I stopped at this UPS Store to drop off a small Amazon return -- the box wasn't even 4 inches long. The woman behind the counter told me I'd need to tape it myself next time, which I appreciated hearing. But then she insisted I had to buy an entire roll of tape for $4.99 because "they don't have any tape." Clearly, they did -- I could see it right behind the counter. I explained that I'm currently out of work and just needed six inches of tape to seal the box, but she didn't care. I've never experienced such a lack of basic kindness or customer service over something so small. UPS should train staff to show a little compassion, especially for people just trying to make a simple return. I left feeling disrespected and taken advantage of , all over a few inches of tape. read more

Do NOT use their mailbox service. The staff misplaced my packages and then did not believe me that I hadn't already picked them up. They did everything they could to get me to just leave and only when I wouldn't did they actually look for them and then sure enough there they were. It's one thing to operate a disorganized business. It's quite another to fail to own up to your own mistakes and instead call your customer a liar. read more

I shipped a package home from this location, only to arrive at home and realize that an item I thought I had sent back was not in the package. I turned my house upside down looking for the item, and realized that the error must have happened at this shipping location--which was true. I called the location, described the item, and sure enough, they found it, still sitting in their packing area. I will say they were kind enough to ship it to me, but this should not have happened in the first place??? Went to this store to have an item returned to Amazon and was told that it would cost $5.31 for them to copy the return label. Amazon's site states that "The UPS store will pack, label and ship your return for free." "You do not need to package your return or print a shipping label". This store does not honor that! On a separate occasion I took a package to this store asking that it be returned to the sender because I was refusing the delivery. The older man in the store stated he could not do it/did not know what to do with it. I explained the process to him. Although he took the package, he apparently did not indicate that the box should be returned to the sender. So, the next day the box was at my door. I drove to the UPS store in Orange and the rep there took the box, labeled it appropriately and the process took about two minutes. No problem and no pretense of ignorance in Orange. read more

The female "manager" just reluctantly low screamed at me: this is for the packing fee, you can not see the breakdown. IT WILL COME OUT AFTER YOU PAID. Then I asked her a question, why can't I see the breakdown? why did the guy not want to tell me the cost of the "packing fee" when the guy "volunteered" to move my box into your own box? She screamed louder: You wanna ship or not? we can open these boxes and you can take your package away. Yeah, 50 dollars for 2 boxes without proper consent. If you have any questions, then GTFO Be really really careful about this store, and let the words spread. Scammed - I bought three rolls of bubble wrap, put them in my car, and then returned them a few days later without opening any of them (ended up not needing them after all). Clerk accused me of having somehow trimmed a foot off of one end of a roll then re-sealed it, then screamed at me like an insane person until I left the store. They assemble the bubble wrap rolls by hand; obviously this woman just screwed up and sold me a short roll (which is a problem in its own right), then was either too embarrassed to admit it or just angry I caught her stupid scam. When I went bank to find out where my package was they had no idea and did not help me try and find it. They gave me the phone number to the UPS hub in orange and told me to call. Where is the customer service? You go to UPS to have important items sent quickly. This package had vital federal docs. I will never use this location again nor UPS. I love the staff here. I am not sure if she is the owner or one of the owners, but the woman (or young woman) who takes lead with most transactions is great! She has an upbeat personality, she is knowledgeable about every transaction that I've seen, and she fixes/troubleshoots any issues that are going on in the store. The only problem is that there are staff in the store who hold-up lines by ringing up/processing transactions very slowly. I have visited this location for many months now and I've seen these staff here and they don't seem to get a handle on things. Either they are also in ownership of the location or they are family members, because they should have been let go by now... otherwise this location would be running much more smoothly (and I'd give it a 5)! read more

At the end of the day you do not seperate the money you make according the the race of your customers. It is all GREEN! This store is terrible! They charged me for a service that wasn't correct. Someone didn't log out of their computer system that charges you based on time. I explained to them multiple times that I was only there for a few minutes and not the posted time on the receipt. They proceeded to say that they gave me a discount in which seemed a bit odd because I ended paying almost double the amount that he originally stated to me! I purchased a P.O. Box for a year and the service is seamless. They are super accommodating of my many large packages and are very helpful if I need to ship things. They are honest about their rates and will tell you if it's cheaper to ship with the post office. Very friendly customer service and I will be a client as long as I reside near new haven. read more

This place is above average in many respects, and I desperately want to like it, but it just falls down in so many other ways that I find myself wondering why I'm using them again, sometimes. I've shipped thousands of dollars worth of dry ice shipments from UPS and FedEx stores all over the country and this is the only one where they positively insist on tearing my package open to inspect the dry ice amount, compromising the contents, and then want to charge me for resealing it. I know the dry ice limits and other shipping regulations better than they do, as evidenced by the fact that 3x now they've kept me waiting 15+ minutes to inquire about standard shipping items on a hotline as opposed to looking at the FAA website or other up to date resources. Every time I come in it's the same song and dance. It's also hard to believe they don't send these items regularly. There's no institutional memory here, and many of the younger employees aren't comfortable doing simple shipments. They often favor older male customers who are being difficult over other patrons who are waiting patiently and being decent - I've seen them lose business this way twice. This place is okay for what they do. Expect a wait, inconsistent service, and some frustration in dealing with them. Still, all of my packages have gotten through. read more

I paid an extra dollar for a shipping label to return an item from Amazon because my printer was down. I was told on Amazon that I could simply show them the scan image in my phone and UPS would take care of it. First I went to the UPS counter in the Staples store in Middletown. They told me I would have to go to an "actual" UPS store. OK. So I happen to work near the UPS headquarters in North Haven. Would you believe that was also NOT a UPS "store???" Here I am doing a google search on UPS store locations in CT. What a REALLY stupid deal they have going. Forget about the wasted gas.. It would have been cheaper to send it via USPS! Spend a great deal of time in here either shipping or picking up packages. Workers are great, nice, and very hard working particularly the wife/co-owner and a young man who seems to really enjoy his job. Free parking is a huge deal in the police state that New Haven is relative to parking. Yes, sometimes you have to wait because they can get busy yet more often than not the delay is a result of ill prepared and or simply inconsiderate customers who arrive with just an address and a ripped open package and expect magic to happen without delay and without additional cost. It's behavior that would get you thrown out of the USPS and yet this place, while certainly being a business, does everything possible to not inflict additional charges if it can. I have to say that every time I've had to use this UPS store I've gotten great service. I've shipped personally owned musical equipment of from hundreds to thousands of dollars worth and recently a Sony Professional camera worth 20K. The waits have been reasonable and the patient, thorough, knowledgeable, and friendly service they have provided has been a tremendous comfort when so much of your personal resources are on the line. Most recently, Mr. Singh took a great deal of time investing attention to my parcel resulting in the very secure and timely delivery of very valuable and fragile items. I can see that others have rated the store differently, but there reviews are completely inconsistent with my experience. I have always received competent and thoughtful service here otherwise I would go elsewhere! I trust these people and they have shown me nothing but consistent kindness and efficiency.
