I go here purely for convenience as they are the only post office in the area open until 5:30 on weekdays. One star for that and another star for the spacious parking lot. The one postal worker, who is just downright rude, ruins it for any additional stars. She is dismissive, shouts instructions at those in line and has an overall unpleasant disposition. I'm not sure if she hates her job or has mental health issues, but her tone is uncalled for. Most customers stand in line looking shocked, petrified or about to cry because of the way she speaks. read more

Drivers lost my package, couldn't retrieve it, and then told me I got to file claims and refunds with out assistance and maybe I will get refund. Claims do not work on mobile device(error code) so the local post office said go to a library or use somebody else computer. Customer support and technical support are useless. They will keep redirecting you until the automated machine times out and hangs up on you. Never ordering an item going through USPS ever again. UPS and Amazon are both better choices for CT. read more

I went too the Amity station two weeks ago ago and had a package with a call tag but the guy behind the counter said that I needed to go somewhere else that I needed a QR code instead of a barcode that he couldn't help I new it was wrong but I ended up going to FedEx instead as I had a call though them anyway so I paid 25 dollars to send the postal package out by FedEx I will never go back to that dirty post again gross not friendly or willing to help Ron Zwick 203:903:6167 Bethany Conn 06524 read more

They do not answer their telephone, period, ever. They're the only location in Connecticut that does fingerprinting, but their online hours for this service are incorrect. You have to just drive there and cross your fingers, which hasn't worked out for me yet, +1 hour drive each way. The front desk staff do not care about answering the phone, providing useful information, or anything it seems. Their response to any and all questions are idk and look at the next customer in line as if to say "walk away now lady", when I was inquiring about the hours of their fingerprinting. Idk.. idk.. idk.. to every question I asked, "does the fingerprinter call out a lot?" "What are the hours?" "Is there a phone number that DOES get answered so I can call before driving an hour again to find out he guys not here?" One star for the line going quickly I guess.... read more

Love their on-line app, good for viewing your daily deliveries, especially if you live in an apartment complex.

WISH THEY WOULD CLOSE THIS OFFICE , No help no service no supervisiors i had issues with pick up and postal delivery they could care less read more

Great service, found my package before it was mistakenly returned to sender! I was so grateful that they took the time to look.

The people that work here are nice, but we made an appointment for a passport and were told that the passport person was not there on Saturdays. When we made the appointment, the website did not inform us of this! They told us that all other post offices should do walk-ins, so we tried another one that they specifically recommended for us. Guess what? They did not let us do a walk-in. By the way, this review was written by Alice Neitzke, who is 11 years old. read more

My wife and I went to this Post Office because it controls the monies for the Post Office boxes located on Chapel Street across from Elm City Market. If one wants to cancel their PO Box, they must go to Brewery Street. Here's the catch: to get your deposit back on your PO Box key and/or the time left on your term (no less than one-half of your term), one must fill out a form. Once they have the form, the Post Office will issue a Money Order for the exact amount which the Post Office then cashes, and then hands you the cash. The problem: the Post Office is the entity supplying the Money Orders and when they don't have any (which is the usual case) you cannot get paid. We were told, try coming back in a couple of weeks. Since Yale Station never has any Money Orders either (not that that helps us here) no Money Orders seems to be SOP. read more

I received a certified letter on Monday July 18th. It was left in my mailbox which I did not sign for. The mailman never knocked on my door to have me sign for it. I called my payroll company to let them know that I did not sign for it and it was left in my mailbox. Was the mail carrier afraid to pull up to my house and walk to my door in the rain?? It is against the law for a mail carrier to sign for your letter or package if it is certified mail. I will be reporting this to the fraud company. Get your mail carriers to do their job correctly. read more

The two stars are for all the good customer service from the floater, the Indian man, the Caucasian women with blond hair, the black guy (sorry I don't know their names). They are all great! The horrible brown skinned woman who wears broom bristles as eye lashes, plays loud music, cuts her eyes at customers and shoots them dirty looks upon entry is a disgrace to the USPS!!! She is an unprofessional horror and extremely unpleasant, as she makes sublimal comments about customers in earshot distance. Supervisor, please provide this woman with some professional guidance and supervision. She has caused your location to lose 2 stars...1 more star is lost from the incredibly long exasperating line read more

Why does the post office conduct postal services and passport services at the same windows? This process causes long lines and frustration. Clerks are always friendly, and it helps since by the time you get to the window your feet hurt, and crankiness takes over your mind. It would help if there were a Passports only counter separate from postal services. Let's hope for some improvements as the holiday season approaches. read more

Nicely staffed post office with a terrible parking lot! I was very surprised that given the location of this PO it wasn't far more populated...this PO is one of the main hubs in the state and I have to say, personnel there was very pleasant. Building itself is a little dated but regardless they get the job done! read more

They really need to work on their customer service. Some of them really don't know how to talk to customer. They are rude. They talk to customer as is if they are yelling, too bad. read more

Instead of delivering a package, you delivered a slip. Instead of printing your hours on it, you oddly printed only part of them. Instead of picking up your phone, you didn't. Instead of seeing customers quickly, you saw them slowly. Instead of re-delivering when you promised, you, for all I know, played Xbox. For these sins, you get one star and insolvency. read more

I received a damaged note from USPS that they couldn't deliver a package. Bar code didn't work online to redirect delivery. I was literally on hold over an hour, almost 80 minutes before I hung up. (they said 20-30) I can't say I'm very pleased. read more

