Parking is best in the lot but there are tons of options around. FACILITY: very 1970'ish but functional without some of the new tech stuff other branches have. STAFF: always helpful, fast, and ambassadors to usps. Some of the customers however is terrible and I have seen them being so rude to desk clerks. I was trying to send some mail and ask how many stamps I would need for the weight of my package and was told that I could add extra stamps to my mail, but it was unlikely that it was going to get sent so I told the man that I rather just buy an envelope and put my mail in it then to risk not sending my mail out. It definitely frustrated me that he went back back-and-forth telling me to put more stamps on it, but then it may be not making it which sounds counterintuitive. It clearly upset me which he had noticed and then told me that he noticed I was in a bad mood and that I should have a good day. This type of sarcasm and trying to kill somebody with kindness I'm sorry, but did not work and it was very unprofessional and not the place to talk about how someone's mood is as they're leaving. For future reference, there is no need for you to bring up somebody's emotional state or to say that you are feeling what they're feeling. This is incredibly unprofessional. I've been going to this local post office for a couple years now but after an exceptional experience today, I came to Yelp to write a review. I am super surprised to see so many 1 star, PO'd reviews as I've only received top notch service here! Understand that if you come here near Christmas mailing time and the like, you should expect there to be a line. But today, as I frequently experience, there were just 2 people ahead of me in line when I walked in. I brought in 45 cards to be mailed, but they had to be individually weighed and inspected to see if they needed extra postage (larger than normal sized/heavy) or needed to be hand postmarked to avoid going through the machine (there were jewels/trinkets attached). Gabriel helped me with utmost patience to ensure each card was given the proper postage. I also saw him helping a young family getting passports, and he went above and beyond to be very assuring of how the process works and to help them fill out parts of the paperwork they were unsure of. I inquired about getting passport photos and he explained they do take care of them at this post office, but it is by appointment only. He asked if I was a AAA member (I am) and suggested that I can get the photos and paperwork processed there easily without an appointment. He was a very kind hearted person. read more

Whomever is sorting the packages at this USPS location clearly needs a basic understanding of their own USPS parcel shipment requirements for Jan 1st (then enacted 15th), 2025 changes. (We use ship station platform). In addition the front counter staff also is not current of their own shipping regulations as their best guess will end up costing you double what the pricing should be. Save your sanity and don't bother with this location. It's a total waste of money and time to deal with anyone who works here. Call USPS from home if you can't find specifics in website. Print your labels at home. Drop your packages at USPS Indio or anywhere rather than here. In Feb over TWENTY packages were returned to myself & my neighbor's businesses in LQ for basic USPS errors after dropping them with front desk for not reading their own postal marking requirements or communicating to their (team?). So now I drive the same distance to Indio USPS instead. Such better service, the counter help answers all my questions, lines are much easier because they have staff who work and less white shaming attitudes, less eye rolls than USPS LQ when a question is asked. On a good note for LQ; I'm not sure why it took a year to get drop down package receptacle to work but it's now working. Similar to the front doors not being addressed for months at a time. Those got fixed too. USPS seriously needs to review basics at this LQ location like staying open to the hours posted, the pregnant lady at the front shaming customers on entry/exit for her choices, and not shutting the gate 15 mins ahead of closing but everyone already can see what the problem is in 3 specific employees already recognized on Yelp who clearly are just pissed that they have to lift a finger and acknowledge basic changes to their shipping requirements. They're extremely rude and act like you're asking the world when you're just asking them to do their basic job. The mail pick up in a nightmare and you'll wait for 30 minutes or more while ringing that bell. They do not care that you're there. They all move at a snails pace with no urgency. I don't know what is up with all of the bad reviews of this US Post Office. I come here often (once every 3 months), and the customer service is always top notch. The only issue would be the long lines, and there are so few employees working up front. I tend to wait between 10-30 minutes usually. But once I reach the front, the employees would be very considerate in helping you decide how to ship your packages and will tell you the price of each option without giving an attitude or forcing you into a quick decision. I do usually see irate customers behind or in front of me complaining or making gestures to hurry up, so I blame the customers. read more

