They don't care about properly doing their job and they don't care about your mail/packages making it to you to make this very simple. If you're expecting them to change anything about their service or how they run things, you're only going to upset yourself. Complaints get buried, notes do not get left on the door, and doors do not get knocked on. Especially on Fridays and saturdays. I just so happened to be in front of my building when they said they attempted delivery and they in fact never even came to the building door let alone the apartment door. Whoever "attempted delivery" had actually never stepped out of the truck. Try to order things using FedEx or UPS when you can. read more

I really like this post office branch and never have a problem with it. Sure, you have to wait sometimes, but it's not always busy, and when it is it's not horrendous. Sometimes it's even kind of peaceful. All of the staff that I've experienced and witnessed have been helpful and patient, especially given how high strung and pressed for time people visiting the post office can be. This also goes for all the USPS workers in the area that I've come into contact with over the past 4 years. They have all been very helpful, thoughtful and kind. Really appreciate this service overall and all of the people involved in making it operate efficiently. read more

4 years later and this post office is literally the worst simply because of the bitchass manager who has no professional customer service and sounds like a hood rat when speaking and the one specific mailman who has been delivering and lying about delivering packages for years now who is an older white man that has always been terrible at his job and yet he still is employed and idk how. On numberous occasions has made it seem like he delivered packages which he never has and multiple of my packages have gone missing after he stated he "delivered it"!!!!!! He is very rude and unprofessional. I even caught him sitting in my laundry room of my PRIVATE BUILDING eating his lunch like owned the place. I'm not one to pile on to bad reviews, and this is the USPS after all so not exactly a bombshell, but wow this branch is bad. When I got to the window the woman serving me leans over and lets out a long slow drool of spit as I'm talking - hopefully it went into a trash bin and not on the floor! Then when I tell her I asked for redelivery of a package and have been waiting 3 days, she just starts laughing. As I'm waiting for her to return with my package, I notice an elderly lady with a walker who was there when I came in, apparently waiting for something. Finally as I'm leaving some guy shuffles out with a key so she can use the elevator lift to get down the short flight of stairs. From her loud sighs it's seems she was waiting a while. They need to put this Post Office out of its misery. They can not even get mail into your mailbox - it ends up on the floor of the lobby, in someone else's mailbox, or disappears entirely. They removed the blue mailbox that was outside! Now you can't even MAIL A LETTER anymore! WOW! I tried to do a Change of Address at this branch. Hahahaha - that was funny. Submitted it twice, never happened. My wife and I both have had packages just disappear recently. Where did they go? "Probably in someone else's mailbox." - actual quote from an employee at this branch. So unbelievably, and shamelessly inept and pathetic. After sending a complaint through USPS.com about the never-ending delivery of the mail of the previous tenants to what's supposed to be my new mailbox - despite me having followed their website's instructions to write "no longer at this address" on each piece of mail and putting it back into circulation - I received a voicemail message from 212-267-1543, a.k.a. Knickerbocker Post Office, yesterday explaining that I need to call my local post office here in Texas to initiate the rerouting of someone else's mail. I was given my local post office's location/name and phone number. Sheesh. Stalk much, Knickerbocker? I mean, seriously, how was this branch tasked to deal with my issue? As I suggested in my follow-up complaint to USPS' "how'd we do?" follow-up survey (or whatever it's called), a better idea might be for me to mosey over to my local post office here in Texas wearing cowboy boots and a ten-gallon hat with "tobacky" in my jaw and a toothpick in my mouth to get things done. They hire these illiterate people to deliver our mail. Mail was delivered to wrong address from 2 blocks away. Mail from out of state and sometimes the carrier would just stuff all the mail into someone's mailbox. You can call and file complaint all you want, but it is just a waste of time. This USPS location is beyond any sane understanding of what a USPS should be. Employees are completely and utterly incapable of doing their job, and absolutely do not care even a bit. The postal workers tasked with delivering from this location deliver to my address roughly once per week. There is not mail everyday, there are packages NEVER. Anytime I expect a package I actually expect to just receive a notice saying "we missed you" even when I personally see them enter my building. They do not carry the package with them. They do not update the tracking to let you know they've left your package behind. They are huge assholes to you when you show up in person to claim your undelivered package. The 1 star is for the automatic machine that has recently been placed in the lobby, which is a literal gift from above. USPS would save a lot of money and improve the lives of people that unfortunately live in this area if all the staff were fired and replaced with like 1 more machine. read more

Slightly better then your average Post Office. Still never enough people who work in it but at least I find it's not as busy with people during the week so the wait times aren't too crazy. At least the machine for stamps and other items is always working if you want to get in and out and not ship something. Aside from that I always go to the teller to ship because the machines never get it right and rip you off in my opinion. Close to the subway as well so it's convenient if you are coming from elsewhere. Good location that is close to Chinatown. read more

