Postal services in Houston, Texas... Not all post offices are open on Saturdays! We used my Yelp app and found this US Post Office. It was convenient, not crowded, and stocked with Flat Rate boxes that my niece needed. My niece already had three boxes filled with her dorm items. However, the sharp worker noticed that the boxes she had gotten were "Priority Mail" which had a higher shipping cost. We quickly opened all boxes and repacked items into "Flat Rate" boxes. Thanks for letting us use the free packing tape and ballpoint pens! While my niece packed her belongings, I wrote her Hawaii address on the boxes. The sharp clerk again noticed that some of the addresses were incorrect! My niece asked me if I knew her Hawaii address... Uh... no... LOL! I just dropped packages at the self service kiosk so my review is about that Location: I almost drove right by this location! It doesn't have a large sign like others. Wow staff was actually nice. So unexpected. For you dinos out there who haven't used the post office for a while I've posted current rates. Also letters are not charged by just the weight anymore. It also depends on the size of the envelope with anything bigger than your standard letter envelope being considered "large" and double in price. Also you can track the letter online for no extra charge. FYI - Photo machine broken for those of you who made appointment for photo services with your passport. read more

I was there 10/13/2023 at 1:30 pm. Standing in a long line and they had only one employee behind the counter. Finally a second employee arrives. At 1:32 pm the first employee motions me up to the counter. I needed to buy two money orders, slip them into already-prepared envelopes, and buy postage. She sells me the two money order and then announces that she is going on her lunch break! Seriously? She can't even finish this transaction with a customer? Nope, told to go back and stand in line. Well I didn't stand in line. I just stood off to the side and waited for the second employee to finish the transaction with her employee, and then walked up to her. looking back, I wish I had scolded employee number one. This is the worst post office I have ever been to. And that is quite the feat. Had appointment to get passport renewed with a minor (two parents must be present). Waited in line. 20 minutes later told that the passport person wasn't there and to come back next day at same time. I'm back. The service at this location is absolutely terrible. All of the employee's here ALWAYS have a bad attitude and heaven forbid you ask them to do anything remotely close to their job because they'll just give a snarky response or tell you do it yourself at the self-service kiosk. Hands-down the rudest and worst experience I've ever had at a Post office. The ladies working Tuesday September 27th at 2:30 PM do not care about their job or customer service. I was in line for a long time trying to get a receipt for a prepaid package. She kept yelling at me to go to the kiosk to get a receipt instead so she wouldn't have to physically serve me. I did not want to do that. She kept yelling at it in front of everyone over and over and I finally went to the kiosk. I did not get a receipt, and my package got stuck inside the slot. I went back inside to ask for help and no one helped me. I will never come here again. I needed a receipt to get credit for merchandise and I do not have. In addition to that I was embarrassed by the verbal harassment. Do better! read more

Walked in and the customer service rep was fighting with the customers about how she had to service the post office customers first before them (because they were there for passports). They fought for a while and she told them to come back, all the while the line was building up. I was there to ship out a package for a Poshmark order. I let the representative scan the QR code and then asked her if I could upgrade to overnight delivery because the seller had asked for it. She said "Oh sorry I already put it in the system," and had proceeded to put on the label while I was explaining what I needed. I asked her what I should do and she told me that she needed the cost of the original shipping so she could subtract it from the premium cost (that would come from the overnight shipping). I asked her to step aside and look for this, but she then went on break, so I had to get back in line. I explained to the next representative that I needed to upgrade the shipping to overnight and she asked me why I wasn't able to do it before. I told her what had happened and she gave me a sheet to fill out. I filled out the sheet and got back in line. When I approached the front desk again, the representative said I will need to peel off the sticker that the other representative had put on. I stepped to the side and proceeded to peel off the sticker. She let me get my place back in line, and we were able to ship it out with overnight shipping. All in all, this experience was around 1 hour. TOOK FOREVER. In addition, the representatives were incredibly rude and slow working. Avoid this place like the plague. Do not come here. read more

This is the slowest post office and nobody is ever working. During the busy times one lady will be working but a random Tuesday they have a full staff working. Also the staff is generally rude and one employee gets very angry if you are not in a mask. If I had a closer post office I would go there. read more