Horrible experience here every time I have gone in. There's always a very rude middle aged woman who has an attitude and speaks so coldly to myself and other customers. But that was not what pushed me to writing this review, today I had to call in to ask about a package I did not receive and the man who answered (after I pressed the extension "0") was so short and rude to me I was speechless at how rude he was. He even hung up the phone on me mid sentence! I can tell he did not want to be there but I am a customer who ships using USPS normally, so I would've expected them to be just civil. Now I have such a bad taste in my mouth about USPS because of this miserable nasty man that I made a decision going forward to exclusively ship with only UPS. Seems like the management here might have changed for the worse. Hours online and on the door say 8AM opening hours. The staff show up at 8:30 with a line and everyone wondering what is going on, many already left. No sign or anything to notify as of any change of hours, no explanation or anything, it's as if nobody cares. The entry door was broken and the arm would hit the glass and the door would bounce back and almost hit people in the head as they walked out, as there is no door spring. Management was told, and again did nothing. They did not seem to care one bit, no one even came to look at the door, not important to them apparently. We waited almost one hour just to hand over a package to scan. Go to any other location than this one, and save yourself some aggravation. read more

Terrible experience. Most people don't need staff to be super upbeat, but it also sucks to be treated like garbage for no reason at all- and that's what these people do. The processes here are outdated or the staff is so unhelpful that they just watch you do things incorrectly - you have to physically write the address in a sharpie on every box, only for them to immediately print a label with the typed address. I have been with this P.O. for almost 3 years, as now I am so disappointed about their services. I was out of town for 2 months, and went by to pick up my mails, then found out they took my mails out from the box because the rent was due a week ago. They made me paid $20 extra fee on the top of another 6 months rent because I want the same mail box! I asked them why $20? Then the desk girl told me that they charged it because they changed the new lock, so I have to pay for it! Okay.. I asked the desk girl if they still hold my mails somewhere in the back because it's only a week since the day they locked up my box. The girl said there was no mails and I have to check the mailbox tomorrow if I want. I asked for the new key, then she said why don't I come back another day to check mails and also try the same old key to see if it's still working? I told the girl what's is a big deal about that, why didn't she want to give me a new key because I already paid for it? She went, oh.. the lady who take care of the lock box is not there today! I left.. 2 days later, I came back to check on my mails, they put the new lock on, so I couldn't open it. I came by the counter and asked for the new key, and the girl made me to show my receipt in order to get it. I told her if she can check on her computer system to find my name to give me the key, she told me that the system will not have my record!!Duh.... I finally found my receipt somewhere in my bag and gave it to her, then she give me the new key?! I am very disappointed about the post office system, and the help desk girl with bad attitude. I brought up my story to share with everyone who rent the mailbox here that be aware of nonsense charge just because only one week behind the rent without notice, I mean no phone call or email to let customers know that there is a due rent, and they took my time and made me back and forth twice with my lost mails!!! I came here to mail a book to a friend. 5:05 pm and they were closed. I didn't know they closed at 5pm so that is my fault. I was about to leave when I saw 2 stations where you can supposedly do everything just like you were at the counter. I got happy so I started w/ step 1: weighed my package. It seemed pointless because you couldn't print out a stamp or postage sticker. So I went to step 2: went through all of the prompts. Then it didn't even give me the option of using media mail. So I did all of that for nothing and walked away with my packaged book and wasted time. The only helpful person has been Bill and he can't do anything about my situation. I addressed a package to be shipped to NY. Over the span of 10 business days, the package made its way to PA and back to CA. Upon the package's arrival at this Post Office, I asked them to hold it for me so that I could get a refund as I did not pay $50 for my package to make a round trip. Bill did all he could. He called me to follow up while he was searching for my package and called me again when he found it. That's where the help stops. I arrived only to be turned away by 2 employees and their manager on site with the most ridiculous blame deflection that I've ever heard. It's one excuse after