I am trying to locate a piece of mail, sent certified, return receipt requested, mailed on 10/23 from the Livingston, NJ post office Since 10/29 tracking on the mail indicates it is still at the Kearny Distribution Center. I have called the 800 #, nothing, I filed a report and got an automated call from Washington, D.C. Very little response from the postmaster in Livingston. Next step is to reach out to postmaster in Kearny. read more

OMGSH! I just read the reviews and see that I'm not the only one frustrated with the incompetence of this post office staff. My package made it from Florida to Kearney, only for someone to mistakenly send it back to Florida, delaying it for who knows how many more days. This isn't the first time this post office has messed up like this. They should consider starting over with an entirely new staff! read more

The Kearny, NJ is the worst in the country. The past two medicine shipments (which I need to live) were sent through Kearny because I live in Jersey. I have a store and ship with prepaid labels dropping the packages at the Kearny post office for shipping. On 12/13 I left a large sized package on the counter inside the office and the clerk made room to accommodate it. However, the package never got scanned in so there was no way to check on the tracking. When I went to the post office a few days later to check on what happened, the male clerk was rude but told me to come back a few days later. So today I did. The same male clerk told me that I never left the package there and stopped short of directly calling me a lier and said to me to NEVER bring up this issue again. I live about 20 minutes away by car. Over the last two months I have had several packages shipped and make their way to the Kearny post office, which should be one of their last stops, only for them to be shipped half way across the country to places like Ohio and Minnesota! Why is it not allowed to give a 0 star review? No other post office angers me and frustrates me as much as this one. I am absolutely fuming at this point. Two packages sent out within the last month, both of them delayed in this facility. Both were paid priority as well to make sure it would get to the destination within 3 days. The last one wasn't delivered until over a week later and this one has been stuck in the Kearny facility for a week already and still counting. I sent my package out at the post office in Budd Lake. The same night I got tracking info for it saying it was sent to Kearny and it arrived there at 8:39 PM. After that? Nothing. For a week now, nothing. This seems to happen every single time I order anything online, which I do alot. They all get stuck here for longer than any place else. It really needs to stop. It is 12/22. I ordered an eBay item 12/16. The item was supposed to arrive yesterday, 12/21. It was sent from Monroe Twshp. to Kearny on 12/17 in an hour. It has been "sitting" there for 5 days. This is a fine Post Office but one that is rather laid back. They do their jobs well but the vibe is more of a small town post office rather than a semi-urban suburb less than 10 miles from NYC. The building exterior is beautiful - a wonderful late 19th red/grey brick building done when people took great civic pride in the construction of their post offices. The inside is more pedestrian but still retains its charm of the older post offices with high ceilings and nice WPA art. The only critique I have is that you do have to be a little pushy to get some things investigated as they are rather by the book in protocols and asking them to go the extra mile is sometimes not done --- mostly because they seem to adhere strictly to the customer service rules and protocols. I wish some of the staff were creative in finding ways to go the extra mile without risking breaking rules. However, they all have a joke ready to give and smile and will gladly guide you in your purchases to the best deals if you ask. read more

4 of my orders shows DELIVERED on tracking but goods never received. After reading the reviews here, i am sure they are stealing people's deliveries by posting the status completed. When you raise issue , there is 45 min call waiting, Customer service did not understand that they forcefully completed the status without delivery. If you want to skip all potatoes in this review and get right to the meat, just remember this: If you live anywhere around Kearny, NJ just use UPS. This is by far the lousiest excuse for a USPS location that I have had the misfortune of dealing with. If there was a Paulie Shore movie dealing with the USPS and their inadequacies, it would take place at the sorting facility in Kearny, NJ. Just about 1 out of every 5 parcels that go through this station gets delayed for days or redirected to another state. The one positive thing I will say is that I haven't actually lost a package yet through this USPS location, so there's that. read more

Drove all the way over to this post office, as it said it would be open until 5:45pm. I made it there by 5pm with supposedly 45mins to spare. I get to the door, and all the way inside just for a worker to then close the door in my face and say "no we're closed." I have a package that was sent to me through USPS and I still have no idea where it is. I haven't been able to contact anyone and no one I spoke to had any answers or help. The package was sent on December 2nd from Bayonne, New Jersey to Clementon, New Jersey. (2 Hour Difference). The package ended up at the Kearny, NJ facility and they shipped it to Florida. The shipper and sender are both located in NJ. The last update on the package is receipt by Opa Locka, Florida facility. It has been sitting there since December 5th, 2015. Today is December 10th, i've left multiple messages on numerous numbers provided for help and I've received no call or help in locating or trying to even get it to the appropriate location. If your packages are coming through Kearny, NJ or Opa Locka, Florida then you have to be weary that you might not get your package for a few weeks. read more

Had a really bad experience today with this nasty old lady. I had my daughter's passport done in Harrison's PO without any appointment in 2010. I did not know they changed the law and now you need am appointment. I waited in line and when I showed my papers to this nasty lady she says: " you can't just walk off the streets and think that you are getting this done". I got so mad the way she talked to me, she had a nasty attitude! All she was supposed to do is just tell me they changed the way they do things now, and I would've been fine with that. First and last time going there. I rather just go to NY and have it done there. read more

I don't even know where to begin with this place. If they're not losing packages or tracking numbers, they are at the front desk breaking the balls of every single customer who walks up to the counter. The staff is a bunch of old miserable USPS workers who should probably retire and collect their pension instead of trying to squeeze minute amounts of money out of customers. Someone needs to let them know they aren't gonna save the (failing) USPS. The staff and service here is a clear sign as to why the masses are choosing UPS and FedEx over the USPS. Downright terrible.