If Newman (of the apocryphal Apartment 5F) from Seinfeld worked at a post office, this would be his post office. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about a visit to this post office. The facilities are old, not well cared for, and resemble more of a dingy forgotten bus station in New Jack City than they should for a post office in the River Oaks area, a stone's throw from multi-million dollar homes and expensive "luxury" apartments. There must be a metro bus stop nearby because the majority of people walking up and down Timmons, running parallel along the edge of the post office parking lot, appear like they absolutely do not belong in this neighborhood under any circumstances. While they helpfully have the old school drive up big blue mailboxes outside so you can for the most part avoid going inside, there is always a wait to throw your mail into the gaping maw of the big blue box. It seems like every time I come by here to "save time" over driving a bit further to get to one of the nicer post offices nearer downtown I end up waiting an incredible long time. Sometimes the people strolling along the sidewalks of Timmons call out to people in their cars in line to get to the blue box. Inevitably it will always be the person in the car in front of me that attempts to enter into a longwinded negotiation for a toothless blowjob from a hobo (a "blowbo" portmanteau brought into the mainstream by none other than Penny Arcade) in the middle of tossing his mail into the box and driving off so the next person can dump their mail in and move on with their life as well. This post office isn't on my home turf but instead on my work. Since most of the time the most I ever mail is my Netflix I'll usually just drop it off here. They have a nice convenient drive by drop off box. Can't go wrong with that. But the main thing I enjoy about this place; automatic postal machine! When I worked as a Law Clerk in Boston, I got real familiar with one of these. When I moved to TX, I was on a hunt to find one. For some odd reason not ever post office I found had one, but this place does. Never again shall I wait in line to mail a package or even buy stamps. Mr. APM will do it for me. One down side is when people use the machine and really don't know what they are doing. I guess we are all n00bs at some point. read more

I am so spoiled by the Greenbriar location where everyone is very nice and efficient. This experience was like something out of a bad SNL skit. I literally waited in a short line for 45 minutes while one "representative" actually said she had other things to do and refused service to a customer in the middle of her transaction. So then that customer ends up in my line making that even worse than it was to begin with. Once it was finally my turn, the cashier refused to give me a receipt for my transaction. Heaven forbid I have documentation of this disaster to escalate. This operation is in one word terrible! I came into the Post Office upon my arrival there was one clerk yelling at a patron who was trying to get the proper envelope to mail something and was a little unsure which size was the proper envelope instead of assisting her she just sat behind the counter and screamed at her. I was there to get a passport photo which they only do from 9:00am 11:00am in the morning and 1:00pm to 4:00pm in the afternoon so when I got there the lady was not there who could do the photos I inquired to when she would be back ( her name was Barbara ) and the clerk who was yelling at the previous patron said she did not know because they were having a baby shower for someone in the back and it was really loud so I am believing that was the case. I was told to come back later and maybe she would be there. I asked what the fees would be for the picture and passport process the clerk told she did not know. I came back a half hour later and Barbara was there and she is without a doubt the slowest employee I have ever seen at any job in any industry. She was only able to take one picture at a time then would go back print it which took 10 minutes then come back and take my photo keep in consideration the previous person was my spouse and we were there together and paid together. When we left, there was a line 10 deep and only one clerk out from as the other clerk went back to enjoy the baby shower. I understand your a government service and you can get away with terrible customer service but this has taken it to a new level. It is easy to see why the US postal service is suffering I get a lot of of it is email has replaced the common letter but with this service which would never be allowed in the private business sector and employee accountability which is seriously lacking. I am sure nobody will read this from management side but if you do the baby shower was on Friday October 12th, 2018 starting at 9:30am. I can't wait for the next bday, holiday or baby shower next time I will bring a gift in return for some type of better service. read more

WOW! The employee was so rude! She gave me tape to tape up my box, then complained about me using her tape. She said, "Y'all gone have to start buying me tape. Y'all using up all my tape". I brought my package already boxed up, paid for, label in hand and they were closed, but customers were still in there. So I said, I only need tape! It's priority mail. Dropped off mail in their drop off on July 31st and it has still not even shown up scanned. Very positive they lost it after seeing another reviewers picture of mail on the ground around the drop off box. It's a Post Office. Why review this one? Is it to be first to review something, No (OK, maybe a little bit). Most importantly, this post office is OPEN ON SATURDAYS (9a - 12p). The only other one I know of that is open on Saturdays is the main post office on Franklin downtown which can be brutal to get to and then in and out of on the weekend. This one is relatively empty most of the time and actually have postal workers who don't seem like they want to go "postal" on you. Yes, it's just a post office, but a pretty good one at that. This location is full of unfriendly workers. If you don't like your job, get a new one. If you don't like working with the public...get a new one. There is no reason to be so unfriendly and so rude to a stranger. I've seen better post offices and this isn't one of them.
