I've used this location for many years and although it's small, I found the staff to always be helpful, courteous, and downright enjoyable. Sometimes there's only one person working, but they work diligently always with a positive attitude and managed to keep things moving. Person at the counter would not put a postmark on the 3 postcards I am sending with the date and place. She said there is a machine that would do this. I told her I have sent postcards from this office and recipients tell me there is no postmark. She said that those postal workers were not doing their job. I showed her the usps website through my phone that a hand-stamped postmark can be requested at the post office. She told me that this is only at the discretion of the postal worker. Given how often I'm in this area, the Wesleyan Station has become a convenient USPS to frequent. The service can be slow, the lines can be long, but for the most part I am about to send what I need with little to no fuss. It's not perfect, but I can't think of too many post offices that are. The best things? Parking is abundant, the crowds aren't really here in full force (even during closing time), and it seems low-key most of the time. I am able to send most packages without much stress and the self service machine is usually working quite well. I haven't owned a PO Box here, but I don't intend to either. The not-so-fun things? The staff is painfully slow sometimes. Even though there's no line, the wait can be a little bit of a deterrent when the counter ladies are taking their time with each customer. It's likely the customers, but they always seem to run out of pens for filling out forms, so bring your own. The place also smells a bit like mildew, but I've noticed this is common with most post offices throughout the city. If I can get here, send a package / certified letter, and leave in 5 minutes or less, I consider that a thumbs up. I came in today (Saturday around 12:40 PM) to deliver a small package, and the experience was very disappointing. The employee working alone at the counter was extremely rude and unprofessional. My package was in a paper bag, and the only thing missing was tape. Instead of politely asking me to tape the package or offering me options (like purchasing tape, buying a shipping envelope, or getting a different package), she chose to talk loudly and vaguely into the air about how my package "wasn't proper," without even addressing me directly. It was disrespectful and uncomfortable to be spoken about rather than to. I was willing to follow instructions and do whatever was needed to ship my item properly, but I wasn't given that chance. If I'm in America and I'm finishing a letter, I usually add a US PS. In England, I'll add a UK PS. Barbie likes this post office a lot because they have what she needs, and then usually, in her experience and mine, they should be pretty friendly. It's not far from our house but despite there being 3 or 4 closer, we'll probably use them again in the future, especially considering how much Barbie likes this location. I read the other reviews below and they are all accurate! I never liked going into this post office but it's so convenient for me. I have literally gone in preparing to defend myself. But yesterday, there was someone new at the counter. Her name was Stephanie. I have never seen her there before. Stephanie was absolutely wonderful! Friendly, kind, professional - very helpful. Super friendly. I hope Stephanie is a constant at this location. Oh and she's great at suggestive sales b/c I would have forgotten to buy stamps after mailing my package but she asked me if I wanted stamps & well yes I did! Person who helped me is very nice. However, another one who works there started yelling at customer. Same person smirked at customer for asking how much are two boxes to ship. Lady told me to use their priority tape to tape the labels completely after I asked if I could use my own clear tape. When I went back to the counter they told me they couldn't send off the box's because their tape was covering too much of the label. Went to this location on Saturday 6/5/21 at 1:50 pm to drop off a prepaid package. When I arrived several people were standing in the lobby where the mailboxes are located. The older black woman working there was very rude to everyone waiting and kept telling them and myself that they were closed. I saw her single handedly almost close the door to the room where packages are dropped off, on an Asian woman's hand and foot. The woman only wanted help locating her package but this woman was so rude and not helpful. She then proceeded to yell again at everyone that they were closed. several people including myself told her, " you close at 2pm and it's only 1:50 pm" to which she did not saying anything. I had my package not taped up yet and she told me I'd have to come back when it's taped. then just seconds after taped up another woman's box! she finally crept to the mailroom and I decided I would walk into where the packages are shipped. O stood there waiting and another woman handed me tape for my box and helped me. The other woman was so rude I wish I got her name but guessing by the reviews everyone knows who she is. I will never EVER go back to this location. Wish USPS was more pleasant to deal with. read more