another as to why my package made a round trip for $50 with zero effort to try and make my situation right and to be told that I will not get a refund because they believe that it is in no way, shape, or form their fault. They fixate on the fact that the "To" and "From" are reversed which they are saying is the reason for my package coming back to CA. Their are HUGE letters that clearly say who it is "TO" and who it is "FROM". They go on to explain that it was on its way to me as if I had shipped it to myself but refuse to acknowledge the fact that it went all the way to PA. If it was wrong from the beginning, why would it have ever left the state? Why not take any ownership of the problem when the package was handled by USPS employees during my package's unnecessary round trip? God forbid any of you ever have an issue with a package and have to deal with this store. Horribly rude staff. Weird clunky process. Booked an appointment weeks in advance for a passport renewal. When I get there I didn't need an appointment at all! When I was asking questions about why they require appointments if they aren't necessary. The person helping me just kept saying, "idk," "well did you read the application."(that was sent to me the night before my appointment) Then said something about needing an appointment because I have to take a picture but when I told him their machine was down. He just responded, "yea for now." ??? Then he accused me of having an attitude and being, "offended." Whatever that means. I was frustrated about the experience of course, but I was perfectly polite with him just trying to figure out what happened. I came in today with an obnoxiously large box that I was dreading trying to fill it with padding for a purse I had to ship. I also had forgotten my packing tape but I was promptly greeted by "Eddy" and he offered to help. Immediately he solved my problem of the box and took it upon himself to cut the box down in no time and found some tape for me to close up the box. It's something so simple but really made a huge difference to me. Like I said, I was dreading how to ship this thing and he took charge and totally helped me out! Very appreciative! Horrible post office. As a business professional, I am appalled at the ineptness of this post office. I have lost more than an acceptable amount of my shipments and lost more money in the process. They will not take responsibility for anything and the very best they can say is, sorry. Sorry that they lost over $300 in sales from my business last year? Sorry that they held on to my shipments for over 5 days recently showing that I did not actually take them to the post office? Sorry that most of the time they do not scan outgoing media mail if you purchase online postage? Their reason? Well, you didn't wait at the window like everyone else. I am not making this up. It will be further for me to travel, but I will be going to the Palm Desert Post office which I hope is better than the La Quinta one. I am not sure their satellite office in Old Town is any better as they are connected so will not take that chance. Of all the nearby locations, their address on Corporate Center gives me a very business-like address. You can use their address, 79125 Corporate Center Drive #(your own PO box number), La Quinta, CA 92248 as your business address and AVOID HAVING TO STATE "PO Box number." They will explain how you can do this and provide you with the form to fill out. It's quick, painless and no extra charge! I was delighted by the level of service and assistance they gave me setting up my company address. This is a new Post Office with new boxes. Your PO box is available to you 24/7 as are many of the automated services. read more

Super disappointed by my recent trip here. Bottom line- the staff member who assisted me could not count, provided me with FALSE information, and cost me money in the end. Went to pick up stamps for my wedding invites. Took one and asked how much it would cost to ship it. Without weighing it the man who assisted me said it would be more than a regular 44 cent stamp. Said it would be a 64 cent stamp. He did weigh it and told me it was a 64 center. They did not have enough of these stamps. That's fine, I figured I would go somewhere else. I bought many of their stamps. But they guy charged me for 33 stamps when I only got 29. Turns out, he cant count. He was counting rows of 5 when there were only 4 in a row. I brought it to his attention, he counted them wrong again, until I told him that there were 4 per row. This seemed to blow his mind. In the end he gave me some more stamps but I was still one short. Super over it, I just left. So I took my finished invites, this time with additional weight added (a lightweight band) to the Indio post office. I asked them to weigh it and they said it only cost me 44 cents! This with additional weight since I went to the LQ post office. Now I'm stuck with 32 sixty four cent stamps because postage is non refundable. Thank goodness the helpful people at the Indio post office helped me catch this before I sent out my invites. We received no invites back so they were in fact, only 44 cents. Drive the few extra miles to Indio or Palm Desert to save yourself the headache. read more
