The post office can get a bad rap. Sometimes deservingly so and sometimes not. This particular post office I don't have huge beef with. It's merely "a-ok." I sure do love sending (and receiving!) snail mail and live between this post office and the one downtown. Depending on where else my errands take me throughout the day, I often find myself here. There's a parking lot which I've never had trouble finding a spot in. It can be a little hard to get to depending on which way you're coming from, but all in all, it's not too bad. The line can be long but usually moves pretty fast. It's true the staff doesn't go out of their way to please, but I've always gotten the help that I've needed. I hear the kind of stuff they have to put up with while I wait in line and to be honest, I wouldn't be all that happy if I were them either! read more

The employees here at this post office are overcharging and stealing your money!!! And if you question anything they mock, ridicule, disrespect and even ignore you all together. I couldn't believe what I was watching. Then it was my turn. I was being charged 9.20 for postage on a paperback novel. When I asked to see the price actually printed on the label, Patrice responded I could not take a picture, I said- "I was just wondering why my paperback book was costing me 9.20 to send?" She removed label and threw it out. I never got to see-- She said "I didn't know you we're sending a book?" I responded you didn't ask. I thought postage was based on weight and size I got worried my book may get lost on transit so I asked for a supervisor and no one came out! Apparently It was my fault I was being overcharged I watched and waited for an hour in line while inefficient employees abused their authority , undermined and intimidated all customers.. and then I too was victimized. nicely located BUT one very rude young female employee, (makes actually 50% of the front desk staff) the young one with the tattooes... shows great care in arrogantly teaching customers how she thinks they should speak and even refuses to serve them if she estimates they have "the attitude". And the phone number which is advertised is wrong so you can't get in touch with the station manager. That particuliar employee is alas bringing bad reputation on the other good ones. I've stopped at this post office twice within the past few weeks. Both of my experiences help explain why the USPS is billions of dollars in debt IMO, given the atmosphere and customer service at this place. Normally this particular post office is packed with a long line of people waiting to get to the service counter, and the line moves slowly most times. It's also fairly dismal looking inside and doesn't appear like it's been updated since the 1980s or before. The ceiling is low, the furnishings are old and tired and large areas of the walls are peeling in a few places where it looks as if there had been water leaks or moisture problems. Where many post offices have sales displays or items hanging from the walls that you can purchase, the displays here are always empty and abandoned, and the few items they have hanging on the walls are crooked and/or covered in dust. Throw in the chrome tube fluorescent lights above the service counter with the fins on them that were in style decades ago, and you have one cheery place! Don't even get me started on the parking lot with all of the potholes and the missing/faded painted lines... When I came here several days ago, I was waited on by an older gentleman (Fernando, I believe). I had a few boxes to ship. He weighed the first one and immediately gave me the price to ship it Priority Mail. It's been my experience that most post offices give you the choice of a few options and different price ranges to choose from. Not this guy, he went right for Priority. When I chose to send this box ground, he simply rang up the other boxes the same way without even giving me the price of different shipping options or asking if I wanted a different service.. He got me out of there in a few moments, but it certainly wasn't a warm experience. I returned to this same post office late this week and after spending 15 minutes in line, I was helped by a woman who had a big smile on her face, which was nice. However, the sales pitch soon started after the usual fragile/liquids/perishable questions: "Do you want Priority or Express? With Express we guarantee it'll get there tomorrow!". Then after she weighed the package, here came the barrage of sales offers: "Insurance? Delivery confirmation? Tracking?" and the questions went on and on. Once I had my box shipped, here came another bunch of offers: "Do you need stamps, stationery, shipping boxes, a postal scale?" I declined, paid and was finally permitted to leave. I'm beginning to understand why the USPS is losing money and losing customers. Each time I went to this location, I entered a dismal looking post office that was in bad need of repair and renovation, to stand in a long line with a few simple packages to ship and instead I got what seemed like an appointment with a pushy used car salesman. Couple this with the way they've made the USPS less convenient overall to use in recent months with the removal of all stamp and postage vending machines that used to be in stores and post offices, the removal of many (not all) mailboxes that used to be found along several city sidewalks across the country, and one can easily see why it's tempting to avoid using the US Postal Service altogether. Give me good service from pleasant staff that take care of my needs without constantly trying to sell me a bunch of extra stuff and we'll get along fine. Otherwise, I'll buy my stamps at Publix when I need them and I'll ship my packages via UPS or FedEx if I need priority service. read more