I'm looking at it from another point of view.. customers come in UNPREPARED, holding up the line, they are told what they need to do and they still want to argue with the PROFESSIONAL and tell them what to do..its The UNITED STATES POST OFFICE NOT UPS, where they package everything up for you. You are supposed to be PREPARED when you go up to the counter. The USPS does not supply tape to tape up a whole box, it has to be purchased or use the free tape for priority service, but of course many get upset when they are told this. Dropped two packages off on January 17th, 2024 at around 2pm. Still waiting on one of those packages to be scanned in the system. Still looks like usps is waiting on me to bring package to them. If they look at security cameras they will clearly see that I arrived with two packages and delivered them. I drove back to that office on the 20th to see if they have it and the lady stated nothing stays there overnight and that it's not there, that it's at the distribution location? But she also found it strange it wasn't scanned. She did keep telling me to google delayed delivery. I stayed that it hadn't even been scanned yet. So she gave me a number to consumer services and I have tried non stop calling and they don't answer. So now I'm on hold (1 hour 10 mins waiting) on the phone with USPS nation customer care to report them and to find my package. Absolutely frustrating and they will find my package no matter how long I wait to get it done. read more

We like the Weslayan Post Office. The lines are usually short when we come in and the staff is professional and attentive. The DeMoss station is actually closer to our house, but the service there is abysmal. We avoid it at all costs. The outdoor mail box has been taken out of service (temporarily?) due to vandalism. It appears that someone appeared to break in to the box with a crowbar or pry tool. Channel 13 aired a story saying that has happened at multiple locations around the Houston region. Note: Unknown why this posts as being from San Francisco. We live in southwest Houston. read more

Horrible customer service. The lady at the front with the short hair immediately yelled at me to be 6 feet apart upon entering the building. And then when she finally decided to "assist" me, I told her I needed tape. She then laughed as if something I said was funny. Only to ask me if the label I had a P on it. It did so then she finally said I was entitled to free tape. I understand she's not being paid to be friendly but my goodness, the bitterness just oozes off of her. This is a review for the wake forest shipping offices that service 77005. I have had 2 recent issues. 1) Package shipped to my address. We were told it couldn't be delivered and a note had been left with instructions on what to do. There was no note. And we weren't the only ones. When we went to to the delivery hub, we were told there was a problem with shipping that night and apologized. 2) Another package couldn't be delivered because there was no apartment number on the label. I know for a fact that there was. We called the hub the very next day after failed delivery at 6pm and were told it was already shipped back to the sender. This is in addition to multiple letters being placed in incorrect mailboxes at our apartment. I have never had such a problem with USPS, but as long as I live in this zip code, I will avoid using them as much as possible. read more

Consistently terrible. I was in there today at 12 to ship off a handful of packages like I do at least 3 times a week. Yet again I caught attitude. This woman came walking out of the back after a lengthy conversation with a coworker as the line piled up in the lobby. She came in and immediately caught attitude with a woman at the register. Corrected me that I was standing in the wrong area and that the line began in another area. I was just standing where it was possible to be social distancing since we had all been waiting on them to return from chat time. A few other people chuckled because they new I was next in line. Then she proceeded to tell me I had something packaged wrong and told me to repackage it at one of the tables. I waited in line at the table and she asked me "are you gonna package it or not sir?" I said "ma'am I a patiently waiting for someone to finish while keeping a safe distance." She then told everybody they weren't supposed to be using the tables anyway and that they should be doing that in another area very rudely. I grabbed my things and immediately walked out while informing her in the nicest way possible of how rude she was. SO RIDICULOUS!! Why after all of the terrible reviews does this continue. The 5340 Weslayan St. USPS Post Office was great back before the 2015 "rationalization" closed the Barbara Jordan central post office. Apparently this post office is now on a "low priority" list. Twice I've mailed "2-Day Express" packages at this location and they have been sent on multi-thousand mile trips all over the US that take a week to get to their delivery point in Ft. Worth or Dallas. So, I guess I'll drive way up north to the North Houston post office if something needs to be delivered quickly or use UPS, Federal Express or some other service. read more

