My disabled son was awaiting his birthday present from out of town. Harrison Township tried to deliver it on Monday, but my son did not hear the door. They said that they were going to redeliver the next day, and my son waited all day for it, and it was never delivered. It's important for the public to be able to trust the post office. This post office is the most rachet agency in this area. No post master the employees are rude and narcissistic. They act as if the world owes them something. Plus they are clueless and can barely put a sentence together together. Where did they hire these people from?? What yellow bus did they fall out from. Speaking of which they can't drive either. I was almost hit leaving the parking lot in the rear. Never got my passport done here can't trust them to actually keep my privacy & complete the task . The only reason I remove a star is due to the following: indoor renovations and waiting time. Although, I like the old school vintage look, they should upgrade it a bit. There are no postage machines. That would probably help out with some wait time. There are never any working pens to use. Numerous times I've had to lend mine out to customers. I went in today, 10 days before Christmas and they had ran out of Christmas stamps. Their stamp options are highly limited and that's a bummer in my eyes. Worse time I've been here is during lunch time as the line can be super long. Yet, the workers make this place better!! They're always friendly with me. They're knowledgeable of all packaging transactions. I've seen them do their very best to even communicate with people who do not speak English. During one visit where the closing time is 4:30pm I arrived at 4:26. Doors were still open and as usual I was attended. 4:30 doors closed and they patiently waited for me to finish what I was doing. After reading the reviews from years ago, I'm saddened to say that the service in this post office is still unwelcoming and rude. No customer is greeted, everyone is rushed and told what to do, and no one is helpful. Even over the phone, the staff was beyond rude. I avoid this post office at all costs, but after losing a package through USPS and getting no answers, I had to go in. Still no package and still an unsatisfied customer. read more

She went above and beyond to help with tracking down a package (starting at 6am!!) which has clothing that I needed for a wedding the same day. The Harrison, NJ post office isn't very big and its an old, unrenovated space with no postage machines. The steps here are a lawsuit waiting to happen because at the slightest bit of precipitation they become very slippery. That said, I come here all the time because it's in a convenient location. I'm always here either at lunchtime or the end of the day and the place could use a facelift and some training of staff in customer service. Here's the biggest issue I have with this place...your experience here will be positive or negative based on who's working. In all my visits here there are three people who work the counter...one is an older guy-he's hit or miss with his mood, but is usually fine if you're prepared. The second one, who is usually there, is a short woman who ALWAYS has a smile on her face and is very helpful (clearly my favorite); she's fast, and friendly, and even when she's having a bad day at least she tries to be pleasant. The third is a woman who sounds like she's smoked three packs a day for 30 years and who has no patience with anyone...it's like you are bothering her by being there and she has a superiority complex simply because she's a postal employee. This third woman is slow, always cranky, and treats everyone like crap. Like I said, I come here all the time, because it's convenient, and it's better than the Newark Midtown location...parking isn't great (on-street), but I've always found a spot. Went to mail a heavy package. Waited 20 minutes for them to open at 8:30 (later than most?) The guy says $34.00 CASH ONLY! I say why cash only? "The phone line is down!" I say "how long has this been going on?" Two weeks! "It's Verizon's fault!" He says! Yeah. I'm sure it is. As an American, I'm sad to see a once great organization stumble and hobble so hopelessly. I know some good folks who work for the USPO. Unfortunately, it is a reminder to all the centralized planning, "government efficiency" is lacking at best - criminally ineffective at worst. Next up? As with most Post Offices, this place is useless. Every employee there is rude and not helpful. Instead of helping you they give you attitude as though you know everything about their services. Customer service is horrible here and no help at all. I came to the USPS office in Harrison NJ on Saturday. I said good morning to the lady at the desk she did not bother to Hi back to me. Then I asked here to locate my package and showed her the tracking information through my phone. She looked at the information through my phone and said its not here yet. Again, she did not bother to look into the system to make sure. I said ok I will check Monday and left the office. Guess what! When I got back home the package was at my door. Awesome experience here! I went in and needed to mail 8 boxes! I went to the desk and filled out all of my priority mail to and from labels, grabbed my boxes, grabbed tape and had everything ready in 20 minutes. I piled the boxes once completed up at the window! This very friendly, nice postal worker named Gina helped me. We talked about vacations in Hawaii and just a beautiful experience. No attitude because I had no many boxes! She even gave me advice on getting a post office box! Bravo. read more

Can not thank them enough. Steve at the counter knows my mother and our family. He noticed that my mother was nervous and got in touch with our mail carrier to let me know something was wrong. When I got to the post office I was able to stop my mother from sending a $5,000.00 money order to someone in mt vernon ny. She told me she won $3,000,000.00 and she had to send this money order to him. It was a scam, they told my mother it was PCH. Thank you Harrison Post Office. Horrible customer service. I had a package come on Monday, but I'm not home that day. As soon as I saw it was an attempted delivery, I requested redelivery for Tuesday, when I'd be working from home. However, they never showed up, despite the two confirmation emails I received. So I changed it to Friday, when I would be at home again. But tracking hadn't updated yet on Thursday. It continued to say delivery was going to happen Monday. So I double checked my redelivery request and discovered it said Tuesday again. I updated it a second time, and it finally sent a comfirmation. Then I got a phone call. They were refusing to deliver it because they claim they tried and failed on Wednesday, a day they shouldn't have been trying unless they have no idea how to read their own redelivery form. And the tracking never even reflected this event, so I highly doubt it happened. After arguing with them that someone spent $40 for this 27lb package to be shipped to me and that I couldn't carry that all the way home, they finally caved. They claim it will come tomorrow. I'll believe it when I see it. read more

My wife and I went to the postal office for a mailer and found a box of them with a clear note "for sale @ $2". Each mailer had a barcode and same listed price of $2.59. So it's natural to think all mailers were on sale for $2. When checking out, it was scanned at $2.59. After I doubted about the price difference, the staff said only mailers without barcode were for sale at $2. Then I pointed out that all mailers had barcodes, she then changed her tone, saying other mailers should be scanned at $2. Then I randomly selected two mailers in the box and asked her to scan them. Both were scanned at $2.59. She then claimed that other customers must have moved the three mailers from somewhere else into the box, so I still had to pay $2.59. I was tired of her making things up to cover her ignorance and asked for the manager. The manager insisted I should pay $2.59 since I wrote on it. I was not happy to pay the extra 59c because they made customers confused about the price. The manager became very rude and arrogant, kept repeating that they had no fault in it but ours because we didn't ask staff for "correct" price. I was upset of her attitude, and called USPS 800 number for help. I wanted to speak to agent first but she thought I refused to pay and called the police. But the phone didn't go though and I decided to pay $2.59 to settle. However, she refused my payment and wanted us to be arrested since "she already gave us a chance". Finally, the police settled the issue with me paying the full price. I was extremely dissatisfied with the rude and arrogant attitude of the staff and manager. During the entire process, they didn't show any sincerity to work things out or provide solutions, but kept dodging responsibilities and forcing payment. In the end, they even wanted us to be arrested by the police. It is never a matter of 59c. What we are angry about is their lacking basic courtesy toward customers.