We all hate standing in line, low qualified stuff, and customer service etc. And you won't avoid it here by default, because these are normal practices of USPS projected from their ultra low cost (reads as "cheap") policies. Employment conditions, work conditions, lack of quality training and general abscence of motivation do not promise decent customer experience, that's simple and I wouldn't be a realist expecting any better. So, why 4 stars? Here is why: 1. Location. 5 minutes from downtown New Haven, easy access by car, free parking. Bad public transportation access. It brings 4/5 for location. 2. Space and design. Design is OK, USPS did a decent job with rebranding. Space is roomy and generally clean. Some parts are worn, but no ugliness or noticeable dirt. No comfort. Overall 3.5/5. 3. Quality of product/service. I had no problem with delivery or sending packages from here. International shipping with EMS works fine. Shipping supplies quality is really high. Domestic Priority delivery is very good. Speed of delivery could sometimes be better, but even in economy class It is just fine. Reliability of this office is good, but one I got an issue with recipients USPS PO (damaged pakage). Yet it wascovetedby insurance. My personal favourites are 24h machine and self-service kiosk, which saved me tons of day time on after hours drop-off. Overall 4/5 here. 4. Value. It is the cheapest shipping and post service in US for small and medium sized packages. I use other providers for heavy or bulky packages, because they are more convenient. 5 4.5/5 here. Custoner service. They do have all sorts of issues. However, simple kindness, politeness and clear requests preserve me from facing most of them. 3/5 Overall 4/5. read more

The best post office in New Haven! The service is prompt, well put together, and courteous. I really enjoy the friendly attitudes of the staff, and the willingness to make sure you get your package. I was traveling once and missed a delivery, just by calling in it was easy to have the package held for me without any issues. I would recommend this post office to anyone who is in new Haven and wants a quality mailing experience. read more

The most horrible mail service in America is right here in New Haven. Don't expect it to be delivered on time or at all. The mark the packages as delivered to satisfy Amazon and you won't actually get the package for another 4 days. read more

I had an issue where my mail was not arriving and being incorrectly returned to sender. The team at the post office was friendly and quick to resolve the issue. Wanda followed up with me that night (after retail hours on a Friday!) to confirm she spoke with the carrier to resolve the problem. Very pleased with the service! read more

By far the absolute worst customer service I have ever recieved. Each person is more incompetent than the next. By the time I had to talk to a supervisor I could fully understand why people go postal. Being surrounded by so much stupid at once will make you go crazy. Changed address in October of 2018 STILL WAITING ! Went to local post office 2 weeks ago was told supervisor would call me, STILL WAITING !! Worthless. read more

The best experience I have ever had at a post office! Plenty of parking outside and when I went in the line wasn't that long. I was there to renew my passport and the post office lady was so helpful. From taking my picture to telling me the fees and what form to fill out, she made the whole process a lot less stressful. If you need go to a post office, go to this one! read more

The better of the post office alternatives in the New Haven area. More registers, space, and generally more competent and polite staff than the other locations (some of the workers are downright nice, I promise). There's an automated postal machine available 24h/day in case you are feeling antisocial. Also opens earlier than other locations. Free parking is nice, since you might be there for a while -- it's a post office, after all. Avoid Saturday mornings if you can: lots more people and passport applications! read more

Came in to get mail on hold. Attendee at the kiosk was very loud and rude asking why I have my mail on hold as if it mattered. Only to call a supervisor. Not one person was friendly. I understand it's summer and you hate your job but please remember you represent the company as a whole. This is a federal facility not Walmart. Horrible, horrible..never got my mail They claim I don't have a hold request yet I have a whole confirmation number in the email I got from the post office. I have a package with a tracking number and they claim they never got it. Just a messsssssss I'm so pissed read more

I like this post office primarily because they have a nice self-service kiosk right when you walk in the door. I usually don't need to go to the counter, just have a weird envelope or small package to send and these kiosks are perfect for that. If you need to send something out quick that does't need anything special, this is your place! I also prefer just coming to the post office than some other places in town because there is FREE and easy parking while you pop in and do your postal business **score**. Please note, I interacted with exactly zero humans while I posted my mail & it was glorious. read more

If this is the best post office in New Haven, God help you guys. I had sent a 2-day priority mail envelope from Oakland, CA to a financial institution with a PO box in New Haven that was due to be delivered on 3/3/2016. After no deposit credited, I tracked the package and it was at this post office and had not moved. After playing telephone tag with lots of unattended or dead lines, I finally got a live person who stated that the package was sent to the wrong post office and was on it's way back to the sorting facility to be delivered to the correct post office, as well as telling me that this was the incorrect post office and Higher One's box was at the other. I called the other and they told me Higher One's box is at Brewery Street. All I know is that my husband's check is floating around New Haven and I cannot pay bills or buy groceries or gas or even get updated tracking information. Case #CA127441555 read more

Worst service I have ever experienced. Not only had I already waited in line for more than 15min; the attendant that assisted in my transaction was incredibly rude. Now two weeks later I have learned that the package that was dropped off and scanned was not shipped until 9 days after I dropped it off . I have made numerous attempts to speak with a manager at this facility but the phone number listed has not set up a voicemail. I would strongly suggest making the drive to a different USPS location if you are interested in your packages safely arriving to their destination. read more

Very rude and unprofessional workers at this facility. I honestly don't know how they still have jobs. Customer service is obviously not an area of expertise there. They get an attitude about doing task that are clearly a part of there job. They misplaced my package and then tried to blame me. smh Just ridiculous. read more