I have never in my life had as poor of an experience at a Post Office as I did this one. I have also never written a bad review before, so this is a first. If I could rate it a zero I would. The woman named Cynthia who works here is incredibly rude. It seems to be her style to yell at customers rather than politely tell them the correct way to mail packages. The office was pretty empty when I arrived, so because they were not busy I figured I could ask the woman (Cynthia) for help with choosing a box that would be appropriately sized for the gift I was mailing. She told me to figure it out myself. Okay, whatever, it's not like USPS is particularly known for their stellar customer service.... While taking about 10-15 minutes to find a box that fit, I overheard Cynthia repeatedly raise her voice toward customers who did not have the correct labels, etc. I saw multiple customers go through the line 3 or more times before they got it right - with little to no guidance from the staff. Fortunately, as I said, the office wasn't too busy so the line wasn't very long. When it came my turn, I made a beeline toward the fellow man who was working (he seemed pretty nice, despite her bossing him around). I wanted to insure my box, which the man was happy to do, but then Cynthia looked over and said I couldn't insure it if I don't have bubble wrap (all I was sending was clothes, and they fit pretty snugly to begin with, so I didn't think I needed extra padding). Apparently that meant I had to buy $6+ worth of bubble wrap. I was pretty annoyed at this point, so I decided to just leave instead of purchasing the bubble wrap. Cynthia comes yelling after me because I forgot to pay for the box. It wasn't so much that she is a rule enforcer, but the manner in which she enforces them is downright rude. She makes customers feel like complete idiots for not finding the rules intuitively obvious. I left almost in tears after she made me feel that way. I wasn't going to write this review, but I went back in because I forgot to mail some letters I had in my purse. That's when I saw her yelling at another customer who barely spoke English. It made me livid, so I went up to get her name. She looked like a deer in the headlights because she probably knew why I wanted it. From now on I'm going to stick to using my regular post office on Greenbriar. I hope never to step into this one again and advise you not to either! read more

During COVID19 pandemic I went in to ask for help about a package I wanted to send off, right away a lady scolded me for not wearing a mask and said I needed to "back up off her" even though I was keeping CDC regulated 6 feet away and then proceeded to throw back my paper saying she can't help me and there's no return label, all while THAT was my question in the first place. So today I was looking for a Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Board Game Box because I need to mail something that is 10x15. This box is 23x11 and flat rate, perfect for my needs, but it's only available at the online usps store in packs of 25. Yes, they're free to order, but I feel bad ordering 25 boxes when I only need one. The regular large box at the post office is only 12x12. The largest medium box is only 11x13. Those boxes don't quite cut it. So after calling around to different post offices near me, this post office had the big box I needed. The lady on the phone said she would put some out front for me. And sure enough, when I got to the post office, there were some board game boxes next to the usual priority mail box display. So I grabbed a box to take home. I tried checking in, but this post office was not on yelp yet. This post office saved me from ordering 24 excess boxes! read more

Signed up for Phone TEXT tracking and was impressed to get updates of package scans as my medication moved from point to point .... UNTIL .... it said "Delivered, In/At Mailbox 03/25/2016 12:58pm HOUSTON TX 77008".... but nothing nothing nothing GOT DELIVERED!!! Tried calling the HELP # provided via the Text msg and did 10mins of forced automated circles. I checked with a couple of neighbors to find out if they accidentally got my mail, but nothing. Now, do I wait and hope my item magically makes it way to me???? Do I go to the Post Office Monday ask them to produce something they say was delivered already to my home??? The manager at this location has a terrible attitude and needs to be replaced. She refuses to accommodate customer needs and is down right rude. It seems that her poor attitude also affects the moral of the staff resulting in overall poor attitudes and service. Mail delivered to this location and mailed from this location, including certified mail and return receipts, at best takes twice as long to receive and at worst is frequently lost or never delivered.