Worse experience I can think of. NEVER deliver packages, always leave non-existent failure to deliver notices. I have waited at home multiple times, specifically waiting for package deliveries. To only find out that delivery attempt was made, no one was home....what?! I am convinced that the packages arrive at their facility and no delivery attempts are ever made to residential locations. Note the mounds of packages waiting to be retrieved at their pick up window. While we are on that topic, the clueless window clerks cannot either locate your package and ask you to come back, after waiting a half hour in line or, if you are lucky, you will wait an additional 10-15 minutes while they retrieve your package. No problems with UPS and Fedex making deliveries to my location. This specific useless USPS location, makes me hopeful of one day seeing the privatization of USPS. read more

Cantos rock! I came here as having some time to kill before Canto class in hopes of sending a letter to Canada, yet dismayed for an eye sore of a line on a Saturday morning. However, a postal employee inquired clients on a one-by-one basis (both in Canto and English) on line if we needed anything particular that require window service. I responded (in Canto) that I was going to send a letter to Canada which I need to obtain the exact postage fee without a bounce-back for "insufficient postage." The postal employee instructed me to continue to wait on line while ushering other clients to utilize the auto-machines for simple transactions thus lessing the line's length! I rate this location four stars as the inside of the building is very dated to the 1960's or 1970's era and needs major comestic structural changes. The postal window clerks need an attitude adjustment as they are abrasive and yet bluntly abrupt to shoo clients quickly away with a "yes or no" response, thus four stars. read more

This is one of the worst post office. Unfortunately, this is my local post office. These are the most unpleasant and incompetent postal workers. I'm not sure if they have security in government jobs or this branch is not performance reviewed ever. They don't deliver any packages, what they do is they make you pick it up from the post office instead. They routinely put my mail in the wrong mailbox. So given that expectations should be tempered when interacting with any Federal agency, I'm grading this East Broadway post office on a curve. Yes, it's drab and depressing. Literally the worst place in the world. Wonder why there are always so many people in the package pickup line? It's because only a handful, if that, of their employees are actually capable of doing their jobs. They send their senior citizen mail carriers out who are too lazy and useless to even ATTEMPT to deliver a package. I've seen drivers in my lobby with a stack of packages, but instead of getting on the elevator, they stand by the mailboxes and write up a handful of slips because taking an elevator is too god damn hard. If the USPS went out of business, the whole world would be better off, since they're clearly incapable of hiring competent workers and managing their budget. I have never written a bad review on Yelp, I usually only write positive reviews recommending places that I think others will appreciate/enjoy. However, I will make an exception for this establishment. Every single time I have supposedly 'missed' a delivery attempt from USPS I have not only been home, but waiting for the package to deliver. I then go downstairs and find that I have been left a slip in my mailbox telling me I missed my delivery and I have to collect the package myself. When I attempt to pick up my package the staff are always incredibly rude and unhelpful, and it's almost like you are an inconvenience for requesting that they find your package. The one star is for the one and only time they found my package without issue. I missed a delivery attempt on the 21st of November and I went to collect my parcel today (November 28th) and I was told that they couldn't find my package and that the tracking number was wrong (the tracking number that they gave me on the slip they left me??), and thus it probably wasn't here and that it was probably sent back to the distributor in Ireland. I am supposed to have a 15 DAY window to collect any parcels, why would they send it back after one failed delivery attempt? And why would they ship it back to Ireland?? I had spoken to the company that sent me the package and they said that 1.) the tracking number matched her documents that 2.) an attempt had been made and that it should have been held at the post office. I am still without my package and I have spent all afternoon calling them, but to no avail. Once again, a highly unpleasant experience and terrible, terrible customer service. I have been here to retrieve packages and that's been fine, the lady at the package retrieval window is very nice. However, there is somebody absolutely nasty working at the window to send packages. It doesn't help that nothing is labeled. The Express and Priority mail boxes/envelopes/slips are all mixed together and it's hard to tell what's what. The prices aren't listed like they should be. The first time I went through the line I had an express mail slip and a priority box. My bad. She barked at me to pick one, put my gift in a box and get back in line. Strike one. I chose the priority because I know from experience that it's cheaper. I folded the box, addressed it. No tape. Got back in line. Apparently you have to BUY tape. $3.29 for a roll of packing tape. Ok. That's fine. Then she BARKS at me again to get out of line. I had the box halfway sealed, it would've taken me 10 more seconds and there were other windows open and not much of a line. Strike two. As I sulk off saying how ridiculous this is, she starts mocking ME for complaining. Strike three. I'm not complaining about having to get out of line or having to pay for tape (which is ridiculous.... I've never had to do that before in similar situations at other post offices), I'm complaining about being barked at. This isn't the soup nazi! read more

If I could give this post office 0 stars I would. Every single time I've been here to pickup a package its never been a quick experience. There are always 6 or more people on line waiting to pickup a package, every single time, so do not come in here if you are on lunch break. I echo the reviews from people upset by waiting home all day for a package that's 'out for delivery' all day. Around 8pm the status changes to 'delivery attempted.' Usually stating it was attempted around 3pm and that a slip was left. All lies. I have to reschedule delivery on the USPS website based on the tracking number I have from the sender. Last week I was yelled at by the postal employee who finally delivered the package to my door because I didn't meet him halfway down the stairs.