Employees do the best they can under the circumstances. Always polite and helpful. The entitled customers are another story. Rude and impatient. Demanding, cutting the line. What they need is a security guard. Several times when I have gone on the past few months, some guy or woman is angry about waiting with the rest of us customers..it's a government institution people.. I go everyday to this post office and the ladies working there are always running non stop. They are fast and they always try to help the customers in any language... two days ago, one of the ladies was trying to speak spanish with a customer that didn't speak english. I come to this post office because it is the closest to brickell that has a parking lot. It is also conveniently located between brickell and coral gables. The counter clerks (only the female clerks) are always very friendly and helpful. They smile and try their best to answer all your questions and keep the line moving. I believe they do not speak Spanish. They do not look latina. The only noticeable latino clerk is a man. Everytime I come here, he seems to be the only male. Well he is not only noticeable for being the only man or for beign latino, but he always stands out to me for his mannerism. He is sarcastic and always has an answer for everything. His behavior is like he knows it all and the customer knows nothing. Im grateful to be bilingual. I can always wait to be attended by one of the lovely ladies and not have his demeanor ruin my mood. read more

Been a client for well over ten years w a post box until last year's staff replacement. Prior to, I loved coming in, was always greeted warmly, professional and great folks to be around regardless of how long the line ran it was worth the wait. Day ONE, of replacement of staff which was around June last year, I happen to go by to pick up my mail. I was shocked at the most ghetto vibe I'd seen since the 90's. Booty music playing loud, Doritos eating, hair patting, gum smacking, gossip yelling, front and center- ignoring the people in line. I approached the one lady I recognized from years past and to my surprise her new supervisor was now Sheneyney from Martin Lawrence's 90's show. The woman I knew that had been working at this place for over 15 years was overseen for supervisor position and instead we got this little prized winner. Our immediate encounter was a whole 'nother story in itself that resulted in a lot of yelling and empty threats. I closed my box the next day and never looked back. They lost a longtime loyal customer due to the lack of professionalism and awful now staff. Thanks but no thanks. Plenty of places where I can take my business. Also, forgot to mention- my car has been broken into while parked in their parking lot. I've seen about 3 break-ins during the holiday season. If you do go, don't leave anything valuable behind. They will scope your vehicle before you even leave the car. read more

I came here today to mail a package, and the second I walked in, you could tell the post office is understaffed. There was a long line, and I felt really bad for the only postal worker there because you could tell she was stressed but tried to make the best of the situation by smiling and greeting everyone in. She offered superb customer service, but everyone looked annoyed because the line was so long. Word to the management: Please hire more workers to handle everyone's requests. One person is not enough. I think the other person may have gone to lunch though. And huge props to the only postal worker there because she offered amazing customer service despite the circumstances. read more

I visited for the first time this location, and I'm praying it will be my last. A quick stop during lunch turned into a 20 minute ordeal. They have no lighting in the place, it looks like a hide out bomb shelter, down to the lights on top of each check out station with the bulbs running out. I always dread coming here... I only go because of the proximity and because SOMETIMES it's cheaper. Everyone that works there is always unwilling to help. Even if you're sending priority mail they're hesitant to let you use the FREE tape. Plain and simple I don't like this post office at all. There are much better USPS's elsewhere. On 5/13/2013, I hand-delivered a very crucial piece of mail to the Shenandoah branch of the US Post Office (at 1800 Coral Way, Miami, FL). I handed it to a HUMAN customer service rep (I did not simply throw it in the box or slot or whatever). I payed extra for CERTIFIED MAIL and RETURN RECEIPT. It is now 5/30/2013 and the USPS has no idea why my mail made it only to the destination city, but did not make it to the destination company. I am highly, highly disappointed, and I doubt I'll ever use them again for any important mailing. I'll use Fed-Ex and pay a little extra. I called them up and opened a case a few days ago and was promised a call back on Tuesday the 28th (after the Memorial holiday). It's now Thursday and no call-back whatsoever from the USPS. I spoke with the USPS Consumer Affairs Office--of course, they provided no immediate answer to my situation, but they claim they will call back in a few days with a response. I'm not holding my breath. I might've had better luck sending this piece of mail via a carrier pigeon. I really hope they cut hours off the USPS... and they can stick their Saturday delivery where the sun don't shine. USPS is outdated and obviously runs on an obsolete infrastructure. read more

