The only reason that I rated this store with 2 stars instead of 1, is that the employee who I initially interacted with was courteous and professional. However, the employee that I had to deal with to get a refund on a package that was delivered late was rude and dismissive. So rude that when I returned to the store to get proof that a claim was filed, he threw the paper on the counter, walked past me, and never spoke a word to me. Local management couldn't be bothered to respond when I filed a complaint. And the corporate response simply said that a claim was filed appropriately. Earlier last year I brought in something I wanted to ship and didn't have a box so I asked if I could purchase on there. The guy helping me went in the back to grab one. Absolute garbage business. I stood in a line 15 people deep for half an hour while two employees moved like they were working in half-hardened cement. Finally got to the front of the line and the rudest old man informed I would be charged $3 to send them an email with my label information in it. $3 to send a free email? Ridiculous. There was a 18 minute wait in line (so many people making returns post Prime Day) and the notary service was scheduled to close in 20 minutes. I had called ahead to check the time. The 3 employees worked efficiently and were very friendly. They notarized my form even though it was past 2pm, and were apologetic for the wait. I will return for good service. read more

I rarely need to send items larger than a letter. I take advantage of the boxes at the post office but they recently increased in price. I had a Bloomingdales return. Bloomingdales emailed me a label with instructions to either print and someone would pick it up or go to the store. Easy Peasy right? No! The man at the counter always has an attitude. My 3rd visit to the store in the last year. I came in the bell chimes. No service. I clear my throat. Say, "Excuse me?" Nothing. The next customer comes in. Here comes Johnny or whatever his name is. First thing, "Can you put your box on the scale?" No salutation. I could go on but why? Great little shop. Funny cards. Shipping stuff adequate. Customer service could be improved. read more

ZERO STARS! I just returned a rug to this UPS location. I brought it in the same plastic packaging that it was sent to me by Amazon. I have never ever ever had an issue returning anything to Amazon either through UPS or Kohl's. The customer service at this location is horrendous! The lady at this UPS just pushed the rug back at me when I went to return it. I said please do not push the rug at me like that. To which the assistant manager said "it's just a rug ma'am it can't hurt". They would not take it Because it wasn't in a proper box. And then I asked if they had a proper box so I could get rid of it or tape and she said I have to do it at home or pay for boxes. I calmly said this is how Amazon sent it to me so I'm certain they will accept it back in the same packaging. To which the "assistant manager" said they were going to call the cops if I don't leave. I tried calling back to get the young lady's name so I could file a complaint but they kept hanging up on me. Larry... Not sure the customer service you were running over there. I headed to the UPS at Hamden. When I got there a male with glasses, 20s/30s looked like he was locking up but I had a little over than 7 minutes left. So when he opened the door I told him "I still have a few minutes". So I got a large package out of my car and headed to the door. The man, who seemed to be looking down at something in his hands, was standing by the door and although he saw me struggling, did not open the door. (Bad customer service). I proceeded to place package by the door so I can hold it open with my foot. Once I held the door open with my foot, I picked up bulky package and slid it into the door, while employee stood next to door still looking down at his hands. Then I lifted package in front of him, and walked towards a nice African American woman who offered to help me with package. She was behind the register and took care of me immediately. Meanwhile, male employee seem to still be fidgeting with something in his hands ?? I paid the cashier, she told me have a nice day. I told her I was having a nice day until I bumped into that rude employee. As I exited I asked the man if he was the manager he said "why do you want to know?" "Well " I replied, "you saw me struggling with a package at the door, didn't open it and continued looking at something in your hand. That's poor customer service. ". "Whatever, " he said and as I opened the door to exit he replied in a loud voice as he was closing, "please don't ever come back here again!" What?? I never swore or was rude, so I was livid at this point. Had it not been for the kind cashier, I probably would have been a bit more upset. This guy does not deserve to be working there, I know a few people who have also complained about a male, goofy looking man with glasses and is always looking down being rude. I prefer to drive all the way to guilford or mail regularly so that I don't have to confront this person again. read more

Customer service at this UPS store is zero! The front desk store clerk is very unprofessional, unhelpful and rude. It was supposed to be a simple parcel drop off but I ended up spending close to 20mins because the store clerk remained on the cordless phone and walked away from the counter without acknowledging that customers were queued up and waiting. Only to comeback without an apology but with bad attitude. And one last thing, he tried to charge me $20 to tape the package that came in 2 pieces (a pair) from Amazon together. Because Amazon only issued one return ticket for the item and when I refused he sold me a tape for $10 to tape the pair together before he will accept the return package. read more

The young gentleman at the store was extremely helpful the day I was not able to print a label that I had to have to send back a package he went on the computer and asked me a couple questions and before I know it the label was printed my package was gone and I was a very happy customer. I've been to dozens of UPS stores and have never been charged for petty stuff they nickel and dime you for. No UPS or USPS has ever charged for a piece of tape to tape a label that you've PAID THEM for! From the looks of it from other reviews, I'm not the only one who has had problems with them over charging, I'm sure it's the same guy, pocketing the "invisible charges" he's making up on the spot read more

I have used this branch of the UPS chain to ship more than 100 packages in the past six months (cleaning out and shipping my parents' stuff when they moved), as well as repeatedly using their shredding service for a slew of documents. This place has been a reliable source of professional service every single time. The store has easy parking, is clean and well-organized, and the employees are super-efficient and have a can-do attitude (special shout-out to Ethan) no matter what I have lugged in. i'm a frequent user of this particular ups store. the staff is wonderfully helpful, proficient at their tasks, and interact with the clients in a friendly and welcoming way. their rates for many goods and services are more expensive than the u.s.p.s., but as a private shipper, they are not constrained by certain federal laws, limitations of 'big-box' sizes, etc. the store at 3000 whitney ave. is my 'go-to' place for everything but mail. read more

I have had 3 interactions with these folks, all of them negative. They are condescending, rude, and unprofessional. When I called to complain about the rude treatment I got the first time, the owner refused to identify himself as the owner, got rude and snotty himself, and then never apologized. The last time I went there, another worker came at me with the same condescending spiel as the first one, almost word for word, which says to me that they were coached in what to say from the owner. Given that there are 4 other reviews on here which pretty much say the same thing as I am saying, its a fair bet to say this is a pattern. I recommend staying away from this business. I have been going to the UPS store at 3000 Whitney Ave, Hamden, CT for 3 years. The owner Larry and all his employees are extremely helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, and well trained. They all treat customers like they would a member of their own family. From the first time I walked in the store to do business with the owner and his assistants, I noticed their wonderful finesse at communicating with a new customer, me. It was like I walked back in time, when owner's used to really take the time to please their customers and meet all their needs, which is what they do. They also have a wonderful gift of remembering everyone's name who does business with them more than once, and not only the owner, but all the staff, will greet each customer by their first name when they enter the store. Within the 3 years that I have been their customer, I have had a shipment that was received broken. It was a valuable ceramic statue. Larry and his team of workers bent over backwards to help resolve the situation for me. I couldn't believe how much time and energy they took, and how many phone calls they made to the UPS headquarters to help resolve this shipping problem for me.
