My overall experiences are generally positive. my only real complaint is the removal of the machines where you could purchase your own stamps or postage for packages. This post office though was notably better than the norm. The ladies working were friendly, not just a polite smile, but genuine. They engaged in small talk and just left me with a good vibe feeling. Sadly this post office is not convenient for my normal postal needs or I would make it my go to. just a little too far out of the way for that.

What makes the difference when you visit a place that is busy & possibly has a long wait is customer service. How you handle your patrons I'd a major deal for me. I always have to take that into account with any dealing that I have at an establishment. Well, this location was spot on with great customer service & team work. I personally have never witnessed this with a post office. I arrive on a Tuesday after a holiday with hopes that everyone would be back to work & lines would be short. WRONG. I also was not in the best of moods because I had been trying to accomplish my business for months at the location near me. I was then sent to another location & finally ended at this location. I called to verify what I was told & this location actually ANSWERED the phones! The phones didn't ring forever either! As I waiting in the long line, I witnessed the perfessional behavior of the clerks as they had to deal with all types of personalities. Even when things got hostile & one of the computers went down they remained professional. One lady from the back came up to help by taking passport people & getting everything in order then another lady rang you up. One gentleman called people to the back if you needed your passport photo taken & then you went back in line. This location of employees did their best with what they had & streamlined the process as much as possible. Great job Grandview Postal employees you are the exception & not the rule.

There was a 45 minute window between the times I checked the mailbox. First, it was empty and then our mail and you "missed you" notice appeared. During that time we were sitting in our front room with the front door open, and the screen door closed. No one knocked, rang the doorbell or even stepped on our property during that time. So how did the letter carrier miss us? She didn't. She lied. Again. On multiple occasions, we have received a notice that an outgoing package was picked up from our porch when it was still sitting there, forcing me to deliver it to the post office myself. I don't think they should offer a free service picking up packages and then not show up and then lie about it. Our litter carrier has a difficult relationship with the truth. I went to the post office to claim the registered letter that we "missed". The only lady working the counter had no interest in helping me whatsoever. She summoned a supervisor, who is actually quite helpful. I can see why he is the supervisor. He met me with empathy and assured me that this was not the policy of the US Postal Service. He also said that he would speak with the letter carrier regarding our situation. So far, so good. Nothing has come up since, but it's only been a few weeks. I hope that there are no issues going forward.

They are open 8:30-5. For most people who work, this ensures they will open after one leaves for work and be closed before one returns. I was hopeful to just use the self service machines for my needs, but they do not have any at this location. I was not the only one inconvenienced by this as two other people came in at the same time I did and found it quite absurd that the post office isn't open or doesn't have services at convenient times. It is not a shock that the postal service is doing so bad. They still charge rates that are really low for the service they provide, this is why I go there over UPS or FedEx. But when people can not even access the services, that can not be helping an already bad situation. Bring back the self service machines, saves on labor and provides 24 hour access.