There has to be something wrong with this place because I can't agree anymore with the rest of the reviews. This place gives me a flash back of the early 80's with no sign of improvements. The service is the lowest you can get and they won't make an effort to make things better. This location is near my house and I use it only in emergencies. My time is valuable and I hate standing in line for 15-20 minutes because the two clerks on duty don't give a shit. I wish I could remembered the name of the clerk who pretty much threw my change due to his nasty attitude like if it was my fault that the place was jammed. read more

The place needs a bit of a renovation but lately that Last week I sent a few packages to my sister and they have a lady who helps people pack their packages, answer any questions you would have and advises you on what to do in order to get what you are looking for. Every time i am there they have ONE person working. Even to just get a receipt for dropping off a prepaid package it takes about 20-30 minutes every time. They don't have a drop box either. It's very simple, during busy times have more than one person working. read more

This is the worst post office in Dade County. They dont help. The service is very poor. Compared to other USPS locations, their assistance is at an all time low. They dont even have some tape to help seal 1 box. Doesnt seem logical to me to ask for less than a foot of tape to seal a return package with a prepaid label. Just came from this extremely unpleasant "post office" which must be some twisted government experiment in human behavior manipulation - it's not even actually called a post office anymore - the sign outside says "Shenandoah Finance Unit". It's staffed by some of the most petty passive-aggressive clerks that you will find in any post office anywhere including those in much "worse" neighborhoods. I actually thought they were shutting this place down and had decided to de-staff it and let it rot a few years ago based upon the poor service and it's sorry state of repair, but no, apparently this haz-mat psycho ward is what passes as a US postal facility these days. As other reviewers have noted, the place is a dump. Dim, hot, stuffy, with absolutely no air circulation, overgrown weeds out front, missing ceiling tiles, stains on the wall, bent metal stands, 15-year-old commemorative items for sale. Long lines, painfully slow service, staff who spend most of their limited energy trying to be patronizing to customers, and who seem to enjoy disappearing into the back room when lines and waits are at their longest to "drop off something" or to grab a smoke outside the back door, as I've seen one of them doing. Don't even get me started on the apparent intelligence level of some of the customers, many of whom just show up without preparing their mail or packages until they either get into the line or are finally waited upon and then end up holding up everyone else waiting. Or those who yap loudly on their cell phone while standing six inches away from others in line, or those who just continue standing in the same spot after the line has moved on several feet in front of them, apparently just because they can. The parking lot is nasty, small and crowded too - I saw a fender-bender there on a recent Saturday morning when there were only a few cars in the lot when two people busy talking on their cell phones backed into each other simultaneously. Gosh, I know its the Post Office, but the service is slow and the line is always long. The ladies behind the counter are for the most part friendly and willing to work with you. Unfortunately that is not enough to suggest coming to this PO. There are better options in Miami. read more

I went to this post office this afternoon to mail a package. I asked for a stamp for the package and to mail it, and I guess there was a misunderstanding, because when I turned to go, the man said, "take your stamp!" I said, "I just needed a stamp for the package; I don't need another stamp". He rolled his eyes and shook his head as he turned toward the register to refund me for the stamp. When I informed him that his behavior was rude, he said, "it's a free country. I can shake my head if I want to!" I think I will drive further in the future to go to a post office where they don't treat customers so horribly. read more
