposefully now, would she? So I kept asking and was about to knock on the window when she finally answered when I asked the fourth or fifth time "Don't you see me putting these bar codes on?" To which I reply, "Yes, so? I don't know what those bar codes are for, pricing, tracking? So is tracking included?" She says nastily, "Bar codes always mean tracking, have you never sent a package before?" At this point, I'm like nope, not going to take her shitty attitude, I said "No, I don't work at the post office for a living. It won't kill you to answer a basic question for a customer. It's your job to do so actually. If you hate your job so much, don't take it out on the people who come here. It would be better on everyone if people like you quit." We argued back and forth, I told her she had a nasty attitude, and miraculously my packages still managed to get to where they were intended. But wow, what an unnecessary exchange. I'm glad I gave her a piece of my mind though, because she quite obviously does this often and probably doesn't get the push back she deserves from unsuspecting customers who leave befuddled at what died in her ass to make her this cranky. The next time I came, she called me to her window, and I blatantly said NOPE, I'll wait for the other guy. I definitely filled out the survey listed on the receipt and named her specifically to complain about her, which I highly encourage you all to do as well. Can't believe my tax dollars are subsidizing the salary for her nasty, despicable self. read more

Reading these reviews is like YUP, YUP, YUP. The mean Spanish lady is just insanely, cartoonishly mean. On a good day, she doesn't talk to you at all, and only scowls. On a bad day, she literally hollers at customers. Today was a bad day. A young dude in line was being polite and wanted to be sure I wasn't in front of him, and I urged him to go ahead, and in the maybe 6 seconds this interaction took, she started SCREAMING at him to MOVE IT. After the additional .7 second it took to get to her window, he said quietly to her, "I was trying to be gracious. I guess being gracious doesn't matter here." And she barked, "YOU NEEDED TO HURRY UP." And then she kept yelling at him! As other people have noted, in addition to her all-consuming, oxygen-sucking, metaphorical-(I-hope)-kitten-killing horribleness, a problem is that there are usually only two clerks working; the office is old and dirty; and it is not so fragrant. (A woman in line today mentioned that she usually goes to the office on 11th street and 4th avenue when she has time -- as do I -- and a clerk there told her she lives literally next door to this post office but is so afraid of the mean lady, she never, ever comes here. HOW SCARY ARE YOU WHEN YOU SCARE OTHER POSTAL WORKERS??) Mr. Rotali, the staffer others have mentioned as the sole bright spot, is all that saves this review from one-stardom. He's gruff but funny, sweet, quick and competent. God help us all when he retires. read more

I see all these reviews about the "wonderful staff" at this place and can't help but wonder who these people have been dealing with. This is unfortunately my local post office and it makes the 23rd st, Clinton street, Cooper square and even E14th street feel like a vacation. I am not a violent person but the guy behind the counter always returns my overly understanding and friendly greeting as well as super postoffice pre prep with such venom that I really want to hit him. There is a reason they have that plexi at this location. Save yourself the stress of the surly guy behind the counter and walk the extra distance to cooper square. read more

its very clear for my dislike for the usps but sometimes i will deal with a clerk who will change my mind for the better and miss d was that clerk . i stopped by this east village run down post office to ship a international letter package and the self service machines only do domestic and lucky me the line is short and moving briskly and it does not hurt that 4 windows are open for quicker customer service . finally its my turn and miss d was awesome as she explained all my mailing options and lucky for me i filled the custom form correctly so the process was less then 10 minutes . this postal branch seems well organized and all the free forms and supplies you need are available and easy to find . i really cant believe i am giving usps 4 stars but praise must be given when its warranted .p.s. avoid the Spanish lady clerk as she is the worst as I witness her insulting every customer who had the displeasure of going to her window and that's the main reason for the many bad reviews . read more

Ms. Smith, one of the postal workers at this location, is a piece of work! Ms. Smith has an attitude with a condescending demeanor and lacks people skills. The Post Office should send Ms. Smith to a class to teach her how to properly deal with customers. 10 of the reviews on Yelp mention Ms. Smith as being the worst postal worker. The Post Office asks the customers to comment on their postal experience. But then again, why bother to comment if the Post Office doesn't do anything about it. Mr. Rotali (sp?) is listed as clerk 04 on my register receipt. I told him my business envelope contained photos. He told me to buy a padded envelope. I said the photos were backed with foam core so my envelope was probably okay. So he picked up the packet of photos and bent them, right in front of me. I asked him not to and he said he had to and he had to charge me for a parcel, $2.07. And for the return envelope, if I included the foam board it would be the same. I asked him to let him show him the contents. He said he didn't need to see it. I said I didn't expect the people on the other end would bother to find and use the foam board. I took the foam board off and showed him that it was 4 small paintings on Metro cards (for a Metro card show). He picked them up and BENT THEM AGAIN. I asked him why he was doing that when I'd asked him not to and he said if I knew someone who could do a better job I should take them there. If the USPS is in financial trouble I don't think you want this guy working for you. There is one postal employee there who is quit nice. He has a shaved head and he's a joy.
